The service also reached thousands of Peep’s fans via live stream, where it now lives on YouTube. Lil Peep’s mother Liza Womack , spoke proudly of her son’s legacy. “He lived his own life on his own terms,” she declared. “He was a stubborn, driven, talented, crafty, observant, and tender young man. Gus was also vulnerable.” Peep’s grandmother Jenny Kastner read letters from fans while visitors were encouraged to write messages on a memorial banner in honor of the late rapper. Rock band Good Charlotte paid homage by performing a rendition of Peep’s song “Awful Things”, which was shown towards the end of the service. Lil’ Peep passed away from a suspected overdose on November 15th. He was 21 years old. Check out footage from the service below. SOURCE: HNHH | IMAGE CREDIT: Getty
Tobacco giant R.J. Reynolds , the top seller of Newport cigarettes — the most favored by many black smokers — has been enlisting black groups, leaders, and activists, including Rev. Al Sharpton and ex-Florida Congressman Kendrick B. Meek, to hold meetings at prominent black churches on the theme of “Decriminalizing the Black Community.” A FairWarnings report notes that the company “is seizing on the hot-button issue of police harassment of blacks to counter efforts by public health advocates to restrict menthol sales.” The report goes on to say that “Sharpton and Meek, along with speakers from groups involved in criminal justice reform, have warned of the unintended consequences of banning” menthol cigarettes. The meetings have been held at churches in cities including Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and Oakland. There’s concern that banning the minty cancer sticks will create an underground market and give police new reasons to harass and lock up black males. R.J. Reynolds has reportedly paid travel costs for the panelists and contributed to their organizations. However, promotional flyers (here, here and here) suggest that Sharpton and his National Action Network are the main sponsors of the meetings, rather than the tobacco company. Anti-smoking advocates have blasted the campaign as deceptive and a scare tactic. “How can the tobacco industry care about criminalization when they don’t even care about killing you?’’ said LaTrisha Vetaw, who attended a Jan. 25 meeting at the Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Minneapolis, where a few dozen people turned out to hear Sharpton and be treated to a lunch of chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans and cake. Sharpton led protests against police abuses following the death of Eric Garner, who was choked out by a psycho cop in 2014 for selling untaxed single cigarettes. Sharpton has not made up his mind about a menthol ban, according to a tape of the meeting. “I am not on either side of the argument,” he said. ”I want to hear and listen.” He expects the National Action Network to take a position on a menthol ban at its convention in April. In an interview with FairWarning, Sharpton said Meek, a Reynolds consultant who serves as moderator at the meetings, ”asked us to consider the unintended consequences of a menthol ban,” and also asked him to appear at several of the churches. Meanwhile, Najee Ali — Sharpton’s political director of NAN in Los Angeles — issued the following statement to EUR regarding the issue: I was paid a small sum to invite a group of leading South L.A community leaders for a private presentation on the [tobacco issue] a few weeks ago. But after listening to the presentation myself I realized that I didn’t want an association with a corporation that is responsible for so much death, disease, and suffering. I apologized to all my colleagues I had invited afterwards. This is a modern day example of an old tobacco industry tactic. The tobacco industry has a long history of co-opting community leaders and organizations through financial donations and sponsorship. In doing so, the tobacco industry is able to buy silence. The tobacco industry has been spending money for decades to create beautiful lies to hide the ugly truth. Those lies are spread by community leaders who should be ashamed of themselves for selling out and selling death to those who believe and trust them. I’m not sure what Rev Sharpton, or Rev K.W.Tulloss the Western Regional Director of the National Action Network position is on this. But I trust and support them. They can speak for themselves. My position is clear I love my people too much to betray them. Like BlackAmericaWeb.com on Facebook . Follow us on Twitter and Instagram Sign Up For Our Newsletter! Close Thank you for subscribing! The past few weeks have brought a number of surprising allegations against some of the most influential men in Hollywood, most notably, formerly esteemed mogul Harvey Weinstein. Just kidding, no one was actually surprised that Weinstein is a gross predator who’s been using his power to get away with all manner of despicable things for decades. In fact, here at THG, we’ve been reporting on harassment allegations against Weinstein for years . We say that not to pat ourselves on the back, because that would be incredibly gross, but merely to point out that anyone who’s paid attention to Weinstein’s career knows that allegations of sexual misconduct have consistently clung to him like a bad smell. And if they claim otherwise, they’re full of it. (We’re looking at you, Matt Damon.) Hollywood insiders like to throw around the term “open secret” because it’s acknowledging the ugly truth of the situation: There are certain people in Hollywood who can get away with literally anything–including harassment and rape–and everyone who’s lower than them on the totem pole will ignore it, because they hope to one day be that powerful themselves, and they know that guys like Weinstein hold the keys to the castle. Of course, this sort of behavior isn’t limited to the movie business. There are predators in every line of work, and many will happily abuse the smallest modicum of power. Take, for example, famed photographer Terry Richardson. Just when you didn’t think it was possible for anyone to be a more obvious perv than Weinstein, along comes the revoltingly-nicknamed “Uncle Terry.” You may not be surprised by the fact that a man who’s bragged about his talent for convincing reluctant celebrities to take their clothes off has some issues with boundaries, but apparently many of his colleagues were. Richardson is a household name in the worlds of fashion and photography, and you may know him as the director of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” video and the man whose name is mentioned alongside every self-consciously “artsy” black-and-white nude photo of a famous person. Unfortunately for Richardson, it seems that in the wake of the Weinstein allegations, he’s now the latest to be called out by numerous women who claim he’s guilty of various acts of harassment and abuse. According to the New York Post , publishing powerhouse Condé Nast has already cut ties with Richardson and ordered that all work of his that’s been commissioned but not yet used should be “killed or substituted with other material.” Other major media outlets that have used Richardson’s work in the past are expected to follow suit. Details about the allegations against Richardson are scarce at this time, but it’s telling that none of his current or former colleagues are rushing to the photographer’s defense. In fact, the biggest question being asked today has nothing to do with Richardson’s conduct, and everything to do with why it took so long for the industry to drum him out.
School administrators in a community outside of Boston, Massachusetts, offered an apology after a photo appearing to show a young Black girl held on a leash by two white students, swept the internet. The photo shows an instructor along with two white students and one black student decked out in 17th-century attire, while the two white students held a leash attached to the young Black girl kneeling on the floor. According to The Boston Globe , the photo was taken during an October 13 class discussion when a member of the Plimoth Plantation historical museum visited the class for a history lesson. Bridgewater is a small town located 32 miles south of Boston, Massachusetts. In an email obtained by The Globe, Derek Swenson , superintendent of the Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District, apologized for the optics but went into great detail to give the photo context. School officials would not go into specific details or name the involved parties in order to protect the minors involved. “Through our investigation, it was explained by the director of education from Plimoth Plantation that a portion of the lesson focused on 17th century attire — particularly the garments worn by parents, children, toddlers, and infants,” he said. “Specifically the garment worn by toddlers commonly used tethering straps to assist them when learning to walk.” Rob Kluim, the museum’s spokesperson, also apologized for the photo in a statement to The Globe. He explained the students and instructor were depicting a 17th Century family, mother and her three children, with one of the children wearing a garment with leading strings. “We are deeply saddened by this, as our museum’s educational mission is to provide fun and engaging encounters with the history of the 17th-century Atlantic world,” Kluim said. Ana De Armas is some Cuban Actress who has escaped Cuba or in exile due to breaching the communist regime, or maybe she was hot enough to get married to a Foreigner who was there on vacation, something we see a lot of in Canada, because Cuba was the asshole resort destination for poor white people the entire time the USA was blocking Cuba out for Communism… So for 40 years, we’ve had hot cuban chicks like we were Florida roll through and set up shop here, but more interestingly, I’ve known so many perverts who would go down to Cuba for months at a time to fuck these hot young things… Ana De Armas isn’t quite young, but she is hot, and I guess strategic, or very rich…as she’s been cast in the new Blade Runner, I’d wonder how that happened, but remember the director is from Montreal, and Montrealers love Cuba, to go down and have a slice of paradise and cheap, we’re taking 40 dollar whores… MAGICAL times…and here she is whoring for hollywood…in the Blade Runner Trailer… – She did GQ to promote Blade Runner..I guess she’s the new Margot Robbie…you know naked chick in a big movie to become legit… The post Ana De Armas Tits for Blade Runner of the Day appeared first on DrunkenStepFather.com .
The Teen Mom franchise has produced a lot of entertainment. It’s also churned out some reality stars who aren’t such great people. Chelsea Houska is one of the exceptions, though. She loves her children and just generally doesn’t come across as vapid or that much of a hot mess. So … color us surprised that Chelsea Houska’s in trouble. Like, legal trouble. Don’t worry — despite what Teen Mom ‘s editors might show you, Chelsea Houska doesn’t neglect her daughter in favor for her baby. In fact, the alleged violation for which she’s been singled out has nothing to do with being a mom at all. Not directly, anyway. Chelsea Houska was one of 21 recipients of sternly worded letters (anything from the government is stern; it’s hard to “smile” in legalese). From the FTC. And it all has to do with Instagram ads. You know, when a celebrity poses with some kind of weight loss tea or talks about how much they love their new, like, makeup kit while showing the kit and saying the name of the brand? The kind of thing that we’ve seen from a bazillion celebs. It’s what got a bunch of haters to slam Amy Roloff the other day. This isn’t about income disclosure. That would be a letter from the IRS and, frankly, probably a lot scarier. But the Federal Trade Commission has had it up to here with celebrities who don’t “properly disclose” their ads. The FTC argues that merely tagging a brand counts as an endorsement. They’re real sticklers about their rules. Just like how pharmaceutical commercials (here in the US, pretty much the only place on the planet where you’re allowed to advertise prescription drugs) have to list all of the many ways that their drug might somehow harm or kill you … Just like how commercials have to list that the people speaking are paid actors (even if it’s in the fine print that nobody reads) … … Instagram ads are supposed to be tagged plainly. With “#ad.” And apparently a number of stars, including Chelsea Houska and Farrah Abraham, haven’t exactly been doing that. We’d question whether anyone old enough to use Instagram is naive enough to think that those transparent advertisements are just celebrities casually plugging products for fun. Like, if someone talks about liking their favorite soda, maybe they just do that. But an Instagram post about it, mentioning the brand and holding up the label for the photo? You’d think that you’d have to be a fool to not realize that, at the very least, that star has gotten some free stuff out of the deal. In most cases, they’re monetizing it. On the other hand … the world is full of fools and they deserve honesty, too. Instagram ads can be a huge source of money, from a regular Instagram model to Kylie Jenner. Whether it’s a fitness model showing off the protein powder that they almost definitely don’t use to a reality star showing off a corset that almost definitely didn’t make her lose weight, Instagram ads are a huge business. We can understand why the FTC feels the need to clamp down … even if “#ad” looks so tacky in people’s captions. We wonder if maybe the FTC needs to reconsider some of its rulings, though. Sure, it’s a big business — some public personalities pull down six figures a year on Instagram ads alone. (Others are said to pull down six figures per post … mostly just Kylie Jenner) But … are there similar rules in place for product placement on television shows and in films? When someone on television drinks a specific name-brand soda or even walks in front of a sign for a fast food place, that’s not a coincidence. Usually, the company paid for that to happen. “Ad” doesn’t show up anywhere on the screen. Some might argue that featuring something in your social media posts is akin to a film’s product placement rather than being more like a commercial. Technology changes all of the time. Sometimes it takes the law a while to catch up.
As we know, Danielle Mullins is not getting her own makeover show . It was totally in the works (if not yet a done deal), but not anymore. That’s what happens when you have a falling out with the media company that represents you. That company stated their reasons for terminating their relationship, but now Danielle is speaking out and sharing her side. In a surprising number of cases, 90 Day Fiance is a story about people journeying across the globe and leaving behind friends and family for love. They get married and start families. A lot of them seem to be set up for their happily ever afters. But, as always, there are a few bad apples in the bunch. In the case of 90 Day Fiance , these “apples” are relationships. Danielle Mullins’ relationship with Mohamed Jbali was rotten to the very core. From the start of their marriage, there were problems. Danielle accused Mohamed Jbali of cheating on her and demanded that they have sex. ( Danielle and Mohamed did bang , but only the once — to consummate their marriage) Mohamed accused Danielle of lying about her criminal record and of misusing his credit card and identity. He also complained that Danielle had a foul body odor and that she needed to seek medical help for it. The end result? A divorce so bitter that, even though they’re now exes, Danielle has been actively seeking to have Mohamed deported. Mohamed Jbali is done with 90 Day Fiance , and it looks like Danielle is, too. But Danielle was all set to get her own makeover show. She’d even lost weight in preparation for it. Thanking her haters for her new career , Danielle Mullins had signed with GR Media, the same company that had represented Mama June for her makeover show. GR Media told their side of things. It seemed that there was a battle of wills over control over Danielle Mullins’ social media accounts. Danielle wanted to post photos of her friends and family. She apparently also used social media to answer questions about restricted information. Allegedly, Danielle demonstrated such an instability that GR Media nearly took out a restraining order against her. Well, now Danielle is sharing her side of things in a lengthy Facebook post. “I would like to thank my supporters for supporting me this season. Due to difference of opinion, and much speculation by parties, it is unfortunate that me, GR Media, and BMB Management have to part ways.” And maybe we’ll get some answers. Or Danielle’s version of them. “I am writing this to clear up a couple of things that was stated in an article by Starcasm giving Gina’s side. I signed with BMB Management which is owned by Brandilyn Snail and I have never talked to her nor met while being signed to her company. My dealings were with Gina R odriguez and I only talked to her a few times on the phone and rest of the activity was done by text messaging.” Okay. “I only talked to Natasha Fett a couple of times on phone to and then rest by text messaging. I have been accused of extremely unstable behavior by all three which is not the case. How can they say that when they have never met me in person.” For the record, you can totally come across as unstable via text message. People do it all of the time. “They get that by what is already out there and has been portrayed on the show and that is sad to say that about someone you have never met. Furthermore they set me up to fail at this makeover excepting me to lose 20 pounds in a week to two weeks.” But it sounds like there’s hope for Danielle’s fans, as she still wants to go through this. “I am moving on from this on my own weight lose journey or with the help of another manager.” “I am grateful for the connections I’ve made and the friendships I’ve formed during this time. I wish continued success to my former management team and I implore my fans to take caution when reading certain stories as they pertain to the events that supposedly have taken place.” We’ll give her this much — she sounds super professional. “Again, I wish the best for all involved and I am looking forward to what the future holds for myself. Thank You ” If she does her weight loss journey on her own, we can expect a way lower budget and maybe some social media videos. If another agency decides to sign her, maybe she’ll get along better with them. In that case, we could be looking at Danielle Mullins on her own show. It would be a limited series, sure. But she’d still keep her name out there. Only time will tell, we guess. View Slideshow: 90 Day Fiance Couples: Who’s Still Together?
Early Thursday morning, Selena Gomez revealed that she’d had a kidney transplant after her friend, Francia Raisa, donated it. Even at the time, we figured that she wasn’t Instagramming the news live from the hospital bed. When Selena was seen out and about that day, it was even more obvious. Now we know a little more about her surgery timeline — and what inspired Francia to make such a generous, beautiful donation. Francia Raisa is clearly a ride-or-die kind of friend. Selena Gomez was diagnosed with Lupus in 2015. In October of that year, she revealed this information with the world and revealed that part of her treatment involved undergoing chemotherapy. Lupus is a serious and sometimes fatal illness, so even a treatment as intense as chemo is sometimes necessary. In May of this year, Selena suffered kidney failure and was rushed to the hospital. In June, she underwent a kidney transplant, receiving the vital organ from her friend and “sister,” fellow actress Francia Raisa. And now we know more about her: Sources tell Us Weekly a little more about Selena Gomez’s friends and how Francia came to make this monumentally generous decision. “Francia and Selena are like sisters. There’s a group of girls who have always stuck close to Selena.” That’s good to hear. And, of course, we already knew that Francia and Selena were like sisters — they use that word to describe each other all of the time on social media. “Her inner circle is very tight and everyone protects Selena. Francia comes from a big family … Selena is like a sister to her. Selena didn’t ask Francia to be tested as a match — Francia is the kind of person who would offer to do that for any one of her friends.” What a remarkable, amazing woman. “Francia told a few people in her inner circle that she was donating one of her kidneys, but no one knew who it was for.” That’s a huge secret to keep under wraps for so long. “A lot of people in their inner circle knew that Francia was undergoing surgery but really didn’t ask too many questions.” That sounds so dramatic, right? “Inner circles” and “not asking questions” sound like things that you’d say about a secret society or a cult. This is just a group of friends. (Believe me; if there were a cult revering Selena Gomez, I’d know … because I’d be part of it) Francia has already spoken out, saying that giving Selena her kidney changed her own life. Us ‘ sources provided an update on how Francia is doing, and what was behind her remarkable choice. “Francia is totally fine now, she’s back to normal. Francia lives a very healthy lifestyle and she’s busy with work. The recovery time for her was very quick.” That’s wonderful news. “They’ve always been very spiritual and into God, and even more so now. They both prayed a lot about this surgery and once Selena’s health issues got worse.” Faith can be a powerful comfort and a great way for two people to bond. “They’ve thought of each other as sisters, and beyond their obvious bond through work and womanhood, they also share a lot through their faith and being Latina. Francia is incredibly supportive and would provide a shoulder to cry on for any friend in need. She really is a wonderfully special person.” Us Weekly also connected the dots and figured out a bit more about Selena’s surgery timeline. Last month, Selena Gomez praised the work of Director Josh Sadie and producer Sebastian Bear Mc-Clard while hosting a screening for their film, Good Time . That’s no big deal on its own, of course — Selena is vocal about supporting her friends. And nothing about enjoying a movie screams “I have somebody else’s kidney!” But at that screening, Selena revealed that she had been on bed rest in recent weeks. At the time, that could have been anything — but most assumed that it had something to do with Selena’s battle with Lupus. it did. Just … because she had just received a kidney transplant.
