Multiple Officers Shot In Baton Rouge Several police officers are feared dead after a shooting in Baton Rouge, the same city where Alton Sterling was killed. CNN reports: Three officers are feared dead after a shooting in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, officials said. Kip Holden, the mayor-president of East Baton Rouge Parish Kip Holden, said authorities were still trying to get a handle on the situation, but added, “The count is three officers dead possibly.” The victims may include police officers and sheriff’s deputies “There is still an active scene. They are investigating,” he said. “Right now we are trying to get our arms around everything.” The shooter is believed to be down as well, Holden said. “Everything is moving fast and I have not been able to verify everything,” he said. The scene, however, is contained, McKneely said. Since the shooting death of Alton Sterling by Baton Rouge police earlier this month, the department has worried about credible threats against its officers. Ludacris Wants BabyMama Sanctioned For Disobeying Court Orders Since their ugly custody battle last year, we’d been hoping that Ludacris and his daughter Cai’s mom Tamika Fuller would learn how to peacefully coparent… Well that certainly hasn’t happened, as theJasmineBRAND.com has reported that Luda was investigated by the Department of Family and Children Services over a child abuse complaint filed against him! But it gets deeper — now the 38-year-old rapper/actor is accusing baby mama Tamika Fuller of filing a false report due to her bitterness stemming from him being awarded primary custody: On July 6th, Ludacris headed to court and filed an application for contempt and request for a restraining order and sanctions against Tamika. The rapper explains since the judge came back with his order in early 2015, Tamika has attempted to ignore the order and usurp his custodial rights by making decisions for their minor child, which she has no authority to do. He says he has tried to work out the issues but Tamika refused to follow the court order. Ludacris points out that Tamika continuously drops off their child at daycare on Fridays – when he decided to have private tutoring for their child on Fridays. He claims that she keeps disregarding the doctor he chose and going to other physicians and violating the order by taking unscheduled and unannounced visitation time at the daycare even when asked by the staff not to come. Luda says that she has leaked private emails to the media for her own publicity and to portray Ludacris in a false, negative light and even chose to start a GoFundMe account in an attempt to profit off their child, which was against the court order. He accuses his baby mama of sending pictures of their kid to gossip sites and even penned an ‘essay’ which was rife with false criticisms of the court and Luda. The last straw came when Luda says Tamika contacted the Department of Family and Children Services and filed a false report against him based on their kid having a common rash. He says she was informed by Luda that a doctor had already seen the rash and she was prescribed an ointment. Luda claims that on May 19th 2016, the department contacted him and said pursuant to department protocol, his parenting time with his kid was suspended. He says his baby mama must be stopped from filing false and malicious reports of child abuse. He is demanding the court order Tamika to follow the original order, find her in contempt of court and sanctioned for her actions along with order her to pay attorney fees and litigation expenses. This ish is crazy. Do you really believe she filed a FALSE report? Would you ever call DCFS over a diaper rash — especially if the other parent said that a doctor had seen it and prescribed medication?! We’ll be watching for the updates on this one. Instagram
Convicted Rapist Daniel Holtzclaw Removed From National Prison Database Even though racist serial rapist Daniel Hotlzclaw is supposed to be serving a 263-year sentence for his brutal crimes against Black women, no one outside the prison system is quite sure of his whereabouts right now. The crooked cop’s name has been completely erased from the national prison database, presumably for his own safety within prison walls . Via OKC Fox : Daniel Holtzclaw’s information was removed from the Department of Corrections’ online inmate locator for his safety and security. The DOC tells Fox 25 their primary responsibility is the safety and security of offenders and then the public’s safety. Communications Director Terri Watkins said this is not an uncommon practice, but assured Fox 25 Holtzclaw remains in custody. As a consequence of the removal, Hotlzclaw’s information was removed from the Victim’s Notification system, known as V.I.N.E., which is run by the Oklahoma Attorney General’s office. The AG’s office told Fox 25 the information provided to victims of crime comes from the Department of Corrections. The DOC said Holtzclaw’s victims will be notified if he is released. However, Holtzclaw’s sentence would not allow for such a release. So…they won’t reveal where he is to the public, and the multitude of Black women he raped have no real assurance that he is indeed behind bars and unable to harm them further…but we should all take their word for it because he’s such a “special case.” SMH! Funny how he is being kept safe now, after spending years of his career making Black women feel unsafe in their own neighborhoods and homes… OK Dept. of Corrections
As you’ve probably heard, Kourtney Kardashian closed out 2015 (and baffled her friends, family, and fans) by hooking up with Justin Bieber . Even though Kourtney’s fondness for d-bags is well-documented, it was a bizarre move that blew up in her face when Justin was photographed kissing Hailey Baldwin on New Year’s Eve. But it looks like Kourt won’t let that embarrassment dampen her 2016 swag: The photo on the right is a screenshot of a conversation with Khloe Kardashian that Kourtney posted to her Instagram page today. Apparently it serves as both an advertisement for Kimoji – the line of Kim kardashian-themed Emojis that hopefully won’t be a thing for very long – and a press release announcing to the world that Kourtney’s got her swagger back, and she’s ready to move on to the next self-obsessed pretty boy with a short fuse and a Blue Steel gaze. We kid, of course. After the year she’s had, if Kourtney’s feeling herself, then we hope she keeps right on swaggin’. Besides, if her split from Scott Disick is any indication, breakup Kourtney is the best Kourtney. Here’s hoping we’re about to receive another round of Kourtney’s “revenge body” photos just like the ones she posted she finally dumped the Douche Lord. As the national obsession with the bizarre murder trials of Steven Avery and his young nephew Brendan Dassey continues to grow, new evidence of corruption on the part of the authorities who helped put him away seems to surface daily. Avery, of course, is the focus of the recent Netflix documentary series Making a Murderer , which covers both his wrongful imprisonment for sexual assault at the age of 23, as well as his arrest and conviction for the murder of Teresa Halbach two decades later. The filmmakers make a compelling case for why Manitowoc, Wisconsin law enforcement would have incentive to frame Avery and Dassey for Halbach’s murder, yet viewers of the series remain deeply divided on the question of whether police and prosecutors would have or even could have perpetrated such a conspiracy. Avery was on the verge of receiving a $36 million settlement from the county as a result of spending 18 years behind bars for a crime he didn’t commit, and Murderer establishes that several prominent local figures harbored intense hatred for Avery. At one point in the documentary, investigators are shown coaxing a confession out of Dassey – Avery’s mentally impaired 16-year-old nephew – apparently for no other reason than it would be easier to convict Avery if they could prove he had an accomplice. There’s too much damning evidence against the Manitowoc law enforcement and judicial systems to recount here, but after viewing the series in its entirety, even stalwart supporters of Avery are left with a number of questions: For example, if Avery didn’t kill Halbach, who did? And with so much at stake, how did Manitowoc officials ensure that the jury would turn in a guilty verdict? The first of those questions may have been answered yesterday when it was revealed that Steven believes his brothers Chuck and Earl Avery may murdered Halbach , but his theory was buried by the courts for six years. Earlier today, a shocking new allegation may have revealed the lengths to which prosecutors were willing to go to guarantee a favorable outcome for the state. According to a report from the website OnMilwaukee.com, a man who frequently volunteered for the Manitowoc Sheriff’s Department was chosen to be on Avery’s jury despite the obvious conflict of interest. The site claims that the juror – Carl Wardman – was not just a local with law enforcement ambitions who went on the occasional ride-along, but an “an official and very active volunteer for the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department” who worked with deputies at the same time the trial was going on. To make matters worse, sources say Carl Wardman’s son, Chris Wardman, “worked as a Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department supervisor in the jail during the trial.” Wardman admitted all of this during pre-trial screening, but Avery’s defense attorney, Dean Strang, says he was essentially forced to let him through, because at least at six other jurors appeared to be more biased against Avery than Wardman was. We understand this a complex case with a lot of conflicting evidence, but at this point, it’s hard to believe that any reasonable person wouldn’t at least have doubts as to whether or not Avery and Dassey committed the crimes of which they’ve been accuses. Dothan, Alabama Police Framed Innocent African Americans For Decades The police force Dothan, Alabama has been blasted in a new report that digs into nearly 20 years of discrimination and false imprisonment of African American citizens. A new report has exposed a cover-up of an internal affairs investigation that proved that officers in the narcotics investigation squad have routinely planted drugs and weapons on young Black men to secure charges against them since the mid 90’s — motivated by the squad’s affiliation with a racist neo-Confederate group. Via Henry County Report : The Alabama Justice Project has obtained documents that reveal a Dothan Police Department’s Internal Affairs investigation was covered up by the district attorney. A group of up to a dozen police officers on a specialized narcotics team were found to have planted drugs and weapons on young black men for years. They were supervised at the time by Lt. Steve Parrish, current Dothan Police Chief, and Sgt. Andy Hughes, current Asst. Director of Homeland Security for the State of Alabama. All of the officers reportedly were members of a Neoconfederate organization that the Southern Poverty Law Center labels “racial extremists.” The group has advocated for blacks to “return” to Africa, published that the civil rights movement is really a Jewish conspiracy, and that blacks have lower IQ’s. The documents shared reveal that the internal affairs investigation was covered up to protect the aforementioned officers’ law enforcement careers and keep them from being criminally prosecuted. Several long term Dothan law enforcement officers, all part of an original group that initiated the investigation, believe the public has a right to know that the Dothan Police Department, and District Attorney Doug Valeska, targeted young black men by planting drugs and weapons on them over a decade. Most of the young men were prosecuted, many sentenced to prison, and some are still in prison. Many of the officers involved were subsequently promoted and are in leadership positions in law enforcement. They hope the mood of the country is one that demands action and that the US Department of Justice will intervene. The group of officers requested they be granted anonymity, and shared hundreds of files from the Internal Affairs Division. SMH!!! As awful and messed up as this is…it sadly isn’t shocking. We wonder how many other precincts across the nation have been up to the same tricks, but haven’t been caught yet.
Brown Girls Do Ballet Organization Inspires More Young Girls Of Color To Dance Ballerina Misty Copeland has inspired a generation of Black girls to dance but an new organization wants to help draw more attention and diversity to the world of ballet according to The Grio reports. The organization Brown Girls Do Ballet is drawing attention to ballet’s need for diversity through beautiful Instagram posts. According to their website , the organization is “dedicated to promoting diversity in ballet programs through various media platforms, training resources, and an exclusive network in the world of ballet.” Co-founders TaKiyah Wallace and Brittani Marie created the group in 2013 after Wallace noticed a lack of diversity among her young daughter’s ballet classes. “We realized the missing link to diversifying ballet was a resource that spoke to their identity. We wanted to convey a message of acceptance, vision, and possibility,” the founders told BuzzFeed. The duo wanted to show young dancers of color that there are dancers out there that look like them, so they began their Instagram page. Rise and Shine!
