The 2014 Midterms are Very Important! By Denise Dunbar We’re less than two months away from the November 4th Elections, so it’s time to seriously…
The mid-term election thirst is real… GOP Senate Candidate Says Congress Impeaching Obama Is Possible The 2014 mid-term elections are fast approaching and, as expected, some of the struggliest of candidates are doing any and everything to gain a few extra votes. via Think Progress A Republican senate candidate opened the door to impeaching President Obama on Wednesday, telling a local radio station that Congress “could go in that direction.” Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA), who is facing off off against businessman David Perdue next week to secure the Republican senate nomination, is one of the few elected Republicans officials to endorse impeachment since former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin called on the party to embrace the measure earlier this month. “Not a day goes by when people don’t talk to us about impeachment,” Kingston told the Aaron McCready Show. “I don’t know what rises to that level yet, but I know that there’s a mounting frustration that a lot of people are getting to and I think Congress is going to start looking at it very seriously.” He added, “I mean, I think it’s possible, it keeps getting worse and worse. It could go in that direction.” Kingston’s primary opponent does not support impeachment. Do you think there’s a chance that President Obama could be impeached?

Robert Pattinson sure cleans up nice. And he intends to keep it that way! The hunky heartthrob recently sat down with the W all Street Journal to discuss life after Twilight and revealed some interesting tidbits about his personal grooming habits. The new face of Dior Homme Eau fragrance explained that he’s come along way in terms of hygiene and taking care of himself. “I was a brush-your-teeth-and-have-a-shower kind of guy. I can’t tell if it’s because of my association with Dior or because I’m older, but I’ve started moisturizing,” the 26-year-old divulged. He added, very importantly: “I’ve started moisturizing. I t’s been a quite profound chance in my life.” We’re not complaining. As for R. Patz’s silver screen career? You can check him out in David Cronenberg’s upcoming dark comedy Maps to the Stars . Overall, 2013 was an interesting year for the British actor. And a trying one. He split with longtime love and co-star Kristen Stewart in May after reconciling following Stewart’s fling with married director Rupert Sanders. What’s on the horizon for Pattinson in 2014? He simply says: “This year, I’m trying to see what my niche is.” Apparently “looking really hot” doesn’t quality.

Federal prosecutors have charged former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and his wife, Maureen, with taking $120,000 in undocumented loans and numerous gifts. The alleged corruption stemmed from his relationship with the owner of a dietary supplements business and helping it promote products to state officials. Bob McDonnell Indicted The 43-page indictment includes page after page of alleged requests by the McDonnells, Maureen in particular, for help in paying for vacations. And their daughter’s wedding, nearly $20,000 in designer dresses, a Rolex watch inscribed “71st Governor of Virginia” and numerous golf outings. The couple also allegedly asked for private trips on the company’s jet and, once, to use a $200,000 Ferrari. Bob McDonnell has denied any wrongdoing. The lengthy investigation embarrassed state officials and may have contributed to the election of Democrat Terry McAuliffe as governor last year. It also dimmed hopes that McDonnell, considered a rising star in the Republican party, could be a contender for the party’s 2016 presidential nomination. The McDonnells were charged with conspiracy, wire fraud and other crimes. Maureen McDonnell was charged with obstruction for allegedly lying to investigators. The couple are also accused of attempting to conceal the loans and gifts. In a televised statement with his family, McDonnell denied the charges, saying he regretted accepting the gifts, which “all have been returned or repaid with interest.” “I did nothing illegal,” he said. At the center of the drama were supplements that Star Scientific, a former cigarette manufacturer, said could help treat inflammation in diseases such as Alzheimer’s and MS. Officials expressed skepticism, saying there were no data to support the claims, which the company could not make in ads because its pills were not approved by the FDA. Prosecutors allege that in return for the gifts, the McDonnells attended or sponsored functions to introduce Star Scientific’s products to state officials and the public. They also allegedly attempted to arrange scientific research at prestigious state universities that might back up the company’s claims about their products.

His infamous “47 percent” remark was taken out of context, former presidential candidate Mitt Romney tells The Washington Post in a new interview. The oft-cited quote was widely interpreted as the 2012 GOP nominee stating that 47 percent of Americans can’t be persuaded to take personal responsibility. Romney says that’s not what he was implying at all. Mitt Romney on Obama Voters “Actually, I didn’t say that,” he says. “That’s how it began to be perceived, so I had to ultimately respond to the perception, because perception is reality.” The Mitt Romney 47 percent comment was made at a May 2012 closed-to-the-press fundraiser in Florida, where he made his pitch to donors: “And so my job is not to worry about those people … I’ll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.” “What I have to do is convince the 5-10 percent in the center that are independents, that are thoughtful, that look at voting one way or the other.” Romney told the Post that the focus of his remarks was on swing voters , not on those who were already in President Barack Obama’s camp. “[I]t was saying, ‘Look, the Democrats have 47 percent, we’ve got 45 percent, my job is to get the people in the middle, and I’ve got to get the people in the middle.'” “They’ve got a bloc of voters, we’ve got a bloc of voters, I’ve got to get the ones in the middle. And I thought that that would be how it would be perceived.” Romney’s argument that the remarks were taken out of context is a new defense for him … and doesn’t quite explain the “care for their lives” bit. In the run-up to the election, Romney at first stood by the remarks, but said they were “not elegantly stated.” Later on he said they were “completely wrong.” Romney nonetheless acknowledged that the quote was “very damaging” to his campaign, and based on the 2012 election results , it’s hard to argue.

Alex the election is over. Your dude lost. Get over it. Alex Jones Says Democrats Stole Election According to Raw Story Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones rang some familiar Republican talking points in a phone interview with Gun Owners of America president Larry Pratt, accusing Democrats of widespread voter fraud and speaking of immigration reform in fearful terms. “They stole the election. That’s what I’m worried about, Larry,” Jones told Pratt. “There’s so much election fraud now. They’re about to legalize the 30 million illegals. But they know this is their last shot, because America is starting to wake up.” Jones did not offer any evidence for his claim of election fraud. However past claims of fraudulent voting have already been debunked by not only non-partisan groups, but Republican strategists and even elected officials who have instituted measures seeking to restrict access to the polls. Jones also did not provide a source for his estimate on the number of undocumented immigrants in the U.S. Current estimates place that total at around 11 million people, a number which has been the baseline figure used during lawmakers’ current negotiations on the immigration reform bill proposed by a group of eight Republican and Democratic senators. For his part, Pratt accused President Barack Obama of being a “full-bore Marxist” who has centralized government power in the wake of his re-election in November 2012. “In his view, evidently, the fact that he barely got 50-plus percent of the vote means he can do anything he wants,” said Pratt of Obama, who defeated Republican Mitt Romney with 51.1 percent of the popular vote and 332 electoral college votes. “That he’s not the president in a constitutional republic where the president can do certain things and most things the president cannot do.” Alex Jones please have several seats.

…”what had happened was I had followed Clarence (Thomas) .” According to Business Insider: Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia made headlines when he called the Voting Rights Act a “racial entitlement,” and now he’s revealing the rationale behind that inflammatory comment. The high court is currently reviewing Section 5 of the VRA, which requires states with histories of discrimination against minority voters (mostly in the South) to get permission from the federal government before changing their election laws. The law was passed in 1965 when Southern states used extreme measures to keep blacks away from the polls, including violence, poll taxes, and literacy tests. Speaking to university students Monday night, Scalia said Section 5 is a “racial entitlement” because the U.S. doesn’t take an equal interest in protecting white voters from racial discrimination, the Wall Street Journal’s Jess Bravin reports. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was meant to be a stopgap measure to respond to racial discrimination but became an “embedded” form of “racial preferment,” Scalia told students at the University of California Washington Center. Interesting…he also brings up his black justice buddy Clarence Thomas . Via Wall Street Journal: Justice Scalia long has resisted claims that the Constitution prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation, and dissented from a 2003 decision striking down sodomy laws that criminalized gay sex. Other questions involved matters of particular interest to lawyers and inveterate court watchers. One student asked if it was true that Justice Clarence Thomas, after joining the court in 1991, was the one who led Justice Scalia to the right, rather than other way around. “Yes, it is true,” Justice Scalia said, suggesting that in the 1990s the news media unsuccessfully tried to pressure Justice Thomas to moderate his positions by painting him as a pawn of Justice Scalia. But behind the scenes, “what happened was I had followed Clarence.” Likewise, Justice Scalia added, media fascination with Justice Thomas’s habitual silence at oral argument was likely to harden his resolve to keep his peace. Justice Thomas is “a very stubborn man,” Justice Scalia said. Discuss…

She sure looks like a nice lady and not one to be voting six times under other people’s names and such… Via Fox News: The Obama/Biden lawn sign remains proudly planted in front of Melowese Richardson’s Cincinnati home, three months after the presidential election. It seems that President Obama has an especially ardent supporter in the veteran Ohio poll worker. Richardson told a local television station this month that she voted twice for Obama last November. She cast an absentee ballot and then voted at the polls as well. “Yes, I voted twice,” Richardson told WCPO-TV. “I, after registering thousands of people, certainly wanted my vote to count, so I voted. I voted at the polls.” Authorities also are investigating if she voted in the names of four other people, too, for a total of six votes in the 2012 presidential election. “I’ll fight it for Mr. Obama and for Mr. Obama’s right to sit as president of the United States,” Richardson vowed when asked about the voter fraud investigation that is now under way. Richardson is one of 19 people suspected of illegal voting by the Hamilton County Board of Elections in the last election. Richardson’s granddaughter, India Richardson, confirmed to Fox News that her grandmother voted for her, by submitting an absentee ballot in her name. India told Fox News that she is not angry, and gave her permission to cast her absentee ballot. “It wasn’t a big deal,” she said. But election authorities say voting more than once, or in someone else’s name, is a big deal because it is illegal and threatens the credibility of the nation’s election system. As part of a new effort to root out any voter fraud, Secretary of State Husted has ordered all 88 of the state’s county Board of Elections to hold public hearings on any credible voter fraud allegations or claims of voter disenfranchisement during the 2012 election. He said any substantiated allegations should be turned over to prosecutors. “Once the election is over, and once the winner is declared, everybody forgets about it. I want to make sure that we don’t forget about it, that we make sure we do, essentially, an audit of that process to ensure that we know what happened, and then use that evidence to guide us going forward. … We need to learn from that last election so that we can be better before the next one gets here.” “Fraud does happen,” noted Husted. “Most attempts are caught by the system. But there are cases that do slip through, as this one does, and we need to make sure that we really send a strong message, that if you do this, you are going to be held accountable. It might mean fines, it might mean jail time.” Voter fraud, said Husted, “undermines public confidence in democracy, and that’s why we need, whether you are a Democrat or Republican, to root out all cases of voter fraud.” SMH. Thoughts???
