The L.A. County D.A. has reduced the felony vandalism charge against Lil Za, who smashed a jailhouse phone while in custody this winter, to a misdemeanor. The stated reason for the change is that the phone Lil Za smashed was worth less than $400, the threshold for felony vandalism. But there’s also this: Lil Za: Arrested for Drugs! His pal Justin Bieber will be likely charged with misdemeanor vandalism for egging his neighbor’s house … to which he inflicted much more damage. Charging Za with a felony for the phone assault when the pop star caused an estimated $20,000 in damage to the home screams of racial profiling. Za himself said to look at his skin color after the arrest and felony charge, and it’s likely officials did, as they reduced the charge against the rapper. As for the ecstasy found on the Lil guy when they both got popped for the egging, he’ll likely plead down that charge as well when the case goes to court. TMZ reports that drug diversion, which would require him to take classes and/or rehab as well as tests but keep him out of jail, is the predicted outcome.
