Trouble Does The Time On His 431 Days Mixtape

‘This is one of my biggest mixtapes that I dropped in a long time,’ host DJ Bigga Rankin tells Mixtape Daily. By Rob Markman, with reporting by FLX Trouble Photo: MTV News Mixtape Daily Main Pick Headliners : Trouble, DJ Bigga Rankin, DJ Teknikz and DJ Frank White Representing : Atlanta Mixtape : 431 Days Real Spit : Time waits for no man. It’s an age-old adage that Atlanta rapper Trouble is fully aware of. On December 17, 2008, the Duct Tape Entertainment MC was jailed on aggravated assault, and exactly two years later, in 2010, he was released. The date holds so much significance for Trouble that he went on to name his debut mixtape December 17th and then his latest tape 431 Days, signifying the amount of time between his release from jail and the tape’s March 27 release. “This is one of my biggest mixtapes that I dropped in a long time,” DJ Bigga Rankin, one of 431 Days ‘ three hosts, told Mixtape Daily. “When he speaks, he speaks the truth.” While some rappers choose to focus their attention on the club or big radio hits, Trouble specializes in emotive street material. It isn’t that he simply raps about his experience in the trap; the Zone 6 spitter takes things a step further and explores the feelings that surround his harsh realities. On “Never Understand,” Trouble teams with Bun B to explain what makes him different from his rap contemporaries. “Confused ass, little bustas bussin’, all over nothin’/ Catch a case and then turn state, who can you trust in,” Trouble raps about so-called hustlers who are ill-prepared for the drug game’s consequences. The entire 431 Days tape is peppered with this type of analysis. “All I’m Worried About” is a dedication to the rapper’s family and closest friends. With his very first line, Trouble makes it clear where his allegiances lie: “Every plate I get with food on it, I take it to my moms/ Not just crumbs, you n—as really bums.” Gucci Mane also shows up for “Hustle Ambition,” Verse Simmonds on the female-friendly “Would You” and, of course, Alley Boy and Big Bank Black from Duct Tape contribute as well. Throughout the 17-track mixtape, Trouble displays an overwhelming sense of urgency. There isn’t a wasted song, as the MC paints a focused picture with each track. Here’s to his next 431 days! John Travolta’s Difficult Week: Another Sexual Harassment Claim

Actor’s lawyer vehemently denies all three claims that have been made so far. By Gil Kaufman John Travolta Photo: Getty Images After two anonymous male masseurs came forward with claims alleging that John Travolta assaulted and sexually harassed them during rub downs, another man has come forward with a similar story. The third alleged victim, the first to be publicly named, is Chilean cruise ship employee Fabian Zanzi, who, according to reports, says that Travolta accosted him in 2009 while he was working as a VIP liaison on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. Zanzi told ABC.es that Travolta offered him $12,000 to have sex, but that he spurned the “Pulp Fiction” star’s advances. “He hugged me and asked me to do a massage,” Zanzi said. The cruise ship worker has reportedly filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Travolta, but no evidence of that suit had emerged at press time. The latest allegation capped a difficult week for the married star, who has long battled allegations that he is gay. The two anonymous masseurs filed a $2 million civil lawsuit
against Travolta earlier in the week, which the actor’s lawyer tagged as “a complete fiction and fabrication.” Speaking on Travolta’s behalf, attorney Marty Singer said, “None of the events claimed in the suit ever occurred. The plaintiff, who refuses to give their name, knows that the suit is a baseless lie. It is for that reason that the plaintiff hasn’t been identified with a name even though it is required to do so.” Singer went on to say that Travolta, 58, was not in California on the date when the first claimant — who has since said he got the date wrong — said the “Hairspray” actor made sexual advances towards him during a massage. On Friday (May 11), Singer also denied the claims by Zanzi, accusing him of “hopping on the bandwagon” in search of “his 15 minutes of fame.” “This individual is simply hopping on the bandwagon to get his 15 minutes of fame by coming up with a story for the first time with something that supposedly happened over three years ago,” Singer told the New York Daily News . “Nobody has ever heard from this guy before. No lawyer has contacted us.” Radar Online reported that the Atlanta resort where the second John Doe accuser claims Travolta made sexual advances has been asked to preserve the surveillance tape taken during that time in the event that it becomes evidence in the lawsuit. Quoting an unidentified source close to the case, the gossip site reported, “The hotel has been notified by the masseur’s attorney to preserve the surveillance video of the time when Travolta stayed there … The surveillance video will be crucial evidence in the case because it shows Travolta going to the spa the next day after it is claimed the incident occurred, looking for the masseur, because he wanted to see him again, which is all detailed in the lawsuit. Travolta was told the masseur wasn’t available and he left. The masseur was extremely upset when he left Travolta’s room, which would have been captured on the camera in the hallway as well.” The 14-page suit filed by the first alleged victim last Friday in California’s U.S. District Court, charges Travolta with assault, sexual battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that among other salacious activities, Travolta exposed himself and groped the masseur despite protests during a massage performed in Los Angeles in January 2011.

For Your Information: The FDA Advisory Panel Recommends Approval For HIV-Prevention Drug Truvada

Truuuuuuuuuu! FDA May Approve HIV Pill Truvada For Mass Consumption The first drug shown to prevent HIV infection won the endorsement of a panel of federal advisers Thursday, clearing the way for a landmark approval in the 30-year fight against the virus that causes AIDS. In a series of votes, a Food and Drug Administration advisory panel recommended approval of the daily pill Truvada for healthy people who are at high risk of contracting HIV, including gay and bisexual men and heterosexual couples with one HIV-positive partner. The FDA is not required to follow the panel’s advice, though it usually does. A final decision is expected by June 15. Gilead Sciences Inc., based in Foster City, Calif., has marketed Truvada since 2004 as a treatment for people who are infected with the virus. The medication is a combination of two older HIV drugs, Emtriva and Viread. Doctors usually prescribe it as part of a drug cocktail to repress the virus. While panelists ultimately backed Truvada for prevention, Thursday’s 12-hour meeting highlighted a number of concerns created by the first drug to prevent HIV. In particular, the panel debated whether Truvada might lead to reduced use of condoms, the most reliable defense against HIV. The experts also questioned the drug’s effectiveness in women, who have shown much lower rates of protection in studies. Panelists struggled to outline steps that would ensure patients take the pill every day. In clinical trials, patients who didn’t take their medication diligently were not protected, and patients in the real world are even more likely to forget than those in studies. Says one doctor about the controversial drug: “The trouble is adherence, but I don’t think it’s our charge to judge whether people will take the medicine,” said Dr. Tom Giordano of Baylor College of Medicine, who voted in favor of the drug. “I think our charge is to judge whether it works when it’s taken and whether the risks outweigh the benefits.” Once again, this pill is not a “I don’t need no condom baby, I take Truvada” situation. Strapping up will always be the most effective way to prevent the spread of disease, however this drug would definitely be a breakthrough in the fight against HIV/AIDS Source

King Louie Didn’t Know Kanye West Is A Fan

Louie responds to ‘Ye’s shout-out on G.O.O.D. Music’s ‘I Don’t Like’ remix: ‘It was crazy,’ Chicago MC tells Mixtape Daily . By Rob Markman, with reporting by Vanessa White Wolf King Louie Photo: MTV News Fire Starter: King Louie It isn’t just a Chicago thing anymore — just ask King Louie. There was a time when 24-year-old Louis Johnson was just making music for fans within his native city’s borders, but in the past year, the Eastside Chi-town MC has seen his name spread like wildfire. A well-timed Kanye West plug only fanned the flames. “I was coming from the dentist, he had gave me all those meds, so I was kinda out of whack,” Louie told Mixtape Daily of when he first heard Yeezy name-check him on the G.O.O.D. Music remix to Chief Keef’s underground riot starter “I Don’t Like.” “Shout-out to L.E.P., J Boogie, right?/ Chief Keef, King Louie, this is Chi, right?” ‘Ye spits on the souped-up remix, which hit the Web last week on May 1. “It was crazy, because you don’t think them type of guys on that level hear your music just coming from the hood,” Louie said of his surprise during an L.A. interview three days after the song dropped. Though Louie plays humble, it has been increasingly difficult to ignore his musical output. His 2011 track “Too Cool” has been consistently buzzing thanks to its infectious hook and polished music video. It also doesn’t hurt that he joined forces with Kanye’s former manager John Monopoly about eight months ago. Now, Louie is signed to independent label Lawless Inc. and continues to pump out street-inspired, hard-hitting, dope-boy music. His latest mixtape, Motion Picture, serves as an appetizer for his upcoming album, Dope & Shrimp . Lou was about 16 years old when he first started hitting the recording studio. He started taking rap seriously after he got kicked out of high school. Now KL is part of a budding Chicago music scene that includes Chief Keef, Rockie Fresh, L.E.P. Bogus Boys, YP and Def Jam’s latest signees Lil’ Durk and Lil’ Reese . “The music scene is crazy. It’s younger and energetic. … It’s fun again,” Louie said of his city’s new crop of spitters. King Louie is particularly proud that he has had a hand in influencing a lot of Chi’s new talent: He and 16-year-old Keef are frequent collaborators. “Makes me feel like I did something right for my peers,” he said. Now that rap’s spotlight is shining on him and his team, King Louie doesn’t plan to let up his verbal assault any time soon. Next up is Dope & Shrimp, a title Louie said he chose because all he does is “smoke dope and eat shrimp.” “It’s more mature; you can tell that I’m growing,” he explained. “You can hear the growth and development in my craft. Sounds like a better Louie.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines . Related Artists Kanye West

Meek Mill Keeps Chasing The Dream On New Mixtape

‘I’m just giving everybody my view of how I’m living,’ Milly tells Mixtape Daily of just-released Dream Chasers 2. By Rob Markman, with reporting by James Lacsina Meek Mill Photo: MTV News Mixtape Daily Main Pick Headliners : Meek Mill And DJ Drama Representing : Philadelphia, PA Mixtape : Dream Chasers 2 Real Spit : Hard to imagine that anyone is still sleeping on Meek Mill these days, but don’t think for a second that all his rap popularity came overnight. Meek made his name battling on the streets of his native Philadelphia, proved his in-studio worth with an impressive string of mixtapes, then Rick Ross came knocking in 2011, Maybach Music deal in hand. Some would say Meek Mill is living his dream, but if you let the Philly flame-spitter tell it, he’s still chasing it. On Monday (May 7), Meek dropped Dream Chasers 2, the follow-up to last year’s critically acclaimed mixtape . “My city lacks dream chasers,” Meek Milly told Mixtape Daily. “It’s motivational, inspiring, my story, but this time, I’m just more loose with it. I’ve been seeing more things, been around the world a little bit more.” Though the MMG young gun has grown as an MC, the music on DC2 is just as edgy as its predecessor. On the tape’s intro, Meek sets an aggressive tone, spitting, “I got 30 racks in my pocket, I keep 30 shots in my clip/ I get 30 racks for my verses, y’all ain’t gettin’ paper like this.” On the aggressively paced “Flexing,” Meek once again links with “I’ma Boss” producer Jahlil Beats, and on “Everyday,” he rides with his MMG boss Rick Ross over a menacing sound bed. While hard-granite rap is his strong point, Milly is no one-trick pony; he does venture out of the streets from time to time. For “Ready or Not,” producer All Star conjures a beat based off the popular 1996 Fugees song of the same name. The subdued instrumental allows the young MC the space to get introspective. “It’s a dark cloud over me, money took control of me/ I’m barely getting time to see my son and that sh– hurtin’ me/ Baby mama trippin’, I tell her to work with me/ I’m on probation, still strapped, ’cause n—as wanna murder me.” “Use to Be” shows even more vulnerability. Over what sounds like a muted heartbeat with soft piano keys laid atop, the promising rap product opens up even more about his demons. “When I was young, I started plannin’ it out/ My daddy got killed, I was the man of the house/ By the age of 16, man them hammers was out/ So when n—as tried to hit me, I’m just handin’ ’em out.” “I’m just giving everybody my view of how I’m living and relating to other people’s stories and bringing the part of the game that I need to bring to the game,” Meek said of his intentions when recording the tape. On Dream Chasers 2, Meek Mill surely serves his underground base but proves that he has a knack for making big records as well. It’s a safe bet that “Amen” featuring Drake and Jeremih will become a radio mainstay at least until August 28, when he drops his debut album, Dreams and Nightmares. Still, there is no one record that can define Meek’s latest work, and even if he’s accomplished some of his goals, we’re quite confident he’d just dream up a few more. Joints to Check For
