Elsewhere, Philip Seymour Hoffman told Craig Ferguson about his craft, Ben Affleck talked bank robbers, Stephen Colbert decried American Apparel and Jimmy Fallon taught viewers how to be sports fans.

Easy A Director Will Gluck on Emma Stone’s Star Quality and Amanda Bynes’s Semi-Retirement

The upcoming Emma Stone vehicle Easy A is all about how one simple thing can change your reputation overnight, so what will the highly anticipated high school comedy do for director Will Gluck? In advance of the film’s Toronto Film Festival premiere, Movieline talked to Gluck about his postmodern approach to comedy, his next movie Friends with Benefits (which is competing against two other projects that want to use that title), and the asthma attack-inducing power of the female orgasm.

Emma Stone and Woody Harrelson Added to Friends With Benefits

Forget all those other projects going under the title Friends with Benefits — the NBC sitcom and the Ashton Kutcher film that was previously known as F***buddies — this is the one you’ll want to keep an eye on. Already sporting the inspired tandem of Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis, the film has added former Zombieland co-stars Woody Harrelson and Emma Stone to the cast, joining Patricia Clarkson, Richard Jenkins, Jenna Elfman and Andy Samberg. Great and good, but Harrelson can talk pal Bill Murray into making a cameo appearance as Kunis’ stepdad, then they’d be onto something. [ The Wrap ]

Survivor’s Russell Arrested

Here’s another blindside that notorious Survivor player Russell Hantz didn’t see coming. The current “Heroes vs. Villains” contestant was arrested this morning for battery at a Louisiana street festival, reports TMZ . Alas, he had already given his “get out of jail” immunity idol to Parvati. (How about that tribal council last night? Jeff Probst is stone-cold melting down about it.) [ TMZ ]
