Amanda Knox Shocker: Raffaele Solecito Retracts Alibi on Eve of Trial

On Wednesday, an Italian court will decide whether to uphold  Amanda Knox’s 2009 murder conviction , for which the Washington native was sentenced to 28 years in prison. The 27-year-old Knox was originally found guilty of murdering Meredith Kercher , but the sentence was eventually overturned on appeal. That appeal was later thrown out, and tomorrow, Knox’s co-defendant and former boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, will appear in court to stand trial yet again. Sollecito hopes to convince the court to overturn his 25-year sentence, and sources say that he may attempt to shift the blame to Knox. Sollecito originally provided an alibi for Knox, claiming that the of them were together at his home on the night that Kercher was killed. Now, nearly eight years later, he reportedly plans to retract that story and tell the court that he cannot account for Knox’s whereabouts on the night of the murder. “The defense intends to show that Sollecito has always shown himself to be extraneous to the crime, and that that night he did not move from his own home,” reads a document filed by Sollecito’s attorneys. “However, he cannot rule out that Knox could have gone out.” The defense also emphasizes that Sollecito “had no reason to want the death of Meredith Kercher,” and that “the alleged motives concern only relations between the victim and Amanda Knox, not Sollecito.” Lawyers for Sollecito also intend to remind the court that their client had been dating Knox for less than two weeks at the time of Kercher’s murder. “Raffaele Sollecito was not linked to Amanda Knox from long, deep emotional bonds that could have caused him to give his full adhesion to a criminal act desired by others,” says their latest filing. While Sollecito will be required to attend court tomorrow, Knox remains in Seattle, where she has attempted to move on with her life.  Knox got engaged to Colin Sutherland last month, and she currently works in a bookstore and writes theater reviews for the West Seattle Herald.  She has stated that she plans to fight extradition if her conviction is not overturned. Zayn Malik Wants to Marry Perrie Edwards ASAP, Sources Claim

Last week, Zayn Malik quit the current One Direction tour and returned to the UK to be with his fiancee, Perrie Edwards. There were rumors that Malik cheated on Edwards and was rushing back to England in order to save his relationship. The members of One Direction and the band’s PR team have maintained that Malik was simply fed up and stressed out and couldn’t stomach being on tour any longer.  The latest reports from various insiders, however, suggest that Malik and Edwards might be on the rocks after all: “He’s gutted that Perrie has been left humiliated,” one source tells Closer magazine. “He’s told Perrie that he’ll do anything to please her and wants to stop pushing their wedding date back. “He says he wants to get married this year, but Perrie is having a hard time letting go of what she’s seen.” Malik and Edwards got engaged in 2013, but apparently cheating on the road, then coming home and begging forgiveness has been Zayn’s M.O. for quite some time, and Perrie has finally grown tired of the routine: “They’ve been in this situation before,” says the source. “Perrie feels horribly embarrassed. John Rambo may soon be invading your living room. According to a press release sent out by Entertainment One and Nu Image, the companies have joined forces to create/produce a television series based on Sylvester Stallone’s beloved film franchise. It is being shopped to outlets both domestic and international. “Rambo fans cover all demographics and we’re confident that we’ll quickly find this series a home,” said eOne Television CEO John Moraynis, while Nu Image’s Avi Lerner adds: “I’m excited by the prospect of collaborating again with my good friend Sly for an encore in this next phase of the Rambo legacy.” Indeed, Stallone – currently at work on The Expendables 3 – is in negotiations to produce the project and may even star in it. Christopher Lane Murder: Racist Tweets From One Teen Suspect Uncovered

James Francis Edwards, one of three teens charged in the killing of Christopher Lane, posted racist Tweets on his account, according to a new report. One tweet from him reads, “90% of white ppl are nasty. #HATE THEM.” Another reads, “Ayeee I knocced out 5 woods since Zimmerman court! :)” The Daily Caller says “woods” is a derogatory term for white people. Christopher Lane Murder Suspects Charged Edwards and Chancey Allen Luna, 16, were charged with first-degree murder as adults Tuesday and are being held without bond in Duncan, Oklahoma. Bond was set at $1 million for 17-year-old Michael Jones, who allegedly drove the vehicle carrying the suspects accused of murdering Chris Lane . Jones is considered a youthful offender but will be tried in adult court along with his cohorts. Jones named Luna as the gunman, police said. The “thrill kill” slaying of Lane shocked the nation due to its random nature – the trio allegedly admitted they did it “for fun” and because they were “bored.” Police Chief Dan Ford said the victim, 22, appeared to have been “targeted” at random after he jogged by a house where the teenagers were. Australian Lane was on a baseball scholarship at East Central University and was in Duncan, Okla., visiting his girlfriend when he was shot and killed. Some bystanders tried to perform CPR on a dying Lane, but he was unconscious and had stopped breathing before an ambulance arrived. Prosecutor Jason Hicks called the boys “thugs” in court as he detailed the senseless murder they allegedly carried out at the end of last week. Edwards has had run-ins with the law previously and had been in court Friday, the day of the killing, to sign documents related to his juvenile probation.

John Edwards Has Heart Attack, Rielle Hunter Saves the Day, Tabloid Claims

Disgraced politician John Edwards suffered a heart attack scare in February and has been warned by his doctors to stop drinking, a tabloid report claims. Edwards “was at home when he started to feel pain and tightness in his chest,” a family source told the National Enquirer, the thorn in his side for years. The magazine claims that (who else) the 59-year-old former Senator’s girlfriend and baby mama, Rielle Hunter , came to the rescue in his time of need. “He was certain that he was having a heart attack, so he called Rielle,” the source said. “She rushed over from her place and drove him to the emergency room.” Edwards was warned that he needs to stop drinking, allegedly, and that his health may be in sharp decline in large part because of his alcohol intake. After reportedly being released from N.C. Memorial Hospital, Edwards returned to the Chapel Hill, N.C., estate he once shared with his late wife Elizabeth. He now lives there with his two youngest kids, Emma Claire, 14, and Jack, 12. He and Rielle are not living together, but may still be together … who knows. We’d say that none of this is true (and we might be right), but we said that about their affair initially when the Enquirer reported it, and look what happened.

Loch Ness Monster: Captured (In New Photo, Maybe)!

George Edwards, a Scottish sailor who has spent the last 26 years searching for the Loch Ness Monster, claims he has the best photo ever of “Nessie.” This may be true, though it’s not saying a whole lot. Edwards takes his boat, “Nessie Hunter,” out onto Loch Ness nearly every day, often with tourists who hope to see the creature for themselves. In November of last year, he took this photo : Early one morning in November of last year, “I saw something out of the corner of my eye, and immediately grabbed my camera,” Edwards said. “I happened to get a good picture of one of them.” The photo Edwards took shows what he says is the back of one of the Loch Ness monsters. Yes … one of them. He says there can’t be just one. “It was first seen in 565 AD,” he said. “Nothing can live that long. It’s more likely that there are a number of monsters, offspring of the original.” Loch Ness, a massive body of water in Northern Scotland, is narrowly connected to the sea at one end, meaning the monster(s) could theoretically come and go. Capturing the photo at the end of last year “felt good,” Edwards said, “because it reinforced my beliefs, and might help convince other people.” The picture, which he waited to release until he ruled out “every other possibility,” “clearly shows something that could only be the [Loch Ness Monster].” As motivated as ever, the 60-year-old Edwards says he will continue searching for more evidence of the creature “until they put me in the ground.” Loch Ness Monster: Real or mythical?

Rielle Hunter and John Edwards: It’s Over!

Less than a week after saying she was still together with John Edwards , Rielle Hunter now says she and the disgraced politician are no longer a couple. Apparently they broke up within the last few days. “We are a family, but as of the end of last week, John Edwards and I are no longer a couple,” she said on today’s Good Morning America . “Not at all.” Rielle Hunter , who has a daughter, Quinn, 4, with John, said she still loves the two-time presidential candidate, who was seen at her beach house last week. As for whether that feeling is mutual, “You have to ask him,” said Hunter, whose covert relationship with Edwards was exposed and led to his political downfall. “I really think he does.” “I fell in love with a married man and became something I wasn’t in order to be with him,” Hunter gushed last week, while promoting her new book. Rielle would not reveal who initiated the split with the former U.S. Senator from North Carolina, only, “We decided to end it. It’s hard. It’s painful.”

John Edwards Thanks Jury, Takes Responsibility For "Sins," Professes Love For Daughter

After a jury found John Edwards not guilty on one count and declared itself deadlocked on another five charges on Thursday, the two-time Presidential candidate accepted full responsibility for his “sins” even as he maintained he did nothing illegal. The politician, who is unlikely to be retried for alleged campaign finance fraud, spoke emotionally about his 4-year-old daughter with mistress Rielle Hunter . Despite his sensational and stunning fall from grace, Edwards professed his love for “my precious Quinn, who I love more than any of you could ever imagine.” John Edwards Found Not Guilty “I am so close to and so, so grateful for [her] … I’m so grateful for Quinn.” It was Edwards’ alleged efforts to use illegal campaign contributions to cover up his affair with Hunter that stood at the center of his federal corruption trial. After praising the jury as “an exemplar of what jurors are supposed to do,” he said, “I want to make sure that everyone hears from me and from my voice.” “While I do not believe that I did anything illegal, or even thought I was doing anything illegal, I did an awful, awful lot that was wrong,” he said. “There is no one else responsible for my sins. I am responsible. And if I want to find the person who should be held accountable, it is me and me alone.” Edwards then praised his parents and children, including grown daughter Cate Edwards , who sat next to him throughout the trial, and spoke of his future. He said he wants to be a good father and to work with poor children. “I don’t think God’s through with me,” the 58-year-old former U.S. Senator said. “I really believe he thinks there are still some good things I can do.”
