Dwyane Wade Mourns "Senseless" Death of Cousin, Calls for End to Gun Violence

Dwyane Wade is in mourning. The NBA superstar lost one of his cousins on Friday when she became a victim of crossfire on the sidewalk in Chicago. According to CNN and other outlets, Nykea Aldridge died while pushing a stroller down a South Side street when a multitude of men started shooting at each other. She was simply an innocent bystander. Tweeted Wade in response to the tragedy: “My cousin was killed today in Chicago. Another act of senseless gun violence. 4 kids lost their mom for NO REASON. Unreal. #EnoughIsEnough.” CNN has reported that one of the bullets struck Aldridge in the head, while another hit her in an arm. She died approximately 45 minutes after the shooting at a nearby hospital. Aldridge’s aunt told an ABC affiliated that she was on her way to an elementary school when she was gunned down.  Two suspects are reportedly in custody. Wade’s mother, Jolinda Wade, spoke on behalf of the family last night while holding her inconsolable sister close outside the emergency room where Aldridge was pronounced deceased. “Just sat up on a panel yesterday, The Undefeated, talking about the violence that’s going on within our city of Chicago, never knowing that the next day we would be the ones that would be actually living and experiencing it,” Jolinda Wade said. “We’re still going to try and help these people to transform their minds and give them a different direction, so this thing won’t keep happening. “We’re still going to help empower people like the one who senselessly shot my niece in the head.” Chicago has been hit especially hard by violence this year. More than 2,600 people have been shot in the city, mainly on the South and West sides. In July, Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and LeBron James opened the ESPYs by standing on stage and addressing this exact topic in front of a national audience. They were responding at the time to the Black Lives Matter movement and the rash of African-American deaths at the hands of police officers. They were also responding to the misguided responses of those who attached members of law enforcement in response to these incidents. ESPYs: NBA Stars Speak on Black Lives Matter to Open Ceremony “The endless gun violence in places like Chicago, Dallas, not to mention Orlando, it has to stop. Enough. Enough is enough,” Waed said on stage. This is not the first time Wade’s family has been touched by gun violence, either. His nephew, Darin Johnson, was shot twice in the leg in 2012 but recovered. We send our thoughts, prayers and condolences to the entire Wade family at this time.

MTV Video Music Awards: 11 Best Performances of All Time!

The VMAs aren't like other award shows.  But unlike when someone you met on Tinder tells you they're not like other girls/guys, in this case, the claim is legit. You never know what might happen at the VMAs. Kanye might interrupt someone's acceptance speech. Nicki Minaj might call out Miley Cyrus . Kanye might interrupt everyone's acceptance speeches. You really never know. In fact, the only thing that's certain is: there will be some amazing performances. Check out the gallery below to relive some of the most unforgettable musical moments from 32 years of the VMAs. 1. Beyonce: “Love on Top,” 2011 Beyonce crushed it with her performance of “Love on Top” in 2011. It didn’t hurt that she capped things off by confirming rumors that she and Jay Z were expecting their first child. 2. Madonna: “Like a Virgin,” 1984 The Material Girl was just exploding onto the scene when the VMAs first started confusing parents in 1984. To give you an idea of how different things were then: Herbie Hancock beat out Michael Jackson as the night’s top winner. 3. Britney Spears: “Slave 4 U,” 2011 Britney Spears cemented her place as a VMA icon with her 2001 performance. Giant live snakes are great for when you’re trying to make a lasting impression. 4. Taylor Swift: “You Belong With Me,” 2009 Later that night, Taylor would become an unwilling participant in the most notorious moment in VMAs history. But when she crooned one of her signature tunes to a subway full of fans, she was still just the country girl with a broken heart full of hits. 5. Eminem: “The Real Slim Shady”/”Way I Am,” 2000 There were thousands of Eminem wannabes in 2000. But as Mr. Mathers proved in his unforgettable 2000 medley, there’s only one real Slim Shady. 6. Diddy, Faith Evans, Sting: “I’ll Be Missing You” Diddy’s tribute to the late, great Notorious B.I.G. became a massive success in 1997. It also made for one of the most unforgettable performances in VMA history. View Slideshow

What Beef??? Drake Brings Eminem Out On Stage During Detroit Show [Video]

Drake Performs Live With Eminem In Detroit Anyone looking for a hot 16 showdown between one of Rap’s all-time greats and the 6 God can pretty much forget it at this point. Despite internet and industry buzzing that Drake (of all people) declared that he was fully prepared to ether Eminem should the need arise due to his ongoing one-sided beef with Joe Budden …it’s looking like that’s a complete non-issue. Hot 97’s Ebro teased that Drake threatened to come for Eminem’s rap royalty crown just a few weeks back at OVO Fest…( skip to the 55 sec mark ): Prompting Drake to completely denounce the network altogether…and rumors of an Em/Drizzy beef to begin swirling. Welp, so much for that! Drake brought out the pale rap legend during the Detroit stop of his Summer Sixteen tour , and they performed “Forever” and spoke each other’s praises: “Detroit, make some noise for the greatest rapper that ever get on a mother****ing microphone,” Drake yelled. To which Em eventually responded: “It’s an honor to share the stage with this man right here.” Looks like they’re cool on everything. And as you could clearly see, the crowd loved it.
