Bad Signs For Inauguration Donald Trump’s deplorable party is happening in Washington, D.C. today and it’s already off to a bad start. Attendance is down, on top of a multitude of other problems. So we already know to expect a crappy event. But it seems as though things are only going to get worse. Take a look at all the ways the Inauguration is looking like a terrible show.
Donald Trump Planning To Dance With Caitlyn Jenner Caitlyn Jenner may not be about to take off what she’s got on the pages of any magazines anytime soon…but she may just break the internet this weekend with a twirl around the dancefloor. Apparently, Trump is thinking of asking for Caitlyn’s hand in a celebratory dance during the Inauguration proceedings on Jan 20. He wants to send a message to Caitlyn’s community (LGBTQ people) and let them know he cares [insert eye-roll here] through the gesture. According to Page Six , Trump’s advisers think it’s a brilliant idea…and Caitlyn’s people don’t seem to mind the thought either. “It’s a brilliant idea,” a member of the incoming administration told me. Besides mollifying the LGBTQ community — wary of conservative Republicans in general, and of Trump in particular — dancing with Jenner could mend fences within the party. “Time heals all wounds,” one GOPer pointed out. Bruce Jenner was a stalwart Republican long before the parent of six (10 if you count stepkids) transitioned into Caitlyn. “The image of Trump dancing with Caitlyn would send a strong message that he supports gay rights and trans rights,” the Republican said. “A picture is worth a thousand tweets.” Jenner’s publicist said, “Can’t deal in hypotheticals. You may not recognize the name Miguel Ferrer, but if you’re a fan of film and television, you’re almost certainly familiar with his work. Ferrer passed away today at the age of 61, but the respected “actor’s actor” and first cousin of George Clooney leaves behind a body of work that will endure for generations. Ferrer racked up more than 120 credits over the course of his 36 years in the industry. As a young man, he embarked on a career in music, playing drums for Keith Moon’s debut solo effort. It wasn’t long, however, before Hollywood came calling and Ferrer quickly found work as a character actor in a number of “tough guy” roles. Though he starred in films as varied as RoboCop, Traffic, and Iron Man 3, it is for his work in several long-running TV series for which Ferrer will likely be best remembered. Ferrer stole scenes in recurring roles on Miami Vice, Twin Peaks, Tales From the Crypt, Desperate Housewives, Crossing Jordan, and NCIS: Los Angeles. His talent for playing gruff cops and crooks made him a go-to favorite for crime dramas – as well as for projects that skewered the genre. Ferrer’s distinctive voice earned him frequent high-profile animation gigs in features like Mulan and Rio 2, as well as in beloved series such as Adventure Time and Robot Chicken. NCIS: Los Angeles showrunner R. Scott Gemmill issued a statement to the press just moments after news of Ferrer’s death went public. “Today, NCIS: Los Angeles lost a beloved family member,” Gemmill wrote. “Miguel was a man of tremendous talent who had a powerful dramatic presence on screen, a wicked sense of humor, and a huge heart. Our thoughts go out to his wife Lori, his sons, and his entire family. “He will be greatly missed.” Sources say Ferrer died peacefully at his California home this afternoon, surrounded by family and friends. He was active on NCIS and in several other projects up until the time when his illness left him bed-ridden. Ferrer was scheduled to appear in the Showtime reboot of Twin Peaks debuting in May, but it is not known if he had completed filming. Ferrer’s expansive body of work and reputation as one of Hollywood’s most genuine nice guys combined to make him a trending topic on Twitter just moments after the world learned of his death. During the unbelievably nightmarish, totally traumatic election season … Sorry, let’s just take a quiet moment to ourselves to practice some breathing exercises and gather ourselves after remembering the election season. … OK, are we good now? Have we healed? Let’s move on. During the unbelievably nightmarish, totally traumatic election season, the Duggars were mostly very quiet about which candidate they were voting for . Derick Dillard did reveal that he was voting for Donald Trump , but other than that, the family kept their picks for president to themselves. Normally we’d just go ahead and assume that the Duggars would be voting for the Republican candidate, given their conservative views , but things were a little different this time around. Mostly because the Republican candidate was a gross, vulgar monster who, despite his many claims, went against everything the Duggars have always said they believed in. But if the election taught us anything, it was that you can always count on people to surprise you. And not in a good way . And so judging by this new Facebook post on the Duggar Family Official page, it looks like the family really was on Trump’s side all along. As Jim Bob and Michelle wrote in the post, “Evangelicals played a huge role in Donald Trump becoming our new President this week. We all know that we need to see our country turn back to God.” We’ll take another moment here for your head to stop spinning, and if your brain exploded, go ahead and take some time to clean that mess up. The notion that Donald Trump could turn the U.S. back to God is just so massively wrong in so very many ways, isn’t it? But still, the Duggars insist that “As a new president takes office, we need to take advantage of this opportunity to teach our kids about God’s grace on our nation.” And here’s the point of all this mess … “It’s why Mike Huckabee’s team at Learn Our History created the kids DVD, One Nation Under God, and right now they’re giving it way for free at [insert Duggar propaganda link here].” The Duggars are pushing these DVDs because “too few children know the story of God’s role in American history,” and the DVDs are free because “every child has a right to know.” Jim Bob and Michelle call these productions “positive, patriotic and faith-based lessons that your children or grandchildren will learn.” And hey, “Whether you choose to place an order or not, please be sure your kids are learning about God’s role in American history.” So there are a couple of issues with this. One, the previously mentioned hilariously misguided thought that Trump will somehow turn the U.S. into some theocracy. And two, the fact that this whole DVD operation seems to be a bit of a scam — it’s one of those “give your credit card information and get something for free, but figure out how to cancel our we’ll charge you forever” deals. And people are here for none of it. “If you are hoping Trump will bring the country to God you are going to be disappointed,” one fan wrote. “You need an actual Godly Christian witness to do that, and Trump is a blasphemy of Christ’s teaching.” “What do you mean, ‘turn back to God'” another asked. “An administration under Trump will NOT teach children to ‘turn back to God.’ He built his campaign on racism, sexism, and violence.” About those DVDs, one person wrote “It’s awesome. But their dvd has never been free. Wish they were and I’d get one for kids. Wish Christians especially wouldn’t spread falsities like that, cause people trust you.” The shade of it all!
