Nominees for the 2014 Grammy Awards were revealed Friday night in a special CBS presentation, and it was the Macklemore & Ryan Lewis show. The hip-hop duo earned seven nominations, including best new artist, song of the year and album of the year. Only Jay Z’s nine nods topped them. “Seven is unbelievable,” Lewis said. “We came here hoping for one.” Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Thrift Shop (Grammy Nominations Concert) English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, who was also nominated for best new artist, said in an interview that he’d rather Macklemore & Lewis win the Grammy. “They’ve achieved so much this year in popular culture,” Sheeran said, referring to “Same Love.” “They really changed things doing a song about homophobia.” Fellow newcomer and hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar is also is nominated for seven Grammys, while Lorde and her smash hit “Royals” are up for several. Last night on NCIS: Los Angeles, the morning after awkwardness ensued for Kensi and Deeks, who had a hard time knowing how to act after … you know. Tom Cruise and Laura Prepon are a fledgling new couple, according to reports, with the movie star allegedly on “cloud nine” and smitten with the actress. British magazine Grazia (via The Independent ) claims the 51-year-old Hollywood hunk became friends with Prepon through their Scientology social circle. Cruise, like everyone else, watched Orange is the New Black Season 1 and saw how awesome Laura is in it, which only fueled his attraction to her. Tom Cruise Dating Laura Prepon? He reportedly took her out to dinner at The Renaissance at The Manor Hotel, surprising her in a classic car and with a 1979 bottle of merlot. The insider alleged that it went so well, the duo returned to the restaurant for a second Sunday brunch date, and later hung out at John Travolta’s house. Awesome as that date sounds, and even though we can see them together, Cruise’s camp shot down rumors of a romance, saying the report is “false.” It’s been more than 15 months since the actor’s divorce from his third wife, Katie Holmes, became final, putting an end to their five-year marriage. He is still involved in a lawsuit, however, regarding a celebrity gossip magazine’s claim that he abandoned Suri Cruise, his daughter, during the split. Eminem has released his music video for “Rap God,” his latest single from The Marshall Mathers LP 2, and it’s a lot to take in, lyrically and visually. Eminem – Rap God (Music Video) The six-minute video is a roller-coaster of rapid-fire wordplay and eye-popping clips, even by the high standards of the self-proclaimed “Rap God.” After the intro, Em channels Keanu Reeves a la The Matrix, being fed information as computer cameras scan his library of books, music, films and TV. The suggestion is that the rapper is something beyond human, receiving artificial assistance to pen his rhymes … which are pretty out of this world. Marshall borrows from many of the greats as well as him himself, dropping a rhyme cypher in a scene strikingly similar to his 2002 film 8 Mile . There are jabs, cheap shots and insults galore in the no-holds-barred effort from M-squared, to leaves little doubt that he’s still willing to push boundaries. As the video draws to a close, Eminem truly establishes himself as a rhyme deity (so to speak) as he walks across water in a clear biblical reference. “Why be a king, when you can be a God?” he asks before collapsing from apparent exhaustion at being just that awesome at what it is that he does.
