Making It Rain…Formerly: Moammar Gadhafi Was Possibly The Richest Man In The World

We didn’t know Gadhafi was making that kind of bread! Senior Libyan officials are telling the Los Angeles Times that Gadhafi may have had a net worth of $200 billion before he died. Read that again. $200 billion. Most of this money was tied in assets with $67 billion in Europe and America and tens of billions spread out across the world. This would make him the richest man in the world, ahead of the previous richest man, Carlos Slim who is worth a reported $125 billion. It’s unclear how much of this money Libya will be able to recover to run its government moving forward. But even half of that is more than enough to get things started. That’s a whole lot of cheddar.

‘Sherlock Holmes 2’ Trailer Reveals Rachel McAdams, Moriarty

‘A Game of Shadows’ appears to pick up where the action-packed, bromantic original began. By Kara Warner Robert Downey Jr. in “Sherlock Holmes 2” Photo: Warner Bros As far as sensational, buzzworthy trailers go, Robert Downey Jr. is on a roll. He’s been a prominent fixture in two of the most talked-about teasers from two of the most anticipated films. The first trailer is for “The Avengers,” which Marvel and Disney rolled out last week, and the second is for Guy Ritchie’s bromantic “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,” which hit the Interwebs on Wednesday (October 19). This second trailer is all about upping the action and mystery. It opens with the voice of new leading lady Sim, played by Noomi Rapace. “What do you see?” she asks Dr. Holmes (Downey Jr.), to which he replies “Everything,” as we are then shown quick cuts of what are likely pieces of the second film’s big mystery. There are dancing couples in a glamorous ballroom (including Sim and Holmes) at some grand party, a game of chess, a possible crime scene with a pile of wreckage in the center, bullet holes in the walls, cocked pistols and — gasp! A shot of Rachel McAdams’ shifty lady thief Irene Adler walking somewhere with haste and some sort of precious parcel. The last shot in the opening montage is a glimpse at Jared Harris as evil-ish Moriarty looking out from behind super-secret spy glasses (not really, he’s just holding a lorgnette — those fancy glasses people use at the opera). “That is my curse,” Holmes says, a bookend to our introductory 20 seconds or so, before Ritchie kicks the action into high gear and packs the remaining two minutes and seven seconds with explosions, running, shooting, etc. — basically, Holmes and Watson (Jude Law) are up to their old tricks. “Oh, how I’ve missed you, Holmes,” Watson says to his friend. “Have you? I’ve barely noticed your absence,” Holmes answers back in a passive-aggressive tone, pretending not to have missed his best friend. This brief exchange is followed by more quick cuts of exotic locations and Watson’s wedding and an introduction to bad guy Moriarty. “What are we up against here?” Watson asks Holmes. “The most formidable criminal mind in Europe,” Holmes says. “Professor James Moriarty,” Watson says, reading his name from Holmes’ notes somewhere. “If we can stop him, we can prevent the collapse of Western civilization,” Holmes adds dramatically, before an explosion erupts in the background. “No pressure.” This is followed by more running, bullets flying, a slow-motion cat-and-mouse chase in the snow, banter with lady Sim, as well as a few Holmes and Watson moments, including one in which the former suddenly appears dressed in drag. “What?” Watson says when he encounters Holmes as a lady. “I agree it’s not my best disguise,” Holmes counters. Finally there are more quick cuts of action, much of which looks to be set on a moving train that later explodes, along with a brief but passionate kiss between former lovers Holmes and Adler. Jodie Marsh Is A Muscle Freak

I haven’t seen Jodie Marsh in a while, I always loved her giant fake breasts and pretend lesbian antics and… Wait what the hell is this? Seriously, who is this dude and why do his breasts look so familiar? Apparently Jodie has decided to become a body builder and thinks this looks sexy. I don’t want to discourage women from working out, a tight body is better than a loose body any day, but this is just a little too freaky even for me. Call me old fashioned, but I like my women looking like women. What happened to getting hammered and letting us look up your skirt? Is that not a thing anymore?

Lindsay Lohan’s Sweet Black & White Cleavage

I guess before Lindsay Lohan took off galavanting around Europe in her sexy outfits, she did this Terry Richardson photoshoot. I don’t know much about him, but I’m guessing he’s the guy in the pictures who looks like he might lure you into his van with a puppy. I don’t know much about photography, other than everything looks better in black and white, but I know breasts and Lindsay’s are looking awesome. A close up of cleavage with a monkey bottle cap squeezed in it… It doesn’t take a genius to know that’s going to work. #ishouldbeaphotographer

Rihanna’s Video Shoot Shut Down By Irish Farmer For Being “Inappropriate”

See original here:

Rihanna has begun filming the video for “We Found Love” in Ireland. But the farmer who gave her permission to shoot the clip in his grain field has shut down production, according to People . Alan Graham, 61, noticed Rihanna dancing around in a red handkerchief bikini and put an end to it, calling her wardrobe “inappropriate.” He told BBC, “I have an ethos and I felt it was inappropriate. I requested them to stop and they did. I wish no ill will against Rihanna and her friends. Perhaps they could acquaint themselves with a greater God.” He probably should have done some research on Ri before agreeing to this. Then again, she didn’t have to go completely topless without warning, either! See the pic at YBF. Lindsay Lohan In Red Leather Short Shorts

I’m not sure if Lindsay Lohan has done any real work since her whole drunken jail thing, but it looks like she’s back at it with some sort of photoshoot in Europe somewhere. Good for her. I’m assuming it’s in Europe because they’ve got her wearing red leather short shorts and a matching red leather short jacket. Crazy Europeans. Anyhow, she’s looking pretty damn sexy, like a prostitute in a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie from the early nineties. Hot. When is she going to meet some rich old dude and make a career out of lounging around topless on his yacht in the French riviera? more pictures of Lindsay Lohan here

R.E.M. Call It Quits

‘We walk away with a great sense of gratitude,’ band says Wednesday, bringing to close a 30-year career. By James Montgomery R.E.M. Photo: Anton Corbijn After 30 years, 15 studio albums, dozens of iconic music videos and boundary-pushing tours (and just four core members) — not to mention a sphere of influence that extends from the nascent days of college radio to the buzzy blogosphere of today — R.E.M. are calling it quits. The band made the announcement Wednesday (September 21) on their website , posting a message that, like most things they did, was almost unyieldingly humble: “To our Fans and Friends: As R.E.M., and as lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band,” their statement reads. “We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and of astonishment at all we have accomplished. To anyone who ever felt touched by our music, our deepest thanks for listening.” The band — frontman Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills and drummer Bill Berry (a lineup that wouldn’t change for some 17 years) — formed in the fertile music scene surrounding Athens, Georgia, in 1980, and after spending their early days touring the Southern states, they found their first modicum of fame with 1981’s “Radio Free Europe,” which garnered them critical acclaim and a contract with indie label I.R.S. Records. In 1982, they released their debut EP, Chronic Town, quickly followed by their first full-length, 1983’s Murmur, which sold modestly but earned R.E.M. even more praise — particularly Buck’s jangly guitar tones and Stipe’s cryptic lyrics. With each subsequent release — ’84’s Reckoning, ’85’s Fables of the Reconstruction, — R.E.M.’s fanbase only grew, and they quickly became pillars of the burgeoning “college rock” scene. They’d also continue to flirt with mainstream audiences, and by the time they released the overtly political Document in 1987, they finally consummated that relationship. Spurred by radio hit “The One I Love,” it became the first R.E.M. album to go platinum. They signed with Warner Bros. soon after and finally achieved massive success with 1991’s Out of Time, a hugely influential album that featured the breakout hit (and accompanying eye-catching video) “Losing My Religion.” It earned R.E.M. seven Grammy nominations, sold more than 12 million copies worldwide and has since become a tentpole of the alt-rock heyday of the 1990s. It also made them one of the hugest rock bands on the planet. Undaunted, they followed the success of Time with the equally huge Automatic for the People (featuring hits “Everybody Hurts,” “Drive” and “Man on the Moon”) and the snarling Monster. But on tour for the latter, drummer Berry suffered an onstage aneurysm and Stipe underwent emergency surgery to repair a hernia. Still, they pressed on, re-signing with Warners (for a reported $80 million) and releasing the noticeably darker New Adventures in Hi-Fi, which didn’t meet expectations from critics or fans and marked the end of their string of huge commercial successes. Berry left the band in 1997, but the remaining members of R.E.M. pressed on as a three-piece (with a variety of drummers filling in behind the kit), releasing a string of albums &#8212′ ’98’s Up, ’01’s Reveal, ’04’s Around the Sun — that garnered critical acclaim but sold poorly in the U.S. (though it should be noted that worldwide, the band remained a huge commercial force). They wrote the instrumental score to the Andy Kaufman biopic “Man on the Moon” and continued to record, releasing their final album, Collapse Into Now, just this year. Of course, though their commercial power faded during their later years, R.E.M. remained hugely influential throughout their entire career, thanks to their music, their activism and their unflappable, DIY ethos. They championed causes like environmentalism, voter registration, animal rights and handgun control, and everyone from Sonic Youth and the Replacements to Pavement, Radiohead and Nirvana cited them as huge inspirations. And, in 2007, when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame , it was Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder who gave their keynote speech and brought it all back to the beginning, joking that he’d listened to Murmur “1,260 times … even though you can’t understand a f—ing thing [Stipe] is saying.” Share your favorite R.E.M. memories in the comments below.
