See Carey Mulligan Topless on Stage in Through A Glass Darkly

Mr. Skin may have to start handing out Bony Awards, because British babe Carey Mulligan is putting the “broad” in “Broadway” with her topless turn in Through a Glass Darkly , playing now until July 3 in New York City. Speaking of Big Apples, Carey, star of An Education (2009) and The Greatest (2009), bares her chest apples live on stage nightly (twice on Saturdays), and thanks to a horny theatergoer’s sneaky pics, we can see they’re looking ripe and tasty. Because there’s nothing that can match the magic of live beaver…er, theater. More pics of live nude girl Carey Mulligan after the jump!

Jesus Take The Wheel: 11-Year-Old Girls Falls To Her Death Off A Ferris Wheel

This is a parent’s worst nightmare. Just what the hell happened? A young New Jersey girl’s trip to an amusement park ended in horror as the 11-year-old plummeted to her death Friday while riding a Ferris wheel. Abiah Jones was on the ride by herself when she dropped 100 feet to her death, officials said. An eyewitness said Jones peeked over the railing and fainted, resulting in her fatal fall. The girl was airlifted to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead. The Giant Wheel ride at Mariner’s Landing in Wildwood was built in 1985 and is 156-feet high. It’s one of the largest Ferris wheels on the East Coast. The ride passed inspection in March and officials have not indicated that any mechanical failure was to blame for Jones’ death. “We don’t know if it was a freak accident, or maybe she was looking around, we don’t know,” Wildwood Police Capt. Robert Regalbuto told NBC News. The park remains open, but the ride has been shut down. Between 4,000 and 5,000 students were at Mariner’s Landing Thursday and Friday as part of the annual Education Extravaganza event. When you send your child on a class trip, you expect for them to come back with a smile on their face and a mouthful of stories. Sadness. R.I.P. Source

The Real Housewives of New York City Recap: A Hairy Mess!

The Real Housewives of New York City were back again last night with speed dating, runway walks, and hair removal, and the results are simply ridiculous. Ramona is asked to take another run at the catwalk. Given the fiasco her walk created last year I can only imagine that she’s invited back as a publicity stunt. It’s hard to say which is funnier, Ramona’s zombie eyed expression or the height difference between her and all of the other models. One by one these tall, slender, professional models hit the runway and then there’s Ramona and you have to look two feet lower. As one of the ladies quipped, it’s like Ramona is the mascot. Alex gives modeling a go as well with a campy photo shoot. OK, I guess it’s trying to be high fashion but the entire picture was absurd. I’m not sure what was worse, the hair teased to look like a brillo pad, the overly dramatic eye makeup, or Alex’s strange expressions. Then Alex shows up to Ramona’s event wearing the get up she was photographed in. I know she says she had to run straight from the photo shoot, but showing up with that hair took guts. The ladies comments range from asking if she wore a wig, wondering if she’d had an electrical shock, and thinking she was a koochi girl.

Coming To A Public School Near You: Gay Studies???

Over forty years ago, African Americans demanded public school districts and other educational institutions to reform their curriculum in order to reflect the experiences and histories of folks other than white men. Those opposed to the curriculum change argued that inclusion of the civil rights movement and notable black figures would challenge religious values and politicize the curriculum. Nevertheless, in the years that followed, other ethnic groups and women would follow suit and push schools to revise their curriculum to be more reflective of United States history. These battles over what and whom should be included in public school curricula are far from over; e.g., Texas State Board of Education approves revising textbooks to eliminate the civil rights movement, and Mississippi becomes the first state to implement a civil rights curriculum for grades K through 12. But it appears that public school curricula may undergo an entirely new makeover with the recent news that the state of California is close to becoming the first state to require the teaching of gay history. Beastie Boys’ ‘Fight For Your Right Revisited’: Five Things You Might Have Missed

Star-studded film is packed with nods to the Beasties’ past and present. By James Montgomery John C. Reilly, Will Ferrell and Jack Black in the “Fight For Your Right Revisited” video Photo: Capitol Records By now, you’ve probably watched — and subsequently re-watched — the Beastie Boys’ new “Fight For Your Right Revisited” film, which premiered at midnight Thursday morning (April 21) on MTV2, mtvU, VH1 Classic and Palladia. In theory, it’s a tongue-in-cheek retrospective on the Beasties’ early License To Ill days, picking up where their sublimely stoopid “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)” video left off, following Mike D, Ad-Rock and MCA — as played by Seth Rogen, Elijah Wood and Danny McBride, respectively — on a drunken spree that culminates in an epic dance battle against their future selves (John C. Reilly, Will Ferrell and Jack Black, just in case you’re keeping score at home). But really, it works just as well as a rather-involved exercise in cameo spotting, as seemingly everyone in the universe pops up for a frame or three. Thankfully, the Beasties were nice enough to include a list of co-stars in the closing credits. Our favorites include Susan Sarandon and Stanley Tucci as the bewildered parents who interrogate the Beasties post-party, Will Arnett as a businessman who gives a shout-out to “Arrested Development” (“COME ON!”) and Orlando Bloom’s inexplicable three-second cameo as a window washer in a Def Jam windbreaker. But there seems to be a batch of uncredited cameos too — we’re pretty sure we saw Danny Masterson and Zach Galifianakis in there. In fact, outside of some of Michael Jackson’s biggest videos (“Liberian Girl” and “Remember the Time” come to mind), “Fight For Your Right Revisited” might very well be the most celeb-heavy video of all time. But, as we said, “Fight For Your Right” is also so much more. And while you were busy trying to keep track of all the cameos, you probably failed to notice some of the film’s subtler moments — nods to the Beasties’ past and present, the majority of which pass by with blink-and-you’ll-miss-it speed. Here are five we’ve noticed. And while we’ve watched the thing no less than a dozen times, we’re sure there are some we missed. Let us know in the comments below! Chateau Ted el Michel D

5 Tips To Building A Great Relationship With Your Child’s School

Read more here:

Education budgets have been slashed. Teachers are overburdened and underpaid. Now more than ever, parents need to offer a helping hand. According to a 2000 U .S. Department of Education Schools and Staffing Survey, 91 percent of teachers say lack of parent involvement is a problem in schools. Here are a variety of ways to get involved in your kid’s education and foster success in the classroom—whether you’re a stay-at-home mom with daytime hours to give, or a working parent with only evening hours to offer. 1- Become visible. As teacher I cannot tell you how many teacher parent conferences I have spent in my classroom alone. I just sit waiting for a parent to walk through the door. It isn’t because we haven’t told you. It was on the calendar at the beginning of the school year. We have called. We have sent letters home with the child and mailed them  postal mail.  So “show up”!Make time for parent/teacher conferences and go to awards ceremonies, concerts, carnivals, science fairs, book fairs, and curriculum nights. The older your child is, the more important it is for you to be there. Often parents back off when children enter middle or high school. Attending these events may be the only way you can plug in at these levels. 2- Communicate- We live in the world of technology. A simple email to reach out and find out how your child is doing is helpful. It also allows for a method of trouble shooting and weakness in your child’s work. I have no enjoyment in failing a student. I write my email in the front of your child notebook. I provide my cell as well. Most teachers do that as well. Homework now lives on a centralized web page for your child. Take a moment and look at the class page. You may be inspired by what you see. 3- Make yourself accessible. Even if you work outside the home, give your children’s teachers your direct contact information.  I cannot tell you how many times a phone number supplied at the beginning of the year reaches an out of service line. It’s frustrating. If you’re at home but find yourself away often, give teachers your cell phone number. When teachers know you’re available, they’ll include you in much of what goes on at school.. The more you know, the better equipped you’ll be to help your children succeed. 4- Understand what is going on at school. Too often we go into school with an agenda based on our convenience. Set aside your preferences and ask yourself: How can I best support my children this year? and How can I best support their teachers? For some, working at the school isn’t feasible. But the time you spend talking to your kids about what they do in school and how they feel about it is just as important. Ask your children to set some goals for their school year. Offer whatever support they need to reach those goals. Then ask their teachers, “How can I best help this year?”  Do not assume that the whole truth has been told in a situation. I cannot count the times I had an angry parent suddenly appear because they felt their child was harmed. After the yelling ceased and I pointed out the real crux of the matter there was a new approach. 5- Stay aware . At times, we’ve missed deadlines or a overlooked piece of homework or two, can cause problems! I say “we” because as the grown-up, you need to supervise the contents of your child’s backpack It is in the sudden changes in your child that you spot the ship going off course. Stay aware. Remember the Titanic wasn’t sunk by one big gash but by numerous small gashes Remember that teachers cannot do it all alone. We need your support as a parent to work in partnership with us. Sha Money XL Speaks To Music Students About Record Business [VIDEO]

Here is the original post:

Sha Money XL , Island Def Jam’s Senior VP of A&R, took some time out of this day to impart wisdom on some aspiring musicians from Jay-Z’s old middle school in Brooklyn. The students from IS 318 ages 11 to 15 met the executive at the SAE Institute , a world-renowned audio engineering school. The founder of G-Unit records told the children about how he started out playing piano as a pre-teen. “I was once like ya’ll wanting to be in music…I tried to rap but I needed beats,” he said. “No one had beats for me so I started making music. But I realized my calling wasn’t to be a rapper. Thanks to the piano lessons I knew chord progressions and added what we learned in hip-hop and I became a producer.” Sha also shared the story of meeting the late Jam Master Jay and how the legend introduced him to 50 Cent . After the talk some of the students performed songs that they’d prepared for Sha to critique. “I’m inspired by their hunger,” he said afterward. “I learned a lot from the questions they asked. It goes both ways.” Watch the video below: RELATED POSTS: Former G-Unit Pres. Tyra Banks Says Going To Harvard Is ‘Fabulous And Fierce’

Fashion/media mogul talks to MTV News about business classes and writing her novel, ‘Model Land.’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Christina Garibaldi Tyra Banks Photo: MTV News Tyra Banks may be a successful media mogul , but that didn’t stop her from registering for classes at Harvard Business School. Turns out, she thought she could learn a thing or two. “I started last summer and I didn’t really talk about it. It was very incognito, my name and everything, but I decided to talk about it [now]. I think it’s a positive thing, especially for girls to see that you can still continue to educate yourself and you can still be fabulous and fierce and celebrate your femininity,” she told MTV News while promoting her new fashion website, TypeF.com. Banks hopes that by putting a face to those fiercely educated young ladies, they’ll also feel empowered. “I think a lot of girls think it’s either/or, even at my age, I feel that it’s never too late to continue your education,” she explained. “I can’t just rely only on my gut. I have to have the knowledge that my professors have in order to take it to the next level.” With her successful reality show, “America’s Next Top Model,” still a hit, and all of that school work on her schedule, Banks is adding one more job to her r

A “Lil Positivity”: Ambassador Susan Rice Speaks To Young Women’s Leadership School In Harlem

Ambassador Susan Rice, the U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations, marked the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day on March 8 in East Harlem, New York. There she urged tomorrow’s strong woman leaders, the 11th- and 12th-grade classes of The Young Women’s Leadership School (TYWLS) of East Harlem, to continue to win their future through education. Ambassador Susan Rice speaks to roughly 120 students and staff from The Young Women’s Leadership School of East Harlem on March 8, 2011 These young women, primarily low-income students of color, have a remarkable legacy to uphold: for ten straight years, every single senior at TYWLS of East Harlem has been accepted to college with significant financial aid. Ambassador Rice spoke to roughly 120 students and teachers who gathered in the school’s multi-purpose gymnasium on 106th Street. “There is no greater source of empowerment and success,” she said, “than to have, and to insist upon getting the best education.” After the event, Ambassador Rice met and snapped photographs with Jo’Nella Queen Ellerbe, Marjana Chowdhury, and Tiara Kittrell, seniors who have been accepted to prestigious universities and who delivered introductory and closing remarks on Tuesday. Together with their classmates, these young women carry on with their “most important asset,” as Ambassador Rice called it: “the education that you are getting, and the education that you will continue to get when you leave this great school.” Source
