Chris Brown Studied Parkour, Martial Arts For ‘Takers’

‘We use different acrobatics and flips and stuff,’ singer/actor says. By Shaheem Reid Chris Brown Photo: MTV News If he were in singing mode, “Lamborghini Breezy” could have used his car to make a getaway. But as an actor in the film “Takers” (due Friday), Chris Brown had to go through days of rigorous running through the streets of Los Angeles during a climactic chase scene, in which he flees from actors Jay Hernandez and Matt Dillon. Brown’s character, who is part of a group of bank robbers, leaps on top of cars , scales buildings and jumps through windows. And fans may also notice a hint of parkour movement in Brown’s getaway tactics. “It was funny because in the beginning, a couple of weeks prior to me being on-set and filming the movie, I was already training with my friends, doing parkour and some martial arts stuff,” Brown recently explained. “We call it ‘trickin’.’ We use different acrobatics and flips and stuff. I always incorporate that in my dancing too. Being able to apply that to the movie was a step up on my entertainment value. It was great.” “I’ve never had to do so much running in my life,” Dillon said about the scene . “For that sequence, we were just, like, four days straight, just running through the streets, and this kid Chris is an unbelievable athlete. This guy Chris Brown, he’s unbelievable, man. So keeping up with him was a challenge even in itself, which was perfect for our characters.” Chris says that for the most part, when you look at the stunts he does in the film, you won’t be looking at some stuntman. “A big muscle dude with a different-shape head,” he joked of what his stuntman would look like. “For the most part, it was all me. “The most thrilling part about this movie is probably the stunts,” he said on the set. “I do, like, 96 percent of my stunts. Some stunts they wanna use the doubles; I don’t wanna use the double! And they’re like, ‘We have to for safety and insurance issues.’ I think the most exciting parts are the stunts, getting to blow stuff up, shoot guns, you know what I’m saying. It’s all fun!” Check out everything we’ve got on “Takers.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Shawty Lo Calls Off Engagement, Drops New Mixtape

‘I want a whole new look on everything I got going,’ he tells Mixtape Daily. By Shaheem Reid Shawty Lo Photo: MTV News Don’t Sleep: Necessary Notables Mixtape : Bowen Homes Carlos Headliner : Shawty Lo Key Cameos : “The Kitchen” (featuring Yo Gotti), “WTF” (featuring Lil Wayne) and “Say Yeah” (featuring Snoop Dogg) Essential Info : Shawty Lo is cleaning house. He phoned in Tuesday to discuss the changes he’s made in his life. First is his label: It will no longer be called D4L Records. “That’s my brand, that’s where I started from,” he said of D4L. “But I’m officially switching my label to 2610: BHF. ‘BHF’ meaning Bowens Home family. 2610 is [the address] where we started from, D4L.” Lo said the name D4L had a stigma to it that some didn’t take as seriously as he wanted. “I just want a fresh look,” he said. “I feel like I got a whole new movement. And I feel the D4L got a curse on it. People think it’s the dancing, the snap [music]. I just wanna get a whole new look. I had a 10-year relationship and everything. I want a whole new look on everything I got going.” That decade-long relationship to his love Ecreia Perez was highlighted by an engagement earlier this summer . But one month after he popped the question, Lo said he broke things off. “Things happen. I can’t point no fingers,” Lo said. “We were separated, the engagement lasted probably a month. It was a 10-year relationship, I love her still, but it’s time to move on. It’s over. I’m finnin’ to move on. I got everything new going for me.” Shawty won’t say exactly what led to their breakup, other than alluding to the fact that Perez disappointed him. “Something happened that I found out,” he said. “Me, being a man, you just can’t deal with certain stuff, put up with certain stuff. So, you know, it’s better for us to separate. I can’t talk about it. That my daughter’s mother. I got much respect for her. … [But] yeah, I’m single right now.” On Tuesday, Shawty put out his Gangsta Grillz mixtape, Bowen Homes Carlos. “It’s crazy, man,” he said. “It’s probably my biggest mixtape. I worked so hard on it. My projects, Bowen Homes, was tore down. ” ‘Tunnel Vision’ is crazy,” he added about the tape. “That’s one song I leaked by mistake, and it caught. ‘Tunnel Vision’ means I’m focused now. This is all I see, and I’m going forward. I just released another video on ‘Tunnel Vision.’ There was one that was released by Jordan Towers, it wasn’t official, but I appreciate him for doing that. ‘Dey Say Where You Been,’ that’s with me and Stuntman. It’s been out for a minute, but I had to put it out on my mixtape, because everywhere I go, they ask about Stuntman. ‘Amazing,’ that’s gonna be the crossover record. I kinda did the Auto-Tune thing, the T-Pain thing on there. If you listen to the first verse, I’m kinda talking about what happened in my relationship. But I’m amazing. Shawty L.O. is amazing. Bowen Homes Carlos is here, believe that.” Outside of his music, Shawty is releasing a cologne in about a month called Lo Seduction: “It’s a very nice smell for the men. It’s been something I’ve been working on for a little over a year now. It took 13 different smells to get it where I wanted it to be. It can go unisex.” Other Heat This Week

CNN’s Moos: Booing Scouts Weren’t ‘Courteous and Kind’ to President Obama

On Tuesday’s American Morning, CNN’s Jeanne Moos picked up on the viral video of Boy Scouts booing President Obama’s taped message to the recent National Jamboree, but got in a light jab at the youth for their behavior: “Booing would seem to go against some of the 12 tenets of Boy Scout Law. A Boy Scout is ‘trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind’- wait a minute, ‘courteous and kind’? ” The correspondent, known for her light reports for the network, concluded the 6 am Eastern hour with “unique take” on the video, as anchor John Roberts put it. Moos noted that “45,000 Scouts were celebrating the 100th anniversary of Scouting” in the United States at the Jamboree, which was held at the U.S. Army’s Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia, and that “two months earlier, the White House informed the Scouts that the President had prior commitments.” Moos continued that the “Scouts…booed the President’s message, and this 23-second video made its way on to conservative websites, which slammed the President for forsaking the Boy Scouts to appear on ‘The View.'” She later gave the Obama administration’s explanation for the apparent snub: “The White House says ‘The View’ had nothing to do with it- that the President was already scheduled to be on the road that day.” The CNN correspondent’s jab against the booing culprits, using two of the twelve points of the Scout Law , came near the end of the report. She added that “a statement from the Boy Scouts said the organization does not condone booing.” Moos concluded, “If the President’s watching this, the jamboree returns in four years.” In the past, Moos has hit subjects from both sides of the political spectrum. On the April 30, 2008 edition of American Morning, the correspondent devoted all but six seconds of a two-and-a-half minute report to “granny” supporters of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns. Later that year, during the Democratic National Convention, she highlighted the dancing antics of CNN’s liberal pundits . Just over a year ago, on August 4, 2009, Moos devoted an entire segment to the viral Obama as the Joker image . That December, the correspondent also exposed left-wing rage being directed at independent Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman. Most recently, during a June 22, 2010 report, she refreshingly spotlighted how the President frequently golfed during the oil leak disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. The full transcript of Jeanne Moos’s report from Tuesday’s American Morning: KIRAN CHETRY: Meantime, the Boy Scouts are voicing their displeasure with President Obama, claiming that he passed up an invitation to join their big jamboree to appear on ‘The View.’ JOHN ROBERTS: No one, though, was prepared for just how emotionally the Scouts would react, and here’s Jeanne Moos with her unique take on it. JEANNE MOOS (voice-over): It’s bad enough getting booed, whether you’re busted for dog fighting (crowd boos football player Michael Vick), or competing for Miss Universe- UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE ANNOUNCER: USA. (crowd boos) MOOS: But imagine getting booed by the Boy Scouts. (scouts boo as taped message of President Obama plays, from YouTube.com video) And the person they’re booing is the president of the United States. Actually, what they were booing was President Obama sending a taped message, rather than coming in person to the recent Boy Scout jamboree. UNIDENTIFIED MALE 1: Thanks for showing up! MOOS: Some 45,000 Scouts were celebrating the 100th anniversary of Scouting. Two months earlier, the White House informed the Scouts that the President had prior commitments. UNIDENTIFIED MALE 2: It doesn’t really bother me. UNIDENTIFIED MALE 3: Disappointed but, I mean- busy man. What can you do? MOOS: But just a few days after those interviews- PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: Scouts just like you- MOOS: Scouts just like these booed the President’s message, and this 23-second video made its way on to conservative websites, which slammed the President for forsaking the Boy Scouts to appear on ‘The View.’ OBAMA (from ABC’s ‘The View’): Thank you! MOOS: Some figured the booing tape was somehow doctored. (reading from website) ‘I don’t believe for one second that these 23 seconds of film is accurate.’ MOOS (on-camera): Believe it- some Boy Scouts booed.  (holding three fingers up in Scout Sign) Trust me, ‘Scout’s honor.’ MOOS (voice-over): The Boy Scout who shot it wouldn’t do an interview, but he told us that though he didn’t boo, there was a moderate amount of booing going on around him, mostly from Scouts annoyed, not because of the President’s policies, but because he didn’t show up as six previous presidents have. The White House says ‘The View’ had nothing to do with it- that the President was already scheduled to be on the road that day. JON STEWART (from Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show”): Look on the bright side. Boy Scouts will finally get their merit badge for crushing disappointment. Look- MOOS (on-camera): Now, on the face of it, booing would seem to go against some of the 12 tenets of Boy Scout Law. MOOS (voice-over): A Boy Scout is ‘trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind’- wait a minute, ‘courteous and kind’? (scouts booing, from YouTube.com video) A statement from the Boy Scouts said the organization does not condone booing. UNIDENTIFIED MALE 4: I hope you’re watching this! MOOS: If the President’s watching this, the jamboree returns in four years. OBAMA (from 2009 Inauguration): I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear- MOOS: That if re-elected, I will try to make it to the next jamboree. OBAMA: So help me God. MOOS: Jeanne Moos, CNN, New York.   ROBERTS: Some of the Boy Scouts not too happy about getting a taped message.

Kaskade And Dragonette Vocalist Team Up For ‘Fire In Your New Shoes’

‘I wanted somebody who was on the pop-electro sound already,’ Kaskade says of choosing Martina Sorbara as his collaborator. By Akshay Bhansali Kaskade Photo: MTV News Earlier this year, progressive house-music producer Ryan Raddon — known to his fans around the world as Kaskade — found himself body-checking pop-music goliaths when his album Dynasty debuted at #5 on the iTunes album download charts, knocking Justin Bieber out of the top 10 that week. The album spent three consecutive weeks in the top 10, an indicator of popular music’s current appetite for faster beats per minute as well as a credit to Kaskade’s own skills. And while Dynasty features a mainstream dance collaboration with Dutch music titan Ti

Family Guy’s ‘Down Syndrome Girl’ Song Gets Emmy Nod

“Down Syndrome Girl,” the unfunny and offensive Family Guy song poking fun at a female character with special needs, has been nominated for an Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics. The Feb. 14 Family Guy episode, which the song appeared in, sparked outrage after its premiere – most notably from former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin who has a son with Down syndrome. At one point in the episode, the character with Down syndrome said that her mom was “the former governor of Alaska,” a clear reference to Palin and her son, Trig. Palin quickly criticized the show for the distasteful jab at her son. “[W]hy make it tougher on the special needs community? When is enough enough? When are we going to be willing to say some things just aren’t really funny?” she said on Feb. 16. In the aftermath, many celebrities stood in agreement with Palin, including talk show host Joy Behar, the Daily Show’s Mo Rocca and comedian Jessica Kirson. But now the song is being nominated for an Emmy award, facing off against the much more tasteful musical numbers, “Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit” from “How I Met Your Mother,” and Saturday Night Live’s “Shy Ronnie.” New York magazine noted that the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics award has been “gaining a reputation as Emmy’s quiet nod to First Amendment rights.” Last year, the Justin Timberlake-Andy Samberg collaboration “Motherlover” won the award, and in 2007 the same two artists won for the song “Dick in a Box.” While both are fairly offensive in content, the lyrics are actually funny – and stop short of mocking people with disabilities. But many people argued that the lyrics of “Down Syndrome Girl” went too far. These are some lines from the song, as transcribed by the MRC’s Noel Sheppard: And though her pretty face may seem a special person’s wettest dream. You must impress that ultra-boomin’, all consumin’, poorly-groomin’, Down Syndrome girl. You want to take that little whore and spin her on the dancing floor. My boy between the two of us we’ll get her on the shorty bus and then you’re gonna take it on a whirl. Now go impress that super-thrilling, wish-fulfilling, YooHoo-spilling, ultra-swinging, boner-bringing, gayly-singing, dingalinging, stupefying, fortifying, as of Monday shoe lace-tying, stimulating, titillating, kitty-cat impersonating, mega-rocking, pillow talking, just a little crooked walking, poorly-pouting, poopie-sprouting, for some reason always shouting, fascinating, captivating, happiness and joy-creating, Down Syndrome girl. The Down syndrome episode wasn’t the first time the Family Guy’s offensive content generated controversy. The program’s creators also aired a show that staged “Terri Schiavo: The Musical” and another episode mocking Jewish people called “When You Wish Upon a Weinstein” that was banned from TV.

The world’s most useless person of the week: Sarah Palin

In a perfect world, Palin would have taken her rightful place as a historical footnote along with all the other has beens, also-rans, and never weres after the 2008 election. Maybe she could have extended her fifteen minutes into an early elimination in season 75 of Dancing with the Stars. link: http://www.bite.ca/bitedaily/2010/06/worlds-most-useless-person-of-the-week/ added by: romanswietlik

Chris Brown Melts Down During BET Awards Michael Jackson Tribute

Singer dances flawless but is overcome by emotion when time comes to sing. By Rochell Thomas Chris Brown at the 2010 BET Awards Photo: Frederick M. Brown/ Getty Images When Jamie Foxx, Ne-Yo and New Edition were performing tributes to Michael Jackson during last year’s BET Awards show, Chris Brown was nowhere to be found, even though many felt he was an obvious choice to honor the fallen legend. Brown’s assault on Rihanna several months earlier presumably kept him out of the show. On Sunday night (June 27), Brown finally got his chance to publicly honor the man he idolized — and while his dancing was flawless, when the time came for him to sing, he simply fell apart. After being introduced by Jermaine Jackson, Brown beautifully channeled Michael as he danced to “Remember the Time,” “Smooth Criminal” and “Billie Jean.” Yet when he grabbed a mic to sing “Man in the Mirror,” he choked up, visibly weeping. “I’m gonna make a change for once in my …” Brown’s voice trailed off. He was out of breath and sounded hoarse. Tears stained his cheeks as he paced the stage, holding the microphone by his side. “This … wind is blowing my … Who am I to…” He clearly knew the lyrics but they failed to come out. Brown faded in and out of the song, closing his eyes, grimacing, trying to soldier on. Whether it was the emotion of the moment or the past 16 months, Brown struggled and failed to find his voice, even though the pre-recorded backing vocals played on. Finally, he gave up, raised a bandaged finger to the sky and fell to his knees as Michael Jackson’s voice could be heard saying, “I’m starting with the man in the mirror.” The camera cut from Brown to an audience member who clearly uttered “Oh my God,” in shock. The audience loudly sang the words that Brown could not. Their aid seemed to move Brown to rise from his knees and mouth the words along with Jackson’s voice, while gesturing along with the mic as tears rolled down his face. In the audience, actress Taraji P. Henson could be seen mouthing, “That’s all right baby,” as Brown walked offstage to Jermaine Jackson, who moved to console him. Brown’s emotional performance echoed through the rest of the show. When Niecy Nash came onstage to present the Video of the Year award, she said, “When Chris Brown started crying I got choked up.” What did you think of Chris Brown’s Michael Jackson tribute at the BET Awards?
