The skeptics who say Lindsay Lohan shouldn’t host SNL because she does nothing other than get into legal trouble have a little less ammunition today. The actress is studying hard for the movie role she so coveted – and just got – doing all that she can to accurately portray a young Elizabeth Taylor. Lindsay just inked a deal with Lifetime to play Liz in the network’s biopic called Liz and Dick . Production on L & D is scheduled to kick off late March. Conveniently, right after Lindsay’s probation is over and done with. Lindsay is telling friends she’s taking her gig, which she lobbied hard for, very seriously and is “obsessing over getting the part right” for the film. The 25-year-old has been doing nothing but watching old Taylor movies to help her recreate the Hollywood icon’s posture, speech, and every detail. Lohan has also been reading old Elizabeth Taylor (1932-2011) interviews online and reading a bunch of biographies … dedication to the craft, people! She even posed with a Taylor t-shirt in those LOVE magazine pics . Lifetime is taking a hard stance with Lindsay too, demanding she complete ALL probation requirements before filming. She’s on track to … for now.

Last week came news that perennial problem starlet Lindsay Lohan was in talks to play screen icon Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime’s Liz and Dick biopic, which would mark some sort of career rejuvenation for the troubled La Lohan. But wait! It seems other actresses are also up for the role, including Transformers / Passion Play star Megan Fox . E! uncovered the role rivalry last weekend when the film’s executive producer, Larry Thompson, let spill that he’s “in conversations” with more than just Lohan, whose ongoing legal woes may complicate production, set to begin in the spring. “I’ve been talking to Lindsay Lohan directly, and with her reps,” he said, “and have been in conversations with other actresses, including Megan Fox.” But lest you think Thompson isn’t taking this casting bit seriously enough or is hedging his bets against Lohan, he really set the record straight about this Lifetime original movie film. “It’s a very serious selection. It’s like casting for Hollywood royalty.” Fox may have the natural dark-haired loveliness of Taylor over Lohan, but Lohan — despite films like I Know Who Killed Me and that one where she got pregnant and went straight to DVD — has demonstrated far better acting chops. I can’t believe we’re actually considering a future where either Megan Fox or Lindsay Lohan are going to play Elizabeth Taylor for a TV movie, so maybe it doesn’t even really matter. Anyways. We can all agree that Lindsay Lohan is in dire need of a comeback, and this might just do it — well, it’ll certainly help: Deadline reports that the 25-year-old starlet is in talks to play screen icon Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime’s biographical romance Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story . The pic will chronicle the legendary relationship between Taylor and Richard Burton ; no word yet on who’ll play Dick to Lohan’s Liz, which means it’s a perfect time to play a round of Fantasy Casting! I’ll start by throwing a few names out there: – Ed Westwick, who’s vaguely got a young Burton thing going on in his face, but is probably too young to play Burton, who was 7 years Taylor’s senior… – Armie Hammer, because why not? – Sebastian Stan, the underrated sidekick to Chris Evans’ Captain America and, coincidentally, another Gossip Girl alum… mostly because I’m intrigued by the thought of him setting off sparks onscreen with Lohan. ‘You’re going to see a part of me that I don’t ever tell anybody,’ Wes says of new docu-series, which premieres tonight at 10 p.m. ET/PT. By Tami Katzoff The cast of “Caged” Photo: MTV “Everybody needs that one thing that they can go do just to take their mind off everyday life.” For Wes, who lives in the small town of Minden, Louisiana, that one thing is cage fighting. Wes is one of three young men featured in the new MTV docu-series “Caged.” They’re all amateur mixed martial arts fighters struggling to make something of themselves in less-than-ideal conditions. Daniel, nicknamed “Golden Boy,” grew up in a wealthy family but lost his way after the death of his girlfriend in a car accident. Matt, who goes by the name “Danger” in the cage, is a talented fighter who just wants to make his parents proud. And Wes struggles to balance his MMA ambitions with his responsibilities to ex-girlfriend Red and their newborn son. “It’s an escape from every day,” Wes told MTV News via Skype. “You wake up and go to work, and then you’ve got to worry about bills and you’ve got to worry about this and you’ve got to worry about that. Well, when you’re in the cage, all that’s gone. You don’t have to worry about anything, because you’ve got to worry about this guy that’s about to try to kick your ass.” For the viewers of “Caged,” Wes promises lots of excitement. “You’re going to see fights — not only in the cage, but out of the cage — you’re going to see people talking sh–, you’re going to see jokes.” And, of course, there will be drama. “I cried on a lot of the episodes that I watched, and I don’t ever cry,” he said. “You’re going to see a part of me that I don’t ever tell anybody.” Wes had a difficult childhood and took to boxing as an outlet when he was 13 years old. “Then I started training in mixed martial arts, and I loved it,” he said. The recent Playboy cover girl ‘s next role might be that of Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor in a made-for-TV-movie for Lifetime. According to Deadline , Lohan is in very early talks to play the lead role in Lifetime’s original movie “Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story.” The TV movie, which was announced at the network’s upfront presentation to advertisers in May 2011, will be a biopic and will reportedly revolve around the epic romance between movie icons Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, whose tempestuous relationship was the most infamous celebrity love affair of its day. In a nutshell, Taylor and Burton were the original “Brangelina.” Lohan’s potential involvement would definitely elevate interest in the project, no matter the production or air date. The problem-plagued 25-year-old could use something positive in her professional career, since the last time we heard from Lohan was via her Playboy interview and court hearings that led to 30 days in jail for violating probation, not attending court-mandated therapy sessions and getting tossed from a community-service gig. Lohan seems to have a thing for misunderstood, old-school Hollywood icons, given the Marilyn Monroe theme in her Playboy spread and her onetime involvement in a Linda Lovelace biopic. Furthermore, Lohan and Taylor have a few interesting things in common, according to a 2010 article from Slate . “Both had domineering stage mothers, little semblance of a real childhood, fame from a young age, substance abuse issues, public emotional outpourings, and copious amounts of tabloid drama,” wrote Slate senior editor Jessica Grose. “The key difference, though, is that Elizabeth Taylor had a true record of achievement before she became the most notorious movie star in America.
