Killer Joe Trailer: NC-17 Thriller Gets Green-Band Treatment

The William Friedkin-directed, Matthew McConaughey-starring, hit-man-in-the-heart-of-Texas thriller Killer Joe has already enjoyed its share of festival notoriety for the sexualized violence that earned the film an NC-17 rating. Now comes a trailer that sanitizes for mainstream audiences what Friedkin and Co. won’t. Emile Hirsch, Thomas Haden Church, Juno Temple and Gina Gershon co-star in the tale of a young man who attempts to settle a debt by getting a cop moonlighting as a hit man (McConaughey) to off his mother for the insurance money. Guess how poorly that goes? Tracy Letts — who last collaborated with Friedkin on the psychodrama Bug — adapted the film from his play of the same name; Killer Joe opens July 27 in all its deep-fried NC-17 glory.

Tokio Hotel Call Musical March Madness Championship ‘Totally Unexpected’

‘That’s just incredible, thank you so much for your support,’ frontman Bill Kaulitz says in message to fans. By James Montgomery Tokio Hotel’s Bill Kaulitz Photo: MTV News One day after upsetting Green Day and shocking the world in MTV’s Musical March Madness championship game, Tokio Hotel are still basking in their post-title glow — and they want to share that happiness with their fans. TH’s Bill and Tom Kaulitz have just released a special video message to their Aliens around the world, thanking them for all their support and for helping guide them to the 2012 MMM championship. “Hey, Aliens! We just heard we won MTV’s Musical March Madness 2012. … That’s just incredible, thank you so much for your support, and it’s unbelievable,” frontman Bill said in the message. “I know it’s been really, really hard because there’s been so many great bands nominated … totally unexpected.” Bill’s brother Tom then chimed in — from behind the wheel of what appears to be a rather large SUV (championship swag!) — with a parting shot that’s sure to anger plenty of fans of those other great bands, accusing them of attempting to bend the rules to bring Tokio Hotel down. But hey, he’s a champ now, and he can pretty much do whatever he wants. “And they tried to cheat!” Tom joked. “And they tried to cheat,” Bill laughed. “Thank you guys so much for voting! And we are so proud to have you guys, and we want to thank you for your patience. I know you’re waiting for the new record and we’re working on it really hard and we hope to see you guys pretty soon. Thank you so much — we’re really proud of you.” Unlike what 2010 MMM champs Coheed and Cambria did in their acceptance speech — 2011 champions Green Day didn’t feel like making one, btw — Bill signed off by blowing a kiss to the camera (his brother flashed the peace sign) and giving one last “thank you” to the TH fans for their undying dedication. And with that, the coronation was complete: Tokio Hotel reign supreme as MMM champs, and until someone knocks them off the throne in next year’s tournament, well, let’s just say we could be seeing a whole lot more kisses being blown. It’s apparently the European way to celebrate a championship title. Check out the results from this year’s tournament in the MTV Musical March Madness interactive bracket! Killer Joe Gets the Kiss of NC-17 Death

The MPAA buzzkill brigade did what it does best in Hollywood this week when it slapped the film-festival favorite Killer Joe (2011) with the dreaded NC-17 rating. The film, which Deadline describes as ” Tennessee Williams meets Quentin Tarantino ,” stars Emile Hirsch as a young man with money problems, Juno Temple as his promiscuous younger sister, and Gina Gershon as their evil trailer-park witch of a mother. In order to avoid getting whacked by the Mob, Hirsch hires a hit man ( Matthew McConaughey ) to kill his mom so he can collect the insurance money. Both Temple and Gershon go nude in the movie. The filmmakers say they plan to appeal the rating in time for Killer Joe to hit theaters as planned in mid-May. The scene the MPAA found so offensive? Well, it involves Gina Gershon , forced fellatio, and a bucket of KFC. Speaking of which…lunchtime! Check out more from Juno Temple and Gina Gershon right here at MrSkin.com!

Jonathan Rhys-Meyers Attempts Suicide, Sources Claim

Jonathan Rhys-Meyers is a very talented actor with a very troubled personal life. Great Britain’s The Sun reports that paramedics arrived at the star’s house in London Tuesday night because he swallowed pills in what is believed to be a suicide attempt. “This is very sad. It was the opinion of those present that he tried to take his life,” an insider tells the newspaper . Earlier this month, The Tudors star checked into a five-star rehabilitation clinic in South Africa. It was his fifth stint in such a facility. Let’s all hope there’s still time for Rhys-Meyers to find his way. [Photo: WENN.com] UPDATE : A Scotland Yard spokesman says: “We can confirm we were called by the London Ambulance Service to an address in NW8 to report to a man refusing treatment. Police attended, and the man was taken by ambulance to a central London hospital. That was the end of our involvement.” A friend, meanwhile, says the actor “relapsed,” but did not try to kill himself.

Lindsay Lohan Parties First Night of Freedom Away

Lindsay Lohan had her ankle monitor removed and was released from house arrest around 10:20 a.m. Pacific Time yesterday. Last night, she partied with friends at the Lexington Social House in Los Angeles. We’re as shocked as you are: she didn’t go there for a late breakfast?!? Lohan reportedly spent the evening with actors Emile Hirsch and Lyndsy Fonseca, barely making it out of the club without falling as she tried (and failed) to hide from a swarm of paparazzi. It’s nice to see this star getting back to what she does best, isn’t it? [Photos: WENN.com] UPDATE: Lohan has replied to this coverage and written on her WhoSay page: “Of course me going to my best friends going away dinner is a headline- especially on my first day out of my house in 35 days. That does not give anyone the right to have a field day and manifest stories. IT WAS A GOING AWAY DINNER, THAT WAS IT “Nothing exciting happened aside from the very yummy hummus and pita. If anyone caused me to nearly fall it was the pyschotic [sic] paparazzi…. off to the gym now- have a lovely day xo.”

Anne Heche on Cedar Rapids, Religion, Midwestern Women and Turning Down Speed

Anne Heche is happy. Or relatively happy. At least that’s how she seems upon first meeting her — a brimming, enthusiastic counterpoint to her well-documented less happy times that you know will come up at some point in your conversation. Indeed, talking about past choices and decisions, she refers to herself as an “unguided soul” and expresses hope that she’s matured over the years. And while it’s impossible, over the short time we had discussing the intricacies of her new comedy Cedar Rapids , to make any grand conclusions of maturity, there’s definitely an energy level surrounding Heche that would be hard to simulate for a woman who wasn’t totally at ease with who she is — and who she was.

Bad Movies We Love: The Girl Next Door (2004)

Otherwise known as Your Honors Student Will Sacrifice His Livelihood For Porn . Holler, 2004! The Girl Next Door is one of the last horndog comedies to eschew parody and go for realism — but barely. It lives in a post-Shannon Elizabeth universe where the untouchable hottie (Elisha Cuthbert) has to be a porn star because all other options are exhausted/boring. How stupid! I’m game! And so is Timothy Olyphant, the I Am Number Four / Justified star, who plays a sleazy porn producer here. We hope to answer the following questions with today’s Bad Movie We Love: 1) Why do we like this scummy flick for oily masturbators? 2) Why is Emile Hirsch such an unconvincing loser? And 3) Most importantly: Why does Mr. Olyphant act like he’s still in Scream 2 ?
