Facing pressure from multiple human rights organizations in the United States, Dunkin Donuts has apologized for an ad that ran recently in Thailand and which depicted a woman in blackface. The spot was never intended for an American audience, but featured a woman in dark makeup promoting a new chocolate-flavored menu item, along with the tagline: Break every rule of deliciousness. “We are working with our Thailand franchisee to immediately pull the ad,” the company said in a Tweet today. “DD recognizes the insensitivity of this spot.” Watch the commercial below, along with a report that covers a great deal of the U.S. criticism: Dunkin Donuts Blackface Commercial Dunkin Donuts Blackface Ad Controversy “It’s both bizarre and racist that Dunkin’ Donuts thinks that it must color a woman’s skin black and accentuate her lips with bright pink lipstick to sell a chocolate doughnut,” said Phil Robertson, the deputy Asia director for Human Rights Watch. “Dunkin’ Donuts should immediately withdraw this ad, publicly apologize to those it’s offended and ensure this never happens again.” Should Dunkin Donuts have apologized for this ad? Yes, it’s so inappropriate! No, America must chill out! View Poll »
A Michigan Burger King franchise apparently feels that when it comes to its slogan “Have It Your Way,” the way four-year-olds want it is really baked. A family found a marijuana pipe in their four-year-old’s kid’s meal box, according to reports. Instead of a Jungle Book toy, they got a glass bowl. Tight. The boy’s grandpa went to the Dundee, Mich., restaurant to pick up his burger, then discovered that fries weren’t the only item it came with on the side. Dundee Police Chief David Uhl said the pipe was full, too: “He handed the kid’s meal that he had gotten at Burger King to his 4-year-old grandson and when they opened it up they found a loaded marijuana pipe.” The boy’s parents were “on top of it,” he said, and removed the piece, which a 23-year-old employee hid in the meal box earlier while he was at work. It was then inadvertently filled with food and given to the young customer, and the employee was charged with drug and paraphernalia possession. This gets stranger still. After making the discovery, grandfather noted a “suspicious” car in the parking lot and wrote down the license plate number. The kids in the car, 18 and 20, turned out to be friends of the BK employee who attempted to warn him when cops were called in to handle the matter. They were arrested and charged with drug possession as well. Burger King said in a statement: “This Burger King restaurant is owned and operated by a franchisee who enforces a zero-tolerance drug policy.” “The franchise management team is cooperating fully with [police]. BK and the franchisee extend a sincere apology to the guests involved in this incident.” Silver lining for BK? They’re far from alone in this regard: A Wendy’s employee was seen guzzling Frosty from the machine . A Taco employee was photographed licking shells . Golden Corral stores meat by the dumpster . Taylor Chapman went on a racist rant against Dunkin Donuts employees after not receiving … check that, DD actually handled that one well.
I will NEVER forget August 27th, 2010. The day that plain old me, Cassie, from little Rhode Island met Justin Bieber. It was my best friend’s birthday and Justin had a concert at the Dunkin Donuts Center about 15 minutes away from us. My friend got a VIP Soundcheck Party ticket for her birthday but I didn’t have a ticket in general, and as usual, like the day of any concert at the DDC , we walked around Providence trying to meet someone- anyone. The day before we had met Justin’s camera crew, Jon M. Chu, and some of his dancers at a hotel. But the day of the concert we hung out near all of the tour buses coming in for the show. We followed one of the venues runner cars down to the gate and JUSTIN BIEBER ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOW AND WAVED TO US. We were in shock so we stood there and waved like idiots, then when the car drove away we started screaming of course! When the afternoon rolled around, my friend had to go in for the VIP thing, and my friend Zack Tremblay and I were hanging out together near the tour buses. Jayden Smith, the camera crew, and Scooter Braun came out to say hi to everyone waiting around. Jayden was getting everyone excited for the show and then Scooter asked if everyone was going. I was the only one that said no, and I asked him if there was anyway he could get me in. He said nope sorry and walked away. I was so bummed. Then all of a sudden Zack goes “OMG CASSIE JUSTIN IS COMING OVER HERE!” And there he was! Justin and Jayden were walking over to us followed by the cameras with Scooter! Justin came over and shook hands with everyone and said hello, and I was a little sad that I only got to see him for a second… but then Scooter tapped him on the shoulder and pointed to me. Justin effing Bieber walked up to me and said, “I hear you’re not going to the show tonight, why?” and I was like “Yeah…I never saved enough money for a good ticket” and he goes “Oh that sucks, it’s gonna be awesome.” And I was like “I bet!” And then he goes ”Well, I have a couple of extra tickets right here…” AND REACHED IN HIS POCKETS AND HANDED ME TWO FRONT ROW, DEAD CENTER TICKETS FOR ME AND MY LITTLE SISTER . He also gave one to my friend, Nicole! I didn’t even know what to do, I started shaking and held my arms out for a hug, and in the middle of our hug, I just kissed him on the cheek! I JUST KISSED HIM, RIGHT THERE ON THE CHEEK IN FRONT OF LIKE 50 PEOPLE, INCLUDIND CAMERAS. He smiled, and I thanked him and Scooter a billion times and then he went back inside. I didn’t even know what to do I just started crying of happiness. Scooter also teased me saying “I saw that!” and I was like, “What, me kissing him?” and he said “No, he kissed YOU BACK!” I though I was going to faint at that point! I thanked Scooter again and again and all of his crew, I was so out of control hahaha. I called my parents crying, my friend who was inside, and everyone else I could. The concert was by far the best night of my life and the biggest miracle I ever could have asked for. Seeing the scene played on commercials, in the movie, on perezhilton.com, etc. was just mind-blowing. Once again, thank you Scooter Braun, Jus tin, and the rest of his team. You all are amazing. Gotta get the cash, gotta get the dough… Three men were arrested Thursday after allegedly robbing a Dunkin’ Donuts on West Main Street Wednesday night while masked and armed with knives and a hatchet, the police said. The score: a bag of doughnuts. The three men confronted two employees at the doughnut shop shortly after 9 p.m., Barnstable police Sgt. Thomas Twomey said. One of the men had a hatchet and the other two were carrying knives, he said. Apparently thinking the workers were carrying cash from the day’s receipts, the men demanded a paper bag that was in one of the women’s purses. The bag, however, was filled with doughnuts, which the suspects took without looking inside. The men were captured on video and the police were able to track them down on Thursday, Twomey said. The police arrested Nicholas Mercurio, 19, Lukas Peterson, 21, and Charles Iliffe, 20, all of Hyannis, and charged them with armed robbery while masked, he said. Iliffe was taken to the Barnstable County Correctional Facility and the other two suspects were held at the Barnstable police station, Twomey said. The men were scheduled to be arraigned in Barnstable District Court on Friday. Ha! Imagine these a**holes explaining this story to people in prison when they as “So what you in for?” SMH Source
Here are some pictures of Cheryl Cole wearing a dress that all girls should wear, except maybe the girl I just saw walking out of the Dunkin Donuts, she should probably stick to wearing elastic band pants and oversized shirt, cuz she’s fucking disgusting, Cheryl Cole on the otherhand is quite spectacular, prison tattoos and all and America is gonna fall in love with her on Simon Cowell’s new show. Get ready for it with her tits.
‘For him to have brought himself here and that video shoot here, it’s gonna bring more attention to the Brick City,’ one local says. By Shaheem Reid Eminem shoots a video in Newark, NJ Photo: Alleyesonwho.com NEWARK, New Jersey — Imagine you’re walking down your block and somebody tells you that Eminem is filming his new video in your neighborhood. Imagine, even further, that you live in a tough city like Newark, which is near New York but doesn’t exactly see that kind of high-profile action every day. But of course, in one of the main sections of Eminem’s just-released video for “Not Afraid” (from his forthcoming Recovery LP ), Slim Shady walks down Market Street in downtown Newark among some locals. “It was a month or three weeks ago,” Newark native Kyro “Ro” Inman, who appeared as an extra in the video, told MTV News. “I was walking [on Market Street] and I asked, ‘What is going on?’ They said, ‘Eminem is shooting a video.’ I had to come see for myself. I saw a big commotion, a lot of people gathered here.” Ro said the producers of the video must have seen some pizzazz or “a wave” in him, and asked him to take part in the video. “They had us walking back and forth here,” Ro said, standing in front of a Dunkin Donuts on Market near Broad Street. “Like 10 or 11 times back and forth. [There was] 10 people, maybe 12 people that was walking back and forth with us.” However, Ro didn’t get to see the star himself. “[Em] wasn’t even here when I arrived,” Ro added. “They had somebody else, like a stunt man, for him. He was standing, walking back and forth. They said [Em] was in the car. I didn’t even get to see him.” Luckier on that count were Lamont Vaughn and Roberto Prophete, who said they got to see Slim Shady in the flesh. Prophete owns the clothing store Oladejon on Market Street, and Vaughn was right around the corner at a vending stand he owns and walked over once he heard about the production. “He was standing right here,” Vaughn said. “Somebody came and told us Eminem was filming — I didn’t believe it. I saw him when he came back out of that trailer. I didn’t see the part when he was walking out of the crowd. I saw him when he came out of the trailer. Everybody went crazy: ‘Aeehaeeehhhh! There he go right here!’ They had the whole street blocked off. Newark treated him like it was a homecoming — that’s real. That’s what we love. We want more to come back. Landmarks are all over this city.” “For him to have brought himself here and that video shoot here, it’s gonna bring more attention to the Brick City,” Vaughn added. “It shows his heart. He’s a brother to me. I listen to is music deeply. He can go many different ways with it: Commercial when he gets deep with it; he touches you when he goes hard real with it. When he goes commercial, it’s still real, but it’s funny.” Prophete said that as the video blows up, it’ll bring welcome attention to the city. “It’s a basically going to change it into a little landmark. This building right here, [the former Paramount Theater], used to be an old theater. It’s gonna bring more and more people out here to see the landmarks.” “Not Afraid” was directed by Richard Lee. Recovery is set for a June 22 release. What’s the next neighborhood Eminem should film a video in? Let us know in the comments below! Related Artists Eminem
