True Or False?? Did One Of Hef’s Heffas Spread Legionnaires’ Disease To 80 Guests At The Playboy Mansion????

Pop the top to see what exactly went down at the punanny playhouse. All things considered, there are probably worse things that one could contract while f*ckin’ around at the Playboy Brothel Mansion. Can the Playboy Mansion make you ill? Hugh Hefner’s iconic bachelor pad is under investigation after more than 80 guests at a conference and party there became sick with a suspected strain of Legionnaires’ disease. Scores of attendees at the Domainfest conference in Santa Monica, held Feb. 1 to 3, came down with symptoms including fever, respiratory infections and violent headaches. Four Swedish guests were diagnosed with Legionellosis or pontiac fever — a milder form of Legionnaires’ caused by bacteria that thrives in warm air-conditioning systems. Now some victims are blaming a fog machine which steamed up the conference finale party on Feb. 3. DNJournal.com editor Ron Jackson, whose wife, Diana, was stricken, said, “So far, the number [of victims] is around 80. Everybody says they became ill around 24 hours after the party. Jackson said, “Four guys from Sweden were diagnosed with [Legionellosis], and they have the same symptoms as everyone else. I don’t want to point the finger at the Playboy Mansion, but the disease lives in warm water, and people were engulfed in mist at that party.” He’s filed a report with the CDC. New Yorker Elliot J. Silver, who runs Silver Internet Ventures, also fell prey to the bug. He said, “It is scary everyone came down with the same thing at the same time. It knocked me on my ass. A lot of people are blaming the Playboy Mansion on the blogs, but you can’t be sure.” A rep for Domainfest said it was working with the LA County Health Department to investigate: “There were events every night, and we are giving them a list of all the venues. We have no idea what this is or where it came from. The mansion being to blame is, at the moment, pure speculation.” A Playboy rep claimed, “There is no truth in the rumor that anyone caught anything at the Playboy Mansion. Nor is there any evidence. None of the Playboy staff became ill, the deejay was in the middle of the fog and she didn’t get ill. We have been contacted by the Health Department and the Playboy Mansion is cooperating fully with the investigation.” Hopefully, all of the folks that became sick recover, especially since there is a relatively high rate of death for those that contract the disease. Wonder which one of Hef’s heffas brought this bullsh*t in with them? Source

$1.4 Billion Later: Where Did All The Haiti Relief Money Go?

It has been a year since a tragic earthquake left Haiti devastated and killed more than 300,000 people. Despite more than $1.4 billion in relief aid donated, little progress can be seen in the country and people are asking: Where’d the money go? PORT-AU-PRINCE—Last January, hundreds of thousands of Haitians lost their lives and millions lost their homes in an earthquake that flattened much of the capital. A year later, Haitians appear to have lost something else: hope. The impoverished Caribbean nation marks the anniversary of the Jan. 12, 2010, quake on Wednesday with little to cheer. Haiti’s government, which itself was hit hard by the quake, has been incapable of responding to the crisis. Foreign aid has trickled in, and a rush of well-meaning charities have led to chaos. Piles of rubble still clog the streets; at the current rate, it will take 20 years simply to clean up the mess. Nearly a million people still live in about 1,300 makeshift refugee camps that occupy every available parking lot and open space in the capital. With each passing day, the camps take on a more permanent look. “We are just completely discouraged now,” said Fai-na Bernadette, a 24-year-old nurse who has been living in a soccer field in Petionville, a suburb of the capital, alongside 3,000 other refugees. Carleene Dei, director of the United States Agency for International Development told reporters in a January 7 conference call that there was a “lack of understanding” about the pace at which pledges from March’s donors conference could be met, referring to the UN conference where nations pledged more than $10 billion to help Haiti rebuild itself. “A pledge is not a check,” she said. “A pledge has to be turned into legislation. Legislation has to be turned into plans. Plans have to be vetted and approved. And money has to be made available.” Tragic. Source

Poultry, Beef More Likely to Make You Sick, CDC Says

Credit: VirtualErn via Flickr. If you want to reduce your chances of foodborne illness, go veggie. That’s one take away from a new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report linking types of food to illness outbreaks in the U.S. Of course, you can’t blame the poultry or beef. And even vegetables can make you sick if they’re not properly handled or prepared. Maybe another take away is the need for stricter enforcement of health codes. … Read the full story on TreeHugger

VIDEO: Watch Charlton Heston, Man of Leisure, Explain the ‘X’ Rating

It’s Friday! The drinks are flowing early at Movieline HQ East, where the discovery of a vintage Charlton Heston/MPAA ratings advisory on YouTube has left even the cleaning lady in a state of transfixed awe. It’s not just the corniness of it all; in fact, Heston’s earnest, ambassadorial zeal for explaining the G, PG, R and X ratings (this thing is at least 40 years old) yields a bittersweet taste of Hollywood’s Golden Era. Or that could just be the cheap gin. And God only knows who decided to shoot this on a tennis court. Soak it all in after the jump.

REVIEW: [REC] 2 Just Another Visit to the Horror-Franchise Ghetto

[REC] 2 relies almost entirely on its tunnel-vision, single-player style for its scares. It’s a strategy that stalls out halfway through, which means it works for twice as long as it should. Picking up where the 2007 sleeper hit [REC] left off, this Spanish horror trip sets up its premise while efficiently establishing its style: A SWAT team is suiting up and turning on its helmet cams (we’re given one soldier’s perspective, though other cameras are occasionally patched in) in order to escort a health inspector (Jonathan Mellor) into a quarantined building. No one is quite sure what the disease is or how it manifests itself, but it’s killing the people inside. [REC] 2 executes its one big twist almost immediately; the series of aftershock-like twists in its wake occur with descending intensity. The last one wouldn’t rattle a teacup.

Lady Gaga Opens Up About Her Health Issues In Rolling Stone

‘I make much more of an effort now to minimize the drama or the stress,’ she says of lupus running in her family. By James Montgomery Lady Gaga on the July 2010 issue of Rolling Stone Photo: Rolling Stone Earlier this month, Lady Gaga frightened fans when she revealed to Larry King that she had been tested for lupus and that results had shown she was “borderline positive” for the disease. “Lupus is in my family and it’s genetic, and it’s funny, ’cause my mother told me the other day that my fans were quite worried about me, because I did talk about the fact that I was tested for lupus,” Gaga told King. “And the truth is, I don’t show any signs, any symptoms of lupus, but I have tested borderline positive for the disease. So as of right now, I don’t have it. But I do have to take good care of myself.” And in the upcoming issue of Rolling Stone magazine — which hits newsstands Friday — Gaga expounds even further on her condition, telling writer Neil Strauss that she doesn’t want her fans to worry about the disease and that she’s already taking steps to ensure she’ll remain healthy in the midst of her seemingly endless world tour. “It’s more making sure that I reduce stress in my life to make sure I don’t develop [the disease],” she said. “I make much more of an effort now to minimize the drama or the stress. … I take care of myself. I drink and still live my life, but I could never let my fans down. That would kill me to have to face that extra obstacle every day to get onstage. It’s completely terrifying, so I’m just really focused on mind, body and soul.” Gaga also said that, though she’s been tested for lupus, she’s not interested in following doctor’s orders when it comes to preventing the disease. Rather, since lupus is thought to be hereditary, she’s sought the advice of her family on how to live. “It’s in my family, so I don’t really listen to doctors very much when it comes to it, because it’s so personal,” she said. “I talk to people that I know that have it or my father, whose sister died from it. There’s nothing to worry about, but I do get very tired sometimes, and I naturally wonder [about the disease].” And to that end, Gaga admitted to Strauss that she does worry sometimes about the effect her schedule (and her fame) has on her health but that she continues to press on, no matter what those closest to her may be saying. “I don’t want to be [a hypochondriac], so most of the time, I’m like, ‘F— it, I’m fine,’ ” Gaga told Strauss. “At a certain point, you’re so beyond the point of exhaustion that you don’t know: Do I have a health problem that may or may not be real, or am I just really tired?” Are you worried about Gaga’s well-being? Let us know in the comments. Related Photos The Evolution Of: Lady Gaga Related Artists Lady Gaga
