After Cee Lo Green had to drop out of the singer’s Loud tour due to other commitments, the “California King Bed” designated J. Cole as the “Forget You” singer’s replacement. Rihanna announced via Twitter that rapper J. Cole, who was already on the road with the singer, will fill Green’s shoes as her main warm-up act on the tour, which began this month. “#GOODNEWS @JColeNC is our new official opener!” she wrote on Tuesday night. “@CeeLoGreen will no longer be a part of #LOUDtour due 2 commitment with ‘The Voice’ #Cantmissit.” Green had to leave when his schedule became too crammed with other commitments, including his judging gig on the hit NBC talent competition “The Voice,” which is also presenting a tour this summer. “He always puts 100 percent into his work and with the requirements and time commitment to ‘The Voice,’ on top of heading back into the recording studio and an upcoming book, he feels that he wouldn’t give his fans the show that they deserve,” Green’s spokesperson said, according to The New York Times . Rihanna’s Loud tour travels the U.S. through July 24 before heading to Europe in August. It’s set to wrap up in late December. There was a similar switch-up for Rihanna’s Last Girl on Earth Tour in 2010, when Nicki Minaj pulled out at the last minute and was quickly replaced with Travie McCoy. Ke$ha also opened on that tour. It has been a complete year since Starz pulled the plug on Party Down , and creator Rob Thomas refuses to give up hope on reuniting Adam Scott, Ken Marino, Lizzy Caplan and Martin Starr for a big screen adaptation. “People are talking to us about doing a Party Down movie,” he said. “We are pretty far down the deal-making process with that, so we’re hopeful that there will be a Party Down movie. Kevin Pollak’s highly entertaining and extremely long The Kevin Pollak Chat Show invited on screenwriter Damon Lindelof and allowed him to monologue freely about Star Trek , Cowboys & Aliens , and — perhaps most notably — working with Ridley Scott on Prometheus , and how the film relates to Scott’s seminal sci-fi work. If you have a telescope sitting around while you’re in South Africa or Antartica in a couple of hours, you’ll see an asteroid coming dangerously close to this lovely planet we live on. But according to NASA, it doesn’t have a chance of harming us: “There is no chance that 2011 MD will hit Earth but scientists will use the close pass as opportunity to study it w/ radar observations,” according to a NASA statement. Phew. Good thing. We have at least until May and the Mayan calendar ends before we need to get worried. That is, if we survive the new rapture.
It was officially confirmed yesterday that British actor Idris Elba will star in a sci-fi film called Pacific Rim , which will be directed by Guillermo del Toro ( Pans Labyrinth , Hellboy ). The story is set in the future at a time and place in which malevolent creatures threaten the earth, and the world has to band together to rid the planet of these menaces, using highly advanced technological weapons. Elba will play a lead character named “ Sensi ,” starring alongside Son of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam. Not much else is known about the character breakdowns and the film’s plotline at the moment; but it’s clear that Mr Elba’s stock is rising rapidly, and rightfully so (compared to some of his British actor counterparts, like Chiwetel Ejiofor ). He has a hit TV show in “Luther ” (for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe award this year), and few big-budgeted Hollywood films he’s starring in, on the horizon. He’s co-starring in Ridley Scott’s heavily-secretive sci-fi epic, Prometheus , which is currently shooting in the UK, and has a role in the upcoming Ghost Rider sequel. Lastly, a multi-picture deal with Marvel Studios may see him cast in a movie based on one of a few black superheros, like Luke Cage , or Black Panther. The next two to three years should be eventful and rewarding for Mr Elba, who now seems to have come a long way from films like Daddy’s Little Girls and Obsessed . We’ll all be watching closely. My name is Asia Gousse & my first Bieber experience was on November 17th 2009 . I had come home from school on the 16th in the car with my mom. We were talking about Justin of course when she broke the news, “Honey I forgot, I was supposed to take you to a studio to meet Justin Bieber today.” That sentence right there was when my world smashed into pieces. “BUT WHAT TIME IS IT AT?!” She replied with a shy “3 pm.” I turned my head to clock just to find out that it was 3:30. I was devastated. Later I was moping around at home in resentment. Later that night, my mom broke more news to me. This time it was good! She had let me know that she was only JOKING. That it wasn’t for today…it was for TOMORROW! The next day at school I told everyone about how I get to meet Justin Bieber. No one believed me…but who cares. We drove up to a tv studio and we are at the Live taping of ‘Lopez Tonight’ so I thought then, okay I just get to see him perform. We enter the studio through a back door. We had our passes so it was okay. I walked down the short hallway, make a sharp left, and up two steps. I looked to my left, and through two glasses sliding doors there he was. Justin Drew Bieber. On a couch with Kenny, surrounded by what was at the time just two dancers . I was just so stunned. It was really him. I walk through the doors, and I let my dad do the talking. We walk up to the couch he was sitting on. My dad introduces himself and I push him aside. I look at Justin, he looks at me. He took my hand and shook it. “Hi I’m Justin” (in my mind i was saying, Oh honey, you dont have to tell me who YOU are) I said, “Hi I’m Asia nice to meet you”. I handed him the cupcakes from my mom’s work and he eagerly grabbed them. I had a huge smile on my face. He had on a black american apparel sweater and a black hat with blue plaid on the bottom. He was so adorable! He acted like such a kid. He was having fun…obviously. He tore through out Little Miss Sunshine (vanilla cake with lemon center and lemon frosting) while Kenny devoured the Red Velvet. It was so amazing to see him eat the cupcakes because my mom and I put so much effort, love, and time into the company. He looked up with wide eyes and mouth full of cake and said “THANK YOU!” Anyways, he was definitely enjoying his time. Soon he was getting ready to perform and he put his earpiece in. He was turning into the freaking energizer bunny because he was so hyper! I was standing behind him at the time and he accidentally backed into me. He turned around and said he was really sorry. Oh but I was still so starstruck all I say was it’s okay! Then some lady came around with her phone told him to get next to me really quickly and to smile…1,2,3, FLASH! We were both caught off guard and she took a picture. Then Justin went out on stage and when he was done, he stopped by the room once more. I managed to get a quick, “You did really good out there” in but everything after that was rushed. Anyways, he had to rush to a concert at Universal City walk. Kenny had told my dad and I to come along for the ride with them. That would mean ME in the SAME car as Justin Bieber! But my dad and I went separately instead because he TOOK TO LONG! I went and saw him perform. I’ve had all of these wonderful opportunies because my dad is Sr.Vp. of Defjam Records . But trust me, I love and support Justin like every fan out there. Im a die-hard, bieber fanatic, and even withouth connections you know I would have found my way to meeting him one way or another, thats for sure! I made my Twitter on the same day as I met him. Then I went home and sang a cover of ‘Down To Earth’. I was the SECOND person to post a cover that song on YouTube. P.S. SINCE THEN, I have seen Justin : perform at his Valentine’s Day concert, present an award at the Grammys, perform at the KCA’s 2010, 3 of his Los Angeles My World concerts, watched him perform at the AMA’s, I went to a private screening of NSN3D, and lastly I went to the L.A. Never Say Never 3D movie premiere at the Nokia Theatre. I am BEYOND grateful that words cant even describe. The day started off great! When I arrived at the arena, I saw DJ Tay James. We didn’t bother him because he was with a group of people he knew talking, so we walked over to the buses. Later we saw Nick Demoura riding up on a bike and we stopped him and asked him to sign our book. Tay was walking over and we got pictures and he signed the book as well this time. He filmed us for WeKnowTheDJ.com!! We also met Kannec, and Robert Caplin who also signed our First Step 2 Forever books. Then my mom got a DM from Dave Reynolds saying, “text me your full name and number,” with his phone number in it. My mom did and when we saw him walking around, we went up to him and gave him his sweatshirt she made him. When we went in the line for the meet and greet, I saw Dan Kanter. I ran over to him and was like, “Dan! You’re on my necklace!!” He said, “Cool! I’ve seen your tweets about that! That’s so cool! “ I walked into the little tent where the m&g was, and looked at Justin. I handed Kenny the 4 letters I had with me and walked over to Justin. He said hi then I said, “Hi. Can I have a hug?” and this is what he said, “I’m actually really sick and I don’t want to get you sick. I’m really Sorry.” I told him it was okay and that he looked amazing. I remember he was wearing the same pants as Dan. Kenny and my mom talked for a little. The whole time they were talking, I just felt Justin’s arm around my waist. Finally we got the picture. On our way out I saw Dan & Tay again and got another picture. When I asked Tay for another picture he was like, “We already got one earlier!!” and I was like, “Not in my phone!” and he was like, “Ohh! I got ya!” We got to our seats and saw Kanec walking around, we called him over and I got up and hugged him. He was like, “So you met him?” I was like “Yes!!”. He saw we had Estovar stuff so he went and got Michael Vargas for us! They came back out and sat there and talked to us for at least 30 minutes. Then Michael saw we had more stuff, he asked who it was for, we told him Legaci. He went back and brought Micah out for us. Micah talked to us for a little but he wasn’t feeling well. So he took all the stuff back, and said he would send the guys out. Well about 5 minutes later, all of Legaci walked out wearing the sweatshirts. They came over to our seats and talked with us and we all hugged. Then my mom asked them if they would sing Happy Birthday to Ali since this was her present. They did! They signed stuff and told us to meet them by the buses after the concert. During ‘Down To Earth’, Alfredo was looking up and down the rows in our section and my mom stopped him and asked if he liked the hoodie she made him (Kanec took it to him for us) He looked at her and was like, “I WAS LOOKING FOR YOU! Thank you sooo much!” After the concert we walked back to the buses. Micah was out signing stuff. Then Alfredo was walking over, we called him over by FERNANDO!! He hugged me, then signed my hat.
