Miami Sports Bar Deck Collapses According to The Miami Herald A deck behind the popular Shuckers sports bar in North Bay Village collapsed Thursday night, spilling scores of customers watching the Miami Heat vs. San Antonio Spurs game into Biscayne Bay. Dozens of police and fire-rescue units rushed to the scene after the sudden collapse, which happened about 9:45 p.m., minutes before the game’s halftime. At least two dozen people were injured, and by 11:20 p.m. 15 people had been transported to various hospitals,. three of them in serious condition, said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Capt. Eugene Germain Jr. He said approximately 100 people were on the deck when it fell into the water. As helicopters circled over the scene, rescuers carried people away on stretchers, one after another. Another fire captain said one person might be missing and that a search was underway. Chris Volz, 39, said he was sitting at the western end of the bar, about 10 feet from where the deck gave way. “Everybody’s watching the game. It sounded like a freight train, then everyone was gone. The deck went down like a V.” He said it happened in a split second and that no one had a chance to get away. He said bartenders were diving into the water to help rescue the patrons. Fire trucks pulled to the water’s edge and extended their ladders over the water to help the patrons climb to safety. Shuckers, at 1819 79th Street Causeway, lost power when the collapse happened, casting victims and rescuers alike into the dark. Hernan Reyes, 21, and friend Crystal Infante, 23, were eating and watching then game when the deck, about five feet over the water, collapsed. Infante said the water was shallow enough for them to stand, but it was difficult for them to get out because wood, umbrellas, tables, chairs and other debris currounded them. “There was a crack, and then we were in the water,” Infante said. “There was just a crack, and then we were in the water….It was really hard to get out, and you coudln’t find anyone.” By 11 p.m., a triage unit had been set up in the parking lot, and victims were still being removed from the water.. Traffic on the 79th Street Causeway was closed off in both directions. Police and rescue units from North Bay Village, Miami-Dade County, Miami, Miami Beach and El Portal were on the scene within minutes. Four People Killed Inside Office Building According to The NY Daily News Four people have been killed inside of an office building in St. Louis in what appears to be a murder-suicide, officials said Wednesday. Two men and two women were shot dead around 1:40 p.m. Wednesday afternoon in the Cherokee Place Business Incubator, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Police Capt. Michael Sack said that the man had gotten in an argument that quickly escalated and said he drew out a semi-automatic weapon, shooting two woman and another man before then shooting himself. The victims, whose identities are being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin were in their 40s and 50s, Sacks said. The St. Louis police captain said that it was unclear if the shooting was premeditated. “We don’t know if this was a thing that carried over into today or was initiated today,” he said. The Cherokee Place Business Incubator is a decade-old project to allow small businesses to flourish in the neighborhood. But as bigger retailers fled to the suburbs, the area struggled. At least a dozen police officers rushed to the complex between Ohio and Iowa Avenues, sealing off the area. Witnesses told FOX2now that three people were taken from the office in handcuffs, but were later released, as police discovered them to be witnesses. Police have said that Wednesday’s violent attack was targeted, though they have not yet released the business or businesses where the shootings took place. According to public records, the converted movie theater holds several small businesses, including a day-care facility and a bank. The shooting occurred between the Marine Villa and Soulard neighborhoods of the city, south of downtown St. Louis. A call to the St. Louis Police Department was not immediately returned. The 32-year-old has been charged with one count of a lewd act upon a child, one count of oral copulation of a person under 14 and three counts of genital penetration by a foreign object with a person under 14 years of age when the suspect is more than 10 years older than the victim. Her attorney said outside court that she was suffering from a mental illness and was now receiving treatment, according to NBC. Brooks had taught the 6th grade at Garden Grove Elementary School since 2004, authorities said during a press conference on Wednesday. A police spokesman said: ‘Although a suspect has been arrested, the information is limited in the interest of the victim, his family and the integrity of this investigation.’ The school district had informed the police about the alleged inappropriate relations between a child and teacher on February 22. The teacher was removed from the classroom immediately and later resigned. Police do not suspect that there are any other victims. Garden Grove Elementary School has provided counseling for any children affected by the events. One distraught mother, whose daughter attends the school, told KTLA: ‘My daughter has a good relationship with that teacher and I still don’t believe it.’ She said that parents had been aware that an investigation was taking place and said the school had her full support for ‘trying to minimize the impact on their children’. Investigators say she stabbed a man with the heel of her shoe. Authorities found the woman in the apartment with the victim at The Parklane, luxury highrise condominiums in the 1700 block of Hermann Drive. Another tenant called 911 around 4am Sunday, telling dispatchers someone was being assaulted. When officers arrived, Ana Lilia Trujillo answered the door to a unit on the 18th floor. That’s where they found the 59-year-old victim’s body. According to Houston police, the man was stabbed multiple times. The weapon investigators think she used: a stiletto heel. Officers detained Trujillo and questioned her at the scene. They said she was initially cooperative, but she reportedly stopped speaking to investigators and was transported downtown for additional questioning. Investigators said the victim lived in the apartment, but Trujillo did not and was visiting. Their relationship is unknown. Residents at The Parklane were hesitant to talk about the crime. The few who did speak with us off camera admitted they were shocked by what happened. Trujillo, 44, has been charged with murder. The victim’s name has not been released.
