Tiger Woods Checked For Injuries By Police

Florida State police officers examined the upper body of Tiger Woods for injuries during a meeting with them last month, according to TV station WESH in Florida. Tiger lifted up his shirt, says the station, during the December 1 meeting so that the troopers could discern if he had any additional injuries after his SUV crash. The meeting took place four days after the post-Thanksgiving car wreck that blew the lid off Tiger’s cheating, one of the biggest sex scandals in sports history.

Much of Europe continues to face transport problems because of freezing weather but some services have resumed. More than 90 people have died across the Continent, 10 of them in a single day in Poland, where the winter death toll now stands at 79.

Snow at highest elevations no longer pure

“The pure white snow atop the Andes Mountains may not be so pure after all. Scientists have found traces of toxic pollutants called PCBs in snow samples taken from Aconcagua Mountain, the highest peak in the Americas. While the overall PCB levels were quite low, the results show that these long-lasting contaminants, notorious for causing myriad health problems, can end up at altitudes as high as 20,340 feet (6,200 meters), making their way through the atmosphere to these remote areas

Czech government allows personal cannabis use in 2010

The interim Czech government, led by chief statistician-turned-Prime Minister Jan Fischer, Monday took another step towards making casual marijuana smoking a worry-free affair. Fischer’s cabinet defined what constitutes “small amounts” of cannabis for personal use, clarifying the country’s new penal code that from next year decriminalizes cultivation and possession of the plant by individuals
