Read more from the original source:

Source: Kimberly Chapman / Radio One March is the month of embracing, celebrating, and honoring women and their accomplishments whether, it’s women from our history or women of today.  Women are the most phenomenal beings. Anything given to us, we multiply. Give us groceries, we prepare meals; give us a house, we create a home; give us sperm; we carry and give you life, literally. What other being do you know can juggle being a mother, an entrepreneur, an employee, a wife, a chief, a teacher and make it look effortless? The world revolves around women, who are our real life super heroes. In the mist of playing this role as a women our accomplishments can become under-appreciated and go unnoticed at times, but luckily we have women who are too astonishing for that. Although, James Brown said “this is a man’s world” just like chess, the queen is still the most dominant piece in this world. There are so many super woman fulfilling multiple roles and I am honored to have the pleasure of speaking with one, Sheen Magazine’s founder and publisher Mrs, Kimberly Chapman. We talk about how she navigates being a publisher, a co-creator of Chapman hair care products and a mother.  Mrs. Kimberly Chapman you are a woman who wear multiple hats and carry many responsibilities what were your experiences to make you want to focus on yourself to become a Entrepreneur? As long as I can remember I knew I wanted to be in business. Even as early as 12. It was just in my spirit. Now what I really wanted to do? I had no idea. One of the many titles you have is being the Co-Creator of Chapman Products, a prominent hair care company, what is the story behind creating your hair care lines and how long has the Chapman Products  been surfacing? My husband was creating and producing products before we were married. Now of course it took marrying me to pull it all together. Over the years we have manufactured many brands, each focusing on different curl patterns. Our products are for all people. Chapman Products has been in existence for over 30 years. Being the Co-Creator of Chapman Products, which includes, Nairobi professional, Congo professional and  Kerefena Natural Hair Smoothing System, what hair types and texture are your products targeting and where are your hair products distributed? We have independent distributors all over the world. We are focused on professional stylists and barber. Our products are specially created and sold in salons and barbershops. What was the inspiration behind the the Chapman Foundation founded in 1999? The inspiration for Chapman Foundation was simply to be able to give back to those who have supported Chapman Products. Among being a Co-Creator of Chapman Products and a Overseer of Chapman Foundation, You are also the founder and Publisher of Sheen Magazine, which serves a beauty guide for modern day women while also promoting self-love. Where many magazines focuses on selling sex appeal why was it important for you to raise awareness on self love? Self love is Nirvana. Most focus on the outside (which doesn’t produce ultimate satisfaction).  However self love, oh that’s everything great. Sheen Magazine was founded in 2006 and has grown tremendously, but so has the growth digital and social media. How has this evolution effected the transition of going from print to both print and digital print? I believe in Sheen Magazine, so that’s where I place my focus. If I pay attention to unnecessary information, I lose focus on what I should be doing.  Sheen Magazine has opened the avenue to power events such as The Kimmie Awards and Sheen Talk TV as this platform continues to be a force to reckon with what’s next for Sheen Magazine? We will continue to produce a great magazine, that will be read and enjoyed nationally, as well as internationally. Being the creator and founder of many entities the most important hat you wear is being.a wife and mother. How does a phenomenal woman such as yourself find the balance between family and being a entrepreneur? The balance between raising children, and building your business, is very similar. You just do it, and don’t give it a second thought.  Everything you are doing Mrs. Chapman is iconic and legendary. You even consider yourself a legend in your own right. As we are celebrating women history month, how would you define being a legend and how are you shaping the narrative for your story of longevity as you continue to create historical moments and everlasting projects and events? I am as only I know how to be. Those that know me in this lifetime as Kimberly Chapman, know I am full filling my journey.           Mrs. Chapman is the demonstration of so many women balancing family and being a entrepreneur, but most importantly she is the epitome of you can do it all. As Mrs.Chapman and I spoke on her many achievements, she’s gearing up for the Kimmie Awards that’s powered by Sheen Magazine. The Kimmie Awards is making history, as it celebrates pioneers, influencer, educators, and celebrities in array of fields: beauty, hair, entertainment, music, and more. For more information click here.           We may celebrate international woman’s day and women history month in March, but our accomplishments are beyond a day and a month. Being a woman and everything that comes with it is a 24/7 job because who runs the world? Girls! You can Follow Mrs.Chapman on all social media platforms @Kimmchapman

Lil Wayne’s Rhymebook For Sale For $250K

Source: Riccardo S. Savi / Getty You can get your hands on a Lil Wayne notebook full of his rhymes, for a hefty cost. A rhymebook of Tunechi’s with bars from 1999 is for sale at $250,000. Fair price? Reports TMZ : The notebook — written in 1999 when Weezy was an up-and-coming 17-year-old rapper — is on the market for a cool $250k. The folks over at Moments in Time are handling the sale of the rare collection … featuring lyrics from “We On Fire” and “I Feel” during Wayne’s time with the rap group “Hot Boys.” We’re told the person who owns the notebook says he found it in a car that once belonged to Cash Money Records. He says when the dealership he works for took ownership of the whip, the guy rummaged through what was left behind and took possession of the notebook. Reportedly the notebook survived water damage from Hurrican Katrina (by then Lil Wayne had forgotten the book in a car and it had come into someone else’s possession). — Photo: Getty

No jail time!!!,” was the caption of a photo of an elated Dr. Dre and his smirking seed, Truly Young. And yes, Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine donated hefty money to USC and launched the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy while Dre spoke at one of the school’s graduations. You mad? Source: Jeff Kravitz / Getty Daniel Caesar has apologized. The R&B crooner says my bad for caping for YesJulz and saying that Black people shouldn’t be so mean to white people, sort of. Days after getting canceled , Caesar made his apology via the same method he put his foot in his mouth, on Instagram Live. “I was talking down to you guys, you know what I’m saying?,” said Caesar, who also said he was being pretentious. He added, “I just got say I apologize for how I expressed my idea because that is where I went wrong. I believe in what I said and I just need…as a man I just…I can admit when I’m wrong.” Wait, be believe in what he said? Someone point this guy to a history of racism Google search. Also, you can prepare the statement before going live with the “tyrannical rant” (his words) excuse. Is this dude still canceled or nah? “I apologize for how I expressed my idea” – Daniel Caesar pic.twitter.com/xJyLPep15g — Hip Hop N More (@HipHopNMore) March 24, 2019

Yas Kween: 15 Times Lupita Nyong’o Looked Like A Real Life Barbie Doll

See the rest here:

Source: Walter McBride / Getty We all knew that Lupita Nyong’o was a star from the moment she stepped on the scene — but her latest role as Adelaide Wilson in Jordan Peele’s ‘US’ has definitely solidified that fact. “Lupita is so good in US. I can’t stop thinking about it”- @DreamHampton The Oscar winning actress is so good at what she does, it’s hard to believe that “US’ is the first film with her as the lead. “Thinking about Us & how it’s Lupita’s FIRST film w/ her as the lead. Lupita is an Oscar winner & it has me thinking about how, if it weren’t for Ryan Coogler & Jordan Peele (both relatively NEW filmmakers) she might not have had these opportunities.”- @ReaganGomez It’s no question that Lupita’s skills as an actress are impeccable, and the fact that she can pull off any look doesn’t hurt either. “I dont want to sound hyperbolic, but the only thing worth living for right now is every press tour look that Lupita Nyong’o has blessed us with.”-@jarrettsays “The fact that @Lupita_Nyongo is so amazingly gorgeous but still managed to creep me out in US..brilliant”. @Angelica_Idalia Besides being phenomenal at what she does and being easy on the eyes, her intelligence, talent and creativity is what truly makes her a star. “I have so many questions about US, but what I’m not questioning is, Lupita’s talent. Good lord”- @thewordbanks Lupita is a breath of fresh air and great role model for young Black girls to have in a world where they’re extremely unrepresented. “Anyways Lupita Nyong’o is so damn gorgeous even as a f***ing scary clone murderer. Talent & beauty people !!!!”-@DigitalBlath Her striking appearance is just the icing on the Black Girl Magic cake. “And what my mother meant when she said you can’t eat beauty was that you can’t rely on how you look to sustain you. What is fundamentally beautiful is compassion for yourself and for those around you. That kind of beauty inflames the heart and enchants the soul.”- Lupita Nyong’o With a beauty like hers, it’s hard to pick all the times she looked like a walking Barbie doll. so we narrowed it down to 15. Hit the flip for some brilliant, Black beauty.

Tekashi SnitchNine: Tekashi 6ix9ine Gets Lead Attorney Back For His Case

Originally posted here:

Source: PYMCA / Getty While Tekashi 6ix9ine ‘s legal ordeal has somewhat cooled in recent weeks, he’s still facing a mounting number of charges despite his reported cooperation with authorities. The rapper born Daniel Hernandez also got a mild victory after he was allowed to bring back his former lead attorney after previously being told there were conflicts of interest. The Blast reports : According to court documents obtained by The Blast, a New York judge has determined 6ix9ine’s former lawyer, Lance Lazarro, can come back on as lead attorney for the rapper, as soon as the Tekashi signs off on it. Lazarro was taken off the case by the judge after concerns over conflict of interest because he previously represented two men who are co-defendants in the criminal case. The judge ruled that after reviewing all the evidence, 6ix9ine’s lawyer has shown there is no risk to the other co-defendants if he continues working for 6ix9ine. A hearing was scheduled for March 28 where the rapper will have to tell the judge he agrees. Lazarro formerly represented co-defendants Shotti and Crippy in times past, thus the conflict. — Photo: Getty

R. Kelly Allegedly Stopped Joycelyn Savage’s Family Meeting?

More here:

Source: Nuccio DiNuzzo / Getty The family of Joycelyn Savage has been desperately trying to connect with the young songstress who they believe is under the spell of R. Kelly . A meeting between Ms. Savage and her family was said to be under coordination with a report stating Kelly’s team ended talks on when and where that reunion could take place. TMZ reports : R. Kelly’s team is having a hard time arranging a meeting between Joycelyn Savage and her parents … because both sides can’t agree on a location. R. Kelly’s rep, Darrell Johnson, tells TMZ … Joycelyn is not opposed to meeting with her mom and dad, but she only wants to meet them in Chicago. We’re told the Savage family wants to meet Joycelyn at her grandmother’s home — which is outside the Windy City — because Grandma’s battling cancer. The Savages have made it clear from the beginning … they want to meet in a neutral location outside of Chicago. So, both sides remain at a standstill … even though it’s been two weeks since R. Kelly’s team agreed to set up a meeting between Joycelyn and her fam. In updates, The Savage family’s attorney Gerald Griggs stated the family was willing to work with to Ms. Savage’s request that the meeting takes place in Chicago but that they didn’t hear back from Kelly’s team until later. It appears that both sides were firm in how they wanted the meeting to take place according to a phone call conversation provided by Kelly’s side. — Photo: Getty

Never Forget: Today In 1967, Muhammad Ali Defended His Title Just Before Defending His Life

Visit link:

Source: Kent Gavin / Getty Fifty-two years ago today, Muhammad Ali would fight his last fight prior to being suspended from boxing. The match took place at Madison Square Garden in NYC and he was fighting Zora Folley . Folley and Ali went seven rounds before Ali knocked him out. The vet went down suddenly, but Ali’s win couldn’t have been much of a surprise, as the heavyweight world champion was undefeated in the ring. “I went to New York to win the championship. I wouldn’t have gone if I did not think I could win,” Folley said at the time . “I was confident. But Ali beat me at my own game…the right hands Ali hit me with just had no business landing—but they did. They came from nowhere…this guy has a style all of his own.” Ali defended his title but at the time he was also fighting for his life, having been reclassified as eligible to serve in the Vietnam war. In April of 1967, Ali refused to be inducted into the United States military—consequentially, his license was suspended by the New York State Boxing Commission and he was stripped of his title, with other states following suit. The following month, Ali would be indicted by a federal grand jury, who accused him of violating the Selective Service Act. He was eventually sentenced to five years in prison with an added fine of $10,000. “I’m the champ. I can beat any man alive. I don’t have to prove it to anybody. It doesn’t make any difference if they take my name off a few bits of paper. You can’t brainwash the fact that I am the champ out of the minds of the people. If I thought it would bring freedom, justice, and equality for 22 million so-called negroes, they wouldn’t have to draft me. I’d join tomorrow,” he is quoted as saying after exiting the courthouse. The champ would never serve the five year prison sentence, as he remained free during court appeals, with the Supreme Court overturning his conviction in 1971. As we all know, Muhammad Ali passed away in 2016 at the age of 74 and his death devastated the world. In 1975, Ali was asked by Playboy how he thought he’d be remembered. He responded: “I don’t know, but I’ll tell you how I’d like to be remembered: as a black man who won the heavyweight title and who was humorous and who treated everyone right. As a man who never looked down on those who looked up to him and who helped as many of his people as he could– financially and also in their fight for freedom, justice and equality. As a man who wouldn’t hurt his people’s dignity by doing anything that would embarrass them. As a man who tried to unite his people through the faith of Islam that he found when he listened to the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. And if all that’s asking too much, then I guess I’d settle for being remembered only as a great boxing champion who became a preacher and a champion of his people. And I wouldn’t even mind if folks forgot how pretty I was.” Man, we miss you Ali. Rest in peace.
