Barack Obama Covers Rolling Stone And Discusses The Importance Of Their Being An African-American President In The Office

Barack Obama Covers Rolling Stone Barry-O is on the cover of Rolling Stone… Offering riffs on Mick Jagger and reflections on race, President Barack Obama is capping a week devoted to courting young votes with a Rolling Stone magazine cover interview that segues from presidential musings on politics to foreign policy to pop culture. Sounding an election-year theme, Obama tells the magazine that Mitt Romney can’t disavow the conservative views he embraced as candidate during the Republican presidential primaries. At the same time, he acknowledges that he, too, is struggling against public skepticism because of the slow economic recovery. The interview, conducted earlier this month by Rolling Stone publisher Jann Wenner, will appear in the issue of the magazine that hits newsstands Friday. Obama in the interview avoided characterizing Romney as a flip-flopper, a common criticism Romney faced during the Republican primary contests, and instead tagged him as a candidate who willfully embraces the Republican Party’s most conservative views. “I don’t think that their nominee is going to be able to suddenly say, `Everything I’ve said for the last six months, I didn’t mean,’” Obama said. “I’m assuming that he meant it. When you’re running for president, people are paying attention to what you’re saying.” Obama’s answer underscores an approach his advisers have been emphasizing lately, casting the race as one of sharp contrasts between two distinct candidates, parties and ideologies. He said his own political burden is describing to Americans the progress that has occurred during his administration and how, if sustained, it could lead to economic security. “There’s understandable skepticism,” he said, “because things are still tough out there.” He said the operation to kill Osama bin Laden illustrated the “constructive relationship” he has developed with the Pentagon. On Iraq, he said he had fulfilled his promise to end the war responsibly. “It wasn’t as fast as some people would have liked,” he said. “It was probably faster than some folks in the Pentagon would have liked.” Reflecting on whether there had been a change in racial politics since he became president, Obama said he has never accepted the idea that his election represented a “post-racial period.” Still, he said, he often hears people remark about the importance to black children of having an African-American president and African-American first lady. “That’s hugely important,” he added, “but you shouldn’t also underestimate the fact that there are a whole bunch of little white girls and white boys all across the country who just take it for granted that there’s an African-American president. That’s the president they’re growing up with, and that’s changing attitudes.” Discuss… Source More On Bossip! Serbian Politicans Give the Voters What They Want [PIC]

Voters have grown weary of empty promises and attack ads, so Serbian political party Srpska Lista has decided to appeal to their base by appealing to their baser instincts. This billboard, erected (heh. erect.) along the side of a Serbian highway, encourages voters to punch #5, Srpska Lista’s position on the ballot, when they go to the polls (heh. pole.) on Election Day. There’s sort of a reason for the dairylicious display- “5” is roughly equivalent to a “D” in American bra sizes- but we all know they’re just pandering to the horny male vote (not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course). Unsurprisingly, the billboard is coming under fire, but not for the reason you might think. Apparently it’s been causing traffic accidents thanks to drivers too busy staring to keep their eyes on the road. Remember, guys- one hand on the wheel, the other on the stick shift. Are you helpless in the face of hooters? Then dive face first into our Jamambo Jugs playlist right here at MrSkin.com!

Warning: the Tweeniverse might explode at any second. It looks increasingly like Justin Bieber will soon be teaming up with One Direction – the group behind mega hit “We Are Young” – on some kind of collaboration, as One Direction’s Niall Horan Tweeted yesterday: “In the studio with our boy @justinbieber last night, it’s gona sound great!” Later on, fellow bandmate Liam Payne wrote on the social network: “Got a first listen to justin biebers new album yesterday wowww big songs!!! Its gunna be a smash… Expect the unexpected.” It’s unclear what the future will bring between Bieber and these young British hunks, but the present has Justin’s “ Boyfriend ” downloaded 521,000 times in its first week of release, while One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful” also sits in the top 10 on iTunes. Like we said: Tweeniverse. Explosion. You’ve been warned. [Photo: WENN.com]

President Obama Slams Mitt Romney, Big Oil in New TV Ad

It’s begun. With Mitt Romney’s three-primary sweep this week, he effectively made his clinching the Republican presidential nomination a matter of when, not if. Not surprisingly, President Obama has released a new TV ad this week, in response to criticism he’s incurred from oil companies – and Mitt Romney. The President argues that he has actually boosted domestic oil production, and is only a target because he sought to end tax breaks for oil corporations. Tax breaks that would ease the burden on average Americans – by his calculus, at least. Obama’s ad not-so-subtly links big oil to, you guessed it, Mitt. Watch: Obama TV Ad – Remember If the election were today, who would you vote for?

Read this article:

In today’s open mic farce that has made the president a target of a fresh republican onslaught, we have Obama telling Russian presidential pawn Dmitry Medvedev that “this is his last presidential election”, and that he will have “more flexibility after the election.” One can only assume that Obama is referring to the aggressive NATO expansion which has angered Russia substantially as noted previously,… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : zero hedge Discovery Date : 26/03/2012 16:37 Number of articles : 2

Kelly Clarkson Covers Madonna: Watch, Cheer Now!

We are crazy for Kelly Clarkson. On Saturday night – the evening before this American Idol champion belted out the national anthem and Madonna performed at halftime of Super Bowl XVLI – Clarkson took to the stage in Louisiana and also took a few fan requests. Among them? “Crazy for You” by the Material Girl herself, a track that Kelly adorably told the crowd reminded her of a date at the skating track with some dude named Michael Webb. Note to Michael Webb: we hope you regret letting this one go. Watch and listen below as Kelly does Madonna very proud: Kelly Clarkson – Crazy for You (Live)

Mitt Romney Slams Prop 8 Ruling as Prejudicial, Wrong

Prop 8 has been overruled in California , as the 9th Circuit Court stated today that the state’s ban on gay marriage was unconstitutional. The decision has been met with mostly cheers Hollywood ( Woohoo!! Die Prop 8 Die!!!! Tweeted Olivia Wilde), but with one big jeer by one major player in D.C. Likely Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney has just released a statement that reads: “Today, unelected judges cast aside the will of the people of California who voted to protect traditional marriage. This decision does not end this fight, and I expect it to go to the Supreme Court. That prospect underscores the vital importance of this election and the movement to preserve our values. I believe marriage is between a man and a woman and, as president, I will protect traditional marriage and appoint judges who interpret the Constitution as it is written and not according to their own politics and prejudices.” Romney easily defeated Newt Gingrich in the Nevada primary over the weekend and it will take the political comeback to end all political comebacks for anyone other than Mitt to take on Barack Obama this November.

‘Big Miracle’ Is Heartwarming Fun Despite Chilly Temps, Stars Say

Drew Barrymore, John Krasinksi and Kristen Bell discuss their new film, which follows the rescue of three gray whales in Alaska. By Kara Warner John Krasinksi and Drew Barrymore in “Big Miracle” Photo: Universal Pictures If you’re looking for a feel-good film to see this weekend, look no further than “Big Miracle,” the story of the real-life rescue of three gray whales trapped in ice near Point Barrow, Alaska, in 1988. Incredibly, the effort became an international issue that involved a rare collaboration between the United States and the Soviet Union and garnered worldwide media attention. MTV News recently caught up with the three stars of the film, Drew Barrymore, John Krasinski and Kristen Bell, who explained the multi-generational appeal and importance of the story and the cause presented in the film. “The whales have Twitter accounts,” Krasinski joked when asked how the film might specifically appeal to MTV viewers. “So, streamlined information, done deal. Don’t ask us, ask them. They’ll talk all about it,” he said with a smile. “It’s a big movie that deals with participation, and with the election coming up and all these different things, and everybody is divided over this, that and the other, and everybody is angry about something. It’s one of those moments where you get to say, ‘I could just step in and lend my voice to something.’ And it really helps, it makes you feel important and special that you’re doing something. This movie sort of focuses on that completely, about how when you get a bunch of people together you can kind of do anything.” Barrymore added that the film’s setting in the late ’80s provides for a unique look back at our media and political cultures at the time. “It’s an interesting look back at how if things were a little different maybe we wouldn’t exactly be where we are. But, it’s not in a patronizing way, it’s in a really interesting way,” she said. “And it’s amazing historically, like, you know, environmentally and politically. But, I think it’s very true to what’s going on now, that if people work together, whether it’s protesting via Twitter for an important movement to change their country or to do something wonderful and important like saving whales. It’s working together, so I think actually in 1987 when this takes place and what’s going on right now today, they definitely have a connection.” Kristen Bell also focused on the warm, fuzzy aspects of the film, particularly how its positive message compares to the continually multiplying “train wreck” elements involved in other films and TV. “I think it’s a very positive story as opposed to many of the unendingly interesting train wrecks that are put on television or in films these days, which believe me, I’m not poo-pooing, but there’s something very inspiring about a story where a bunch of different people come together for a common goal and actually accomplish it,” Bell explained. “It’s very, very inspiring, I think. And often times, news headlines or things that are written about in blogs, you know, reality television, it’s not as inspiring as you want it to be, at least not for me. And it actually happened. It’s historical, so you’ll get smarter watching it. You’ll also be inspired, so you’ll be happier. What’s the downfall? See the movie!” Are you planning on seeing “Big Miracle”?
