REVIEW: One Lucky Elephant, One Deeply Sympathetic Movie

Elephants are magnificent creatures, possessed of great intelligence and sensitivity, so it’s little wonder that people who regularly work with or care for them become devoted. That’s mostly a good thing, particularly for elephants who’ve been transplanted far from home: If you’re a 10,000-pound African elephant living 8,000 miles away from your native habitat, you need all the help you can get. Still, these marvelous animals are strangers among us, and understanding them isn’t easy. How much human love is too much for an elephant? That’s the question Lisa Leeman’s One Lucky Elephant attempts to answer, without sentimentality but with the right amount of compassion.

Dragon Tattoo Pundit Pummels Poster Porn

“I’ve already started to read posts about how hot Rooney [Mara] is with her nipple ring on full display. That’s enough to start my blood boiling. Lisbeth [Salander] is not supposed to be hot. That’s one of the reasons why we love her so much. She doesn’t play by the rules and now we have a poster that puts her right back into the girl box. Disappointment is a wild understatement for what I am feeling.” [ Women and Hollywood ]

Emma Watson ‘Couldn’t Compete’ With Pattinson/Lautner Kiss

‘Harry Potter’ star tells MTV News that all the Movie Awards smooching had her feeling left out. By James Montgomery, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Emma Watson at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday Photo: Steve Granitz/Getty Images Aside from the much-anticipated premiere of a new “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” clip during Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards, it was a pretty quiet night for Team Potter, who sat and watched as “Twilight” reaped (nearly) all the awards , besting “Deathly Hollows, Part 1” for Best Movie, Best Male and Female Performance, Best Fight Scene and Best Kiss. In fact, “Potter” took home just one bucket of Golden Popcorn — Tom Felton’s turn as Draco Malfoy earned him Best Villain honors — and as if that weren’t bad enough, it was the stars of “Twilight” who garnered the lion’s share of the headlines too, as everything from Robert Pattinson’s lip-lock with co-star Taylor Lautner to the squeeing reactions to the “Breaking Dawn, Part 1” trailer burned up search engines in the hours following the show. So you could imagine what it must have been like for the “Harry Potter” stars who were actually on hand for the Movie Awards — like, for example, Emma Watson, who not only lost Best Female Performance to Kristen Stewart, but didn’t even get to see the kiss between Pattinson and Lautner. “I missed this moment! I came out, and they were like, ‘Rob just missed Taylor!’ and I was like, ‘Damn!’ ” Watson told MTV News’ Josh Horowitz following the show. “I was still backstage [after introducing the ‘Deathly Hallows, Part 2’] clip, so I missed it. But, I mean, yeah, good on them!” And as if missing out on the kiss-to-end-all-kisses wasn’t bad enough, the whole lip-locking theme of the night had Watson feeling left out. Seems she was the only person who didn’t have someone to kiss. “I mean, I was really up against it. Kristen [Stewart] had two kisses, and Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman making out,” she laughed. “I mean, I couldn’t really compete!” MTV News has all of the highlights from the 2011 MTV Movie Awards . Leaving school? What would Hermione Granger think? Emma Brown announced that she is temporarily leaving Brown University to concentrate on promoting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 , and not, as some outlets had divined, because she was being teased by the fellow students. We had Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anna Paquin and Jake Gyllenhaal and would mind a little magic in the matriculating mix! [ US Weekly ]

‘Harry Potter’ Documentary In The Works, Producers Reveal

David Heyman and David Baron tell MTV News that Morgan Matthews shot behind the scenes on ‘Deathly Hallows’ set. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Bonnie Wright and Daniel Radcliffe in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” Photo: Warner Bros. Fear not, “Potter” fans! Though the film franchise comes to a close in July with the release of “Deathly Hallows, Part 2,” there will be plenty more opportunities to revisit the work of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and their cohorts. Producers David Heyman and David Baron revealed to MTV News that Morgan Matthews, an award-winning British filmmaker, shot a documentary on the set of “Deathly Hallows” that will be coming out after the final installment of the franchise itself. “He went behind the scenes and had incredible access to talent and crew and has made a documentary that is not yet complete, which shows the challenges of making the film — the tolls it takes on actors and crew,” Baron said. “It’s not just pure gloss and everybody’s happy. It’s real. … At the same time, it’s really, really funny.” Baron went on to describe one such scene in the unfinished doc. “Morgan comes in to interview Dan in his dressing room, and Dan says, ‘Will you wait one second? I want to watch the 2:50 at Doncaster,’ which is a horse race. He says, ‘Yeah, I bet on it.’ ‘How much?’ ‘Ten quid.’ And the horse, of course, comes in way behind the pack.” In addition to the documentary, Heyman and Baron said fans can also expect, down the line, to check out behind-the-scenes footage stretching back to 2001’s “Sorcerer’s Stone.” “It was a very well-documented production. We had a crew filming behind the scenes for the entire production, which is unheard of — and that’s been for all the films,” Baron explained. “There is material, and we’ll see how it’s used. I’m sure Warner Bros. will package it in some form or another.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Cee Lo Calls Judging ‘The Voice’ His ‘Day Job’

Singer tells MTV News there’s ‘friendly competition’ with fellow judges Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. By Gil Kaufman, with reporting by Matt Elias Cee Lo Green Photo: MTV News Given his gigs fronting ATL rap crew Goodie Mob, Gnarls Barkley and his recent mega-viral success with the song “F— You,” you’d think the last thing Cee Lo Green would do is join the cast of a reality singing competition. But you’d be wrong. “At first, I thought it was a very cool and original concept,” Green said of the script-flipping conceit of the soon-to-launch “The Voice,” in which judges sit with their backs to contestants to focus on their vocals instead of their looks as they decide whether to mentor them through later rounds. Secondly, after years of touring and grinding it out on the road, Green said he was looking forward to staying put in Los Angeles and pursuing the new opportunities that have come his way thanks to the exposure from the Grammy-nominated “F— You.”

Jamie Campbell Bower ‘Kind Of Scared’ Of ‘Harry Potter’ Exhibit

‘Camelot’ star says being part of New York’s ‘Harry Potter: The Exhibition’ is ‘a bit weird.’ By Jocelyn Vena Jamie Campbell Bower Photo: MTV News In New York City, fans can check out “Harry Potter: The Exhibition” at the Discovery Times Square building. But, don’t expect “Potter” star Jamie Campbell Bower to stop by anytime soon: He said the whole thing is a bit weird for him. “Unfortunately, I can’t see it,” he explained to MTV News when he stopped by to talk about his new Starz series, “Camelot.” On his way out of town post-interview, he shared another reason why he wasn’t likely to ever check the exhibit: “I’m kind of scared of those kinds of things.” Bower explained that there’s something a bit jarring about having a museum-type exhibit dedicated to a piece of work you’ve done. It also means that in the hearts and minds of “Potter” fans, he’ll never age past 20. “It’s a bit weird. When you do a film or whatever, you’re immortalized, I suppose, but in the job that you’re doing,” he said. “And if you take that away and put it in a different [world] — for example, that [exhibit] or the Wizarding World that they have in Orlando (Florida) — it’s scary. We’ll be young forever.” With the franchise coming to an end with “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” this July, Bower admitted that it’s a bit bittersweet saying goodbye. “I was only on set for a very short period of time, and I only play a very small role in the film,” he explained. “I suppose, just for me personally, being able to be involved in something that is taking place in England for 10 years and something that has given people jobs and a great boost to the British film industry, that was a real honor.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Harry Potter” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .
