Sick of your mom nagging you to register for health insurance before the March 31 deadline? Well, Michelle Obama and other celebrity moms are here to do it instead! The First Lady called upon the mothers of Jennifer Lopez, Alicia Keys, Jonah Hill and Adam Levine to remind people of the Obamacare registration deadline. Your Mom Cares About Health Insurance! Fun trivia from the “I Luh Ya PaPi” video vixen’s mom, Guadalupe: “Jennifer walked at eight months. She was climbing out of her crib when she was a year old.” “At one point, I thought, ‘Maybe she should be a gymnast.'” And this from The Wolf of Wall Street star Jonah Hill’s mother, Sharon Feldstein: “Jonah was a prankster … Jonah flooded the elementary school.” The point? Moms put up with a lot of nonsense from their kids, which is inevitable, but being uninsured shouldn’t be one of the things they worry about. Subtle, it’s not. But it is cute to see these celebrity moms. “Seriously, do you want your mothers to have a nervous breakdown?” Feldstein urges the youths of America. “It’s imperative that you have health insurance.” Okay, okay, Sharon. We get it.
8-Year-Old Pays Off Lunch Balances Of Less Fortunate Classmates An 8-year-old elementary school student with a big heart made an extraordinary gesture of kindness recently when he summoned his mom to help him raise money for other kids at his school who couldn’t pay their lunch balances. via AOL News An 8-year-old Michigan boy is warming hearts with his act of kindness for fellow students – by paying off their lunch accounts. Cayden Taipalus told WXYZ how he got the idea. “I was in lunch one day getting lunch. And a kid in front of me didn’t have enough money, and they had to put their tray down. And that made me sad, so I went home and asked my mom, what can I do to help?” And with his mom’s help, they were able to get a page on a fundraising site called FundRazr. Cayden’s initial goal was to raise enough money to pay off the lunch accounts for as many kids in his elementary school as possible. As of Sunday morning, Cayden had raised more than $1,600. On top of paying off lunch accounts, Cayden’s mom says her son hopes to put extra money into them. On Friday, Cayden’s mom told WXYZ that her son has been able to help pay for almost 300 school lunches. The school’s principal told the outlet that any student who can’t afford their lunch will still get an alternative lunch, but added he’s happy to see one of his students helping out others. Kudos to this kind-hearted little lad but aside from that…..are these schools really out here letting kids go hungry because their parents can’t pay to feed them school lunch? There HAS to be a better way around that….

This is going too far. Video Game Reenacts Sandy Hook Massacre The Sandy Hook massacre was a terrible tragedy… what company would make a video game about that? Poor judgment. According to Think Progress: In an online video game, players follow shooter Adam Lanza’s footsteps the day of the Sandy Hook Elementary school mass shooting. Called “The Slaying of Sandy Hook Elementary School,” the widely condemned simulation takes players through the shootings of 26 children and adults before it shows their “score”: Game creator Ryan Jake Lambourn claims it has a “gun safety” message, but activists against gun violence are baffled and disgusted by the game. The family of Victoria Soto, a murdered Newtown teacher, took their outrage to Twitter, telling Lambourn, “Please tell us how playing a game that recreates how Vicki died would be beneficial?” Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) told the Hartford Courant he hopes the “very disturbed person who could think of something like this sees the cruelty of what he’s done and stops it.” Post-Newtown, the National Rifle Association faulted video games and media, not guns, in its wide cast for blame. But the NRA is not above using controversial shooting games when it can profit from them. One month after the tragedy, the NRA released a game with coffin-shaped targets to promote gun ownership. The jig is finally up! Aaron Hernandez Indicted On Murder Charge Via Boston reports: Former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez was indicted today on a charge of first-degree murder in the slaying of a Boston man whose bullet-riddled body was found in a North Attleborough industrial park in June. Hernandez also faces five gun charges in the slaying of Odin Lloyd, 27, of Boston, in the latest chapter of the downfall of a wealthy NFL star who once seemed to have a bright future. One of Hernandez’s friends, Ernest Wallace, also faces charges of being an accessory after the fact of first-degree murder, according to the Bristol County Superior Court clerk’s office. If convicted, Hernandez faces a possible sentence of life in prison without parole. Wallace faces a maximum sentence of seven years. Bristol District Attorney C. Samuel Sutter’s office has alleged in court that Hernandez, Wallace, and another Hernandez associate picked up Lloyd, a 27-year-old amateur football player, at his Dorchester home and then drove him to an industrial park in North Attleborough where he was shot to death. What makes a man who has everything do something so stupid? Whatever his friend “mouthed off” about was not worth shooting him over. Throw this clown in the clink and lose the key!

This sounds like a safe idea… According to The Daily Mail , Utah lawmakers aren’t too happy about the planned weapons training convention that’s set for tomorrow: The Utah Shooting Sports Council has said they usually gather around a dozen teachers each year for training to carry concealed weapons but this year demand skyrocketed after the tuition was offered for free. The powerful lobby claims that the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Connecticut has been the catalyst for the massive interest, but Carol Lear, a chief lawyer for the Utah Office of Education said that the move was a ‘terrible idea.’ Arguing that teachers could be overpowered for their guns or misfire causing an accidental shooting, Lear said: ‘It’s a horrible, terrible, no-good, rotten idea.’ More than 200 Utah teachers are expected to pack a convention hall on Thursday for six hours of concealed-weapons training as organizers seek to arm more educators in the aftermath of the school shooting carried out by Adam Lanza in which 27 people, including 20 first-grade children died. The Utah Shooting Sports Council said it normally gathers a dozen teachers every year for instruction that’s required to legally carry a concealed weapon in public places. The state’s leading gun lobby decided to offer teachers the training at no charge to encourage turnout, and it worked. Organizers who initially capped attendance at 200 were exceeding that number by Wednesday and scrambling to accommodate an overflow crowd. ‘Schools are some of the safest places in the world, but I think teachers understand that something has changed – the sanctity of schools has changed,’ Clark Aposhian, one of Utah’s leading gun instructors, said Wednesday. ‘Mass shootings may still be rare, but that doesn’t help you when the monster comes in.’ Gun-rights advocates say teachers can act more quickly than law enforcement in the critical first few minutes to protect children from the kind of shooting that left 20 children and six adults dead December 14th at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. We understand wanting to feel safe but how would you feel if this was your kids school?? Images via tumblr
