Cha-Ching! Jessica Simpson will soon have more gwap to cop those precious lil headbands she likes so much for lil Maxwell Drew. People magazine will pay the first-time mom $800,000 to publish exclusive photos of Maxwell Drew Johnson, the pop star’s 2-week-old daughter with fiance Eric Johnson, Women’s Wear Daily reported Friday. Simpson, who gained at least 40 pounds during her pregnancy, also has reportedly inked a $3 million dollar deal to promote Weight Watchers. Though Maxwell may be worth her weight in gold, Simpson’s deal with People falls short of the $6 million the publication reportedly paid Jennifer Lopez for photos of her twins in 2008. Ouch, Max and Emme just made lil Maxie look like she ain’t doin’ isht when it comes to that magazine cover paper! Jessica should still be proud though, she’s probably going to make more off Maxwell’s birth than her last album. Source WENN

Cuz there are no paps in France, riiiiiiight? Halle Berry is reportedly even more anxious to move Nahla to Paris after a nasty confrontation with the razzi earlier this week. According to RadarOnline reports : Halle Berry is “more committed than ever” to moving her four-year-old daughter to France, following a nasty altercation with an over zealous and aggressive paparazzo, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting. The pressure that has been building over recent months reached boiling point for the 45-year-old actress this week when she arrived to pick up Nahla from school and ended up in a heated verbal battle with an angry photographer. The Catwoman star was swarmed by photographers and asked them get off the school property or she would call the police, reveals an eyewitness, prompting one snapper to snarl, “f**k off… you make millions and I have a right to make money too.” Halle became inflamed by the confrontation and began arguing with the photographer telling him, “Why don’t you go do an honest job and stop harassing me and my daughter?” A school official and another parent got drawn into the drama, and the police soon arrived to inform all of the paparazzi to leave the grounds and helped the Oscar winner safely escort Nahla to her car. “The school has only ever seen this type of chaos since Halle arrived with Nahla,” revealed a fellow parent, adding that even though there are other celebrity children who attend the school, they’ve only witnessed this type of aggression from the paparazzi towards Halle. One of the mothers revealed that after the photographers were forced to leave by police, Halle broke down in tears and sobbed that this is no way for Nahla to live, saying she does everything in her power to protect the little girl. In the past, friends have stated that Nahla is terrified when she sees the paparazzi anywhere and Halle has asked them to stop taking her picture and leave her alone. “They scream out her name constantly and say awful things about Halle in front of her,” said a pal. Halle is now “more committed than ever” to get Nahla away from Los Angeles the pal says, and as RadarOnline.com previously reported, this is the primary reason Halle has given for wanting to move to France with fiancé Olivier Martinez, because the paparazzi laws there offer more protection. We can understand Halle’s concern for Nahla, she’s doing what every mother should by protecting her child. But do you think maybe Nahla is just picking up on her mom’s anxiety? Does it seem like Halle is baiting these guys? It just seems crazy to move your whole family to France to get away from the paparazzi when most of her jobs are in L.A. and realistically, it’s not like she’ll never see another cameraman in Paris. What do you think?
Comedian-turned-director Bobcat Goldthwait has always displayed an incredibly dark sense of humor in his work behind the camera, from his 1991 alcoholic birthday party performer debut Shakes the Clown to bestiality-themed rom-com Sleeping Dogs Lie to World’s Greatest Dad , in which Robin Williams plays a high-school English teacher whose son’s death becomes a way for him to realize his unfulfilled dreams of being a writer. But no matter how black the comedy, these films had warmth to them, too, and the possibility of things getting better and characters, however painfully, changing and growing. That’s not the case in God Bless America , Goldthwait’s latest effort, an overly bleak film ready to write off the world and go down in a blaze of gunfire, both middle fingers raised. Joel Murray plays Frank, a divorced father and depressed office worker who gets laid off and diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor all in the same day, providing enough push for him to finally load up his revolver and set off on the murderous spree he’s been dreaming of for years. “I know it’s not normal to want to kill,” he muses in the opening voiceover, “but I also know that I am no longer normal.” When making his first hit, of a bratty teenage reality show star named Chloe (Maddie Hasson), he picks up a surprise sidekick named Roxy (Tara Lynne Barr), a smart, alienated high schooler who thinks that what Frank did is the best thing she’s ever seen. The two partner up and Bonnie and Clyde their way along a bloody road to nowhere while working out the logistics of who it is they’re targeting. Frank hates people who are inconsiderate, who are rude and who take pleasure in making fun of others. Roxy hates more specifically — NASCAR fans, people who high-five, Diablo Cody. As for who Goldthwait hates, you get the sense it’s all of the above and more — anyone who watches American Idol, anyone who competes on American Idol, morning show radio hosts, cable news blowhards, the Tea Party, parents who overindulge their children and people who talk during movies (the last leads to the film’s most rewarding scene). God Bless America sets these figures up to mow them down, and while there’s a minor satisfaction to be taken from seeing these bloody revenge fantasies brought to life — take that , Westboro Baptist Church! — the film’s judgments come so easily, its targets portrayed as so one-dimensional that it feels like a cheat. The world in which the film is set is so universally monstrous that it deserves to be blown up, but it’s an embittered, exaggerated take, a giant straw-man argument. When Frank flips on the television, all he sees are people making fun of a mentally disabled reality show contestant. When Frank gets the news of his illness, his doctor takes a call in the middle, from his car dealership. And when Frank tries to talk with his daughter about her upcoming weekend with him, she tries to extort a present from him in exchange for coming. It’s only Roxy to whom Frank can relate, with her kewpie doll face and ability to rant about the greatness of Alice Cooper. The scenes of Frank and Roxy hanging out are the film’s only soft spots, their relationship a gentle but precarious mix of paternal and platonically romantic. Roxy eggs Frank on and keeps him going, masterminding their murderous binge, but she’s rarely seems solid in the way that Frank does. She’s a figure of wish fulfillment, a vessel for what feel like the filmmaker’s direct complaints with the world as well as his fondnesses, a teenage girl who loves Star Trek and throws herself at our resistant protagonist, who is hypersensitive about being perceived as a pedophile. Visual inventiveness isn’t Goldthwait’s strong suit as a director, but God Bless America does represent a step forward there, with stand-out moments including an overhead shot showing just how close Frank is to his noisy neighbors or a failed attempt at walking away from an explosion, action hero-style, without looking back. Goldthwait is best and most brutal at recreating the worst of TV — an early scene in which the insomniac Frank flips through the channels includes savage and dead-on takes on Fox News, Jersey Shore -style reality clashes, energy drink commercials, Jackass and, yes, American Idol. Sure, it’s a line-up that would be enough to make you want to shoot somebody, but also those aren’t the only things on air. God Bless America only wants to see the worst in people — in fact actively seeks it out in order to be disgusted, and that feels almost as bad as the behavior the film is critiquing. One of the few characters who’s let off the hook is the boyfriend of Frank’s ex, a cheery, dumb and genuinely well-meaning cop who spots our hero waiting outside his former wife’s house and stops by to say hi. When asked by Roxy whether Frank wants to kill the man, he tells her no, “I want him to suffer.” It’s only a sucker who’d stick around to live life in this film, and that’s too bitter a pill to be swallowed. As an action star, Bruce Willis is used to eliciting certain sounds from an audience: ooohhh ! ahhhhh ! Look out !!! But we only have one reaction to the following photo: AWWWW ! Snapped and Tweeted by wife Emma Heming-Willis, the picture is of Bruce and his new daughter, Mabel Ray. She was born on April 1 . “A beautiful day in Budapest with the loves of my life. Daddy and Mabel cracking each other up,” Emma wrote of her man and her six-week old. At 57, Willis has three other, somewhat well-known daughters, all with Demi Moore: Rumer, 23, Scout, 20, and Tallulah, 18.
Rachel Ehmke, a Minnesota seventh grader, reportedly took her own life as a result of three months of cruel bullying at the hands of her classmates. Just 13, she was found hanged in her home on April 29 after suffering repeated abuse such as threats, being called a “slut,” “prostitute,” and worse. A text message allegedly circulated through the student body three days before her death, encouraging others to pick on her so she’d quit school. Rachel Ehmke Suicide Case Sparks Investigation The text, described by a parent as “pretty explicit,” came from a student at a different school, officials said. Regardless, it was too much for Ehmke. Her parents, Rick and Mary Ehmke, said Rachel – who pleaded with them not to report the bullying, so as not to inflame it – left a note that read: “I’m fine = I wish I could tell you how I really feel.” Somewhat surprisingly, Rick said he’s not going to pursue legal ramifications against those whose actions pushed his daughter over the edge. “They’re kids who made horrible decisions. If [they] would’ve known this would happen I’m pretty sure they never, ever would have done what they did,” her dad said. “Sadly enough, even those kids that know who they are will carry this baggage their whole life. That’s a sad thing too, it really is.”
Gabel reveals plans to Rolling Stone to take the name Laura Jane Grace after undergoing gender transition. By Katie Byrne Tom Gabel of Against Me! Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Against Me! singer Tom Gabel has come out as transgender and discussed plans to begin living as a woman in the next issue of Rolling Stone. Gabel, who will go by Laura Jane Grace and remain married to wife Heather, will undergo electrolysis treatments and take hormones to make the transition from male to female. “For me, the most terrifying thing about this was how she would accept the news,” Gabel told Rolling Stone of Heather. “But she’s been super-amazing and understanding.” Gabel has dealt with gender dysphoria for years and decided it was a good time to speak up about the private struggle, telling only a few family members and friends about the upcoming transition before talking with the magazine. “I’m going to have embarrassing moments, and that won’t be fun,” Gabel said of coming out. “But that’s part of what talking to you is about — is hoping people will understand, and hoping they’ll be fairly kind.” Though Gabel is the first major rock star to undergo a gender transformation, she’s hardly the first celebrity. Larry Wachowski, half of the Wachowski-brother directing duo behind the “Matrix” trilogy, has been credited as Lana Wachowki in recent work and seems to now identify as a woman, though neither sibling has spoken publicly on the subject. Chaz Bono, meanwhile, made a very public run on “Dancing With the Stars” as the first transgender contestant . Chaz, born the daughter of Cher and Sonny Bono, underwent female-to-male gender transition between 2008 and 2010. In the next issue of Rolling Stone, due Friday, Gabel will tell her full story, including what the revelation means for the future of Against Me! Related Artists Against Me!
Cate Edwards, the daughter of John Edwards, had to leave his trial on federal campaign violation charges yesterday after some upsetting revelations. She walked out of the courtroom, crying, as a witness started to describe an argument between her parents after a tabloid reported her dad’s affair. The former U.S. Senator faces charges of illegally using campaign contributions to cover up his affair with Rielle Hunter while running for president. Former Edwards aide Christina Reynolds testified about the day in 2007 when John and Elizabeth Edwards learned of the National Enquirer ‘s report. They were at the airport, and “Elizabeth was very upset… She was very vocal,” Reynolds said. “She stormed off and collapsed into a ball in the parking lot.” After aides helped Elizabeth Edwards get back to her feet and led her to a nearby restroom, “She seemed a little calmer,” said Reynolds, “then stormed out of the bathroom and tried to engage Mr. Edwards.” In an emotional outburst, Elizabeth reportedly told her husband, “You don’t see me any more,” and tore off her shirt and bra on the spot. John Edwards “didn’t have much of a reaction.” Elizabeth Edwards died in 2010 at age 61 after a long battle with breast cancer. Shortly before she passed, she left John, though they never divorced. John denied, adamantly, that he had an affair with Hunter, though he was later forced to admit it … as well as the fact that he fathered her love child. This was all too much for their daughter to take yesterday. After a brief recess, Cate Edwards, 30, a lawyer, returned to the courtroom. John Edwards, 58, faces up to 30 years in prison and up to $1.5 million in fines if convicted of the charges, which he adamantly denies. He admits myriad personal shortcomings, but denies diverting nearly a million dollars in campaign funds illegally for the Hunter cover-up. Former aide Andrew Young, who says he facilitated the cover-up, said Edwards called her a crazy slut when he learned Rielle was pregnant .
