Source: Prince Williams / ATLPics.Net Karrueche and Jenn Lyon Talk About The New Season Of “Claws” The new season of “Claws” kicks off on Sunday night and BOSSIP’s Senior Content Director sat down with actresses Karrueche Tran and Jenn Lyon who play Virginia and Jennifer on the show. Check out our interview below: View this post on Instagram Kicked it with some of the @clawstnt cast • • • • • • #bossip #baenee #baeneebeworking #wcw #interview #claws #blackmedia #blackjournalists #goldenbolden #baeneebebusy #janeebolden A post shared by Janeé (@janeebolden) on Jun 6, 2019 at 11:39am PDT BOSSIP/ Janeé Bolden: Karrueche, your character Virginia was shot in the head at the end of Season 2, what did you think when you learned that was going to happen? Karrueche Tran: Actually there was a lot of back and forth with trying to figure out how the season was going to end. Of course you’ve got to end the season with a great cliffhanger. ‘ I forgot originally what it was. Jenn Lyon: We all took turns shooting Zlata but it didn’t get figured out until really late. It ended up that Dean got to do it. Karrueche Tran: I was so down for it. Cuz it’s a great ended. If anybody would have got shot, everybody would be like ‘Oh my God, are they gonna survive? I can’t wait for season 3.’ I love that kind of thrill of it all. Jenn Lyon: But people were in their feelings about it like, ‘if Virginia is dead I will riot.’ Karrueche Tran: The trailers are out now so people know I survived. And I have an eye patch now. JB: Speaking of the eye patch, I wanted to talk to you about that and just overall the insane wardrobes. Has any of that crossed over to your lives? Have you taken the eye patch home with you yet. KT: Listen, I hate that thing. She will tell you. Oh my God. JL: It really messed with her spacial awareness you know. And it didn’t help because we tease her mercilessly. We’ll ask her something and she’ll turn her whole body. KT: We had to do some activities and I was like ‘I have to do this with this thing on?’ JL: She was mean. We were like ‘Are you hungry?’ and she was like ‘No! I just have this stupid eye patch on.’ KT: Then between breaks I’d have half a face, my eye shadow wouldn’t be on because, for what? I wouldn’t have on lashes so I’d be walking around talking to people and they’d be like, ‘What’s wrong with your — oh the eye patch.’ JL: We gotta shot out Dolores, Dolores Ybarra — our wardrobe queen. The stuff she finds is just extraordinary. KT: She found several bedazzled eye patches, very Virginia. JB: Karrueche, I heard you researched exotic dancing by visiting Atlanta strip clubs. If Virginia were to dance in Atlanta, which club would she work at? KT: What’s the most poppin’ strip club in Atlanta? Onyx? Magic City? Follies? Cheetah is boring. I think Follies. Wait, no, because Follies is kinda nice like – Virginia comes from a ratchet place. But I guess Follies. I went to Follies during the day like 2’o’clock and did my research. ‘ JB: You guys have some musical numbers, you’re dancing this season. How was that? KT: Yeah I had to do that with the eye patch. JL: But they make it mesh so you can see a little bit. KT: Barely… JL: She’s still mad. Any surreal “Claws” moment, we love it. I come from like theater so any time we had free time I’d be like ‘let’s rehearse, like 5, 6, 7, 8.’ It feels like we are in school together or something. JB: Jenn’s character has a biracial daughter and this season her dad gets out of jail, your character really has to deal with these cultural issues, what did you think when you read that? JL: I really dug it, actually I pitched for him to get out of jail and for there to be that kind of conflict. It’s a microcosm of the tension and race relations that happen in a macro way. What happens when you’re afraid to lose something but you know you need to give up some of your control so your daughter can get a sense of her own culture? JB: Why is so hard to say no to Desna? She gets in trouble, gets out of trouble and doesn’t seem to know when to quit. KT: We’re very faithful but I think a part of us likes to live on the edge. We like the thrill. JL: Jenn tried to go to Tampa, but yeah I think we’re very faithful. It’s like saying no to your momma but also we want that bag. JB: Let’s talk about the relationships on the show — Jenn – she’s a drunk and he’s a crackhead — is there a happily ever after for you and Bryce? JL: I hope so. We’re both sober now and on the straight and narrow. He’s just my person. Jenn and Bryce they just get each other. And Kevin is just the best. KT: He is the best. JL: They get to work together more this season And they just laugh so much. JB: What about Virginia and Dean? KT: Ummm we are on a roller coaster this season, I can’t say much, I won’t say much, I don’t want to spoil but you’ll see. Jet Life Creative Director CJ Wallis Told To Hold Off From Producing Mac Miller Doc

See original here:

Source: Jessica Alexander/Future Image/WENN.com / WENN The Hip-Hop world lost one of its most talented acts in Mac Miller last year, and the void left by the Pittsburgh artist has been massive. Jet Life Creative Director CJ Wallis announced he was putting together footage for an upcoming documentary to honor the life of the late rapper. Deadline reports : Filmmaker and Jetlife Creative Director CJ Wallis announced today via Twitter that Margrette Bird Pictures, a film company he found with Mallory Kennedy, is working on a documentary about the late rapper Mac Miller. “So, over the next year I’m going to start collecting interviews & content to make the definitive @MacMiller documentary for his family, friends & fans,” he tweeted Monday morning. Wallis then encouraged everyone to share the post and tag anyone who would be good to interview for the docu. The outlet adds that Wallis, who has worked alongside Curren$y and Jet Life affiliates Wiz Khalifa among others, wanted to put out the film via New Orleans-based Margrette Bird Pictures at an upcoming later date. However, the family has asked Wallias and Margrette Bird Pictures to hold off on the project. UPDATE: We tweeted our intentions to begin developing a doc on Mac over the next year. At the same time, we reached out to all those closest to him to begin the process of making it official. 1/4 — FORTYFPS FILMS (@fortyfps) June 4, 2019 We heard back from @christianclancy & The Estate who said the family has requested we hold off on the project at this time. We immediately compiled as the last thing we'd want is to negatively impact anyone involved, quite the opposite. 2/4 — FORTYFPS FILMS (@fortyfps) June 4, 2019 We felt comfortable announcing our intentions in advance of receiving permission because they were just that – intentions. The concept was peers telling their one favorite Mac story & cutting them together as a motivational & positive picture. Not a life story. 3/4 — FORTYFPS FILMS (@fortyfps) June 4, 2019   The outpouring of support for the doc and that it was us trying to make one was humbling, and in time perhaps we will get to see it through. For now, we have hours of incredible music and thats always been more than enough. Respect/Love…. #ripmac — FORTYFPS FILMS (@fortyfps) June 4, 2019 — Photo: WENN

Chris Kattan: SNL Alum Says Lorne Michaels Pressured Him to Have Sex With Director

It’s a wild week for shocking accusations in celebrity memoirs. First, Lamar Odom claimed a pimp tried to kill him, and now former  Saturday Night Live star Chris Kattan has leveled some appalling accusations at iconic producer Lorne Michaels. Kattan was an SNL regular from 1996 to 2003. He played a number of recurring characters, most notably one half of the Roxbury Guys, alongside Will Ferrell. In homage to his most famous schtick, Kattan titled his newly-released memoir Baby, Don’t Hurt Me . And unlike SNL stars past, he didn’t hold back in his portrayal of the show’s famously domineering — and oddly humorous — creator, Lorne Michaels. When Roxbury was adapted into a movie in 1998 (for our younger readers — this used to be a common practice for popular SNL sketches), Amy Heckerling was tapped to direct. Following the success of such films as Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Clueless , Heckerling was one of the most in-demand comedy directors in Hollywood. And it seems Michaels was willing to go to great lengths to keep her attached to the project. Or more accurately, he was willing to pressure his employees to go to great lengths. “Paramount would only do the movie if Amy signed on as a director, not as a producer,” Kattan writes. “[Michaels] wanted to make sure the movie happened, then [he] had to keep Amy happy.” He recalls a phone call with Michaels in which his boss instructed in him just how to keep Heckerling happy” “Chris, I’m not saying you have to f–k her, but it wouldn’t hurt,” he recalls Michaels saying. And so, Kattan got it on with Heckerling — and was respectful to Lorne in the process: “She thought it would be fun to have sex on Lorne’s desk,” he writes. “Wow, what a great idea! Jesus Christ. I said a polite ‘F–k, no!’ to that, so we ended up going to her office and having sex on … yep, you guessed it, the ‘casting couch.’ ” Michaels’ camp has issued a firm denial, stating simply: “This did not happen.” Obviously, we can’t say for certain who’s telling the truth — but it would be a pretty random story for Kattan to make up 20 years later.

Who Will Receive John Singleton’s Money? Family Fights Over Filmmaker’s Will

See more here:

I t’s been a little more than a week since John Singleton died, but there was already a battle brewing over his fortune. The Oscar-nominated filmmaker and father of seven left a will that was from 1993 when he only had one child. Now the siblings were reportedly preparing for a battle in court. SEE ALSO:  John Singleton’s Family Moves To Protect His Assets Sheila Ward, Singleton’s mother who also handled all of her son’s business affairs, reportedly filed the 1993 will in court. TMZ reported that  “she listed his assets at around $3.8 mil. That means more than $31 million is unaccounted for.” Singleton’s estate was estimated to be worth $35 million. It is possible Singleton had a trust for his kids, which would mean they wouldn’t have to go through a will. As it stands now, under law all of the money would go to his firstborn, Justice. However, another of Singleton’s kids, Cleopatra, reportedly accused Ward of trying to block the children from the estate. TMZ also reported that if Singleton “had died without a will, Sheila would get nothing from his reported $35 million estate, because under California law the assets would be divided equally among his 7 children. But, since there’s a will, John decides who gets what, and who gets nothing. Given the business relationship between John and Sheila, it’s a safe bet she’s the executor of the will, which surely would not please Cleopatra.” Cleopatra filed a motion to block her grandmother’s proposed conservatorship and claimed Ward was trying to liquidate all of John’s assets and freeze out his children. TMZ also reported “the kids could file a separate lawsuit if they have beef over the trust or whatever John created to dispose of the $31 mil. A legal fight may not just pit grandma against grandkids … it could also pit some of the kids against the others.” Singleton was hospitalized last month after he suffered a stroke. The family decided to take the 51-year-old off life support on April 17, when he died . Singleton was reportedly experiencing weakness in his leg after flying back from Costa Rica before he suffered his stroke. The long flight may have triggered the medical emergency. Singleton is known for films like 1991’s “Boyz n the Hood,” which earned him Academy Award nominations for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. He was the youngest filmmaker to be nominated in those categories. He was also the first African-American to be nominated for Best Director. Rest in power, John Singleton. Jenni Farley to Roger Mathews: Way to Ditch Our Kids So You Could Rage!

According to Jenni Farley, she cannot stop smiling over the presence of  Zack Carpinello in her life. The Jersey Shore veteran and her 24-year old lover seem quite content with each other at the moment. Conversely, Farley has made it clear once again that she REALLY is displeased with estranged husband Roger Mathews right about now. Following an Easter Sunday in which Farley and Mathews put their differences aside in order to spend time as a family with their two young kids, something appears to have gone awry. For a reason Jenni tried to make clear in a scathing Tweet yesterday, she now has yet another reason to think Mathews is a very bad parent and role model. In her Instagram Story message, posted late on Sunday, the MTV personality best known as JWoww said that her son and daughter wouldn’t be spending the weekend with their dad because he wanted to “rage.” She later deleted the note, but nothing ever dies on the Internet. “When you find out on Wednesday your kids will be with someone other than their father over the weekend because he wants to rage during HIS time because it’s been planned ‘for months,'” Farley wrote along with rolling eyes emojis. “Yeahhhh ok. Loving all your ‘dad posts,'” she added, mocking Mathews for how often he claims to be a dedicated and loving father and concluding: “Please keep over posting…really shows how ‘involved you are.'” It certainly is true that during the crux of their VERY ugly exchanges late last year and earlier this year, Mathews often claimed that Farley was ignoring their kids in order to film Jersey Shore. After his estranged wife obtained a restraining order against him several months ago, Mathews went on an all-time Instagram rant . He trashed Farley as a fake and phony sand vowed that the “truth” would come out and that all he cares about in life is being a responsible parent. It hasn’t really been made clear exactly what Mathews was referring to at the time, but a sad truth has seemingly come out about him since this argument: He admitted in an open letter to having been abusive with Farley, as documented below: View Slideshow: Roger Mathews Pens Letter to Jenni Farley, Admits to Abuse In this case, JWoww’s post apears to be in response to Roger’s Instagram video, posted Saturday, showing him on a “rare dad night out.” “Had this night planned for a few months now,” Mathews wrote along with the video, adding: “Kids are enjoying a sleepover with my best friends kids @fitmom_meg and Dads going to see @louiedevito tonight with some 20 year friends @jamiemalloy35 @dannycars13 @maximillian143 @aimeedanger @chrissyjules. “Rare dad night out. Leeeeeeets goo.” We can totally understand Farley’s frustration here. Her kids and two and three years old, seemingly pretty young to have a sleepover. It also seems a bit odd for Mathews to celebrate a “rare” night out, considering he doesn’t have primary custody of these children. Farley filed for divorce from the 43-year-old truck driver in September of 2018 after a three-year marriage, full of ups and down. The reality star has since moved on with Carpinello, whom Mathews seemingly approves of, having been asked for his opinion by Us Weekly a few days back. “He seems like a terrific guy and they seem to really be happy, and I’m very happy for them,” Mathews told this tabloid shortly after it revealed her new man is the 24-year-old professional wrestler from New York. Mathews added at the time that Carpinello is a “good friend of her little brother” and that they’ve been dating for “a few months.” We’re very glad to hear it. And we hope, for the sake of their kids, that Jenni and Roger can find an amicable co-parenting solution in the near future. John Singleton Dies; Beloved Director Was 51

Very sad news today out of Hollywood. John Singleton, the Academy Award-nominated director and veteran of the entertainment industry, has passed away 12 days after suffering a stroke. He was 51 years old. As previously reported,  Singleton checked himself into the hospital in mid-April after suffering leg pain following a trip to Costa Rica. He then suffered a stroke a short while later while under doctor’s supervision. He had been in a medically-induced coma ever since, with his family announcing on Monday afternoon that it had made the impossible decision to remove the director from life support. “It is with heavy hearts we announce that our beloved son, father and friend, John Daniel Singleton will be taken off of life support today,” a statement from the Singleton family read. “This was an agonizing decision, one that our family made, over a number of days, with the careful counsel of John’s doctors.” The statement went on to reference Singleton’s breakout film, for which he became the first African-American ever nominated at the Oscars for Best Director. John grew up in South Central L.A with a love of cinema that showed itself early on. He went on to become one of the most lauded graduates of the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Within months of graduating, John returned to South Central to shoot his debut feature, Boyz N the Hood. The movie, which was unusually shot in sequence, masterfully captured a story of friendship, youth and the peril of hard choices in a community marred by gang violence. Singleton also directed such movies as Poetic Justice, Four Brothers and 2 Fast 2 Furious. More recently, he had moved over to television and helped produce the FX drama Snowfall. But it was Boyz N the Hood that truly put Singleton on the Hollywood map. “The film earned special honors at its debut at Cannes and Singleton went onto become the youngest director and first African-American writer-director nominated for the Academy Award,” the statement continued. “Two decades later, the film was placed in the Library of Congress, a marker of its cultural and historical significance.” Continues this statement: “John was such a supernova in his youth that we forget that he was only beginning to fully assert his gifts as a director. Kurosawa was 52 when he directed High Low. Hitchcock was 56 when he directed To Catch a Thief. “As much as we will treasure his body of work, we were looking forward to the films John would have made in the years ahead.” Singleton’s loved ones went on to cite the star’s hypertension diagnosis, an affliction that affects 40% of African-Americans. They urged everyone to visit Heart.org in order to learn more about this disease and its symptoms. “John’s confidence in his place in Hollywood was only matched for his passion for the sea,” concludes the statement. “John kayaked in Marina Del Rey every morning. His greatest joy, when not on set, was sailing his boat, J’s Dream, up and down the Pacific Coast. “The American writer Willa Cather once said, ‘There are some things you learn best in calm, and some in the storm.’ “We who have grown up with John, made movies with him, sailed with John and laughed with John, know the universe of calm and creativity he created for so many. Now in the wake of his death, we must navigate the storm without him. “It is, for us, heartbreaking.” Singleton is survived by his mother, Shelia, and his seven children: Daughters Justice, Hadar, Cleopatra, Selenesol, Issis, and his sons Maasai and Seven. May he rest in eternal peace. UPDATE: The family has released this statement since taking Singleton off life support and watching him pass away. It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved son, father and friend, John Daniel Singleton passed away today due to complications from a stroke he suffered last Wednesday. John Singleton was a prolific, groundbreaking director who changed the game and opened doors in Hollywood, a world that was just a few miles away, yet worlds away, from the neighborhood in which he grew up. In his private life, John was a loving and supporting father, son, brother and friend who believed in higher education, black culture, old school music and the power of film. John’s confidence in his place in Hollywood was only matched for his passion for the sea. John kayaked in Marina Del Rey every morning. His greatest joy, when not on set, was sailing on his boat, J’s Dream, up and down the Pacific Coast. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2019: In Memoriam
