Be afraid, Sean Lowe. Be very afraid. Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jacoby Jones danced his way to the Super Bowl XLVII title this month. Now he’ll be going Dancing With the Stars on ABC! Jones will be on the 16th season of the ABC dancing competition, which announced his casting. The rest of the cast will be unveiled Tuesday on GMA . The show returns March 18, a week after The Bachelor finale (follow this link for The Bachelor spoilers ) starring Lowe, who’s also rumored to be joining DWTS . Jones, 28, scored two amazing TDs in the Super Bowl. Now he’s ready to add the Mirror Ball to his trophy case a la Emmitt Smith and Hines Ward. Sounds like he’s up for the challenge , too. Asked on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this month if he wanted to be on the new season’s cast, Jones said, “Oh yes sir … I’ll get it done. I’ll get it done, baby.” Aly Raisman, you are on notice.
Turns out Mama June ain’t the only reality TV chubby lumpkins who has been losing weight. Via People reports : The former Dancing with the Stars contestant, 43, has already dropped 43 lbs. since announcing his public mission to lose 50 lbs. beginning in mid-November. He’s now upped his goal to dropping a total of 80 lbs. “I’ve been sticking to a really strict diet,” he tells PEOPLE. “It’s not any type of starvation thing. I’m just cutting out a lot of stuff and eating primarily protein and vegetables and fruit.” Bono, who weighed 250 lbs. pre-diet, first addressed his goal publicly with Dr. Travis Stork on an episode of The Doctors, after being approached by the show to get help. “That episode was the most uncomfortable I’ve ever been on television in my life,” Bono admits. “I had been wanting to lose weight. It was something I had been trying to do and failing at. This opportunity just kind of came in, and my initial reaction was ‘absolutely not.’ And after that, the more I thought about it, I realized I’ve been wanting to deal with this issue and somebody’s willing to help me do it, so I decided to throw my pride away and get help.” The initial weight-loss process actually wasn’t too challenging. He shed the pounds with the help of exercise and the Freshology delivered-meal plan. “It hasn’t been that long, but when you’re a guy and you’ve got a lot of weight to lose, the initial stuff comes off pretty easily,” says Bono, who’ll return to The Doctors Wednesday to show off his weight loss. (check local listings). “You start to see results and you want to keep going. It’s not to say you don’t have cravings sometimes, but I’m very happy with how I’m looking and feeling. Especially when I’m traveling or I have to go out to eat or whatever, it’s actually kind of easier than I thought to [eat healthy], so that’s been good.” But now, the pounds aren’t coming off as easily. “It’s getting harder,” he explains. “I’m just kind of at a little plateau right now, which I think is pretty normal, according to my doctor. The weight was falling off at first, and now it’s just coming off slower. The smaller you are, the harder it is to lose weight. The last 10 or 20 lbs. are really hard to get off. I would like to lose more than that. I’m still dropping, but I’m just not dropping like I was in the beginning, which was about 4 lbs. a week.” Despite the lull in his weight loss, Bono is continuing along strong with his journey. “There haven’t really been any bad parts to this so far, except certain stuff that I miss eating,” he says. “But ultimately, I would much rather look and feel better than eat those things. Everything else has been really great. I feel better and when I look in the mirror, I like what I see better.” But when it comes to offering guidance to others going through the same thing, Bono will steer clear. “I don’t want to ever be that guy [to give advice],” he says. “I’ve struggled with weight my whole life. I don’t ever want to be the guy to say, ‘Just do this.’ For me, it was finally getting to a place where I was willing to do whatever it took to deal with this. When you get to that point, then whatever way you choose to do it, it’s going to work.” And Bono is adamant about keeping it off. “I’m willing to kind of never eat the things I like again,” he said with a laugh. “Never say never, and I know it happens a lot, but I really want to do everything I can to avoid gaining it back. I’m not going into it thinking I’m going to do that. I’m going into it thinking I’m too old to [expletive] around with that. I need to keep my weight down, moving forward, in order to be healthy. Seeing Dave Grohl and his Foo Fighters play searing rock ‘n’ roll with onetime teen idol Rick Springfield wasn’t exactly on my bucket list prior to Friday night’s epic Sound City Players concert, but I will die a happier man now that I’ve witnessed such an unexpected — and unexpectedly thrilling — team up. Springfield’s set with Grohl and the Foos was the high point of a marathon concert that featured performances by a slew of musical artists who appear in Sound City because of their connection to the now-defunct studio. Among them were Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman John Fogerty, Stevie Nicks, Fear leader Lee Ving , Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen, Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk, Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Alain Johannes, Slip Knot’s Corey Taylor, Masters of Reality’s Chris Goss and former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic , who got a hug from Grohl when he took the stage. Instead of a tightly curated series of group singalongs, the show became a sprawling series of mini-concerts that focused on the work of the artists who were on stage at that time. For instance, Nielsen’s time on stage saw the band — with Grohl on drums, Novoselic on bass and Slipknot’s Taylor on vocals — do spirited versions of Cheap Trick’s “Ain’t That A Shame” and “Surrender,” the latter with the participation of the well-lubricated crowd , which offered up the “Mommy’s all right, Daddy’s all right, they just seem a little weird,” portion of the chorus. Springfield’s set resonated even more with Sundancers judging from how violently their dancing and jumping shook the club’s floor. It was an extended moment of pure rock bliss in which all the labels that get applied to music in terms of what’s cool (Foo Fighters) and what’s not (Rick Springfield) fell away and infectious, enduring pop music was celebrated for its essence. Grohl introduced the former General Hospital actor as “the one, the only, fucking Rick Springfield,” and the band played together on a number of the former pop star’s 1980s radio hits, “I’ve Done Everything For You,” “Love Is Alright Tonite” and “Jessie’s Girl.” And watching the beatific look on punk pioneer-turned-Foo-Fighter Pat Smear’s face as he played along to these Top 40 hits was indisputable proof that a good song is a good song. As Grohl said archly between songs: “You’ve cracked the code, Rick Springfield. You’ve figured out how to write the perfect song. Goddamn you.” Meanwhile, Springfield rose to the occasion of playing with one of the most balls-out rock bands in show business. In Sound City , he reveals somewhat sheepishly that Pat Benatar’s husband Neil Giraldo was pulled into the recording studio to lay down the famous guitar riff to “Jessie’s Girl” because the song’s producer didn’t think Springfield’s playing was up to snuff.” But that humiliation was very much in the past at Friday’s concert. Onstage at Park City Live, Springfield behaved like a bona fide guitar god as he traded licks with Grohl. The Foo Fighters and their enthusiastic leader would play on long after Springfield left the stage — and a remark by one of the evening’s grizzled rock veterans put the concert and the movie that spawned it in perspective. John Fogerty was the next-to-last guest star on stage, and during a set that included CCR’s “Born on the Bayou,” “Bad Moon Rising” and “Fortunate Son,” he told the crowd that the Sound City documentary and concert had come together because of Grohl’s “almost child-like love of music.” May he stay forever young.
