Greyson Chance just took a big step toward becoming the next Justin Bieber . The 12-year old YouTube sensation taped an appearance on Ellen this week (it airs today) and learned that the talk show host has started a new record label. Her first signee? Greyson Chance ! The company will be called “Eleveneleven” and Greyson will be co-managed by a pair of music heavyweights: Troy Carter (of Lady Gaga fame) and Madonna’s manager, Guy Oseary. Speaking on his rise to fame, and the number of individuals that have watched him online, Chance said: “It’s crazy thinking about 30 million people. It just makes me happy. It really just hasn’t sunken in yet.

Simon Cowell appeared on Oprah today and, after touting the American version of X-Factor , he laughed off Oprah’s question about the state of American Idol . “I’m not gonna say anything,” he said. “Wouldn’t change a thing. Everything’s perfect.” As for who should replace him, Cowell said something vague that could be taken as a swipe at Ellen Degeneres: “I think primarily, you’ve got to have somebody on that panel who actually knows what they’re talking about.” Not Justin Bieber, in other words? Even if Crystal Bowersox ranks among American Idol ‘s finest talents (and I believe she does), something’s rotten in the state of Seacrest this year. Last season, Idol rejuvenated itself with a blend of personalities — from subtle craftsman Kris Allen to sparkle sorcerer Adam Lambert. This season’s Idol cast is dogged by a number of distracting elements — and worst, the Idol -consuming populace is confused over the true culprits in this fiasco. Thus, we’re ranking the five biggest contributors to Idol ‘s weakest year. Hopefully number one will start to garner the skewering it deserves. Daggers ready!

Last night’s Young Hollywood Awards put a spotlight on several glamorous vampires, including the Twilight pixies and the cast of The Vampire Diaries , but the most sinister quote of the evening came from a kid who’s not known for being a bloodsucker. Alex Lambert (who capitalized on his regrettably early American Idol elimination by moving into Simon Fuller’s If I Can Dream web series house) seized the opportunity to cast shade on Crystal Bowersox, who seems to be losing her once-massive edge on Lee DeWyze. Lambert must’ve left his diplomacy in his other mullet.

Earlier this week, the tween world went into a tizzy when Justin Bieber was spotted at dinner with Miley Cyrus. The latter claims the pair is just wrking on a “side project,” but is this code? Should Liam Hemsworth be worried? No and no, Bieber says. On today’s Ellen DeGeneres Show, the young heartthrob referred to the evening and said he and Cyrus are “Just hanging out! If you look on the Internet, you’ll see other girls that I hang out with.” Hmmm… that’s not a total denial, is it? Bieber added that he’s “not really” dating anyone, a slight tease that is also likely to get the Twitter world all flustered. No way he’s hinting at something with Kim Kardashian , is he?!? As for the other topic fans care about, Justin addressed his hair. He said: “I blow dry it and then it’s done in, like, five minutes… I’m kinda liking the long hair right now. In the future, I may get bored and change it up, but for now, I like how it is.” Whoa, stop the presses! Can you imagine Bieber with long hair?
