Anika Noni Rose Set To Star And Produce New Shirley Chisholm Biopic Actress Anika Noni Rose is set to only produce but star in a new biopic about the life and times of politician Shirley Chisholm according to Essence Magazine : A film about Shirley Chisholm, the first African-American woman elected to the United States Congress, is currently in development and Tony award-winning actress Anika Noni Rose is set to produce and star in the production. According to Shadow & Act, Viola Davis was originally attached to the film when it was first announced in 2010. Six Little McGhees Recreate Family Photo That Went Viral Six Years Ago The African-American family that broke the internet with their precious family pic is back at it again according to ABC News : Their iconic photograph broke the internet in 2010. And to celebrate their sixth birthday today, the McGhee sextuplets posed for yet another adorable family photo. While the original photo showed the naked newborns sleeping on their father, with their mother looking on lovingly, this time around, the siblings donned nude-colored tank tops and blue jeans. Photographer Brian Killian, who snapped the family’s photo in 2010 with the help of his wife, Janine Killian, told ABC News it was “fun to work with them again.” “Those children are so lovable,” the photographer of 25 years added. “They just want to hug you. They’re full of love and full of joy. They were great.” Brian Killian said the new photo took 15 minutes to shoot. Omar Mateen Identified As Pulse Nightclub Shooter The killer of 50 people in Orlando’s Pulse nightclub has been identified. Police report that 29-year-old Omar Mateen, a security officer, went on a rampage and shot over 100 people. TMZ reports: The killer in the Orlando nightclub slaughter is 29-year-old Omar Mateen. TMZ has done a records search and found he held a Florida security officer license and a state firearms license. He’s an American citizen and he has family that are not — his parents are Afghan. Authorities say he was a terrorist and was targeting gays. They say in addition to terrorism this is a hate crime. Authorities also believe he is part of the radical Islam movement, although they do not know if it was an organized attack or if he was a lone wolf. Law enforcement says he was well prepared, with an assault weapon, a handgun and 2 suspicious devices. 50 people were murdered and another 50 injured. Matten’s father has since said that religion did NOT play a part in his son’s rampage. Instead he said his son’s actions were prompted by his disapproval of homosexuality. New York Vandals Target The Gravesites Of Black War Veterans Vandals who desecrated the grave-sites of African American veterans have yet to be caught according to New York CBS Local : As CBS2’s Lou Young reported, the gravesites of veterans in the African-American section of Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye were vandalized over Memorial Day weekend. Flags were stolen and a stone was knocked over. The historic cemetery is no stranger to vandalism. There have been broken monuments and toppled tombstones before. “To have this happen to these veterans is just unconscionable,” said David Thomas of the Friends of the African-American Cemetery. American flags placed on the graves of African-Americans who served in four wars were stolen last Friday as Memorial Day approached. It happened in an old segregated burial ground – a resting place for 379 New Yorkers of color. Among them are 35 veterans of the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World War I, and World War II. It was a careful sacrilege that in many ways was more chilling than previous intrusions at the cemetery. People ain’t isht!!!!!

So Sad: 19-Year-Old Goes On A Killing Spree Inspired By ‘The Purge’ Movie We can deny the fact that violent films and video games have an impact on our kids, but real life crime proves otherwise. An I ndianapolis teenager named, Jonathan Cruz was recently arrested for 3 counts of murder for the shooting deaths of Billy Boyd and Jay Higginbotham on May 12, and Jose Ruiz on May 15. At only 19 years old, Jonathan went on a killing spree inspired by the movie, ‘The Purge’ which allows all crime to be legal for one night. After murdering three innocent, completely random victims each night of his “purge” Jonathan texted his mom about what he’d done. Upon further investigation, authorities found numerous text messages describing and explaining his three-day killing spree. Ironically, the third Purge movie will be released next month. Texas Teens Arrested For Spraying Whites Only All Over Rival School’s Fountains Texas Police have arrested five teens for spray painting racist and transphobic graffiti on several buildings at a rival high school as part of a “senior prank” last week according to WFAA reoirts: Christian Joeckel, Ryan Westbrook, Hayden Honolka, Cameron Bodenstab, and Ethan Sigmond were arrested after an investigation into racist, vulgar and anti-transgender graffiti was conducted on the school’s athletic facilities and restrooms. Joekel, Westbrook, and Honolka are all 17 years old; Bodenstab and Sigmond are 18. All are students at Arlington High, a rival school. According to arrest warrant affidavits, the graffiti included the phrase “whites only” spray painted above a water fountain and “trans only” defacing a men’s bathroom door. Vulgar language not appropriate for publication was painted on athletics banners and trash cans near the football stadium, according to an affidavit. Westbrook said the vandalism was part of a “senior prank,” according to an affidavit. He admitted to defacing a jungle gym with several markings, including the words “payback for the parking lot” and “muck f*** fartin martin.” “Anytime you have hateful messages, [it’s] very concerning,” Cook said. “We’re going to look at that to know who did this [and] what is the motivation?” Discuss.
