A recent episode of the smash HBO drama Game of Thrones featured a controversial scene which appeared to depict non-consensual sex between two siblings next to the body of their dead son. George R.R. Martin – author of the books upon which the series is based – immediately responded to criticism of the controversial rape scene clarifying that the action played out differently in the novel, but still defending the shocking decision on the part of the show’s producers. Now, actress Lena Headey – who plays Cersei Lannister, the object of her brother’s unwanted advances – has addressed the scene for the first time and her comments are likely to create more controversy. Attempting to help the audience identify with Cersei’s circumstances, Headey said: “She’s staring at the body of her dead son…she’s joined by her brother who’s also her lover, so, you know we’ve got bigger problems than the one everyone is talking about.” Many have taken issue with Headey’s claims that there were “bigger issues” in the scene than incestuous rape, but amazingly her defense of the scene gets even more un-PC: “There’s lust and desperation…there was this need,” Headey says, describing the character’s motivations. “It wasn’t right and yet it felt great and it played out the way it did.” She added, “And I was really happy with it.” Headey is right that there were many intermingling emotions and desires involved in the scene, but going forward, we would advise her to tread lightly when discussing it, so as not to seem flippant about the trauma endured by rape victims. Last night’s episode of Game of Thrones may have featured a baby being sacrificed and an adult woman seducing a teenage boy, but the thing that really has fans upset is the accidental reveal of a major character’s identity that was supposed to remain secret. We’ll go ahead and warn you now that even if you have read the George R.R. Martin novels upon which the series is based, there are some major GoT spoilers ahead: Season 4 episode 4 of Game of Thrones ended with a terrifying scene in which a baby is left in the woods, only to be scooped up by a White Walker and transformed. It’s the sort of nightmare-inducing moment we’ve come to expect from the hit series, but for rabid fans of the books, the scene was hard to watch for a different reason: The ultimate badass White Walker who steals the baby’s soul was revealed in an HBO online synopsis to be the legendary Night’s King – a character who has yet to appear in the first five installments of Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series. The King has been mentioned briefly in the books as a sort of boogeyman used to frighten young children, but by confirming that the first White Walker is alive and well and snatching up babies, GoT broke an unspoken rule by entering territory not yet covered in the books. If you’re not an obsessive GoT fan, this may seem like a pretty minor offense, but since the show has thus far kept pace with Martin’s novels and the Night’s King may prove vital to the story’s conclusion, it’s easy to see why some fans feel betrayed and have taken to Twitter to express their displeasure. Search #NightsKing to experience some pure, white-hot nerd-rage and watch Game of Thrones online at TV Fanatic to keep up on all the bombshell revelations. Emilia Clarke is up on some Game of Thrones shit, and I am just posting it to jump on the bandwagon, you know to be relevant and inline with what is going on in pop culture, I follow trends 10 months too late, because this is a pop culture site and that’s what I do, and ignoring the babe from the most popular show I don’t watch and will never watch because I am too cool to follow the masses, but more importantly, I have had too much sex to respect anything with dragons in it, that nerd shit makes me feel uncomfortable…but ignoring it would be like ignoring myself…and even though that’s what most people do, especially girls I try to have sex with…consistently, and compulsively….I won’t let that happen her or not, not today, not ever when I can just put up these pics of Emilia Clarke looking’ hip in some snap shots for a magazine…and move on like they didn’t happen…which is what I am going to do. Just watch.

Since its 2011 debut, GoT has met or exceeded the high expectations set by HBO, setting a new high water mark this spring, with no apparent end in sight. A series-record 6.6 million viewers saw the Season 4 premiere, breaking online piracy records and briefly crashing HBO Go , the network’s streaming service. The first episode of 2014, “Two Swords,” became the network’s most watched episode of any show since The Sopranos’ 2007 finale (11.9 million viewers). Suffice it to say, the series is only becoming more popular with time. In an effort to continue that upward trajectory, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have also been signed to a new contract through Season 6. Excited for the renewal? What did you think of Sunday’s premiere? Where do you see the show going in the next three seasons? Certainly a good deal of the credit for these transformations goes to the HBO series’ costume and make-up departments (Who knew Hodor had facial tattoos?!), but it’s a testament to the GOT cast’s acting talent that such regular-looking folks are able to believably inhabit characters like shrewd dwarf Tyrion Lannister or turncoat turned torture victim Theon Greyjoy. Some of these actors reap serious benefits from modern-day garb and hair care products (Ygritte sure cleans up nice!), while others rock the sword-and-tunic look so well it’s pretty much impossible to improve upon. We’re lookin’ at you, Emilia Clarke Daenerys Targaryen! If the gallery above teaches us anything, it’s that an insane amount of thought goes into every detail of the Game of Thrones production design. Being reminded of all that intricate attention to detail has got us looking forward to season four more than ever. Of course, if somehow GOT doesn’t have enough nudity for you, you can always check out Natalie Dormer’s topless spread in GQ to hold you over.
Lent has begun, which means nothing to most people, I mean that’s like my stripper knowing how old Jesus was, and me asking if she was a religious person, considering her job…but any excuse for people to lose their shit and flash their tits, works for me… I’ve never been to Mardi Gras, but I love New Orleans and the concept speaks to me…it’s something I would have designed myself…
