Young Jeezy Rouses New York Crowd, With Help From Kanye, Jay-Z

Monday show was in honor of sixth anniversary of his debut LP, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101. By Alvin Blanco Young Jeezy Photo: MTV News According to , New York is his second home. The Atlanta-based rapper looked quite comfortable onstage Monday night at the Highline Ballroom for a special TM101: Live! show. The performance was in honor of the sixth anniversary of his platinum-selling debut album, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101. Jeezy ran through other selections from his catalog of commercial and street hits, too, while bringing out a number of special, crowd-hyping guests, including Jay-Z and Kanye West. Doors to the show didn’t open until 9 p.m., and those on a line that stretched down 16th Street who made it past the logjam at the front door and into the venue were greeted by Funkmaster Flex of Hot 97 (the station and The Source magazine were among the event’s sponsors), warming up the crowd with a DJ set. Flex spun a number of favorites, included Jay-Z and Kanye West’s (ahem, the Throne ‘s) “Otis” single , which he played at least a couple of times while boisterously expressing his fondness for the tune. As Flex’s set went on, the crowd swelled, including the VIP section upstairs, where artists like Royce Da 5’9″ and Bun B were in attendance. Jeezy’s band, most dressed in dark suits and fitted baseball caps, finally stepped onstage a little before 11:30 p.m. The “favorite rapper’s favorite rapper” hit the stage dressed in all black and wearing sunglasses, with a few dazzling, diamond-encrusted chains around his neck. He kicked off his set with the rousing “Standing Ovation” from his debut album. Most of the crowd rapped along with Jeezy word for word and did so throughout the nearly two dozen songs he would perform as the night went on. After the opener, Jeezy segued into “Let’s Get It/ Sky’s the Limit” and “Go Crazy,” both from his debut. The latter had already been met with an enthusiastic response as soon as its opening notes were heard. But the crowd reached a fever pitch when an unannounced Jay-Z coolly hit the stage to perform his verse as well. After Hova left the stage, Jeezy went into “Trap Star” and afterwards asked the crowd, “NYC, is y’all riding with me tonight?” The band then went into “Put On,” from the trap star’s third album, The Recession. Kanye West then strode to the stage, sending the crowd into another frenzy as he performed his verse from the song. “I told y’all we just getting started,” said Jeezy after Yeezy exited the stage. The Def Jam rapper then performed more fan favorites from his debut, including “Bottom of the Map,” “Bang” and “Get Ya Mind Right,” before the next guest, Bun B, came on to perform “Trap or Die.” Soon after the UGK legend’s cameo, the band left the stage and Jeezy performed some of his notable remix verses, including Rocko’s “Umma Do Me” and recent G-Unit signee Shawty Lo’s “Dey Know Remix.” The next guest to hit the stage was Fabolous, who performed “Flexin” from Jeezy’s The Real Is Back mixtape from earlier this year. The Brooklyn rapper was then given time to perform his own hit “You Be Killin’ Em,” to the crowd’s delight. He then went into another joint cut with Jeezy called “Rollin’ ” before leaving the stage for good. After demonstrating his crowd-control skills by kicking an a cappella version of “Win” from the Real Is Back mixtape, Jeezy gave up the stage up to the LOX. The native NYC rappers got the crowd amped, performing a medley of their hits including Sheek Louch’s “Kiss Your Ass Goodbye,” Styles P’s “I Get High” and Jadakiss’ “We Gone Make It.” The show hit a lull upon Jeezy’s return with “Tear It Up,” about as close to a slow jam as you’ll get, before the energy inside the Highline Ballroom rose again with “Don’t Get Caught.” He then took it to his sophomore album, The Inspiration, and performed the R. Kelly-assisted “Go Getta” before returning to his debut with the Akon-aided “Soul Survivor.” With the show approaching its close, Jeezy declared that his much-delayed fourth album, Thug Motivation 103, is on the way before launching into “Lose My Mind,” one of said project’s first singles. After calling New York “my second home,” Jeezy closed the show with “I Luv It,” the first single from his Inspiration album. But before leaving the stage to a thunderous ovation, Jeezy made sure to tell the crowd, which was now beginning to head to the exits, that he had just gotten word that TM 103 will be in stores September 20. Britney Spears Adds DJ Pauly D To Femme Fatale Tour

‘Britney is one of my favorite performers and certainly one of this generation’s most influential artists,’ ‘Jersey Shore’ star says. By Jocelyn Vena “Jersey Shore” star DJ Pauly D Photo: Tom Briglia/ FilmMagic A while back, there was a rumor that “Jersey Shore” star DJ Pauly D would be an opening act on Britney Spears’ Femme Fatale tour . That rumor can now be confirmed as true. Pauly D will open for the singer on six of her August tour dates. He’s set to hit the road with Spears on August 17 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, before his jaunt with her wraps on August 25 in Charlotte, South Carolina. “I am so excited to be performing on the Britney Spears Femme Fatale tour,” he said in a statement. “Britney is one of my favorite performers and certainly one of this generation’s most influential artists. It’s an amazing platform to connect with my fans around the country.” Spears currently has several artists opening for her, including Jessie and the Toy Boys, Nervo and Nicki Minaj. Pauly D served as Spears’ warm-up act at her gig in Las Vegas in March, where he spoke to MTV News about her influence on pop music . “What it means to DJ a concert like a Britney Spears concert or something like that, it’s an association with monsters like Britney Spears and it just legitimizes your career,” he explained at the Palms Hotel and Casino, where Spears electrified the stage just days before she dropped her album. “And it’s just fun being onstage with Britney Spears performing like she’s performing. I love it. I couldn’t ask for more.” And if fans are expecting Pauly to DJ some of the singer’s greatest hits, they’d better think again. “A DJ should not play the artist’s songs at her concert ’cause she has to perform these songs,” he said. “I’m not going to be playing any Britney before she performs; maybe after. I’ll let her perform, let her shine ’cause it’s her night.” DJ Pauly D will join Britney Spears’ Femme Fatale tour on the following dates:

RZA Teases Unreleased ODB Material

‘When you got an estate, it’s so much paperwork and red tape and legal stuff you gotta deal with,’ Wu-Tang mastermind says of late friend’s music. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Adam Murphy RZA Photo: MTV News Wu-Tang Clan ain’t nothin’ ta eff wit, and neither are the RZA ‘s beats. While in Berlin promoting his new headphone line Chambers by Rza, the Wu producer told MTV News that he has given beats to a number of hip-hop artists, including Nas, Busta Rhymes and Ludacris, as well as his cousin and Wu-partner GZA for his Liquid Swords 2 album. “Me and GZA talked about doing Liquid Swords part 2, a sequel. We talked about it for a while,” RZA said about the follow-up to GZA’s 1996 album. “We actually started a little and then we pulled back based on scheduling, based on my movie.” RZA’s love affair with Hollywood is no secret. As an actor, Bobby Digital has appeared in “American Gangster” alongside Russell Crowe and has recently been cast in “G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes.” RZA has also been hard at work directing “The Man With the Iron Fists,” a movie set in feudal China which will star Russell Crowe, Pam Grier and Lucy Liu. “The movie has taken me out of the loop of music. But what I have been doing, I’ve been going to studios and inviting people to my studio. So I went to the studio with Luda and I emptied beats from my beat machine for him. Whether he use it or not is up to him, but I just been emptying out my beat machines,” RZA said before revealing more of his collaborative hopefuls. “I emptied out some beats on Busta, I emptied out some beats on Nas, emptied out some beats for [Ghostface Killah] and for Wu-Tang Clan — just sent them 20 beats a few weeks ago.” Though he is very passionate about making movies at the moment, RZA knows music is what got him where he is today. “I really want to put a lot of my energy into film, but I know that I got here because of music and I know people dig my music. And I’m like, ‘Why not put the music out there too?’ ” Judging from his activity, it is a safe bet that fans can hear a lot of new RZA music in the near future, but anyone expecting to hear collaborations between the producer and his cousin, the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard, shouldn’t get their hopes up. While the Abbot does confirm that he has plenty of unreleased Ol’ Dirty material, releasing those tunes are quite difficult. “That’s a very tricky situation, because ODB has passed and he has an estate,” he said. “When you got an estate, it’s so much paperwork and red tape and legal stuff you gotta deal with. I tried to put out a song last year called ‘Dirt’s the Boogie,’ and they threatened me with an injunction and I wrote the lyrics to the song. Made the beat, wrote the lyrics and Dirty just performed it.” Instead of holding onto the work, though, RZA is contemplating leaving the unheard recordings to Dirty’s son when the time is right. “I will tell the fans, I do have a few 2-inch reels of material nobody has but me. I don’t know what I’ll do with it,” he said. “Maybe in time I’ll just give it to his son, I don’t know.” Do you want to hear RZA’s ODB tapes? Let us know in the comments! Katy Perry Postpones Tour Dates Due To Illness

Pop star reschedules two concerts after ‘an attack of food poisoning leading to severe dehydration.’ By James Dinh Katy Perry Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage Another day, another sick pop star cancels summer tour dates. Just two days after Taylor Swift announced to fans that she would have to postpone dates on her Speak Now Tour because of bronchitis, Katy Perry said on Friday (July 8) that she will have to postpone two dates on her California Dreams trek after suffering from “an attack of food poisoning leading to severe dehydration.” According to a statement from concert promoters Jam Productions, Perry has rescheduled her July 8 show at Chicago’s Allstate Arena for August 21, and her July 9 gig at St. Paul’s Xcel Energy Center for August 23 in the same venues. And once recovered, Perry said she plans to make it up to her fans. “I apologize to my fans in Chicago and the Twin Cities for not being able to perform this weekend, but I am going to return in a few weeks to give them the very best show ever!” she said. Perry also took to Twitter to deliver the unfortunate news, tweeting , “Chicago and St. Paul – I’m so sorry to have to postpone today and tomorrow’s shows. But I’ll be back 8/21 (CHI) and 8/23 (St. Paul)!” Despite the tour-date postponement, the pop singer has been riding high off of her mega-successful Teenage Dream album, which is closing in on Michael Jackson ‘s #1 singles record. If the LP’s recently released “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” hits the top of the Billboard Hot 100, she’ll become the first female artist to have five chart-topping songs off one album. Additionally, Perry will become the first artist to nab the record since Jackson, who had five #1 singles off his Bad album in the late-’80s. 4 Things Not To Do When You Divorce

Continue reading here:

Tensions run high, and couples often make poor decisions in the heat of the moment. Given the mountain of financial, practical and emotional details that have to be sorted, it’s not surprising so many couples wind up making critical mistakes on the road to divorce. Simple Ways To Enjoy Your Life 1- Don’t Increase Your Debt Divorce is expensive. On top of attorney’s fees, you will need money to set up a new household. Though it may be difficult to make ends meet, you should get used to having less now. Remember, your legal bills and court costs may come due before you receive your first payment of alimony or even your share of the marital property. 2- Don’t Take It Out On the Kids Children need a supportive environment to deal with divorce. Minimize the amount you talk about the process. It will give you more time to be there for them. Refocus your energy so you can attend their school and after-school events, help them with homework, and take them out once in a while to the movies or the zoo. When you are relaxed, they get more relaxed. Though you should be comfortable talking with your children about the divorce, the point of this divorce is to relieve stress on you and your family. 3- Don’t Forget to Change Your Will Divorce does not automatically revoke a will. If you want to prevent your soon-to-be-ex-spouse from receiving the monies and privileges granted them in your will, you need to update your will. You can re-do a will at any time. But if you die before you are granted a divorce, and you have left your spouse nothing, he or she can sue and recover part of your estate. 4- Don’t Refuse to See a Therapist Seeing a therapist can help you get through the range of emotions that you will experience during your divorce. It is a good idea to get help before you become extremely depressed or angry. A therapist is not just someone to talk to. They are also a professional who can show you how to relax, how to talk to your kids, and how to remain calm in court. Most importantly, a therapist can help you figure out how to become self-sufficient. How A Few Minutes Of Talk Can Save Your Marriage

Kim Kardashian’s Bullshit Ass X-Ray of the Day

I’m not posting this cuz it is hot. I am posting it because it is stupid and almost pisses me off, but luckily I don’t care enough to actually care….I just know I wanted to ignore this, and I see it popping up all over the place, so I figured I’d say what I gotta say about it…. The rumor is that this is Kim K Superstar posing next to her ass x-ray to prove she doesn’t have ass implants, when anyone with a brain can just look at her thighs and stomach and realize that she didn’t need to go to all the trouble…we believed she was just fat just fine the second she took off her fucking SPANX…. More improtantly, there’s no proof this is an actual X-Ray of her ass, why would anyone get and X-Ray of their ass, unless of course it was strictly for a publicity stunt that lacks serious creativity…. Meaning, let’s hope the radiation from this shit, if it is actually an X-Ray of her ass, made her infertile…so her breed dies off like the fucking wolly mammoth or some shit…. The fact that people are talking about this like it matters or like it is news, reminds me that that world is definitely gonna end in 2012…Thank fucking god, cuz I can’t take much more of this useless, unimportant, unerotic, waste of our energy drivel Seriously people, this shit doesn’t matter. Get with it…..

Fans have been lined up at Macy’s Herald Square for days waiting for a sniff and a chance to meet the Biebs on Thursday. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber (file) Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Justin Bieber released his fragrance, Someday , this week and he launched an all-out promo campaign for the occasion. The Biebs hit New York City, dropping by “The Late Show With David Letterman” on Wednesday night, and then popping up on the “Today” show Thursday morning (June 23). He then sat down the ladies of “The View.” On “Letterman,” the pop star delivered the “top 10” list, revealing little-known personal facts. So, what did fans learn about Bieber? “I served eight months in prison for siphoning gas,” he shared. He also joked, “I begged my publicist to get me out of this.” But most important, he revealed, “It’s a hair piece.” During his “Today” show appearance, he sprayed fans with Someday and signed autographs. “I’m more interested in how females smell than males, which is why I decided to do it for all the girls, and 100 percent of the proceeds go to charity,” he shared. “We did a couple [charities], like, Pencils [of] Promise,” he added about the educational organization. “They’re doing this campaign called Schools 4 All, so I’m just really excited.” Bieber also described his inspiration for the scent as “different girls and stuff.” After his appearance on “The View” this morning, Bieber will head to Macy’s Herald Square on 34th street, where some of his fans have lined up days in advance, waiting for a chance to see the Biebs. “These are pretty extreme fans,” Macy’s spokesperson Robin Reibel said about the mass of teenage girls gathered at the famed department store. “A lot of these girls camped out in tents last night.” Bieber will meet with the first 350 fans lucky enough to make the cut (and who purchase Someday) on Thursday. For $135, fans will get sprays in 3.4 and 1 oz. bottles, a 6.7 oz. body lotion, 5 oz. hair mist and a photo with the teen star. Michelle Obama’s Africa Trip: The Inside Story In South Africa

The first lady meets with 76 young female leaders committed to helping women shape their countries’ future. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Lola Ogunnaike First Lady Michelle Obama, along with daughters Sasha and Malia, reads “The Cat In The Hat” to children in Johannesburg, South Africa Photo: White House Photo by Samantha Appleton All this week, first lady Michelle Obama has been touring Africa with her mother and daughters as part of her ongoing work to engage and empower young people at home and abroad. Journalist Lola Ogunnaike has been covering the entire trip for BET as part of an upcoming special, “Impact on Africa: On a Mission With the First Lady.” On Wednesday evening, Ogunnaike called up MTV News to give us insight and exclusive information about the experience. These are her words. I have to say, first lady Michelle Obama has the energy of a Duracell bunny. She’s been running since she touched down in South Africa. We’ve been to the Regina Mundi church, which is the largest Catholic church in all of South Africa. We’ve been to the Nelson Mandela Foundation. She laid a wreath at the Hector Peterson Museum. Hector Peterson was the first person to be killed at the 1976 Soweto uprising in South Africa. She visited the first lady of South Africa. She’s gone to the U.S. Embassy. She went to a community garden and the Rosa Parks library. She danced and played with preschoolers and read them “Cat in the Hat.” It’s just been a whirlwind. And everywhere we’ve gone, people have been chanting her name. The kids have been singing, “Mrs. Obama, Mrs. Obama!” The outpouring has been incredible. There’s a palpable energy in the air. The Apartheid Museum was the last stop on the first lady’s tour on Tuesday. We watched her and her family stroll through the place. She spent the better part of an hour quietly taking in everything that surrounded her. One of the places that really seemed to intrigue the family was a Nelson Mandela wing, and in there is the red Mercedes that was given to him, boxing gloves, pictures, video testimonials. She was there with her entire family, including her mother, her nephew and niece, and her two daughters. It was an emotional and educational visit for the whole family. The first lady also met with 76 young female leaders from around Sub-Saharan Africa. When you walked into the room, you saw these girls lined up on risers. They looked like an eclectic choral group. They were from places like Zimbabwe, Botswana, South Africa — anywhere you can imagine. And the one thing that linked them was their commitment to making sure that women are empowered and women are going to shape the destiny of the continent. They were so poised and so elegant, but when Michelle Obama walked in, they just lost it! They were so excited. They started clapping and singing. One of the most significant things the first lady said to those ladies was, “I want my daughters to grow up to be just like you.” It was a simple and powerful statement. But to me it said that she is wholly invested in these women and wholly invested in this idea that these young women will not only change the future of this continent but also have the potential to change the future of the world. And she wants her daughters to emulate them. Related Videos First Lady Michelle Obama Visits Africa

Wiz Khalifa Squashes Waka Flocka Flame Beef Rumors

After wowing Bonnaroo crowd on Saturday, Wiz shut down gossip, telling MTV News, ‘Me and Waka and are cool.’ By James Montgomery Wiz Khalifa at Bonnaroo 2011 Photo: Rob Loud/ Getty Images MANCHESTER, Tennessee – Wiz Khalifa’s Saturday evening set at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival was, by his own admission, probably the biggest show he’s played since bursting onto the scene last year. And feeding upon the vibes of the crowd, he delivered a set that was as loose and lively as it was hit-packed and hungry. “I was feeling the energy the whole time, and I’ve been doing a lot of shows and growing as a performer and an artist, so I just wanted to build on all that,” he told MTV News following the performance. “Being a top act on such a huge stage in front of so many people, it’s a great starting point for my career, because a lot of people work their whole careers and then get here.” Of course, though he was still basking in the afterglow of his Bonnaroo set, Wiz also felt the need to address an issue that (supposedly) occurred at another of his big-stage shows: rumors of a backstage altercation with Waka Flocka Flame at Hot 97’s Summer Jam in New York earlier this month. “Yeah, nothing happened backstage,” Khalifa said. “It’s always something; making up some rumor about something happening with me backstage during somebody’s set, but nothing happened. Me and Waka and are cool. That’s just people trying to promote negativity.” And to hear Wiz tell it, there’s been a whole lot of that negativity going on in recent months. But, as he continues on the upswing of his young career, he’s not going to let any of it get him down. After all, there will be plenty more shows like Bonnaroo on the horizon, and he prefers to focus on that. “There’s just so much fake sh– going on. Like, people will buy into what’s fake. According to people, this isn’t my Rolex, you know?” he said. “But that’s just what mugs like to think and what they like to talk about, but the reality of the situation is everything’s under control. And this is my Rolex. That I bought.” Did you catch Wiz’s set at Bonnaroo? Share your reviews in the comments!
