You cannot possibly be serious… Phoenix Man Kills Wife And Son Because He Thought He Gave Them AIDS Via PhoenixNewTimes Eugene Maraventano, a 64-year-old Goodyear resident, told police this weekend that he stabbed his wife and son to death and failed to kill himself after multiple tries over the course of the next four days. “I killed my wife and I killed my son; I can’t kill myself,” Maraventano told a 911 dispatcher, according to court documents obtained by New Times. Maraventano told the dispatcher that he stabbed them both to death and added that his wife had cancer, according to the documents. Police arrived at the house and found Maraventano covered with blood and with wounds to his chest. He was taken to a hospital, and police found the bodies of his wife and son in different rooms of the house. Maraventano was interviewed at the hospital, where he started by saying he used to live in New York, where he “frequented with prostitutes.” He thought he may have contracted HIV or another disease and passed it on to his wife, Janet. Janet started to get sick recently, so Maraventano thought his wife might have had cancer or possibly something he gave her. Since tests showed she didn’t have cancer, that only left one option, in Maraventano’s mind — though it’s not clear why he told the dispatcher that his wife had cancer. Of course that is the only logical answer…SMH Maraventano said he made the decision to kill his wife about two weeks ago. He’d debated using a knife or buying a gun. He settled on the knife, even though, he said, he’s “not a violent person,” according to court documents. Four days earlier, while his wife was sleeping, he finally acted, stabbing her twice, he said. Maraventano also decided to kill his son, Bryan, because he “plays video games all day, has no girlfriend, and must be handicap[ped] because he can’t get a job.” Maraventano went down the hallway and knocked on Bryan’s door. The Postal Service said in February that it planned to cut back in August to five-day-a-week deliveries for everything except packages, as a way to hold down losses. But a statement Wednesday from agency’s Board of Governors notes that Congress has passed a spending bill that continues the long-time prohibition against reducing delivery days. As a result, the board says it believe that Congress “has left it with no choice but to delay implementation” of the five-day-a-week plan. Damn… Isht sounds like times are hard over there. Barack need to help ‘em get the dollars up!

Donor Pays Of Woman’s Student Loans Via NewsOne reports: When mom of five Starlie Becote (pictured with her children) was interviewed by USA Today back in December about how she lacked the funds to buy her children Christmas gifts, an anonymous donor came to the rescue in a major way. The Rhode Island single mother, who only makes $13.65 an hours as a case manager for a community mental health facility, was deep in debt. Becote owed $35,000 in student loans and just could not afford to pay the whopping $400 a month loan payment with incurring $6-per-day interest, in addition to her other monthly expenses. As a matter of fact, when Becote was on her way to the USA Today interview, she ran out of gas and had to borrow money in order to fill her tank. Last month, a businessman who had read the USA feature on Becote was so touched by her story that he decided to not only pay off her student loans; he wired her an additional $5,000 to help with her financial difficulties. The man asked that his name not be released, as he wanted to remain anonymous. Becote, who had hoped to put away the extra $5,000 for a rainy day, had to use much of the funds sooner than expected when her 2-year-old son contracted pneumonia and the potentially deadly staph bacteria, MRSA. The child remained in intensive care for two months and has recovered. Becote would have had to default on the loan if she could not pay it. The loan’s nonpayment would have put the kibosh on her chances of ever enrolling in grad school. Since Becote wants to become a licensed social worker, grad school is mandatory and thanks to the generous stranger with the huge heart, she is on her way to realizing her dream. You don’t hire a real estate agent to do neurosurgery.” Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports, which has partnered with Creative Artists Agency Sports, announced Tuesday that it has signed Cano as its first client. Cano, who will earn $15 million this year, will be eligible for free agency at the end of the 2013 season. Boras is known for encouraging players to become free agents rather than sign extensions with their current club. The threat of losing the best player on a roster full of aging and injured players would give Cano a boost in negotiations with the Yankees, the agent said. “The Yankees would love to get this done now,” the agent said. Jay-Z, of course, will not directly negotiate Cano’s next contract; those duties, according to the Roc Nation Sports announcement, be handled by a team led by CAA agent Brodie Van Wagenen. Wagenen and CAA aren’t exactly chopped liver; they represent Buster Posey, Ryan Braun, Matt Cain and Ryan Zimmerman. All four players have recently signed contract extensions exceeding $100 million. Stop And Frisk Instills Fear In Minorities Via NewsOne reports: During the ongoing “ stop and frisk ” trial in Manhattan’s federal court, a state senator said today that NYPD commissioner Ray Kelly implemented the program to “instill fear” in the minds of the city’s Black and Latino populations. Current and former police officials have already offered testimony surrounding the policy but the testimony from State Sen. Eric Adams (D-Brooklyn) may have been one of the most explosive to date, reports the New York Daily News. During a 2010 meeting between former Gov. David Paterson, State Sen. Marty Golden (R-Brooklyn), former Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries (D-Brooklyn) and Commissioner Kelly, Sen. Adams said he expressed concerns about the policy. But Kelly allegedly responded by saying that the shakedowns were necessary. “He stated that he targeted and focused on (Blacks and Latinos) because he wanted to instill fear in them that every time that they left their homes they could be targeted by police,” Adams said while questioned by plaintiff attorney Jonathan Moore. “First of all I was amazed that he was comfortable enough to state that that in that setting,” Adams continued. Sharon tells us how she shockingly learned that Roscoe fathered a secret love child with another woman while she was pregnant with their now 27-year-old son, Miles. Via NY Post reports: Sharon and Roscoe were never legally married, but lived together for 40 years and have four children. Roscoe, who played affable father figure Gordon for 30 years on “Sesame Street,” left Sharon in 2010 for Kimberley Lamarque, whom he married in December. Sharon last week exclusively told Page Six that Roscoe has left her “destitute” after moving on with Lamarque. She’s been evicted from their Montclair, NJ townhouse, and has filed a complaint in Superior Court of New Jersey for spousal support, arguing that the couple lived as man and wife for four decades. Now, Sharon tells us she received a paternity suit in the mail 27 years ago, when she was pregnant with Miles, who also appeared on “Sesame Street” with his father. “I was pregnant with my third kid. We were ecstatic,” Sharon said. “Then a paternity suit arrived in the mail. I’m pregnant, and another woman in a different state is pregnant at the same time.” Court records show complaints for child support against Roscoe filed in courts in New Jersey and Washington state on behalf of a Deborah Hill. The Post reported in 1988 that Roscoe was required to pay $5,000 in back child support for their daughter, Kalah, and $200 a month to Hill, a Beaverton, Ore., masseuse whom Roscoe met while in town for a “Sesame Street” appearance. Sharon told us that Roscoe paid Hill, who was on welfare after getting pregnant, child support until Kalah was 18, and put her through college. Meanwhile, Roscoe and Sharon had another daughter and stayed together in New Jersey. When asked why she didn’t leave Roscoe then, Sharon told us: “I wasn’t going to jump up and leave my family.” A lawyer for Roscoe didn’t get back to us.
