Chelsie Hightower narrowly avoided falling out of her outfit Monday night on Dancing With the Stars. She held it together in more ways than one, however. The right shoulder strap of Hightower’s bird costume starting slipping down, but she managed to pull it back up during the dance and end on a high note. “All together there?” host Tom Bergeron asked as Hightower, 22, as she and Fegan, 20, ended the routine. “Part of that costume almost flew the coop!” Roshon Fegan & Chelsie Hightower – Salsa (DWTS Week 5) Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli kept their comments focused on Fegan’s exceptional salsa, calling it “sexy” and “unbelievable.” Fegan says he looked to contestant/Cuban heartthrob William Levy for inspiration for his sexy moves, and it appears be chose role models wisely. Levy topped the week’s Dancing With the Stars scores with 29 (as did Katherine Jenkins), while Roshon and Chelsie landed in a solid fifth place with 26.
The 14th season of Dancing With the Stars, as evenly-matched as it is entertaining thus far, rolled into its fifth week Monday with the top nine going ALL out. Last week, which saw a nasty head injury to Melissa Gilbert and the elimination of Sherri Shepherd , did not lack for drama. What would this week’s act bring? A lot of strong performances from a group of engaging characters capable of some high quality dancing. for sure. They always leave you wanting more! Sadly, someone must leave each week. Who will it be this time? Coming into the fifth week, the favorites (Donald Driver, Maria Menounos, William Levy and Katherine Jenkins) looked to bolster their frontrunner status. The rest of the pack (Gilbert, Gavin DeGraw, Roshon Fegan, Jaleel White and Gladys Knight) looked to make a move. How did they do? You tell us below. Who do you think will win Dancing With the Stars?
Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen is under fire over comments published last week in which he appeared to express his love for Cuban dictator Fidel Castro. Guillen, speaking in the Marlins’ dugout before today’s game at Philadelphia, said he plans to fly back to Miami tomorrow morning to face the media and public. He says he feels “guilty” and “embarrassed” and wants to address questions personally after sparking controversy with his remarks to Time magazine. “I want to make everything clear what’s going on. Then people can see me and know what I think,” Guillen said. “I think it’s the proper thing so people can see my eyes.” “I want to get the thing over with. I told the Marlins I want to fly (back) as soon as I can, and tomorrow’s a day off. I don’t want to (talk about it) in Philadelphia.” “I want to be in Miami and clear everything up.” “I want them to know I’m against everything 100 percent – I will repeat it again – the way this man (has been) treating people for the last 60 years.” “I want the people there. Whoever feels about it, ask me any questions. I want you to ask what you ask, because I feel bad? Yes. I feel embarrassed? Yes.” It remains to be seen if that will assuage the masses. A Cuban-American advocacy group in Miami, Vigilia Mambisa, has already called for him to be fired. Guillen told Time last week that he admires and respects Fidel Castro for staying in power so long. He then said he felt sick over the comments in print. He was self-aware enough to realize the response he’d get. “No, not really. I talked to the media already in Cincinnati about it, and I expected this was going to happen,” he said when asked if he was surprised. “I feel badly, because I don’t want to say (it was taken) out of context. I think it was kind of a cheap shot. But I’ve got to face it,” Guillen told reporters. “Like I said, I feel sad and (for) a couple days, I feel sick to my stomach, not because of what I did. Just because I know I hurt a lot of people.” The Marlins issued a statement clarifying that they have no respect for Castro, “a brutal dictator who has caused unthinkable pain for more than 50 years.”
Miley Cyrus is firing back at critics alleging she has an eating disorder after a recent Twitter pic sparked a great deal of speculation to that effect. Rumors that the 19-year-old might be anorexic were spawned after posting a photo of her and a bag from fast food chain restaurant Carl’s Jr. In a caption, she Tweeted , “I can’t eat it. So I’m just gonna smell the s**t out of it! My mouth is LITERALLY watering.” This was the photo: Recent Miley Cyrus pictures do show the star looking thinner than in the past, so it wasn’t totally off base, but she’s not starving herself, dudes. Chillax. Miley, no stranger to Twitter-induced controversy, was APPALLED that people would DARE interpret it that way and HAD to clarify matters … on Twitter. “For everyone calling me anorexic I have a gluten and lactose allergy,” she wrote. “It’s not about weight it’s about health. She’s preached it ever since her trip to rehab: it’s what inside that counts. It’s the real you that matters. And now Demi Lovato has put that philosophy into practice, posting a photo on Twitter of herself makeup-free, a rarity for celebrities. (Lady Gaga went a similar route late last month). Take a look for yourself: “I’m not always perfectly happy with my body,” Lovato said in a recent interview with WE7. “After all, I’m a woman and what woman is? But I make sure I tell myself that I’m beautiful and I tell myself daily affirmations, so I would recommend that to younger girls – and guys.” What do you think of Demi’s all natural look? The surprisingly entertaining and evenly-matched 14th season of Dancing With the Stars continued Monday with the top 10 performing Rock Week routines. The first elimination of the season, Martina Navratilova, we could see coming. Last week, which saw the end of Jack Wagner’s run , was a different story. A season that many criticized for lacking star power has made up for it with high quality dancing and engaging characters that all leave us wanting more. Sadly, someone must leave each week, though there is a new twist … For the next four weeks, the bottom two DWTS vote-getters will dance for their lives, simultaneously, with the judges making the final call on who stays and who goes. That won’t do much could in cases like last week, when a six-way tie for the lowest score – which was really quite high – made it unfair for anyone to leave. Still, the judges could bail out an obvious favorite if necessary. Will this rule change even come into play after this Monday’s routines? You tell us below … Who will win Dancing With the Stars?
The entire field did superbly on Dancing With the Stars last night, with every pairing within five points of the lead and five tied for the lowest score – a respectable 24. The downside? The entire field is basically at risk tonight. Somebody’s going home who probably doesn’t deserve it, but that’s the way it goes. If we had to guess, Katherine Jenkins, William Levy, Jaleel White, Donald Driver and Maria Menounos look safe. The rest? It’s anybody’s guess. Green Bay Packers star Donald Driver’s tribute to a friend who died of cancer was one of the emotional high moments of Dancing With the Stars this week. “I can never get it out of my mind,” the NFL player said. “He died right there in my arms. I grabbed his hand and all he could do is look up. He took another breath and that was it,” he added, tearing up. Like Katherine Jenkins ‘ dance for her late father, Driver’s effort with Peta Murgatroyd was somber, yet with ample energy and uplifting emotion: Donald Driver & Peta Murgatroyd – Rumba (DWTS Week 3) He carried her across a fog-filled dance floor and began a deliberate series of interpretive dance moves, at one point on his knees as she fell into his arms. Their routine concluded with Peta atop a staircase as if going toward the light. The judges expressed minor quibbles, but all praised Driver’s performance. With a strong 26 points, Donald and Peta ended the evening in sole possession of fourth place out of 11 pairings. They should be safe, don’t you agree?
