EXCLUSIVE: Tym Wallace Shares How To Recreate Nia Long’s Braided Pompadour Ponytail

Read the original post:

Source: Matt Winkelmeyer / Getty Nia Long got all gussied up for the premiere of 47 Meters Down: Uncaged . The actress has a role in the film. The beauty looked gorgeous in a Tiffany blue dress by House of CB. Her makeup was done by Saisha Beecham, who gave the beauty a smokey eye and a nude lip. However, we couldn’t get over her pompadour, braided bunched ponytail completed by celebrity hairstylist Tym Wallace ! View this post on Instagram Today with @iamnialong for the premier of @47metersdown makeup by @saishabeecham #tossedbytym thank you so much @hairareus for coming thru so short notice @nealstonge styling A post shared by tym (TIM) wallace (@tymwallacehair) on Aug 13, 2019 at 7:39pm PDT We spoke exclusively with Wallace, who shared the inspiration for the look. “I was inspired by her dress. It had such a 90s feel. With the eye-catching color and very deep plunging neckline. I knew we needed a chic ponytail to compliment the entire dress. And add the makeup – Nia Long – WOW…ageless beauty.” Source: Gregg DeGuire / Getty Ponytails and braids have been trending on the red carpet for celebrities this season. Wallace shares, “I am always a fan of the ponytail. Ponytails are forever classic.” Nia Long’s ponytail has more of an edge, “We are giving ponytails a modern twist. For Nia’s look, we went for a punk modern ponytail paying homage to #BlackGirlMagic with some swooped edges.” Well, you’ve snatched our edges with this look! Want to recreate the look? Here are the steps and the exact products that Wallace used. The first step was making sure the hair is clean. Wallace used Mizani Thermasmooth Shampoo ($16.00, ulta.com ) and Thermasmooth Conditioner ($18.00, ulta.com ). Afterward he applied Mizani’s 25 Miracle Leave In Milk ($19.88, walmart.com ) and “then blow dried the hair into sections.” The next step is to “press the hair to make it super sleek.” He left out a section for the pompadour braid. “Next, I moothed the hair up in a ponytail using ORIBE Original Pomade ($34.99, express.google.com ) and Bed Head Hard Head Hairspray ($10.39, amazon.com ), then formed the hair with the blow dryer to lock on the ponytail.” To give Nia Long’s hair additional length, he added Hair Are Us 24 Inch Hair ($100.00, hairareus.com ) around the ponytail for “extra length cut layers.” He then added some waves and brushed it out and created slight puff balls, then added the braided pompadour. Beauties, what do you think of this look? Would you try this hairstyle? Sound off in the comment section. Welp: R. Kelly Is Reportedly Looking For Help From Michael Jackson’s Molestation Case Attorney

Source: Chicago Tribune / Getty R. Kelly Is Looking For Help From Michael Jackson’s Attorney R. Kelly is reportedly looking for some heavyweights to represent him in his many pending trials.   According to reports from TMZ,  Kelly is trying to land Tom Mesereau, the lawyer who represented   Michael Jackson   in his molestation case in 2005. He also got Robert Blake acquitted of murder. The publication goes on to say that Kelly met with Mesereau for 4 hours, but he still hasn’t signed on just yet. The issue here just might be Kelly’s diminishing finances, which are being burned through quickly to fight his numerous cases. Obviously, an attorney with a track record like Mesereau’s doesn’t come cheap. Kelly is reportedly looking for new representation because his current team brings too much media attention for certain stunts of theirs, like referring to his accusers as “disgruntled groupies.” R. Kelly’s current lead attorney Steve Greenberg called the news that his client was seeking out new lawyers, “A complete load of crap.” Whoever does end up representing Kelly in the future sure has their work cut out for them. In addition to charges already filed in Chicago and New York, Kelly was recently hit with two counts of  underage prostitution in Minnesota. The disgraced singer allegedly paid a minor to strip for him in his hotel room in 2001, at which point prosecutors claim there was “sexual contact” but “no intercourse” between the two.

Can’t Nobody Tell Him Nothiiin: Lil Nas X Reveals What Made Him Come Out As Gay, Covers TIME Magazine In Gitty Up Gear

Source: Rich Fury / Getty Lil Nas X Covers TIME Magazine To say that the Summer belonged to Lil Nas X is an understatement. At just 20 years old, the Georgia rapper went from a unknown Twitter troll, to an extremely well known troll, whose song “Old Town Road” dethroned Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men as the longest-running No. 1 song in history. Now you can’t go anywhere without seeing his face, or hearing that song and it’s many remixes. View this post on Instagram When @lilnasx's debut single “Old Town Road” exploded online early this year and began climbing the charts, industry prognosticators anticipated a quick rise and fall. It’s now the longest-running No. 1 song in history, having occupied the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for 19 weeks. It’s been streamed more than a billion times on @spotify alone. All of this has made “Old Town Road” the defining sound of the year, a slurry, genre-busting interpolation of two quintessential American musical genres: #country and hip-hop. Yet even from his perch, writes Andrew R. Chow, Lil Nas is still an outlier. There aren’t many black stars in country #music; there aren’t many queer stars in #hiphop. There aren’t many queer black stars in American culture, point-blank. The fact that Lil Nas has risen so far and so fast testifies not only to his skill, but also to the erosion of the systems that for generations kept #artists like him on the sidelines. At a time when debates about categorization and identity are ubiquitous, Lil Nas X represents a more unified vision of the future, one in which a young #queer black man can dominate popular #culture by being unapologetically himself. “Everything lined up for this moment to take me to this place,” he says now. “Not to sound self-centered, but it feels like I’m chosen, in a way, to do this stuff.” Read more at the link in bio. Photograph by @kelianne for TIME; animation by @brobeldesign; “Old Town Road” (p) 2019 Columbia Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment A post shared by TIME (@time) on Aug 15, 2019 at 5:08am PDT   Lil Nas graced the cover of the latest issue of TIME Magazine and got candid about his meteoric rise to success, and why he was initially hesitant to come out as gay. “I never would have done that if I wasn’t in a way pushed by the universe. In June, I’m seeing Pride flags everywhere and seeing couples holding hands — little stuff like that.” View this post on Instagram When @lilnasx recorded “Old Town Road” last fall, he was hoping it could be his way out of an unhappy life. Born Montero Lamar Hill outside #Atlanta in 1999, Lil Nas grew up poor, living with one parent or another—his mother and father split when he was 6. As he spent most of his teenage years alone, he began to live on the Internet and particularly Twitter, creating #memes that showed his disarming wit and pop-culture savvy. “It was like, I’m able to go viral, but I’m not promoting anything that’s gonna help me,” he says. “Until music came along.” A gifted vocalist since he was a child—his father is a gospel singer—Lil Nas began writing and recording songs in his closet. When, around last Halloween, he stumbled across a banjo-driven beat by the teenage Dutch producer @youngkio, he saw an opportunity to combine trap—a Southern-born #hiphop subgenre propelled by vicious bass and crawling tempos—with #country, which was experiencing a surge of popularity on the Internet. “Because it’s two polar opposites coming together, it’s funny no matter what it is,” he says. For the history of #music, artists like Lil Nas were the exception, writes Andrew R. Chow. Now, by definition, Lil Nas is the rule. Read more at the link in bio. Video by @khomariflashfilms and @alexandra_robson for TIME A post shared by TIME (@time) on Aug 15, 2019 at 8:48am PDT The young artist added that he was taught from a young age that homosexuality “is never going to be OK,” plus, he feared he might lose fans if he shared his truth. But quite the contrary, Lil Nas. His popularity has skyrocketed over the last few month, which is proof that authenticity ultimately wins. Apparently there’s a lot more we didn’t know about the country rap crooner. Check out Lil Nas X’s full interview here .
