Joan Lunden has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The long-time Good Morning America anchor (1980-1997) revealed the news today on that same program to Robin Roberts , a breast cancer survivor herself. “I have shaped my career around health and wellness advocacy so it seemed natural to share my story,” Lunden said. “I’ve started chemotherapy and while I don’t know how I’ll look and feel down the road, I am assuming the best because that is how I live my life.” The reporter’s treatment will also include a lumpectomy and radiation. She’s expected to make a full recovery. The diagnosis came as the result of an ultrasound during Lunden’s yearly mammogram. “I knew the minute the doctor came in the door,” Lunden’s shared. “I could tell by her demeanor. ‘You have breast cancer.’ The words are so surreal.” She added that her husband and seven children have been by her side this whole time. And she also published a blog post this morning, making a reference to her late father, who worked as a cancer surgeon. “I knew that he would want me to use this experience as an opportunity to spread the word about how important it is to get screened for all types of cancers and for women to do self-breast exams,” Lunden wrote . “Early detection is so crucial, I consider myself fortunate that I found this in the early stages and the prognosis is so promising… “I am so thankful to have the support, wisdom, and guidance from all my doctors and the loving support of my family and my friends. I know I have a challenge ahead of me in this journey, however I have chosen to take it as an opportunity to fulfill my father’s legacy and try to inspire others to protect their health.” We send Lunden our very best wishes. Jenna Ushkowitz is the latest Glee cast member to address the death of Cory Monteith. Over the weekend, Chord Overstreet dedicated a song to his late colleague, while Dianna Agron has expressed her remorse over the passing and Ryan Murphy has given us an idea of how his show will handle such a tragedy. Now, Ushkowitz has published an Instagram photo of the tight-knit group along with a message to Monteith: “I am so grateful that Glee brought this group of extraordinary individuals together to form a family,” Ushkowitz wrote on the social network, adding: “I was lucky enough to closely experience the love and light that Cory shared with the world, as well as having the privilege of traveling down the road together on a once in a lifetime journey. Cory always reminded me to be gracious, kind and open, and he will leave a mark in my heart forever. My name is Rachel, and I’m from Sydney, Australia and this is my second Bieber experience. I didn’t win any competitions, I just met him by luck again. My 2 friends Tiarna and Lauren met up on the Monday night at Sydney airport to catch a glimpse of Justin but we missed him so we decided to go find his hotel. We walked kilometers from hotel to hotel that were spread around Sydney that Justin had rumored to be at, until we came across the right one . There was a lane rope that was put up to stop us from blocking the entrance, Justin had to be here! On Twitter we seen a picture of Justin and Selena in a car and seen the number plate, so we knew what car he was in, but that night we had no luck. The next day Justin had a radio interview so we decided to go to the radio station, but it was pre-recorded so we went back to his hotel. There was SO many more beliebers the second day but we got their early and we seen Justin’s car come down the street. Me and Lauren freaked out and quietly chased it down the road so no one else would follow. We got right up to the window but the car drove in. The next day we woke up early cause Justin’s outdoor concert was that day. We waited outside his hotel but we knew he wasn’t there, and we were about to give up because he was leaving for New Zealand that afternoon. We decided before we went home that we would try and go see him in concert, even though we didn’t have tickets. Sure enough we got the perfect view from outside when we stood on milk creates. He sang amazingly and all of us were getting teary. When Justin was about to finish, we were so determined to meet him. We weren’t giving up. We jumped into the car, and we waited for Justin’s car to come out. Down the road it came and we pulled in behind and all these girls were sprinting down the road behind us! We followed Justin’s car all the way back to his hotel, and when we pulled along side of it, Kenny waved at me! We all freaked out. We were driving right behind Justin’s car for about 20 minutes! We waited outside of Justin’s hotel again, but this time there was a proper fence put up. This was it. Justin was definitely coming out to see his fans today. Without any breakfast, going to go pee or have any water, Tiarna, Lauren and I got our spots at 9 in the morning and did not move. At about 10 o’clock Moshe came out saying if we were quiet Justin would come out and meet us! For 3 hours we waited and the crowd grew and grew, security increased, and police came to block off the road. Paps where everywhere waiting for Justin to come out. 12 o’clock came and it was starting to get hard to breathe; probably because of the fact that I was about to meet Justin Bieber, but also because everyone was squishing so much! Suddenly, a silhouette of the most perfect teenage guy on the planet walked out through to revolving door – without hitting his head. He walked out with a camera and started filming all of us screaming! He walked over to the fence all the way to my left, I made sure my camera was on and watched him get closer and closer. Justin was standing right in front of me, I couldn’t comprehend. He walked past me and got a picture with Tiarna which I photo bombed cause I didn’t know if I was gunna get my own. He went to turn and keep moving but I looked at him and said, “Justin, can I please have a photo? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.” I seen his eyes through his glasses, and he took my camera out of my hands. I got ready for my photo, and hands where flying in front of my face. Luckily I pushed them all out of my photo in time. I said, “Thank you,” and watched him take a photo with Lauren. After Justin went back inside, us three ran down the street screaming and hugging each other. That night all all of us were all over the news. You see Justin taking my camera out of my hands, and us talking to him. Nothing can compare to the feeling when I met Justin Bieber. I feel like I can do anything. I met Justin both times by chance in the street, so beliebers who still haven’t met Justin, don’t give up! I promise you, Justin makes you feel so special and he never gives up the opportunity to take a photo or sign something for you. No matter how long you have to wait, it is worth every single second. Justified? A deputy was forced to shoot a suspect, after the Sheriff says a man pulled a seven inch butcher knife on him, all while he had a motorist pulled over on the side of the road. It was 1:30 in the afternoon on Monday, when Clarendon County Deputy Danny Graham puts his lights on to pull over a speeder. “He had issued a ticket and was standing at the car, explaining the ticket to him,” said Sheriff Randy Garrett. “All law enforcement officers are trained that traffic stops are never routine. They’re not normal. Anything can happen at anytime.” Sheriff Garrett takes us play-by-play through the traffic stop as it happens. “This individual walking down the road whips out a knife. Lunges at the deputy with a knife. Of course our deputy backs up, pulls his weapon, and shot him,” said Garrett. The suspect, 37-year-old Anthony Pearson, is being charged with attempted murder of a police officer. Sheriff Garrett says it’s no question, the deputy made the right decision. “We’ve looked at the video dozens of times. We’ve interviewed and everything. It’s a justified shoot in my book. MTV actress recalls hilariously mistaking police car’s flashing lights for brake lights on Saturday’s episode. By Lauren Kearney Ashley Rickards as Jenna in “Awkward.” Ashley Rickards, the star of MTV’s “Awkward.,” can probably sympathize with her character, Jenna, whose many FML moments include having her classmates mistake an accident for a failed suicide attempt. On Saturday’s episode of “When I Was 17,” she recalls a hilarious run-in with the law that sounds like it was ripped from the comedy series. “I was driving around my neighborhood … stop at the stop sign and there’s a cop behind me and his brake lights went on,” Ashley remembers in the episode airing Saturday at 11 a.m. ET/PT. “It was a stop sign — the brake lights are going to go on. “So I keep going down the road; half a mile … a mile. Then all of a sudden, the sirens go off,” she says. While most people would agree that the blaring of a police car siren is quite possibly one of the most terrifying sounds on the planet, the suddenly panicked Ashley was sure she hadn’t done anything wrong. “So I pull over and he says, ‘Do you realize I’ve been trying to pull you over for the past mile?’ I’m like, ‘No I just heard the sirens now.’ And he was like, ‘I didn’t have the sirens on. I was flashing my lights.’ I felt like such an idiot,” she laughs. “She didn’t understand that the red on the top lights were different than the brake lights,” Lisa, Ashley’s mom, explains.
