Eminem, Jay-Z To Headline Ireland’s Oxegen Festival

Black Eyed Peas, Vampire Weekend and John Mayer also set to perform at Ireland’s largest music festival. By Jayson Rodriguez Eminem and Jay-Z (file) Photo: Activision Eminem and Jay-Z will be among the marquee acts participating at the Oxegen 2010 music festival this summer in Ireland, it was announced on Tuesday (February 23). The multi-platinum rappers are the standouts on a bill that also includes the Black Eyed Peas , Vampire Weekend , Empire of the Sun , Muse and John Mayer . Em is scheduled to close out the multi-day fest, which takes place July 8 to July 11. The Detroit MC will rock the main stage and be joined by D-12 and a live band backing the performance. There are no details regarding Jay-Z’s set date or location as of press time. The annual spree is Ireland’s largest music festival . Oxegen was founded in 2004 and in the past has featured a range of artists including the Killers and R.E.M. Last year, Nine Inch Nails were among the headliners. In addition to Em and Jay, the 2010 line will include Muse, David Guetta, and DJ A-Trak. Recently, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones suggested Eminem and Jay-Z should headline a concert at the NFL magnate’s new stadium, which hosted the record-setting NBA All-Star game earlier this month. “Those are the kinds of stars or the kinds of individuals that people are so interested in seeing,” Jones told MTV News. “We’ve got a venue there that can show them and their skills and talent. We could put a crowd in there to watch them.” The “Renegade” collaborators, Em and Jay, have hooked up a few times already in the past year. They both consulted on the “DJ Hero” video game and later performed in Los Angeles during an event sponsored by the gaming company. The event featured one of the last performances by DJ AM. As these celebrities point out, it’s all about having the right basics in your closet — like the staple little black dress — to ensure that you always look your red-carpet best. “Earrings!” “Jersey Shore” star Jenni “J-Woww” Farley told MTV News about her fashion must-have. “I have chubby ears, so I gotta wear my earrings.” While earrings are the choice accessory for J-Woww, “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star and Bebe fashion designer Kim Kardashian said it’s all about having the right blazer. “I can’t live without a black blazer, and I think that you know you can wear it with a dress or you can wear them with a T-shirt and jeans,” she explained. “It’s just super-chic.” Singer Estelle’s fashion advice was very simple: “A good pair of jeans and a good pair of Spanx.” And fellow Brit Kelly Osbourne seems to agree on keeping it simple. “You can never do without a simple black jacket, a good pair of jeans, great heels and a good bag,” she told MTV News. The former MTV star previously shared her one big fashion regret, saying, “For some reason I kept pasting my face even whiter, and I had this black eyeliner and this green dress,” she said. “Every time I see the picture, I’m like, ‘Ewww.’ ” Like Osbourne, Kardashian has a few skeletons in her fashion closet too. “I was so matchy-matchy,” Kardashian said. “I probably regret wearing this turquoise sweater with these turquoise flowers in my hair and turquoise eye shadow.”

Evan Lysacek and Nastia Liukin: Dating!

As celebrity couples go, Evan Lysacek and Nastia Liukin are a gold-medal pair. Seriously, they’ve both won Olympic gold medals in their respective sports. On his way to becoming the first U.S. man to win figure skating gold in 22 years last week, Lysacek had a little help from Liukin, a gymnastics champion. The couple met in October 2008 in Rapid City, S.D., performing on the NBC special Skating & Gymnastics Spectacular and have dated since last summer . “We became good friends and became really close since,” says Lysacek, who attended the ESPYs with Nastia last July and things progressed from there. Lysacek went to Dallas to cheer on Liukin during her gymnastics comeback at the U.S. Nationals in August, then this month, the couple switched roles. “To see his dreams come true was amazing,” Liukin, 20, who had a cameo on Gossip Girl last season, says of watching her man triumph at the Olympics. “Even though we’re not in the same sport, there’s nothing like the Olympics. It was nice to be on other side, to be the support system. But I was nervous.” “She been so helpful to me,” adds Lysacek. “She has been through it herself. If I’m having a bad day, she tells me to have faith and to keep going.” “Sometimes your support system has more faith in you than yourself. And when she tells me things are going to be fine, I really believe it.”

Hov said he’s thinking about two more videos from his opus. “I wanna shoot ‘Venus vs. Mars,’ ” he told MTV News last weekend in Dallas. “I may shoot two — I shot ‘Run This Town’ [and ‘D.O.A. (Death of Auto Tune)’] , I been shooting two at the same time. I’ll probably shoot ‘Venus’ and maybe ‘A Star Is Born.’ But I definitely wanna shoot ‘Venus’ — I got an amazing concept in my mind.” However, he said he doesn’t think he’ll shoot a clip for “Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour),” which he, Rihanna and members of U2 performed during MTV’s “Hope for Haiti Now” telethon. “I don’t think there will be a video,” he explained. “The number is ridiculous as far as the [money generated by the Hope For Haiti Now ] album . I’m excited about the whole effort we put into the telethon. I don’t think it’s entertainment, I think it’s a real thing. It’s helping real people through a real tough time, and we’ll just move on from there.” While out in Dallas for the NBA All-Star Game, Jay also told MTV News that he wasn’t sure when a new album is coming, but he did have one song for it already. “I don’t know,” he said. “I didn’t really start yet. I got a couple of scraps and I got a couple of ideas. I didn’t really go into the studio yet. I’ve been toying with ideas and direction and things like that. “I got one crazy record,” he added. “To be honest with you, it’s crazy. I got one and we’ll build from there. Major League Baseball pitchers and catchers end their vacations and report to their teams’ spring camps to start early workout regimens. For baseball fans, it’s a time of hope for the new baseball season. And if you’re a New York Yankees fan like Jay-Z and Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James, you can’t help but be very optimistic that the Bronx Bombers will repeat their championship run of last year. It seems like only yesterday Jay-Z and Alicia Keys were performing “Empire State of Mind” at the World Series in Yankee Stadium. On Saturday night, during the “Two Kings Dinner & Afterparty” at the W Hotel in Dallas organized by Jay-Z and James, the b-baller gave his prediction for the Yankees’ chances to win a 28th World Championship this season. “I think so,” LeBron said on the red carpet when asked if he thought the team helmed by Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez would be keeping the championship in New York this year. “With the loss of Johnny Damon, it may hurt us, and also Matsui, but I think the guys are gonna come back, be ready to play and we looking forward to spring training,” he added. The Yankees have made several roster alterations during the off-season, most notably choosing not to renew contracts of two vital cogs of their championship run, outfielder Johnny Damon and World Series MVP, designated hitter Hideki Matsui. James and Jay-Z also share a love for America’s Team, the Dallas Cowboys. And on Sunday, James got a chance to play in Cowboys Stadium during the NBA All-Star Game. “I’m honored. To be able to be in Cowboy Stadium, one of the biggest stages, it’s an honor for me,” James said. Before Saturday’s evening’s festivities, Jay-Z and LeBron James were at a Dallas Boys and Girls Club donating scholarships to kids. “Growing up where we grew up, we didn’t have much as kids,” James, standing next to Jay-Z, said. “[One of the reasons] why we’re so close is we both always believed in if we ever became successful and had a chance to give back to the community — not just ours — we would.” Jay added, “There are not a lot of people that make it out of neighborhoods we made it out in the first place. And the people that do, we don’t have many examples of a LeBron James that’s still moving around the neighborhood. Any chance we get to come back and touch and inspire, we’re always up for it.

By Shaheem Reid Photo: Bennett Raglin/ WireImage DALLAS — “We Are the World: 25 for Haiti,” the all-star remake of the classic 1985 charity single , premiered on Friday night during the Winter Olympics opening ceremony. The song features dozens of today’s biggest musical artists , ranging from Kanye West and Pink to Barbra Streisand and Tony Bennett, and unlike the original, it also features a large number of rappers . However, the genre’s biggest star said that to him, musically speaking, nothing could ever come close to the original. “I have a interesting take on that,” Jay-Z said Saturday at the annual “2 Kings” dinner , which was sponsored by Sprite and Bing and took place during NBA All-Star weekend. “I know everybody is gonna take this wrong: ‘We Are the World,’ I love it, and I understand the point and think it’s great. But I think ‘We Are the World’ is like [Michael Jackson’s] ‘Thriller’ to me. I don’t ever wanna see it touched. I’m a fan of music. I know the plight and everything that’s going on in Haiti. I applaud the efforts: [Millions have been raised] through text [donations] to Haiti. So I appreciate the efforts and everything, but ‘We are the World’ is [musically] untouchable like ‘Thriller’ is untouchable. Some things are just untouchable. It was a valiant effort, but for me, it’s gonna be untouchable.” Jay said he felt that a new song should have been written instead of re-creating the 1985 classic. “I would have loved that idea better,” he said. “As everyone knows, I have tremendous respect for Quincy Jones. Of course, I think he’s genius, as everyone else does. [But] I think it’s time for us to make a new [song]. I tried to do that with ‘Stranded,’ the song Jay, Rihanna and U2’s Bono and the Edge premiered at the ‘Hope for Haiti Now’ telethon]. I didn’t try to make ‘We Are the World,’ but I tried to make our take on how we felt.” In fact, Jay and LeBron James spent the early part of Saturday giving back in Dallas. They visited a local Boys & Girls Club and gave out not just scholarships, but words of advice and inspiration telling the kids to pursue their dreams. The “2 Kings” dinner and afterparty was held at the W Hotel in Dallas. Diddy, Mario Lopez, Terrell Owens, Magic Johnson, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Dave Winfield were among those who attended.
