We try not to traffic in hyperbole at The Hollywood Gossip. But University of Detroit guard Doug Anderson won the college slam dunk contest last night with the greatest throwdown in human history. What’s that, Vince Carter? You object? Watch this between-the-legs 360 now and just try to offer an argument: Doug Anderson Dunk Among memorable in-game jams from the NBA this season, there was: LeBron James soaring over Jason Terry. DeAndre Jordan destroying Brandon Knight. Gerald Henderson giving Dwight Howard a facial.
He ain’t bout this life! Looks like Ochostinko is going to pay for telling stories on Twitter about ex-wife Evelyn Lozada this week. Via TMZ reports : Evelyn Lozada fired off a cease and desist letter to ex-hubby Chad Johnson … warning him to stop harassing her online … OR ELSE. Sources close to the “Basketball Wives” star tell TMZ … Evelyn’s lawyer sent the letter Thursday after Chad BLASTED her on Twitter … making crude comments and accusing her of cheating. Sources close to Evelyn tell us … Chad’s Twitter allegations are 100% false — she NEVER cheated and if he doesn’t stop spreading lies STAT … she’ll get a restraining order. Not only that, we’re told the prosecutor’s office overseeing Chad’s criminal domestic violence case is aware of the situation and is concerned. We broke the story … Evelyn filed for divorce after Chad was arrested for allegedly headbutting her just weeks after they got hitched. Chad is due in court Monday for a hearing on terminating his probation early. The Tweets are not gonna help his case. SMH. Evelyn is done playin’. We’re actually surprised she didn’t just go ahead and file the restraining order already. The cease and desist is serious enough, but we’re pretty sure it’s only a matter of time before Chad gets slapped with the kind of gag order that kept Royce from talking about Dwight Howard on TV and Twitter. Only a monster could do something this cruel… 2-Month-Old Baby Strangled To Death By Carjacker A community in China is left to mourn the unthinkable death of a 2-month-old infant who was abducted and strangled to death by a carjacker scumbag who stole the child from his father’s car. via L.A. Times Thousands in the northeastern city of Changchun mourned during a candlelight vigil Tuesday night for a 2-month-old boy who officials say was strangled to death by a carjacker. Xu Haobo was sleeping in the backseat of his parent’s SUV early Monday morning when his father stopped for a few minutes to turn on the heat in a store the family owned, authorities said. “He left his kid in the car with the heat on, and he didn’t take the keys,” a bystander at the scene in Changchun later told TV reporters. “He was inside for a bit, and when he looked outside, there was nobody there.” The baby’s unintended abduction captivated China and led to one of the largest manhunts in recent memory. By 7:30 Monday morning, provincial radio had broadcast a notice asking listeners to watch out for the family’s gray Toyota RAV4 and the infant. On Tuesday morning, police reported, inspectors identified the stolen car in a residential parking lot 20 miles outside the city. The infant’s clothing was found nearby. The search was suspended late Tuesday when Jilin province police announced that a suspect had turned himself in and confessed to strangling the child and dumping the body in the snow. Residents in this community are speaking out against sentencing this monster to the death penalty and insisting that he spend the rest of his life in jail instead to face fellow inmates who they feel won’t let him off easy after finding out what he’s done. We agree. AP
Craziest Rants Of The Year So Far Why so angry, everyone? It’s only March and 2013 is full of the craziest rants of all time. From Yeezy to Weezy and everyone in between, the sensitivity has been off the charts. Don’t believe us, just watch. And just don’t get on these peoples’ bad sides.
Already at 15-18 and not included in the Western Conference playoff picture, things are about to get even bleaker for the Los Angeles Lakers. Marc Stein has confirmed via Twitter that Dwight Howard has a torn labrum and will miss a significant period of time. The Lakers, of course, acquired Howard in a blockbuster trade this offseason, but he’s struggled to find his place following back surgery a few months ago. The center is averaging 17.3 points per game, along with 12.4 rebounds and 2.6 blocks. But he has often clashed with Kobe Bryant and Los Angeles is the most disappointing team in the league. Elsewhere, Pau Gasol has been diagnosed with a concussion and is also out indefinitely. But, hey, Los Angeles: At least the Clippers are awesome!
Kobe Bryant talking ish?? You don’t say! According to NYDailyNews: Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant just can’t get along, and there’s a team in Brooklyn that might be waiting to pick up the pieces. A league source told the Daily News that the Lakers stars got into a heated exchange following a New Year’s Day loss to the 76ers, and Bryant went for a low blow – referencing and agreeing with Shaquille O’Neal’s criticisms of Howard being soft. Howard was restrained from going at his teammate, according to the source, and there have been rumblings from the center’s camp that he’s been unhappy with Bryant since earlier in the season. Three days after the altercation, following a disheartening loss to the Clippers, Howard complained about the lack of chemistry on the Lakers. It was a comment seemingly directed at Bryant, who is averaging a league-high 22 shots despite playing with three potential Hall of Famers. The Mike D’Antoni-coached Lakers fell to 15-18 after losing at home to the Denver Nuggets, 112-105, Sunday night despite Howard’s 26 rebounds. Bryant led L.A. with 29 points but took 26 shots. “Look at the difference between our team and (the Clippers),” Howard said. “They just play together. They share the ball. Everybody’s excited when something happens.” Howard again hinted at the disconnect on Saturday. There were always concerns over whether Bryant, a no-nonsense veteran, and Howard, a playful man-child, could co-exist. “(Chemistry) is something we have to do to get better,” Howard told reporters in L.A. “We have to play like we like each other. Even if we don’t want to be friends off the court, whatever that may be, when we step in between the lines or we step in the locker room or the gym, we have to respect each other and what we bring to the table.” Howard, a pending free agent, has not committed to Los Angeles beyond this season. Sounds like it’s on to the next team for Dwight after this season. This is sounding like that Shaq-Kobe beef from before. SMH.

Los Angeles Lakers star Dwight Howard and ex Royce Reed are still embroiled in a bitter custody battle about their son – one she feels he should pay for. Royce, who you may remember from VH1’s Basketball Wives, wants Howard to pick up her legal bills as he seeks to gain sole custody of their young son. According to TMZ, Howard earns $1.3 million per month and should pay her bills, otherwise the legal fight isn’t really a fight, as she can’t afford it. Her lawyer says she’s racked up a $44,113.50 bill and can expect her total case to cost $106,621.80 … a drop in the bucket for Dwight. Not for her. Royce Reed was fired by Basketball Wives this year, much to Howard’s delight; he went to great lengths to prevent her from speaking his name on the show. They’ve been battling over custody of their son for at least two and a half years, with no end in sight.
Shaq and Dwight Howard have apparently found the one subject about which they can unite: criticizing Stan Van Gundy. Van Gundy confirming that Dwight Howard wants him fired was a topic of conversation on TNT’s “Inside the NBA” before the Magic got blown out by the Knicks Thursday.
