Back in the simpler world of 2015, many believed that sexual misconduct allegations against Donald Trump would prevent the reality-star-turned-demagogue from being elected president. Obviously, that turned out not to be the case, and the current climate in the United States is about what one would expect from a country that’s presided over by an accused rapist. As a longtime denizen of the New York literary scene who once cohabited with Hunter S. Thompson, journalist and author E. Jean Carroll is certainly no stranger to bad behavior from powerful men. She details several traumatic encounters with toxic male behavior in an excerpt from her upcoming memoir that was published on Friday on New York Magazine ‘s website. One account has attracted far more attention than the other, as the alleged assailant went on to become the President of the United States. Carroll says she met Trump while shopping at Manhattan’s Bergdorf Goodman department store in “the fall of 1995 or the spring of 1996.” Both she and Trump were in their fifties at the time, and he was married to his second wife, Marla Maples. Carroll writes that Trump told her he was shopping for a present “for a girl” and asked for her help. He suggested lingerie and convinced her to try it on for him. Once she was in the dressing room, Carroll claims, Trump assaulted her. “The next moment, still wearing correct business attire, shirt, tie, suit jacket, overcoat, he opens the overcoat, unzips his pants, and, forcing his fingers around my private area, thrusts his penis halfway — or completely, I’m not certain — inside me,” Carroll writes. “It turns into a colossal struggle.” Obviously, there’s nothing funny about this horrific allegation. But Carroll deserves credit for hitting Trump where it hurts and understanding that he’s more likely to be upset by the suggestion that he might be sporting a half-wang than by yet another allegation of sexual assault. After all, she is now the sixteenth woman to accuse the president of some form of sexual misconduct, and thus far, Trump hasn’t even come close to suffering any sort of repercussions. No criminal investigation, no impeachment, not even a formal censure. It’s always an act of bravery to come forward against a sexual predator, but when said predator is the most powerful man in the world and has been getting away with this sort of thing his entire life, calling him out publicly requires unfathomable courage. We applaud Carroll for coming forward and encourage anyone who might be in her position to do the same. After all, it’s becoming increasingly evident that our future relies on fearless individuals willing to defend the ideals and values that were once protected by law and order. Less than two months later…Ferguson happened. The uprising that occurred in the Missouri city showed the outrage people felt after another unarmed Black person, Michael Brown , was killed by the police. This time, however, people were getting organized around the country and the weeks that followed were filled with heated online debates, news coverage and a new awareness of police brutality and Black oppression. Since then, a plethora of movements have followed suit pertaining to women’s rights, LGBTQ rights and more. Tensions probably hit a national peak in 2016 when Donald Trump was elected President of the United States. Could Aaron McGruder , the creator of The Boondocks, have predicted all this? Source: L. Cohen / Getty Now, in 2019, there’s even more to talk about and McGruder might partake with his signature satire in a Boondocks reboot. According to Deadline , Sony announced the reboot at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival on Wednesday. They say the reboot will be a “complete re-imagining” of the previous show and it “chronicles the adventures of the Freeman family against the evil local government tyrant Uncle Ruckus, who rules fictional Woodcrest County, Maryland with an iron fist.” Well…it definitely sounds interesting. With such a grand set-up, the show could be a more serialized comedy with different story arcs that last multiple episodes. But the question remains, what kind of political themes will the show cover, or will it completely abandon the hot button issues the original series was known for tackling? If politics are still the name of the game, hit the flip for six topics the show should revisit to still be relevant in 2019.

Polanco also known as Layleen Xtravaganza, died June 7 at Rikers Island. The New York Post reports that she was found unresponsive in her cell at the Rose M. Singer women’s facility around 2:40 p.m. Efforts to revive her were unsuccessful. “Any death in our custody is a tragic loss, and we are looking into how this happened,” a DOC spokesperson told the publication. No further details have been released. The 27-year-old is now the 10th transwoman to be found dead this year. “Pose” actress Indya Moore who grew up with Layleen also spoke on her death and condemned the current administration for not protecting trans lives. “I knew Layleen growing up. I Remember desiring to be beautiful like her. She was cool, and funny too, like all of us she had dreams of escaping poverty and the misery of social ostricisation. She is the 10th trans woman to die this year. Noone knows if it was a murder, or how she died but this is the closest black trans death has ever gotten to me and this is extremely alarming and traumatic,” wrote Indya on Instagram. “As you all know the trans community is extremely small, we feel every loss and we often all know someone who knew somebody murdered. By initiation of the trump administration, the supreme Court is debating RIGHT NOW on whether trans people deserve to be a federally protected demographic, to equal access legal aid, employment, shelter, healthcare, and employment they are hearing our cases on why we deserve human rights. Meghan Markle may be an extremely nasty person , according to President Donald Trump. But she’s a very loyal and loving granddaughter-in-law, according to Queen Elizabeth II. Emerging from her maternity leave for the first time in week, the Duchess of Sussex attended the annual Trooping the Colour parade on Saturday, June 8 in England in order to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II‘s birthday. The photos above and below represent Markle’s first public appearance since she stood sort of awkwardly in front of reporters just two days after welcoming son Archie on May 6 . Markle was with husband Prince Harry and other members of the Royal Family for this special occasion, which took place about two months after the Queen turned 93 years old. At the parade, Meghan donned a navy Givenchy dress and matching purse by the designer and Noel Stewart hat. She was also spotted wearing a third ring on her wedding ring finger. The British family put up a united front for the day’s festivities, but rumors continue to run rampant. Chatter on the Internet still hints strongly at some major tension between various relatives. And it’s more than mere chatter, too: Sources have confirmed that Harry and Meghan will be breaking away from their joint charity, The Royal Foundation, with William and Kate. The organization established in 2011, with the former Suits actress joining for her first public appearance on its behalf in February of 2018. A source told Us Weekly that the two couples will now pursue separate charitable efforts, fueling the constant talk — which has been going on for months — that these four simply do not get along. However, Radar Online recently reported that things are improving… thanks to Kate Middleton and her ongoing efforts at finding a common ground between the quartet. “The rift between the brothers and their wives has ripped the royals apart – and Kate decided enough was enough,” a high-level palace source told this website, adding: “She was heartbroken her children, Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte, wouldn’t be close to Harry and Meghan’s child” unless she healed the irritating rift. We shall see if this report holds true. As you might, almost no one has actually gone on record in regard to this alleged feud. It’s only been an abundance of anonymous sources who continue to claim that Meghan and Kate hate each other, while Harry and William aren’t close these days, either. Elsewhere, Markle’s name was in the news last week because President Trump was alerted to some remarks she made about him in 2016. These remarks were not positive and the Commander-in-Chief responded to them as follows: “I didn’t know that she was nasty.” He later sort of tried to backpeddle by telling Piers Morgan in an interview : “I hope she enjoys her life. Of all the professional sports, the NBA has the most collegial atmosphere, and Canadians consider skipping the line at Tim Hortons without uttering a sheepish “suri” to be about the rudest behavior imaginable. So surely, an NBA Finals series between the Toronto Raptors and the famously woke Golden State Warriors would be just about the most sportsmanlike contest in league history, right? Ha! Yeah, that hasn’t exactly been the case … Whether it’s Drake calling Draymond Green “trash” or the Warriors counter-trolling the 6’s most famous resident by playing Pusha T diss tracks during team warmups, the rivalry between these teams has been as unexpectedly intense as the series’ first three games. Last night, the Warriors top brass got involved when one of the team’s minority owners violently shoved Kyle Lowry after the Raptors forward chased a ball into the stands. But that drama couldn’t compare to the intense standoff between Beyonce and Nicole Curran, wife of the team’s minority owner, Joe Lacob: Members of Bey’s famously loyal fan base absolutely lost their minds at the sight of the singer glaring off into the distance as Curran attempted to monopolize Jay Z’s attention. Toward the end of the conversation, the situation escalated even further when Beyonce (allegedly) gave Curran the slightest of shoves in response to an invasion of personal space. Like the Lowry push (so much shoving last night!) it all happened in the blink of an eye, and you may have missed it while watching the game live. On Instagram, Curran was quick to respond, posting a photo of herself sitting with Jay and Bey and captioning the post: “We should all help and support each other.” Clearly, the plea for sympathy was ineffective, as Nicole disabled comments and then deleted the post entirely. Her other posts are now being flooded by the Hive’s signature bee emojis, and the message is abundantly clear — don’t mess with the queen or you might get stung.
