Emma Watson ‘Perfect’ For ‘Beauty And The Beast’

Guillermo del Toro tells MTV News he’d rather direct the retelling than just produce. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Guillermo del Toro Photo: MTV News The pairing of Guillermo del Toro and Emma Watson on a “Beauty and the Beast” remake seems almost too good to be true, but the director confirmed to MTV News that the project is indeed in the works. “It’s one of those landmarks, one of those holy grails, and I really hope to do it,” del Toro said. “We’re just starting the process.” Originally, it was reported that del Toro would be producing the flick alongside “Crazy, Stupid, Love” producer Denise Di Novi, but he shared with MTV News that he would rather direct the movie. He said he’s starting to write the story line for it now while putting his alien movie “Pacific Rim” through production. Instead of a modernized take like this year’s “Beastly,” consider del Toro’s movie to be a classic retelling of the tale as old as time. He confirmed that his version will take place in the same period setting as the fairy tale; we’re hoping that means it will include some of the stylized visuals he’s become known for with “Pan’s Labyrinth” and the “Hellboy” movies. Del Toro didn’t have a timeline yet for when his first draft on “Beauty and the Beast” would be done, but he said it should be within the next few years. After all, he’d need it to be done by then for leading lady Watson to still be a prime choice for the role of the titular beauty. “It’s a movie that you have to make in the next few years for Emma to be perfect for the part,” he said. “I think she is the perfect character to do that movie.” Watson recently wrapped filming on “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” and, barring her potential involvement in Taylor Lautner’s “Incarceron,” has a free schedule for now. Kirsten Dunst on Her Nude Scenes in Melancholia: "Yes, I Do Have Big Boobs"

Danish director Lars von Trier is known for being an, ahem, rather unpleasant man- he refuses to fly, he psychologically tortures his leading ladies ( Nicole Kidman famously once asked him why he hates women), and recently he was banned from the Cannes Film Festival for saying he “understood” Hitler. But you gotta give the man one thing- he finally got Kirsten Dunst to bare her Kirsten cunst. We reported earlier this year that Dunst makes her full-frontal debut in Von Trier’s latest gloom-and-doom masterpiece, Melancholia – you can even catch a faraway glimpse of her totally nude and lying on a rock in the film’s trailer (seen at left). In advance of Melancholia ‘s stateside debut, Kirsten was interviewed by Elle magazine about her experiences filming the movie. Snatchurally, the subject of nudes came up: One of the surprises about Melancholia is Kirsten’s curvaceous body. She is naked in several scenes and as Von Trier refuses any form of retouching or airbrushing, surely it caused some anxiety? ‘I trusted everyone and the lighting was beautiful. I didn’t work out beforehand, it was all very natural. I don’t have any real body issues. I never really overeat, I shed weight in the summer, put it on in the winter and yes, I do have big boobs. People don’t realize because I cover up a lot, but they are there. Big boobs.’ Oh, we’ve realized for years, Kirsten- ever since that skintillating nip slip of yours in Crazy/Beautiful (2001). In other Von Trier nudes, the director has just announced his next project, the titillatingly titled Nymphomaniac . The movie will depict “the sexual evolution of a woman from birth to age 50″, and the always-tactful Dane has already confirmed that “As a cultural radical I can’t make a film about the sexual evolution of a woman from zero to 50 without showing penetration.” Oh, Lars. You’re a kook, but you’re our kind of kook. Members can see all the breast scenes from Lars von Trier ‘s movies, like Bryce Dallas Howard in Manderlay (2005) and Charlotte Gainsbourg in Antichrist (2009)- right here at MrSkin.com!

‘Cowboys & Aliens’: Everything You Need To Know!

As Jon Favreau’s flick hits theaters, we lasso up all the details about the much-anticipated flick. By Terri Schwartz Daniel Craig in “Cowboys and Aliens” Photo: Universal Pictures “Cowboys & Aliens” may be lassoing its way into theaters on Friday (July 29), but the movie’s journey to the big screen began a long time ago in a galaxy … well, not so far away. The current incarnation of Jon Favreau’s adaptation of Scott Mitchell Rosenberg’s 2006 graphic novel is a far cry from what the director had originally envisioned. When we first heard about the project back in ’08, it seemed to be shaping up to be “Iron Man 2.0,” with Favreau directing, “Iron Man” screenwriters penning the script and Robert Downey Jr. pegged as the flick’s leading man. “Cowboys & Aliens” was initially set to begin filming in 2009 , but with Downey Jr. unsure about committing to the role and Favreau still not officially onboard , things were still up in the air. Also by then, the “Cowboys & Aliens” script was in the capable hands of “Star Trek” writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman , who admitted that they had veered from the source material. In January 2010, Downey Jr. parted ways with “Cowboys & Aliens.” Fortunately, things started looking up only two days later, when it was announced that Daniel Craig was in talks to replace the “Iron Man” star as protagonist Zeke Johnson. In addition, the movie was set to start filming in July, potentially in 3-D . The casting announcements continued flowing in, including Olivia Wilde who came onboard as the movie’s leading lady. With the majority of the major players set to go, “Cowboys & Aliens” was given a July 2011 release date. In April 2010, rumors began to swirl that Harrison Ford would join “Cowboys & Aliens” . Favreau confirmed on Twitter that Han Solo himself would star opposite Craig and Wilde, making this one of the coolest casts around. The casting news just kept coming, with Noah Ringer , Sam Rockwell , Adam Beach , Paul Dano, Keith Carradine , Clancy Brown and Walton Goggins added as well. The buzz for the flick continued to grow right through to its 2010 Comic-Con presentation, where fanboys salivated at the news that Wilde had filmed a nude scene just days before the event. But it wasn’t until November that the rest of the world got a taste of what was in store. The first trailer arrived on November 17, and Favreau stopped by MTV’s offices to offer his own commentary on it. Then in February, another exciting new trailer aired during the Super Bowl . MTV News was lucky enough to get Favreau back for more trailer dissection . Plenty more “Cowboys” trailers followed, as well as clips . In mid-July, MTV News headed to Montana, where we chatted with the cast, including Craig and Wilde. Not long after that trip, Favreau stopped by our San Diego headquarters to talk about the movie’s big Comic-Con world premiere. It was the nerd event of the convention. ‘Breaking Dawn’ Star Taylor Lautner Praises ‘Dream’ Directors

‘Twilight’ heartthrob tells MTV News that working with pros like Bill Condon and John Singleton has helped him grow as an actor. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Taylor Lautner Photo: MTV News Taylor Lautner has had quite an impressive career for a 19-year-old. Since “Twilight” came out in 2008, he’s worked with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars and hottest directors and is primed to become the film industry’s next big action star when “Abduction” hits theaters in September. MTV News caught up with the “Breaking Dawn” actor at San Diego Comic-Con , and he talked about getting the opportunity to work with and becoming more comfortable around so much A-list talent. “All the directors in the ‘Twilight’ franchise have been amazing, [and] ending with Bill Condon, who’s just a dream,” Lautner said, “and then John Singleton [on ‘Abduction’]. And then all the actors and actresses I’ve been surrounded by, really, I couldn’t have done it without them, but they have definitely helped me throughout the past few years.” With “Abduction” and “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” both wrapped and set for release this fall, Lautner will be busy with press for those films but he also has some free time on his hands. And while the actor doesn’t have any projects lined up right now, he told us he’s looking at some possibilities. “We’re reading a lot [of scripts] right now and we will probably make that decision while I’m promoting,” he explained. “I’m gearing up because in two weeks, I’m off to the races. I start off in Australia and then I’m around the entire world for ‘Abduction,’ and then once again for ‘Breaking Dawn.’ ” Lautner added that he would love to do a comedy after the good feedback he got for his Funny or Die sketch “Field of Dreams 2.” He also teased that something could come of his recent meeting with director Gus Van Sant and screenwriter Dustin Lance Black . But Lautner is really looking forward to spending time with fans, many of whom would visit his “Abduction” set in Pittsburgh. The actor said he was always thankful rather than distracted by their presence. “There’s moments where it could impede the job, but I’m able to stay focused and be in character when I need to and snap right out of it and go over and talk to the fans and be with them for a while and go right back into it, which is great, because I have a lot of fun with them and I love them coming out and hanging with us,” he said. Chris Brown Video Director Calls VMA Noms ‘Crazy’

Colin Tilley tells MTV News it’s ‘really cool’ to see clips he helmed for Breezy and Justin Bieber getting awards-show nods. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Steven Roberts Chris Brown Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Colin Tilley has been having a heck of a year directing videos for Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Diddy-Dirty Money and Justin Bieber. Now, the California native finds two of his works nominated for the 2011 VMAs . Tilley’s clip for Chris Brown’s “Look at Me Now” is up for Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Collaboration, while his video for Justin Bieber’s “U Smile” garnered a nod in the Best Male Video category. “It’s crazy to see the videos that we’ve been doing getting awards, actually nominations in general, from the VMAs. It’s pretty amazing,” Tilley told MTV News on Tuesday when we visited the set of Wiz Khalifa’s upcoming “No Sleep” video. “As far as the hip-hop [category], ‘Look at Me Now,’ in general, is an amazing song. I remember when I got that song, I was like, ‘Jeez, this is a hit right here. This is just going to win some awards,’ as soon as I even I heard the song,” Tilley recalled of the vid that features both Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes. “The video just naturally and very seamlessly came together and we created something that I think is really cool.” While the director has worked most frequently with Brown — directing a number of his videos, including “Deuces,” “She Ain’t You” and “No BS” — Tilley also built a nice working relationship with Bieber after directing his 2010 visual for “Never Let You Go.” ” ‘U Smile’ was a very special video because I got to see Justin grow up. So we definitely went for this cinematic, stylized feel that really just showcased him as an iconic artist, as an icon in general,” the lens master said. “That was a really special experience. I remember the night before he had some award and he came to the set and he was really feeling himself. It was awesome.” You can vote for general VMA categories, including Best New Artist , by visiting VMA.MTV.com or m.mtv.com on your mobile phone. Jay-Z, Kanye Are ‘Young Legends,’ Otis Redding Daughter Says

‘I just think the collaboration was certainly a tribute to him, and it’s really great,’ Karla Redding-Andrews tells MTV News of the Throne’s ‘Otis.’ By Rob Markman Kanye West and Jay-Z Photo: Daniel Boczarski/ Getty Images Listening to the Throne ‘s “Otis,” it’s clear that Jay-Z and Kanye West are fond of Otis Redding’s classic soul sound. Well, it turns out Otis’ daughter Karla Redding-Andrews is a fan of both Hov and Yeezy. “Actually, those two artists are in my iPod,” she told MTV News on Tuesday (July 26) before citing Jay’s “Empire State of Mind” and ‘Ye’s 2005 album cut “Gone” as her two faves. On “Otis,” Kanye and Jay use a sampling of Redding’s 1996 version of “Try a Little Tenderness” . But before they could add the track to their upcoming Watch the Throne LP, they first had to get permission from Concord Music Group (which holds the song’s masters), Otis’ daughter and his wife, Zelma Redding. “When it was brought to us, it was quite interesting. We wanted to, first of all, see the lyrics and, secondly, hear the song,” Redding-Andrews said. “We couldn’t find anything negative as it relates to the association with Otis Redding. My mother has protected that legacy for so many years; therefore she gave them the approval to do it.” For the Redding family — who also run the Big “O” Youth Educational Dream Foundation, which teaches music to 30 youngsters yearly — it was significant that the Throne’s sample would help to keep Otis’ legacy alive. “It really means a lot to me, particularly to a whole new generation of young legends, because that’s what Jay-Z and Kanye are,” Redding-Andrews said. “I just think it’s wonderful to tie an old legendary artist whose music history will never die to something [that] they have come up with. I just think the collaboration was certainly a tribute to him, and it’s really great.” In September, the foundation will celebrate Otis’ 70th birthday anniversary with an entire weekend of festivities, including a concert in Macon, Georgia, that they have dubbed “An Evening of RESPECT.” Ultimately, “Otis” is exposing a new generation to Redding’s music in a very hip and cool way. “With what we do with our foundation — pairing music with education, always involved with young people — how can I not be a fan of Kanye West and Jay-Z?” Redding-Andrews said. Are you a fan of Jay and Kanye’s “Otis”? Tell us in the comments! Related Artists Jay-Z Kanye West
