Hope Solo: Nude For ESPN Magazine!

Hope Solo is not sexy. Her words, not ours. “I still don’t buy the idea that I’m a sex symbol,” the 30-year-old soccer star tells ESPN magazine in its annual Body Issue , which features her nude on the cover. “Sure, I’ve had marriage proposals, invitations to military balls and prom offers. But my entire purpose is trying to be the best, and if that exudes beauty too … it means the image of the typical female body type is finally evolving.” As an international soccer star, Olympic gold medalist and Dancing With the Stars hopeful (Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s dream partner in fact), Hope is riding high these days. That wasn’t always the case for the athlete. “Growing up, I felt insecure about my build,” adds the 5’9″, 150-lb. Solo. “Guys would say, ‘Look at those muscles! You can kick my ass!’ I didn’t feel feminine.” “But that’s changed in the last four years.” What do you think of Hope Solo’s ESPN Magazine cover? Cheap gimmick or sending a positive message about body image? Share your comments with us below.

Kristin Cavallari on Dancing With the Stars Elimination: Clearly It’s Not a Dance Competition!

Kristin Cavallari was surprisingly eliminated from Dancing With the Stars this week. She’s taking it pretty well, but that doesn’t mean she’s not surprised and upset. The 24-year-old scored high marks and praise from the judges, tallying 24 out of 30 points Monday. But despite finishing tied for third (out of 10), she’s out the door. “I’m really sad,” Kristin Cavallari admitted. “But, I’d rather go out on top and have people be shocked than be like, ‘Thank god she’s leaving, it’s about time.'” “It was the best experience I’ve ever had. I could not be happier.” As for why she was voted off? “It is what it is,” she laughed . “That’s the thing with Dancing with the Stars , you never know. It’s clearly not a dance competition!” Sentimental favorite Chaz Bono, whose mom Cher vowed to cheer him on in person next week if her son made it, survived despite a second straight week in last. Despite her own elimination, Cavallari is definitely on Team Chaz: “Chaz is so cute! I think he’s great and he tries so hard, and I loved watching him dance every week. It’s inspiring, and it’s sweet, and I hope he does really well!” The week was also a net positive for Kristin. Jay Cutler , who cheered her on during Monday’s show, has reportedly reconciled with the former star of The Hills . What do you think? Did Kristin deserve to be voted off?

Dancing With the Stars Results Surprise: Who Got the (Undeserved) Chop?!

With Chaz Bono in last place for the second consecutive week on Dancing With the Stars, and by a large margin no less, we thought his run on the show was over. We thought wrong. Chaz and Lacey Schwimmer ended up with the lowest score of the week Monday – 18 points – well behind the next lowest stars, Carson Kressley and Nancy Grace. When the audience’s votes were factored in along with the scores, the show’s first transgendered contestant was spared. But what about those other two? Carson Kressley was in fact in the bottom three, but he was there along with the beautiful-but-boring Kristin Cavallari and Hope Solo, not Nancy Grace . That’s DWTS for you. Week after week, it’s anyone’s game. So who got the axe among these three competitors when the week’s results were unveiled? Follow the jump to find out … Kristin Cavallari , despite a solid score of 24 that tied for third place Monday, couldn’t muster the votes to stay. Is America just not a fan of her or The Hills? “This is truly crazy,” head judge Len Goodman said of the Dancing With the Stars results, which prompted some booing in the audience. “It’s just madness.” “I’m a little surprised to be honest but I’ve had such a great time and it’s been an awesome experience,” said Kristin, who was cheered on by Jay Cutler . “I was really proud of Kristin,” her partner Mark Ballas said. “She had great potential and she absolutely killed it last night. I’m honored to be her partner.” Do you agree with Kristin’s elimination? It is, after all, America’s call. The scores do carry weight, but only partially. She didn’t close the deal with voters. Did Kristin Cavallari deserve to be voted off DWTS?

Elisabetta Canalis on Dancing With the Stars Elimination: Maybe It’s Not My Thing …

The season’s second Dancing with the Stars results show dealt viewers somewhat of a surprise when it was revealed that Elisabetta Canalis was ousted. George Clooney’s ex isn’t complaining or making excuses, though. “Maybe dance isn’t my thing. I’m not going to lie,” the Italian actress told People backstage after being eliminated Tuesday night. “This show was challenging for me because I had to learn how to ballroom dance.” “I’ve never done it before. I hope to have learned something.” Canalis’ partner Val Chmerkovskiy stood tall by his pr

David Arquette and Chaz Bono join George Clooney’s ex in bottom three. By Kelley L. Carter Elisabetta Canalis Photo: ABC Networks In the final minutes of Tuesday night’s “Dancing With the Stars” elimination show, it was George Clooney’s ex-girlfriend who was given the boot. Elisabetta Canalis and her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, were eliminated after landing in the bottom three alongside David Arquette and Kym Johnson and Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer. The Italian actress and host seemed a bit jarred when it was revealed she was the contestant leaving in week two, considering that she and her partner had impressed the judges with a big improvement from last week . “I’m not going to say much. I’m just going to say this: It’s not great, but it was better than last week,” head judge Len Goodman said before scoring her Monday. Tonioli disagreed, saying, “The gears were grinding, the engines were hot. The pistols were pumping. Keep working.” Canalis ultimately scored 21 out of 30, which placed her right in the middle of the pack and above Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Arquette and Johnson, Carson Kressley and Anna Trebunskaya and Bono and Schwimmer. Canalis, who looked to be holding back tears, expressed how much she enjoyed her short time on the show: “I want to thank everybody, because they made me come here! Thanks to the public and everybody who voted for us. It was a great experience.” Chmerkovskiy, a newcomer who also is Maksim’s younger brother, said he was very proud of his celeb partner. “I wish I did better for you. But I’m very lucky to be here,” he said. Were you surprised to see Elisabetta go? Let us know in the comments!

Dr. Conrad Murray Trial Begins; Defense Tells Jury Michael Jackson Killed Himself

In his opening statement in the the involuntary manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, attorney Ed Chernoff told the jury Michael Jackson killed himself. Earlier, prosecutor David Walgren delivered the state’s opening argument, using a stark visual of what appears to be Jackson’s lifeless body on a gurney. Below are summaries of the opening arguments laid out by both sides: L.A. County D.A.’s office prosecutors argued this morning that … Michael Jackson fully trusted Dr. Conrad Murray with his life The cause of death was an overdose of Propofol, administered by Murray Murray repeatedly acted with both gross negligence and incompetence Murray bought very large quantities of Propofol on a regular basis Murray knew Michael’s state and what he was doing to the singer In the weeks before Michael died, he was cold, shivering and rambling (Kenny Ortega will testify to this) but Murray kept giving him Propofol Murray scolded Ortega for expressing concerns about Jackson’s health, saying “Michael is physically and emotionally fine. I am the doctor.” Michael died in his bed and was dead when paramedics arrived Murray was texting and making phone calls while he sat by MJ He made eight phone calls on June 25, 2009, the last at 11:51 to a girlfriend, and that’s when Murray realized there was an emergency Murray instructed bodyguard Alberto Alvarez to essentially hide evidence in a blue bag – possibly including the fatal dose of Propofol Murray never told EMTs or UCLA doctors he gave MJ Propofol His guilty conscience caused him to stall the investigation Murray committed “medical abandonment” of Michael Jackson by leaving a patient unattended while under anesthetic in this manner Conrad Murray acted with gross negligence and was not acting in Jackson’s best interests, but rather his own $150,000/month salary Michael Jackson Recording at Dr. Conrad Murray Trial Then it was time for the defense to lay out its theory. They claim: Michael Jackson swallowed 8, 2 mg pills of Lorazepam, then self-injected a dose of Propofol that created a “perfect storm” that killed him There was no way to save Jackson, who died instantly Jackson “had a problem” that no amount of determination could overcome, even with his talent, and was in a deteriorated state for years Dr. Murray is a good man, a cardiologist who saves lives Murray had no idea at the time he was brought on that MJ had so many severe medical problems, including a total inability to sleep Michael Jackson told Murray that the only way he could sleep was with Propofol and always took Propofol, even before hiring Murray Murray provided Propofol for two months for MJ, and during that time the singer slept, woke up, and lived life as he always did Murray was trying to ween MJ off Propofol and give him other, more traditional sedatives in the days before he died – with some success With execs threatening to “pull the plug” on his “This Is It” tour, MJ made it clear to Murray that he needed to sleep or the tour would fail Murray only gave Jackson 25 milligrams of Propofol before MJ died – not enough to kill him. MJ went to sleep with a normal pulse rate When Murray left the room, “there was zero Propofol in his [Michael’s] system” … implying Michael woke up and shot himself up with the fatal dose when Murray was gone, which he also claims wasn’t negligent Dr. Arnold Klein got Jackson hooked on Demerol Murray hid nothing from doctors or police We’re just getting started, but right now … what do you think? Do you buy the defense theory? Based on this, tell is if you think Murray is …

Nancy Grace on DWTS Nip Slip: Only Jiggling!

Dancing With the Stars viewers who tuned in last night probably didn’t do so in hopes of seeing a Nancy Grace nipple slip , but that’s reality TV for you. She was clearly spilling out of her dress, although she sought to downplay it today. The 51-year-old told Us Weekly backstage after Monday’s show: “Tonight, when we were doing our hopscotch portion of our dance, there was a little bit of movement but it did not rise to a wardrobe malfunction.” The buxom Casey Anthony hater showed more than she bargained for. As ABC quickly cut away to a static shot of the audience, Grace readjusted her dress and buried her face in partner Tristan MacManus’ shoulder. “On the European version that would be perfectly fine,” host Tom Bergeron joked. “We took every precaution known to man in this dress right here,” Grace said. “I’m talking industrial size precaution. There may have been, as Tristan said, a little bit of jiggling but there was absolutely not a wardrobe malfunction.” Riiight. You be the judge: Nancy Grace on Dancing With the Stars (Week 2)

Kristin Cavallari Sizes Up ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Rivals

‘No one’s bad!’ reality star tells MTV News at ‘DWTS’ rehearsal. By Kelley L. Carter, with reporting by Matt Elias Mark Ballas and Kristin Cavallari Photo: MTV News Kristin Cavallari knows she has her work cut out for her on “Dancing With the Stars,” but it sounds like she’s up for the challenge. On Monday’s show, Cavallari vamped it up in her Hollywood-glam interpretation of the quickstep. Dressed in a sexy, long and flowy white gown — reminiscent of siren Marilyn Monroe — the reality star made a tremendous improvement from her first week’s performance, the judges enthused. In her rehearsal for this week’s dance, MTV News caught up with Cavallari and her partner, Mark Ballas, who sized up their competition. They both said everyone brought their own talents to the table and they are on the lookout for them all. “No one’s bad!” Cavallari said. “That’s the thing. I think it’s going to be a tough season.” Last week, the 24-year-old former “Hills” and “Laguna Beach” star wowed the judges when she shook her way through the cha-cha. This week, she earned 22 out of 30 points — the second-highest score behind Ricki Lake — in addition to some pretty meaty praise from the trio of judges. “I’ve been bedazzled by the blond bombshell! I love old, Hollywood glamour! This performance was twinkling with pleasure,” Bruno Tonioli gushed. Carrie Ann Inaba added: “Last week, nervous; this week, stunning! You kept your hold, you kept your frame. I thought it was gorgeous!” Who do you think is Kristin’s toughest competition on “Dancing With the Stars”? Let us know in the comments!
