Love & Other Jugs: DVD Roundup 3-1-11

Girls are going wild this week on DVD & Blu-Ray as Oscar hostess Anne Hathaway gets high on nudity in Love and Other Drugs , Cher & XXXtina Aguilera bump n’ grind in Burlesque , and J-Lo cracks the cleavage case in Out of Sight . Love and Other Drugs Jake Gyllenhaal is a pharmaceutical rep who gets the job of pushing Viagra in the romantic comedy-drama Love and Other Drugs . At the same time, he meets and falls for a woman with Parkinson’s disease ( Anne Hathaway ) and starts a roller coaster romance. Along the way, we get some great look at Anne’s bare boobage and butt in four glorious scenes. Who needs Viagra with those around? Burlesque In the campy musical extravaganza Burlesque , pop tart Christina Aguilera is a small town girl who dreams of being a stripper that doesn’t take her clothes off and sings a lot, aka a burlesque artiste. She finds her place in a neo-burlesque club run by a former dancer named Tess ( Cher ) and staffed by babes like Kristen Bell and Chelsea Traille . There are plenty of “sexy” costumes in this picture, most of which takes place in a burlesque club, but exactly as much nudity as anyone who’s been to a burlesque club would expect—none. Out of Sight Is it a good movie? No, it’s only about the coolest, hippest motherfucker ever committed to celluloid, and it’s now nude on Blu-Ray. Jennifer Lopez and George Clooney are lovers on opposite sides of the law in this super-sexy style juggernaut. Jennifer’s famous caboose stays in her jeans, but she shows a great deal of cleavage in the expanded full-length version of the trunk ride with Clooney. Some people think her nipples may have been visible, and thanks to the magic of Blu-Ray J-lo’s jugs are clearer than ever. From booby bandits to cleavage capers, if you need a private dick, Mr. Skin’s your man!

Oscar Night Ruled By ‘The King’s Speech’

‘Inception’ nabs four awards, one more than early awards-season fave ‘Social Network.’ By Eric Ditzian Colin Firth accepts award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for “The King’s Speech” Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images “The King’s Speech” entered the biggest night in Hollywood as the clear front-runner to win top honors and did not stumble at the 83rd Academy Awards , nabbing four wins out of 12 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Colin Firth, and Best Director for Tom Hooper. “Inception” ended up roping in four wins, as well, one better than “The Social Network,” which lost out in all the major categories after beginning awards season as a potential dominant Oscar presence yet losing momentum over the past month. The evening, in fact, unfolded without a single upset in the major categories, from Melissa Leo’s (“The Fighter”) early Supporting Actress win to the Best Picture triumph for “King’s Speech.” Firth could have begun penning his Best Actor acceptance speech months ago. When he finally got the chance late in the night, he began, “I have a feeling my career has just peaked” and ended, again self-deprecatingly, “And now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some impulses I have to attend to backstage.” A very pregnant Natalie Portman (“Black Swan”) swept aside six-time nominee Annette Bening (“The Kids Are All Right”) for Best Actress. Entirely more serious than she was at the Golden Globes, when she laughed about getting to sleep with baby-daddy Benjamin Millepied, Portman instead ran through a dizzying list of thank-yous, acknowledging everyone from her parents to her publicists to director Darren Aronofsky, to whom she said, “You are fearless and a visionary.” Up until the minute the Directing award was handed out, no one could decide if Hooper or David Fincher (“The Social Network”) would end up the champ. In the end, Hooper soared on the strength of what he dubbed the “triangle of man love,” whose points apparently include Firth, Geoffrey Rush and the director himself. The show kicked off with a high-concept, “Inception”-inspired cold open as hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway entered into the worlds of the Best Picture nominees and some beloved past films — from the boxing ring of “The Fighter” to the rehearsal studio of “Black Swan” to the time-traveling DeLorean from “Back to the Future.” The duo then sauntered out onto the stage at the Kodak Theatre and segued into a short, shared monologue in which Hathaway congratulated Franco on his Best Actor nomination and lamented that she wasn’t honored for her work in “Love & Other Drugs.” “It used to be, you get naked, you get nominated,” she joked. “Not anymore!” Wearing a tuxedo and high heels, Hathaway popped up later for a musical number , riffing on “On My Own” from “Les Mis

Anne Hathaway Will ‘Go There’ As Catwoman In ‘Dark Knight Rises’

‘Hathaway has longevity, a steady career arc and growth in appearing in big films,’ a studio source tells MTV News of her casting. By Kara Warner Anne Hathaway Photo: Kevork Djansezian/ Getty Images Given the overwhelming, worldwide success of “Batman Begins” and, even more so, “The Dark Knight,” any time there’s news about Christopher Nolan’s third Batman movie, “The Dark Knight Rises,” it make headlines. Case in point: Wednesday’s (January 19) big announcement from Warner Bros. about the casting of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle (a.k.a. Catwoman) and the unveiling of Tom Hardy’s role as the formidable, villainous Bane. Regarding Hathaway’s casting, who has been linked to the film via various rumors that started last November, a source at Warner Bros. told MTV News that the “Love & Other Drugs” star is a great choice to play the femme fatale. “She definitely has the [acting] chops,” the studio source said. “She can ‘go there’ with this role. Obviously, Chris [Nolan] sees something in her that’s fantastic that we haven’t seen or have seen … plus Hathaway has longevity, a steady career arc and growth in appearing in big films.” Hathaway is, after all, an Oscar-nominated actress (in 2009, for her performance in “Rachel Getting Married”). She first captured the hearts of young girls everywhere in Disney films like “The Princess Diaries” and “Ella Enchanted,” which showcased both a feminine vulnerability and modern, sassy takes on the traditional “princess” stereotype. From there, Hathaway’s highlights include a supporting role in “Brokeback Mountain”; the action/comedy “Get Smart,” where we saw her more mature, sexy side as Agent 99, the perfect foil to Steve Carell’s bumbling Maxwell Smart; a starring role in “The Devil Wears Prada,” opposite Meryl Streep; and her darker, subversive and ultimately award-worthy performance in “Rachel.” So, in looking at Hathaway’s r

Flipping Birds! Prison Pigeon Found With Coke And Weed Tied To Its Back

Drug smugglers are giving new meaning to the term ‘flipping birds.’ Police say inmates are training pigeons to smuggle drugs after a pigeon was found struggling to fly over a prison wall with a sack of coke strapped to its back. (Newser) – Police in Colombia busted a pigeon narco-trafficker after it was caught trying to fly into a prison with too heavy a load. The bird, which is now being cared for by authorities, was found struggling to fly with 40 grams of marijuana and 5 grams of cocaine paste strapped to its wings, the BBC reports. Police, who believe the bird was trained by inmates, say they’ve caught other pigeons attempting to carry phone cards into the jail. Talk about criminal ingenuity. Source

Paz de la Huerta at Golden Globes After-Party: Denied!

It was a big night for Boardwalk Empire at the Golden Globes, as star Steve Buscemi took home the award for Best Actor and the series won Best Drama. In celebration, actress Paz de la Huerta – who portrays Lucy Danziger on the HBO hit – had a drink or two dozen at the event. She then tried to enter an after-party at the Chateau Marmont, only to be denied access. For what reason? It may have had something to do with her inability to stand, as evidenced in the video below.
