Oscar Campaign Playbook? Jennifer Lawrence Shows Off Comedic Chops In ‘SNL’ Promos

Jennifer Lawrence hasn’t had many opportunities to show off her comedic chops onscreen — she only burst onto the scene three years ago in Winter’s Bone , then quickly filled up her dance card with action blockbusters like X-Men: First Class and The Hunger Games before taking on the awards season contender Silver Linings Playbook — but the Best Actress front-runner has been delighting awards-watchers left and right on the Oscar circuit these past few months. The girl is funny — sardonic, whip-smart, witty, self-deprecating, and she knows what’s what as she plays the Hollywood game, which is why her post-Golden Globes hosting gig on Saturday Night Live will be one to watch. The promo bits are hit and miss — spoofing awards season with Jason Sudeikis, Lawrence at least nails the giddy awkwardness of getting up on that podium only to be played off by the orchestra, amirite Daniel Day-Lewis ? — but it’s promising enough just to see her mugging for the laughs. Here’s hoping once that Silver Linings Oscar is on her mantle she’ll tackle some comedies. Actual real comedies that grown-ups might want to watch! Now there’s an idea. The SNL gig also cements Lawrence as the popular favorite in her race, although I’d totally watch Emmanuelle Riva and Quvenzhané Wallis tag-team an SNL co-hosting gig. Think bigger next time, guys. I have loved Justin since ‘One Time,’ but I’ve only been a true…

I have loved Justin since ‘One Time,’ but I’ve only been a true belieber since March 2011. My twitter account is almost only for him. I live 12 hours away from Montreal, where I went to see Justin live, so it’s really far. On May 22 nd , Justin tweeted that the tickets for the first leg of the Believe tour in North America were going on sale the next day. I made myself a BieberFever account just to get tickets. I got really good seats, and I was crying so much. One of my dreams finally came true. In September, we hear about the Just Dance 4 Bieber contest, so my friends and I decided to do it : watch here . We also heard about the Bieberfever contest to win meet and greets, so we decided to do it as well. On November 25 th , the day before Justin’s show, we were in our hotel room. My friend was on my computer, and I heard the sound of a message on hotmail. My friend suddenly screamed, and she told me that I had won 2 meet and greet for Montreal’s show because of the Bieberfever contest! My friend and I screamed and cried so much! My 2 others friends were upset because I only won 2 M&G’s and there was 4 of us. We went on my other friend’s e-mail and we saw the she won too! It ended up being that we were all gonna meet our idol the next day.  At 4 p.m. on November 26 th , we went to get our bracelets to meet Justin. We waited half and hour in the arena (Bell Center) and we saw Kenny! Then, we went downstairs. I was so excited, I was shaking, and I felt a little dizzy. Dan Kanter passed beside us a couple times and said hi to us! We waited a whole hour there. When the people in front of were meeting Justin I was seriously freaking out. I looked to my left, and I saw Jeremy, Jaxon and Jazzy! They were so cute. Then, the bodyguard told me it was our turn. Justin was behind curtains. I remained frozen for like 2 seconds and then I realized that I had to be fast if I wanted to be beside him, so I hurried next to him. We took the picture and I hugged Justin. The meeting was only like 30 seconds but it was the best 30 seconds in my entire life! I cried so much after that. Justin’s show was perfect, he loves being on stage – it’s obvious. Before the show, a commercial for Just Dance 4 passed on the big screen. We saw our video! In the video, Justin said “Alright, this is good! Nice synchronization” We were so happy that Justin saw our video. During the concert after ‘Boyfriend,’ the whole arena screamed for more than a minute, so loud that Justin couldn’t talk. He looked speechless. We also saw his beautiful abs during ‘ALAYLM’ and ‘Believe.’ Later that night, Dan tweeted that we were the loudest audience he had ever seen. November 26 th was the best day in my entire life. I wish I could go back in time. I love him so much. -Roxanne (@Roxe145) Read more here: I have loved Justin since ‘One Time,’ but I’ve only been a true…

Wow, I cannot believe I am finally able to write one of these…

Wow, I cannot believe I am finally able to write one of these things. I used to be so envious of all the other girls who were able to write Bieber experiences. Now I am one of those beliebers. My Bieber fan journey started way back in October 2009. Justin meant the world to me and I spent the majority of my time watching his videos, looking at pictures, and talking to my Twitter friends. Without going into detail, I tried multiple times to see Justin live. I was never able to. Finally, when the Believe tour dates came out, my mom finally allowed me to get tickets. However, Ticketmaster failed me. I was used to the let down. I, yet again, wouldn’t be seeing Justin Bieber live in concert. As October came around, I realized there was a month until Justin’s concert in New Jersey. I had to get to that concert. I asked my mom numerous times and hinted to let me buy tickets off Stubhub (or wait outside the venue with the hopes of getting tickets from Alfredo, Allison, Scooter, etc.). The concert was on Friday, November 9. My mom finally agreed to buying tickets off Stubhub the Tuesday before the concert. On Wednesday, my dad said he’d bring my friend and I. I was so beyond happy. I was finally going to see Justin Bieber live. It was going to be from nosebleed seats, but with complete honesty I did not care one bit. All I had to do was buy the tickets Thursday night and I would be seeing my idol live, finally. On Thursday at 4:07 p.m., I tweeted “Absolutely nothing could ruin my mood. NOTHING.”  Thursday at 4:30 was when everything changed. Thirty minutes before I was going to purchase tickets, a FedEx man arrived at my house with an envelope. It was addressed to me. I was clueless as to what it was, but I opened it. All there was inside was a yellow paper folded in thirds. I was so confused. Until I saw tickets sticking out of the paper. I pull the tickets out and all I see is ”JUSTIN BIEBER, IZOD CENTER” and I completely freaked out! I had no idea how or why or where I got these tickets from. It was a miracle, a gift from God. I looked at the yellow paper and it said “Ubisoft Just Dance to Justin Sweepstakes- CONGRATULATIONS!” I started pacing around the room saying oh my God a thousand times. My older sister was sitting there watching this whole thing unfold. She looked at the paper and said, “Mary, you didn’t read this whole thing.” I looked at the paper and saw ”Meet and Greet” and that is when I lost it. I was shaking and crying. I had no idea what to do. This was a miracle. I checked my email for a Congratulations email. And there was one I received 6 days beforehand saying that I had to respond by November 5 or I forfeit the prize. The reason I didn’t see the email is because I was out of power for 10 days (October 29 til November 7) from Hurricane Sandy. I emailed them that and they completely understood and said my prize was definitely still valid. Wow, this is really happening.  A week before I was nervous as hell about asking my mom if I could get tickets. Two days before I didn’t even have tickets. But then out of no where, I was going to MEET Justin Bieber. I was going to meet my idol. We got to the venue around 3:20 and eventually got our wristbands to meet Justin. We “had” to be in a group of 6 so we asked these 4 other ladies to join us. It turned out they were apart of the marketing team for Justin’s perfume. They were so awesome and sent my friend and I both 6 bottles of perfume including Someday and Girlfriend!  After waiting on line to meet Justin for a little while, it was our turn next. My friend and I were freaking out. I could not believe Justin Bieber was right behind that black curtain. Kenny was standing there  and I managed to say ”Hi Kenny!” and Kenny said “Hey, how you doing?” As soon as Kenny pulled back that black curtain and I saw Justin for the first time ever, I couldn’t believe my eyes. I can’t even explain the thoughts running through my head. I know everyone says this, but he looked absolutely FLAWLESS.  I could not fathom the fact that I was seeing in person the boy I’ve been a fan of for so long, the boy in the posters on my wall, and the boy I’ve watched thousands of videos of.  Justin held out his arms for us to get next to him. I don’t even know how, but I said hi to Justin and then said- ”This is my first time seeing you in 3 years.” And he looked down at me and said “This is MY first time seeing you in 3 years.” Basically, my heart melted. We took the picture. And as the rest of my group was leaving I said, ”Can I have a hug?” and Justin said, “Yeah, here!” We hugged and then I walked out. It was the greatest experience of my life and I am truly, truly blessed that my dream came true. We eventually got to our seats and man, we were sooo close. I yet again could not believe I was finally seeing Justin Bieber in concert that closely. It was absolutely perfect. Saying Justin put on an amazing show is an understatement. He’s a fantastic performer and I cannot wait to see him live again.  Honestly, to all Beliebers trying to meet Justin or get tickets, NEVER SAY NEVER! I don’t know a more true saying than that. You just have to wait for your time to come, and it will. I waited for 3 years! I cried so many times because I couldn’t see him. But finally, all my tears and dedication has paid off. I figured meeting him would never happen, at least not any time soon, so I settled for finally seeing him live. I never in a million years thought I would be able to say, ”I JUST MET JUSTIN BIEBER.”  I lived my dream and it was the greatest, most magical experience ever. Trust me, your time will come. Always believe, always fight for what you want, and always never say never. And to Justin- Thank you for being you. Thank you for teaching me and all your fans to never say never and to believe in our dreams. Because of the incredible experience I had, I truly know what you mean by “never say never.” It still doesn’t feel real or like it happened. Thank you for being the biggest inspiration out there. You’re a fantastic role model, a great person, and super talented.  Thank you for everything. Even for things I cannot explain. I love you so much. For Christmas my siblings got me tickets to see Justin again on July 31. I know it won’t compare to my experience in November, but I cannot wait. It’s going to be fantastic. -Mary (@xlovemaryjay) Here is the original post: Wow, I cannot believe I am finally able to write one of these…

Jennifer Lawrence: Addicted to Reality TV, Junk Food

Reasons number 450 and 451 we absolutely love Jennifer Lawrence: She’s addicted to junk food and reality TV, just like the rest of us! [NOTE: These Jennifer Lawrence bikini photos are also reasons] The breakout star of The Hunger Games and surefire Oscar nominee for Silver Linings Playbook says of her L.A. apartment, “It’s like a reality TV show cave.” “I just learned how to work TiVO. That changed my life.” That was a pretty awesome invention, agreed. Jen tells Marie Claire that her favorite nights involve just having friends over. What does she serve up when she’s entertaining? “Junk food, of course!” The Kentucky-born actress calls herself “old lady” who has no interest in the Hollywood party scene: “After it’s 11, I’m like, ‘Don’t these kids ever get tired?'” “When I’m out, I think about my couch.” “Like, ‘It would be awesome to be on it right now. I bet there’s an episode of Dance Moms on. Am I missing a new episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians ? ” “I’m just stressed by the idea of missing them.” “Reality TV is my silver lining,” she jokes. “At the end of the day there’s probably nothing that makes me feel better than junk food and reality TV.” Amen, Jen. Amen.

R.I.P.: 12 Stars We Lost in 2012

A look back at this epic year in celebrity news would not be complete without reflecting upon some of the brightest stars who said goodbye to us in 2012. Here are 12 of the most notable pop culture figures – from singers to actors to authors and even historical figures – who passed away this year: Donna Summer – Last Dance 12. Donna Summer , disco’s queen, became synonymous with an entire genre of music with hits like “Love to Love You Baby” and “Last Dance.” 11. Ray Bradbury was an author ahead of even his sci-fi time. 10. Jenni Rivera . The popular Mexican singer-actress was taken from us – and her family – far, far too soon this month in a tragic plane crash. 9. Larry Hagman . Dallas star was the original TV villain. 8. Mitchell Guist . The Swamp People star attracted an enormous following thanks to his reality show, and the reaction to his passing was immense. 7. Nora Ephron ‘s screenplays – When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle – have been often imitated but never duplicated in modern cinema. Phyllis Diller Standup 6. Phyllis Diller hilariously made herself the butt of her own jokes, but more importantly shattered the glass ceiling of comedy over a decades-long career. 5. Don Cornelius ‘ Soul Train didn’t just provide great music, it empowered a black audience and informed a white audience in a vast cultural experience. 4. Steve Sabol may not be a household name, but the NFL Films founder forever changed the way we watch the most popular sport in America. 3. Neil Armstrong & Sally Ride , the first man on the moon and first woman in space, were both pioneers outside of our atmosphere and inspirations on Earth. 2. Dick Clark may not have invented popular music, the American teenager or New Year’s Eve, but he left an indelible mark on all of the above. Whitney Houston National Anthem: The Best Ever 1. Whitney Houston ‘s final years were not what millions of fans would have hoped for, but her legacy and the power of her voice never diminished. These are just a dozen of the memorable figures we bid farewell to, of course. Share the names and memories of these and others you will miss below!

Demi Moore is a Girl Gone Wild in Miami

Demi Moore is down in Miami this week partying it up for Art Basel. Moore has been spotted at various parties with rumored boy-toy Vito Schnabel , 26 and exhibiting in heavy PDA. Moore, who just turned 50, was seen rocking out with Lenny Kravitz and Stacy Keibler at the Chanel Beach party. The actress was spotted throwing back Red Bulls and grinding on the dance floor. According to the NY Post, earlier in the evening Moore picked up a stray kitten outside of the Soho Beach House. She toted the cat to the Chanel dinner and stroked it throughout the meal. We’d comment but the cougar jokes have already written themselves. Moore has had a rough year including a stint in treatment and divorce proceedings with ex Ashton Kutcher .

WATCH: Noomi Rapace Doesn’t Move Anything Like Jagger In New Rolling Stones Video

Ahem. So, if you could just take your eyes off Noomi Rapace’s  naked breasts for a damn second, I’d like to ask you a question. Is it me  or is the Prometheus   star a terrible dancer?   Compelling actor, yes — with a face that demands my attention every time she’s on screen. But check out that weird kind of heaving motion she makes when she’s imitating Mick Jagger in Jonas Akerlund’s music video for “Doom and Gloom.”  What the hell is that? I mean, every two-bit stand-up comic beginning with Richard Belzer (remember when he was funny?)  can imitate Jagger’s rooster strut, but Rapace seems to be having a hard time even getting in sync with the music. (In a way, I  don’t blame her. This song may be on the band’s latest greatest hits collection, but it ain’t great, even if it becomes a hit.) And then there’s that Flashdance -like scene where you can’t really tell if it’s her or a stand-in.  (Have You Seen Your Stand-In Baby, Standing in the Shadow?)   Maybe that’s some kind of ironic take on the fact that Jennifer Beals had a stand-in for her dance scenes in the original. The quick-cutting is another clue.  You would think that shots of Rapace dancing in a Stones video would be a selling point. Okay, maybe not as big a draw as her bare breasts, but sensual enough that the camera would be lingering a little longer as she lets her freak flag fly. Unless it was a little too freaky. What do you think?  Let me know in the comments section. Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter. Follow Movieline on Twitter.
