March of the Penguin Suits: Red Carpet Oscar Fashion [Gallery]

The most important day in the gay calendar, Oscar Sunday is important not only for the glorious shining awards handed out to a lucky few. There’s also the dresses! Here are some red carpet low/highlights. All images via Getty Anna Kendrick doesn’t look like Fritzi anymore. Amanda Seyfried : “It’s that whole country club formal dinner napkin look that I’ve always loved.” Zoe Saldana : “I’m doing a whole ‘Under the Sea’ musical number with Vera Farmiga.” Vera Farmiga : “Yeah, I don’t know. I was drunk.” Mo’Nique ‘s blue heaven. Zac Efron would like to borrow your daughter for a moment. True Blood ‘s Deborah Ann Woll promises to do better next time. The always-poised Sigourney Weaver struggles to remain calm as red carpet devours her. If it worked for Jason Smith, 1995 Midland High School Prom King, Jeremy Renner figures this lucky shimmer-tie will work for him. Maggie Gyllenhaal is so hip she’s wearing Urban Outfitters curtains to the Academy Awards. Tinker Bell not the same since spending the summer at her goth cousin’s house. (That’s Carey Muligan , slowly disappearing from the boobs up.) Diane Kruger run over by band of unruly teenagers on their Huffys. Sandra Bullock ‘s lovely look for the 1994 Golden Globes. Who invited Miley Cyrus to the Oscars? Sarah Jessica Parker came dressed as an elaborate birdbath. Kinda wish Tina Fey would change her spots. Is Molly Ringwald there for John Hughes-related reasons? It’s a shame that Penelope Cruz is so ugly and dresses so terribly. Rachel McAdams is beginning to realize that driving that truck full of water colors down a bumpy road while wearing her Oscar dress wasn’t such a good idea. All hail the Queen Latifah . Hasn’t Helen Mirren worn this dress before? Tonight is the debut of the new clothing line Vagina Explosion by J. Lo Charlize Theron traveled to the show on a gust of wind. Look out behind you, Gabourey Sidibe ! The plants! They’re attacking! Meryl Streep : If you bring the bathrobe back after the Oscars, does the hotel still charge you for it? Travis Barker Gets Tattoo In Memory Of DJ AM

Hip-to-knee piece incorporates late DJ’s signature lightning bolt. By Gil Kaufman Travis Barker’s thigh tattoo Photo: twitter.com/trvsbrkr Travis Barker has paid the ultimate tribute to his late friend and musical partner DJ AM : getting a memorial tattoo honoring the celebrity DJ. Barker posted a photo of the thigh tattoo to his Twitter account on Thursday . The nearly hip-to-knee piece reads “In Memory Of” in cursive, with AM’s signature lightning bolt logo floating in a bank of clouds that have sunbeams streaming out of them. The image also incorporates a weeping angel whose head is ringed by a beaming halo. The tat was finished on Thursday night by body artist to the stars Mister Cartoon. He’s no stranger to inking Barker, having given the Blink-182 drummer a wrist tattoo of his daughter’s name last year. Barker and AM survived a 2008 plane crash in South Carolina that took the lives of four people. AM (born Adam Goldstein) died last August of an accidental drug overdose after struggling with a relapse in the aftermath of the crash. The drummer will take the stage with DJ A-Trak in Hollywood for performances next Tuesday and Wednesday. The shows will be Barker’s first live performances with a DJ since AM’s death. “When Travis hollered, I was definitely flattered,” said A-Trak. “We started by jamming once, back in the fall, just came over to the studio, and we did, like, one hour of jamming, which we thought was maybe a half an hour. “I just started playing records and scratching, and he was playing on top, and it went really, really naturally,” A-Trak continued. “It was very fluid. And we stopped and looked at the watch, and it was like, ‘Oh, we’ve been playing for an hour and didn’t even realize it.’ And I think that solidified for both of us in our minds that we could do this pretty easily.” Barker and A-Trak will perform each other’s remixes as well as some new collaborations. Source: Grand Jury to Indict John Edwards

John Edwards is already a walking disgrace, having cheated on his cancer-stricken wife with Rielle Hunter, knocking up his weird mistress, trying to cover the scandal up, and lying about it repeatedly while running for President of the United States. Now a Federal grand jury may decide there was criminal behavior in there, too. The former U.S. Senator may find himself indicted shortly, according to reports, for illegally using campaign funds to hide his affair with Hunter. One-time aide Andrew Young and none other than Edwards’ own estranged wife Elizabeth could help take the fallen presidential candidate, too. Edwards is being investigated by FBI, IRS and election officials for possible campaign violations related to paying hush money to Rielle Hunter . The grand jury has been meeting since April 2009, and an indictment is imminent . FALL FROM GRACE : There’s truly never been one like this . “John is terrified he’s going to be indicted,” a friend said. “While he believes he’s done nothing illegal in trying to hide his affair with Rielle and their daughter, he thinks the Feds are going to make an example out of him.” Right. Make an example of him. Because they do that. Sorry, John, weren’t you a personal injury lawyer at one point? They never make examples out of anything. Tell us, how’s the view look from the other side? Do the crime, do the time, pal. All because you had to go and do Rielle Hunter, too. So worth it right about now.

Jay Leno Returns To ‘The Tonight Show’

Jamie Foxx, Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn and country star Brad Paisley were the talk-show host’s first guests. By Josh Wigler Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show” Monday Photo: NBC “There’s no place like home … there’s no place like home” was the mantra heard as a sepia-hued Jay Leno woke up in a farmhouse surrounded by several friends, including “The Tonight Show” bandleader Kevin Eubanks and Ross “The Intern” Matthews. The host fruitlessly attempted to recount stories from a faraway land but was quickly informed that he was simply suffering from a serious head injury. “He took quite a hit,” Matthews assessed, “but he’s going to be just fine.” Hearkening back to the classic “The Wizard of Oz” scene, the silver-haired late-night host returned to “The Tonight Show” on Monday night (March 1), and it almost felt as if he had never left. Despite a brief mention of the watchful eyes of David Letterman and Oprah Winfrey and a quick opening quip at NBC’s expense — “I’m Jay Leno, your host … at least for a while!” — Leno barely acknowledged his brief absence from the hosting gig and the controversy surrounding former host Conan O’Brien’s unceremonious departure . Instead, Leno focused his opening monologue on current events, including the Olympics, the financial climate, airline security, Toyota’s safety woes and Tiger Woods’ marital issues. He also unveiled several new bits such as “How Boring Is Alan Greenspan,” “The World’s Tightest Pants” and “The Great Desk Search,” where the host went door-to-door throughout Burbank, California, alongside surprise guests Adam Carolla and Randy Jackson in search of a new desk for his late-night return. The award for most enthusiastic participant easily went to Academy Award-winning actor and musician Jamie Foxx. As Leno’s first guest, Foxx rushed out to the audience, led the crowd in a “welcome back” chant and sprayed a bottle of champagne all over the studio. Foxx spoke with the host about his daughter’s recent 16th birthday party, flirting with Kirstie Alley on “Oprah” and his first car. He also reminisced over his recent victory at the Grammy Awards for “Blame It on the Alcohol,” excitedly recounting the evening and spilling his mug of water in the process. “Why don’t you take an Ambien and we’ll go to commercial,” Leno joked at his energetic guest’s expense. Leno’s second guest was Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn, a more subdued but no less enthusiastic presence than Foxx. The alpine ski racer arrived to loud chants of “USA, USA, USA” and proceeded to show off her recently earned gold medal to both Foxx and Leno. “I’m so thankful it worked out,” she said of her victory. “You only get one shot to get these medals.” Vonn told Leno that she plans to take a red-eye flight to Switzerland following the show for another skiing competition in two days. Musical guest Brad Paisley closed out Leno’s “Tonight Show” return with his performance of the title track from his recent album American Saturday Night. In the show’s closing moments, Leno offered a very brief thank you and wished Jimmy Fallon a happy anniversary, as tonight marks one year since the former “Saturday Night Live” comedian assumed O’Brien’s role as the host of “Late Night.” Related Artists Jamie Foxx

Rupert Murdoch calls in Bill O’Reilly and "pollster" Frank Luntz to provide cover for yet another Palin misstep.

The first thing to address is whether or not Frank Luntz actually gathered a group of people that is representative of Obama voters. I am guessing not. And by the way WHY did they cut it off before the graph supposedly demonstrated how hateful the Obama voters were? The guy is well known for consistently skewing his data to reinforce the conclusions that Fox News pays him to reinforce. He is the guy who penned the memo that Republicans are using to try and kill the health care bill, and there is NOTHING bipartisan about his tactics. So let us get THAT out of the way right off the top. As I have addressed before the Family Guy episode was NOT aimed at Trig Palin. It contained one very slight dig at Sarah Palin, which SHE decided to capitalize on to, once again, play the victim. Only this time she was even too cowardly to do it herself, and had her daughter Bristol do the dirty work for her. Even the actress who played the part, a person with Down syndrome herself, understood the target of the joke . The only thing that is shown by this little act that Luntz and O’Reilly put on is that News Corp is still dedicated to cleaning up the messes that Sarah Palin makes in order to keep her from imploding before they have squeezed all of the potential revenue from of her appearances on Fox. After all Rupert Murdoch has made a sizable investment in Ms. Palin and, even though she is getting more batshit crazy by the day, he still stands to make a tidy sum from her in the next several months. Personally I want very much to be a fly on the wall at Fox News when we prove that Sarah did not give birth to her magical, popularity producing toddler. I wonder if MSNBC could sneak a camera in there on the big day? And as for Luntz’s ridiculous assertion that when it comes to Sarah Palin conservatives are more compassionate than liberals, I have to correct him. It is not that we are less compassionate, it is that we are less easy to fool. You see, unlike conservatives, when a woman puts a pillow under her scarf and tells us she is seven months pregnant and then produces a borrowed child to prove that she was not lying, liberals tend to be a tad skeptical. After all, as my previous post illustrates, we ARE the intelligent ones.
