The young superstar joined the band on stage in Nashville last night, shocking concert goers by popping up near the end of the show and performing this track live for the first time. Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket: First Promo Pic!

Forgive us for a moment, but: EEEEK!!!!! Okay, sorry. We’re back. But Lionsgate has released its first official promotional photo of Elizabeth Banks in the key Hunger Games role of Effie Trinket and it’s safe to say we’re a tad bit excited over it. “A fun part of being an actor and a chameleon is taking on those looks,” Banks told The Huffington Post of the transformation into this Capitol spokesperson. “Effie has a really theatrical, over-the-top, completely not me look to her. I’m very excited for people to see my portrayal. I have no idea if people are going to be into it. I hope they are.” The Hunger Games trailer , of course, has already been released; while the film comes out on March 23.

Fans of The Hunger Games have four new reasons to get excited for this big screen adaption. Lionsgate has released a quartet of new images from the film, which stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, a young girl who lives in a futuristic society that selects teenagers from various districts each year to fight to the death. In the following pics, we see Katniss alongside Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket; along with shots of Josh Hutcherson as Peeta, Lenny Kravitz as Cinna, Woody Harrelson as Haymitch and Liam Hemsworth as Gale. Kendra Wilkinson failed to impress again on Dancing With the Stars, finishing tied for last Monday (albeit with two other couples, and a decent score). Decked out like a figure on a Fourth of July cake, the E! star looked less than inspired and more like she was simply trying to get through the foxtrot. She’s an amateur, of course, so no one expects her to be perfect. But you wonder if she’s still hurting from last week, after which she said she felt belittled and embarrassed by Carrie Ann Inaba. Elizabeth Banks has been rumored for the part of Effie Trinket in the upcoming film adaptation of The Hunger Games, according to new reports. A buzzed-about cast already features Jennifer Lawrence as lead character Katniss Everdeen, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta and Liam Hemsworth as Gale. The rumor of Banks as Effie , a flaky bureaucrat who escorts her district’s young death-match contestants to their fate, was first reported by Variety. Lionsgate would not confirm whether Banks will be joining the film, based on the bestselling young-adult novel (the first in a hit trilogy) by Suzanne Collins. The Hunger Games takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, one boy and one girl from each district are chosen to fight to the death in a televised event. Showblitz reports that Elizabeth Banks is up for the role of Effie Trinket in the highly anticipated adaptation, “the flighty bureaucrat who wrangles the young death-match contestants to their fates.” No word yet on who will play former Hunger Games winner (and Katniss mentor) Haymitch, but expect that announcement to happen soon enough.
