Rosie O’Donnell welcomed a baby girl with wife Michelle Rounds, she announced today. “We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our daughter Dakota,” O’Donnell shared. Check out the snapshot of herself, Rounds, and their little bundle of joy below … “With love and thanks – AMEN,” she added, with no other details re: Dakota. Dakota is O’Donnell’s fifth child; the former talk show host also shares kids Parker, Chelsea, Blake, and Vivienne with ex-wife Kelli Carpenter. O’Donnell and Rounds announced their engagement in December 2011. They married six months later after Rounds was diagnosed with desmoid tumors, a rare, cancer-like disease. O’Donnell had a heart attack in 2012 as well. Both are on the mend now and hope to have a wedding in 2013. “When we are both well enough, [we] will finally have the wedding of our dreams surrounded by those we cherish,” the former View co-host blogged. “[We are] thankful for the love and support so many have given us.” Congratulations to the happy and growing family!
Josh Brolin went a bit overboard ringing in the new year, as sources confirm to TMZ that the actor was arrested for public intoxication on January 1. According to law enforcement officials, Brolin was booked at 3:02 a.m. and released four hours later. Few other details are available at this time, but the star’s rep acknowledges that an incident took place, telling TMZ that Brolin was hanging out some with buddies and wound up having “too much fun.” Hey, no harm, only a little bit of a foul.
A gunman shot two people dead and seriously injured another in a Portland, Oregon, mall Tuesday, sending holiday shoppers running for cover. The shooting happened around 3:20 p.m. local time (6:20 p.m. ET) in the food court near the Macy’s, triggering panic at the Clackamas Town Center. Fortunately, police agencies were able to “basically hunt down, find this guy” in record time, Sheriff Craig Roberts told NBC station KGW. Lt. James Rhodes, of the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, said the gunman, described as an adult male, died of a self-inflicted gunshot . A young woman was wounded and was transported by ambulance to Oregon Health Science University Hospital around 5:30 p.m. (8:30 p.m. ET). The woman was described as being in “serious” condition, on a scale of “good” to “critical.” When the shooting began, people standing in line to get their photos taken with Santa immediately dove for cover, according to news reports. A woman who answered the phone at a Chipotle restaurant in the mall Tuesday told NBC News that someone ran in and yelled, “It’s a shooting, it’s a shooting.” She said employees shut the doors. She said the mall was crawling with police. Witnesses reported hearing the suspect say “I am the shooter,” before firing. “All of a sudden, I just heard a series of gunshots… boom, boom, boom, boom, boom… whatever the shooter was shooting at, they continued to shoot,” shopper Bill Hoff told KGW. Macy’s employee Mariah Saldana told KGW that she was sitting by the door “watching what was going on and then some guy just ran by in a white mask.” The man was carrying an assault rifle and “then I look out because I hear a few shots and he’s … and he’s sitting there and he’s pointing the gun at some people.” “We ran to the fitting room, grabbed some people then ran out to the back exit to get out of there.” “It was just shot after shot after shot. It was terrible. It was like a massacre.”
Two teenage boys are wanted for the killing of a young Pennsylvania mother who had words with them as they harassed her boyfriend walking down the street Saturday. Kayla Peterson’s boyfriend, Bill Bailey, said it all started over a cigarette comment. Kayla Peterson Shot, Killed “My friend came in and got cigarettes, and three young kids followed him. They kept following him and asking for a cigarette,” convenience store employee Brock Edwards said. Bailey said the teens followed, harassing him while he walked two blocks home. When he got there, Bailey said the 22-year-old Peterson came out and told the boys to get a job. “The next thing you know, they just pull out a gun and shoot for no reason,” Edwards said. “Now, my friend lost his girlfriend – an amazing, amazing girl, and she was such a good mother, too – and now her child has to grow up without her mother being there.” “It was over a cigarette.” Bailey said that he held the mother of his 23-month-old girl, and as she lay dying, Kayla Peterson told him that she loved him and their daughter. “She didn’t even move when it happened,” Bailey told Channel 4 Action News. “She just said, ‘I can’t feel my legs.’ She wanted to lay down, so I laid her down.” He said trying to explain to his daughter, Ellieonna, what happened to has not been easy. “I just tell her her mom was an angel and was taken away way too soon. She devoted her life to my daughter,” he said, adding that he knows the teens police are searching for.
New mom Adele is facing a fine for not registering her baby with the proper authorities. The singer and her fiancé, Simon Konecki , allegedly failed to register, or make an appointment to register, their new arrival within the 42-day limit, according to The Sun . It’s been 51 days since Adele gave birth , and she faces a fine of 1,000 British pounds. The couple will soon likely receive warning letters, and if the birth hasn’t been registered within three months, the registrar becomes liable and can be fined. Adele announced her pregnancy in June before giving birth sometime this fall, but few other details are known about her newborn son, including his name.
Tragedy struck a basketball legend and his family today, as Alexandra “Sasha” McHale – the daughter of NBA Hall of Famer and Houston Rockets Head Coach Kevin McHale – passed away. She was only 23. No further details have been released, but McHale left the Rockets on November 10 to attend to a family matter. He has not returned since to the sideline. Houston Team owner Leslie Alexander said in a statement that he extends his ‘‘deepest condolences’’ over the loss of the McHale’s ‘‘beautiful daughter.’’ He referred to Kevin and wife Lynn ‘as ‘loving and dedicated parents who will need our continued support throughout this very difficult time,” adding that the ‘‘entire organization is mourning.’’ THG also sends its thoughts to McHale and his loved ones.

Halle Berry received bad news in her personal life today: a judge ruled that she cannot move to France with four-year old daughter Nahla. The actress had been locked in a long-term struggle with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry over her authority to make such a decision, with the Canadian model even arguing at one point that the move would endanger Berry’s life . Berry, who is engaged to Olivier Martinez, says she never had any intention to take Nahla away from her father, but the ruling still did not turn in her favor, according to TMZ.
