It’s a balancing act that Fat Joe has mastered throughout his career, most recently with the release of his super-catchy single “Another Round” (with Chris Brown) and his murderous mixtape The Darkside, Vol. II. “I’m a grown guy, I’m a grown man, so for me, I don’t have no problem touching that sexy stuff — and I do everything,” Joe told Mixtape Daily last week. “I might have the most controversial, the most hard-core mixtape out: Darkside II out right now online; [if] you want that real hip-hop, go get it.” When the Bronx, New York, rap titan first emerged on the scene in 1993 with his debut album, Represent, his official moniker was Fat Joe da Gangsta. By the time his sophomore record came out two years later, he’d simplified his name, going by Fat Joe. Still, he’s always maintained a hard edge. “Right now, it seems that gangsta rap is extinct, so I give you that [music] free. I give you The Darkside II, it’s better than some people’s albums,” Joe boasted. “It’s that hard, you might hear that and be like, ‘Damn.’ I give it all: I do songs for the ladies, I do big songs and I touch the streets at the same time, so I feed everybody.” “Another Round” should provide Joe with ample radio play and visibility as he promotes his upcoming 11th album, while Darkside II will keep Crack cemented in the streets. Starting out with the French Montana-assisted “Welcome to the Darkside,” Cook Coke Crack sets off his verbal murder spree in grand fashion and doesn’t let up. Jadakiss rides shotgun on “Dope Man,” a gangsta’s reworking of the Beatles’ classic “Yesterday.” There’s no shortage of hard-core rap joints either. Even on the sweet-sounding “Angels Say,” Joe spits about John Gotti and late-night gunfights over Mark Henry’s soulful production. Have Young Hov and King B FINALLY welcomed their bundle of joy into the world??? The rumor mill has been abuzz for the last week about exactly when and where Beyonce will have her baby girl (whatever her name my be) however it seems that the time may have arrived. This evening Bossip received word from multiple sources close to the Knowles-Carter camp that the child-bearing chantuese has given birth to the couple’s first child. Very few details are available at this time as the happy couple and their circle has remained tight-lipped. One source told Bossip that Jay-Z has even been giving his associates different January due dates in attempt to keep the birth as private as possible. So is the baby here? Well Hov and Bey love to keep us all guessing but it sure looks that way to us. NYDailyNews reports also seem to indicate the time has arrived: Baby-once is expected to make her long-awaited debut any minute at Lenox Hill Hospital, sources told the Daily News. A very pregnant Beyonce checked into the upper East Side hospital Friday night under the name “Ingrid Jackson,” a hospital staffer told the Daily News. Beyonce and her hip-hop hubby, Jay-Z, rented out the hospital’s entire fourth floor for $1.3 million, the employee said. In an effort to keep images from leaking to the public, hospital workers placed tape over security cameras and are forcing employees to turn in cell phones when they arrive for their shifts, the source said. Several security guards were spotted patrolling the outside of the hospital Saturday night. A Lenox Hill staffer confirmed that a patient named Ingrid Jackson was in a “labor room.” Reps for the power couple did not return requests for comment. Sounds like it’s for real this time. Sarah Burge, a British woman known as “Human Barbie” because she has undergone so many plastic surgery procedures, presented her seven-year old daughter with a $10,000 voucher for liposuction as a Christmas present this year. Yes. Seven-year old daughter. Voucher. Liposuction. She defended the decision to The Daily Mail this week, saying “there’s nothing wrong” with that as a stocking stuffer because daughter Poppy asks “for surgery all the time.” That’s great and all. But she probably asks for cupcakes for dinner all the time, too. Doesn’t the entire job of a parent involve deciding what’s best for his or her young child? “She wants to look good and lipo is one of those procedures that will always come in handy,” added Burge, who was forced to repair her face multiple times many years ago after an incident of domestic violence. “I see these vouchers as investing in her future – like saving money for her education.” Burge dismisses the “stigma” around “wanting to look good” because she says girls want to grow up and be “like Cheryl Cole and Lady Gaga ” and: “I’m just supporting her and making her dreams come true.” Do you agree? His grandmother admitted as much! Sadie Bomar confirmed that her pride and joy and the actress, his on-again, off-again girlfriend of over four years, have taken the leap and gotten engaged. “He called me on Christmas Day and told me he’s engaged,” Bomar said, adding that JT asked her not to discuss the news with anyone “until after the holidays.” She also shared that , “the family loves Jessie. She’s a very sweet girl.” Sniff . Sadie has actually commented on his relationship status before. In October 2009, when breakup rumors surfaced, she explained what was really going on. “Jessica was keen to marry, but Justin isn’t ready,” she told The Daily Mail, “He’s working hard to be successful, doing own thing and he isn’t ready to marry just yet.” The couple broke up in March of last year and finally, the lovebirds’ makeup (for the final time) happened around September. If he wasn’t ready then, he is now. According to reports, the proposal happened (and supposedly included a “custom designed” ring) while they were on vacation in Jackson, Wyoming. Wait, what?!?! Over the weekend, the arrest of a 19-year-old man on a handgun charge caught my eye. His name? Omar Little. That of course is the name of the iconic stick-up man from “The Wire,” a show that was based heavily on real people and events from Baltimore’s crime history. Though the Omar character was said to be based on several people – Shorty Boyd, Donnie Andrews, Ferdinand Harvin, Billy Outlaw and Anthony Hollie – none of them were actually named “Omar Little.” I reached out to the show creator and former Sun reporter David Simon to see whether there was, in fact, an Omar Little who Simon or his writing partners had come across and used as the namesake for the character. Simon replied that the existence of a real life Omar Little was “coincidence, completely.” Fans of the show, however, seemed to delight in the news that there was actually someone in Baltimore with that name, allegedly committing gun crimes, no less. The Wire’s Omar was a Robin Hood of the inner city, a shotgun-toting “man with a code” who President Barack Obama said was his favorite character. My tweet about his arrest have been “re-tweeted” hundreds of times and led to stories on blogs such as The Huffington Post and The Daily What, and then today on BuzzFeed and The Onion’s AV Club. The full name of the man arrested over the weekend is Omar Little Jr., and records show Omar Little Sr. has a record including several drug arrests from the 1990s. The arrest of the younger man, who is 19, is his first, but he’s being held on $350,000 bond because it’s a gun crime. Attempts to reach both men were unsuccessful, and police so far haven’t been able to get me a copy of the police report. Sources say a ‘massive fight’ led to Brand’s divorce filing Friday. With the new year on the horizon, more details about what led to their split are emerging. Sources told Us Weekly that the couple always fought, but in the time leading up to the divorce filing, the arguments had gotten more heated, leading to one “massive fight.” “She was like, ‘F— you. I’m going to do my own thing.’ Russell replied, ‘Fine, f— you too,’ ” the source explained. See a timeline of Katy Perry and Russell Brand’s relationship. Meanwhile, other sources close to the couple told E! News that the twosome had spent “a lot of time apart” as of late and that they have been having a number of “problems.” TMZ further reports that those separate vacations were planned so that neither party would be in L.A. when the papers were filed. The couple had been having problems for some time, and after trying to make it work, TMZ sources add that “it just wasn’t there” anymore. Brand eventually filed for divorce first due to Perry’s strong religious beliefs and background. Other reports suggest that Brand and Perry may have had differing views about how they wanted to live their lives. The Daily Mail reports that recovering drug addict Brand didn’t approve of Perry’s friends (like fellow pop star Rihanna). He had reportedly asked her to “tone it down.” The split may be surprising for some given that in the past few weeks, the former couple had gushed about one another in various interviews. When Brand stopped by “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” he steadfastly denied that he and Perry had plans to divorce. “There are always rumors, aren’t there? In the end, you have to just not engage with Internet technology, which is difficult, because a lot of the nude-women websites I quite enjoy,” he joked. “I’ve treated the whole Internet now like it’s a wicked little liar,” he added. “Yeah. I am really happily married. I’m married to Katy. Perpetually, until death do us part was the pledge.” In fact, when MTV News spoke to Perry at rehearsals for her “Saturday Night Live” hosting gig earlier this month, she noted that she was getting lots of advice from her soon-to-be ex-husband. “My husband, of course, every day I call him and I’m like, ‘This happened,’ and he’s like, ‘I know what that means, and here’s the next play-by-play for tomorrow,’ so he’s gotten me really prepared for this week, thankfully.” Whatever happens next for these two in 2012, the comedian noted in a statement that he hoped to remain friends with Perry. “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I will always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.” Perry has remained mum since the news broke. The couple kicked off their love affair at the 2009 VMAs when Brand was hosting and Perry was on hand as one of the night’s performers. They later got engaged in India during a New Year’s vacation months later. The pair married in a lavish affair in India in 2010. News of their split comes days after they sparked split rumors when they were seen separately over the Christmas holiday sans wedding rings .
