Since we’ve all watched The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo like good little people-who-are-trying-to-figure-out-why-the-hell-it’s-is-such-a-phenomenon-because-even-my-parents-care-about-it-now, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what would’ve happened if David Fincher ditched Rooney Mara and opted for another ingenue to play Lisbeth Salander. Carey Mulligan? Ellen Page? Anne Hathaway? If I had the MS Paint prowess, I’d whip up renderings of Barbara Stanwyck, Faye Dunaway, and 94-year-old Joan Fontaine in the nose studs and combat boots, but I’ll leave that to your imagination. Will “The One That Got Away” be Katy Perry’s sixth straight #1 hit? She hopes so, and thinks today’s video release date might be good luck. On Ellen DeGeneres’ show this morning, Katy noted that if you took six #1’s and lined them up, you’d get 11/11/11 . We totally didn’t think of that earlier. So basically, she and Russell are only gonna have one kid, but it’ll be cute!
My best friend Allie and I are HUGE fans of Justin Bieber! We live in Los Angeles so when we heard he was going to be on Ellen (which films in Burbank) we HAD to get tickets. Most people who go to Ellen reserve their tickets months in advance. My brother told me on SuperBowl Sunday that Justin would be on Ellen the following Wednesday, but since it tapes the day before they air, we knew we didn’t have much time to try and get tickets. We emailed Ellen that day and begged for tickets. By Monday night we still had not heard anything but we weren’t giving up hope. Ellen has a phone number that SoCal residents can call for last minute tickets the day of the taping. We called that morning and they said they would call us back if they had extra. In the meantime, Allie and I were at school. We came up with a plan to just drive down to Burbank and see what would happen. Even if we saw a glimpse of Justin, we would have been esthetic. We got down to the Ellen studio and got dropped off. We walked up towards the holding area for the Ellen Show and we saw a security guard. We asked her where we should go to see if we could get tickets. She directed us to a small podium where the producers were. We walked up to them and asked if we could by any chance get tickets. They asked who we were there to see and we said, “Justin Bieber!!!” and they said, “Hold on we’ll see what we can do.” We waited for about 5 minutes and they gave us tickets! We were in shock! We got into the studio and they sat us with other Bieber fans who we talked to in line and made friends with. The show began and when Justin came out, we screamed SO loud. He came over and said hi and touched our hands and I grabbed his hand twice. The second time I grabbed it, he winked at me! I wanted to DIE! The show was close to wrapping and our day was starting to end, when Ellen said she had a surprise for Justin! It was a golf cart and Usher was the one who drove it out onto the set! We went nuts and Justin had NO idea. Ellen chatted with them about the premiere of ‘NEVER SAY NEVER’ which was that night. Then Usher stopped the conversation and asked the audience, “DO YOU GUYS WANNA GO TO THE PREMIERE?!” WE WERE GOING TO THE PREMIERE OF NEVER SAY NEVER! We couldn’t believe it! We got loaded onto buses and went to Nokia Theater and saw the movie. We got purple glasses and limited edition posters. We saw a bunch of celebrities including Selena Gomez, Will Smith and Miley Cyrus. The movie was awesome and seeing it in the same room as Justin was surreal! ‘It’s a great thing to say, huh?’ Gomez says on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show.’ By Jocelyn Vena Selena Gomez on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Photo: Warner Bros. Selena Gomez isn’t usually forthcoming with details when she talks about her beau, Justin Bieber. So when she stopped by ” The Ellen DeGeneres Show ” for an appearance airing Tuesday (March 22), the talk-show host took it upon herself to remind the teen star that she once referred to her now-boyfriend as her “little brother.” DeGeneres played an old clip in which Gomez says, “He’s little. He’s like my little brother.” After seeing the clip, Gomez joked, “Don’t take me to jail! It’s a great thing to say, huh? I don’t know [what to say].” She giggled as DeGeneres said, “You were trying to hide it still, right? But now you’ve made it public … You went to the Vanity Fair [Oscar night] party [together] and made me a fool.” “I promise you, I didn’t,” Gomez told the talk show host. “He’s just sweet.” “He is,” DeGeneres went on to say. “He’s sweet as can be. But he’s not like your little brother, is he? No, he’s not. And he’s a fantastic guy. You can’t try to hide that forever. I know you all were sneaking around, but that’s crazy. You’re both huge stars, and you can’t hide from us.” “I didn’t lie to you. I didn’t, though. I’ll say that,” Gomez said, adding that it “would be weird” to date her “little brother.” DeGeneres had a special gift for Gomez to help keep Justin close while they’re apart: a pillow with Bieber’s face on it. “He’s gonna make me sleep with this every night,” Gomez said. Sure, Gomez may have called Bieber her little brother during a chat with Ellen last fall, but that wasn’t the first time she referred to him that way. Back in February 2010, Gomez echoed similar sentiments to MTV News . “I love Justin. When he first started to come over from Canada, his manager contacted me and he just said that he would like to meet me and he was just such a good kid,” she explained. “And I feel like a big sister now, ’cause I want to protect him. So I’m always very cautious with him, but he is so talented and he’s so sweet, so that just started us wanting to work together.
