Happy Pi Day! Slightly More Than 3.14 Movies That Love Math

It’s March 14, dear readers, which is better known in the math-loving community as Pi Day. In honor of this numeric holiday, please help yourself to approximately three slices of pie from our expansive pie-ffet (any kind of pie you can imagine, displayed underneath a Movieline-emblazoned sneeze guard!), and review these films that make you — or your estranged autistic brother Raymond — really, really love numbers.

Topher Grace on Take Me Home Tonight and Almost Dying Inside of a Gigantic Metal Ball

Back in 2006, Topher Grace wrapped production on That ’70s Show and transitioned seamlessly into the ’80s. That is, the Connecticut-raised actor starred in (and executive produced) an ’80s romantic comedy opposite Teresa Palmer , Anna Faris and Dan Fogler called Take Me Home Tonight . And this weekend, after a few years and a few distribution switch-ups, the film is finally being released .

The New Kung Fu Panda 2 Trailer: Not Enough Jean-Claude Van Damme

It’s a good week to be an animation fan, what with Rango garnering rave reviews and a new trailer for the Shrek spin-off Puss in Boots hitting the web. (Unless, like me, you caught the Puss in Boots teaser in theaters at midnight in front of the aptly-named Beastly . Not a smart life choice, in retrospect.) But what mystical, family-friendly, Eastern-influenced laughs await us in the new trailer for Kung Fu Panda 2 ?

Quick, Let’s Name 50 Songs Glee Should Never Cover and Save Their Souls

Let me be clear: Though I’m a Glee hater, I enjoy and endorse some of the show’s interesting song choices. During the Madonna episode, I liked the pep assembly version of “4 Minutes” and the all-male rendition of “What It Feels Like for a Girl” because they were unexpected tunes with unexpected singers. But most of the time Glee resorts to overly familiar hits, cheapens them, and shoehorns them into maddening storylines. That can be a tolerable practice, but let’s set aside 50 examples of untouchable pop majesty for Glee immunity. Add your own, please .

Super Trailer: Instant Classic Gets Wrenching Preview

Ha! [Cue honking gag horn] It’ll all make sense after a look at the trailer for Super , James Gunn’s outrageous (and outrageously violent) comedy featuring Rainn Wilson as a schmo-turned-crime-fighter working to reclaim his estranged wife (Liv Tyler) from an evil drug lord (Kevin Bacon). Along the way he enlists a young sidekick (Ellen Page) whose expertise in comics (and enthusiasm for head-busting) comes in handy on his quest.

The Music Never Stopped Trailer: J.K. Simmons Wants You to Turn Down that Racket

Aw man, another movie about some guy who gets a brain tumor only to be nursed back to his former self through music by Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead? Okay fine, we have probably actually never seen this plot in a Sundance Dramedy, but by the end of the trailer for The Music Never Stops it’s pretty clear that this is just a backdrop for an father (J.K. Simmons) reconnecting with his estranged son (Lou Taylor Pucci), which might explain why it all feels so familiar.
