Eloise Mumford Cast as Kate Kavanagh in Fifty Shades of Grey: Good Choice?

Eloise Mumford will Anastasia Steele’s roommate in Fifty Shades of Grey, scoring one of the final big roles to cast before the film goes into production. The casting of Kate Kavanagh had been a high priority for the Fifty Shades of Grey movie brain trust after Charlie Hunnam was cast as Christian Grey. Now we have her, despite much bigger names being rumored for the part (which was also true regarding every other part in the upcoming film). Universal was looking at actresses for the role and testing girls with Dakota Johnson, but Hunnam’s exit moved producers’ focus back to Christian. Jamie Dornan ultimately replaced Hunnam as the male lead and Jennifer Ehle and Luke Grimes joined the cast, with Sam Taylor-Johnson directing. Kate Kavanagh is lead character Ana Steele’s best friend and her polar opposite. She is also said to be drop-dead gorgeous, leaving men panting. She and Elliott Grey (Grimes) also begin a romantic relationship. Prior to getting her start in film and TV, Mumford, 27, served as understudy to Elisabeth Moss in the David Mamet Broadway play Speed-the-Plow . Victor Rasuk Cast in Fifty Shades Of Grey as …

With the Fifty Shades Of Grey movie delayed a month, the cast is still being built around Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele and Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey. To wit, Victor Rasuk will portray Jose , the aspiring photographer and classmate of Anastasia, whose close friendship with her pits him against Christian. Of course, we all know he loses out to Grey, the wealthy businessman whose disturbing past has left him with a need to dominate his partners … S&M style. Rasuk was in HBO’s How to Make It In America , as well as Raising Victor Vargas and the Steven Soderbergh-directed Che . He’ll next be seen in Godzilla . Luke Grimes was recently cast as Christian’s brother Elliot, and Jennifer Ehle as Ana’s mother, while Ana’s best friend Kate Kavanagh has yet to be cast. With its new lead, the Fifty Shades of Grey movie will begin production in December. It is still on track, at least as of right now, for an August 2014 release.

Prepare to be upset all over again, Ian Somerhalder and Matt Bomer fans: According to Variety, Jamie Dornan has been confirmed as the new lead in Fifty Shades of Grey . The British actor – best known Stateside for having portrayed Sheriff Graham on ABC’s Once Upon a Time – became an immediate favorite for the role of Christian Grey soon after Charlie Hunnam dropped out of the production a few weeks after landing the part. Various reasons have been given for Hunnam’s surprising departure – from his meager salary to his fear of the spotlight – but the actor recently attributed his decision to ” some family stuff going on .” Dornan played a serial killer on a BBC Two production titled “The Fall” and also appeared in Sofia Coppola’s “Marie Antoinette.” He’s also a former rugby player who is expecting his first child with wife Amelia Warner. The 31-year old will star in the big screen adaption of E.L. James’ wildly popular novel opposite Dakota Johnson, who remains on board as Anastasia Steele. Sam Taylor-Johnson will direct the movie. Following the shocking news that Christian Grey will be recast in the forthcoming Fifty Shades of Grey movie, will producers soon be looking for a new Ana as well? Charlie Hunnam is out the project before it even began, citing scheduling conflicts. It’s unclear what new conflicts could have arisen in the last month, however. Unofficially, The Hollywood Reporter claims Charlie was actually intimidated by the amount of negative attention his casting received, and he got cold feet. Whatever the reason, Hunnam’s exit leaves his would-be co-star, Dakota Johnson, on shaky ground, with some fans calling for her to be replaced too. Dakota was a fresh face that Focus and Universal loved, but one of the biggest reasons she was cast was because of her chemistry with Charlie. Fifty Shades of Grey is a love story (or mommy porn, depending who you ask), but either way, Christian Grey is the key figure to the studio and fans.
