Is it just us, or does Rashida look a couple shades darker in these shots? Back before Rashida Jones realized that being black is no fun , the actress and her older sister Kidada were profiled for the teen magazine “Sassy”. That profile was recently unearthed by our friends at BuzzFeed and we wanted to share some of the chuckle worthy outtakes from the interview with you. For example: “Kidada is a homegirl, and way relaxed… Rashida’s 15 and thinks meat is gross. She’s very chatty and funny and loves that classic, Euro-prep thing. Rashida and Kidada are sisters, and boy do they act it. You know, one minute they’re cruising down the high-way singing “Ya down with OPP yea, you know me…” at the top of their lungs. The next minute, Kidada is telling Rashida to shut up with a look that melt steel. The most comedy thing about this is the name of the article was “Nature Of A Sista!” Rashida been into that European isht since way back but as a 15-year-old she was a little bit down. The rest of the interview is about how “different” they are and how Sassy doesn’t usually cater to celebrity kids but the Jones girls are just so cool and down to earth the magazine struggled over whether to tell readers who their parents were. Check out some of the photos from the magazine on the flip and peep how much Rashida’s steez has changed!
So much for that Britney Spears hotness comeback . As you can see from these latest pictures, that dream is officially over. It’s too bad, because if she wasn’t wearing such a baggy shirt over those tight pants, this might’ve been a whole nother story. Oh well, it was a good run while it lasted. 14 hours has to be new record for Britney these days. Congratulations. Man, after seeing this video of Carly Baker , I definitely need to start watching more UFC. Because apparently Carly was named their newest Ring Girl when the British hottie became the first European Octagon Girl in London last week. And I know they do things differently in England, but I’m pretty sure she’s using that water bottle wrong. Not that I want to be the one to correct her. Carry on, Carly. http://youtu.be/wCjJG6VFlcc
Race really matters… SMH. Via The New York Times : …an exhibition match between one of Italy’s leading soccer teams and a lower division club was abandoned on Thursday after a black player responded to racist chanting from fans by kicking a ball into the stands and walking off the field in Busto Arsizio, outside Milan. Video of the incident, which took place in the small stadium of Pro Patria, a club in one of Italy’s lower leagues, showed Kevin-Prince Boateng, a Ghanaian-German midfielder for the visitors, A.C. Milan, stopping play and launching the ball in the direction of fans of the home team who were chanting like monkeys. He then pulled off his shirt and walked to the locker room, followed by his teammates. Fans in the same part of the stadium had directed monkey chants at another Ghanaian player, Sulley Muntari, just minutes earlier, another YouTube clip showed. The Pro Patria players said later that they had tried and failed to convince about a dozen fans to stop the racist abuse, The Associated Press reported. “When we tried to reason with them and went under the stands, they didn’t even consider it,” Devis Nossa, a Pro Patria defender said. “They certainly weren’t our usual fans.” On Twitter, Mr. Boateng promoted the hashtag #StopRacismforever and posted supportive comments from fans and fellow players, including Patrick Viera, a former star of the French national team, the Turkish midfielder Nuri Sahin and Marco Materazzi, an Italian defender who helped his country win the 2006 World Cup. A statement on the incident on the Pro Patria Web site headlined, “Tolleranza Zero,” began: Today was supposed to be the festival of sport. The crowd for the friendly match Pro Patria vs. AC Milan was composed of women, children, families, young athletes and real fans. This festival was ruined by a small number of uncivilized people who have nothing to do with football and with the values of sport, especially fair play, which are part of the DNA of the club Aurora Pro Patria 1919. A.C. Milan’s manager, Massimiliano Allegri, said later that he supported the decision by his players, and hoped that the match would eventually be replayed: These racist episodes have to end. Walking off was the correct decision to make after the racist chants. We are sorry these events have happened, more so for the other supporters — the families and children who had come here to spend a pleasant afternoon. We have promised Pro Patria that we will come back for these people. Despite globalization and European integration, which has led to increasingly multicultural professional and national teams, racist abuse, particularly directed at black players, remains a problem across the continent. Three months ago, a black player representing England in a youth tournament heard loud monkey chants at a match in Serbia. Although the Serbian Football Association accused the player of lying when he said that the chants started every time he touched the ball, very loud monkey chants could be heard on video shot from the stands at the end of the match. We’re just glad homeboy’s team backed him up…and that he had the sense to walk of the damn field in the first place! Images via youtube/twitter

My name is Haley. I’ve been with Justin since the beginning supporting him and everything. I got Bieber Fever right away. I saw his movie Never Say Never in February 2011 and I literally fell in love with him even more. My uncle is the president of MTV Europe but I live in the U.S., and he personally knows Justin and is friends with Scooter Braun. I never knew one day I would actually get to meet him. It never occurred to me. It was August 2011 and we were down the shore at my aunt’s beach house and he told us that the European Music Awards were coming up in Belfast, Ireland and Justin Bieber was going to be there. I jumped right out of my seat and told my mom, “We Should GO!” My mom was like, “Yea I agree… but I doubt we will actually go because of school and work and everything.” My aunt and my cousin, who was 8 at the time, were all for it. But it never really went through, we just left it at that. Late September came, and my aunt and my mom have bought it up. We were just thinking about it, looked at the flights and everything. October came around and my mom finally said to me, “We’re going to Ireland on November 2nd 2011.” I was so excited. The reason we were going was mainly to see the boy who I never thought I would ever see in my life, Justin Bieber. We were on our way to the Colleden Hotel in Belfast where Justin Bieber was staying, as well as Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and so on. There were security guards everywhere guarding the drive way up to the castle. We took a black Mercedes up, and saw three Mercedes coming down, little did we know the middle car was Justin. He was inside drinking water and he waved to us . It was incredible. Me and my cousin was freaking out. Later my aunt got a call from my uncle saying he’ll have a driver come pick us up from the hotel and you will meet me here at the venue where the award show is being held and you will meet Justin Bieber . I was so excited. We finally got to the venue (it was the night before the show) and everyone was getting ready for their dress rehearsal. I went backstage and there were stars everywhere. We got out of the black Mercedes and everyone was taking pictures of us thinking we were famous. It was great. My uncle’s assistant took us in and then we saw my uncle. He took us to Justin’s dressing room and we were in the hallway waiting for him. I heard his voice. I met many stars in my life before but this was someone special, this was Justin Bieber. He didn’t come out of the room yet but I could still hear his voice. Then he finally came out and said hi to all of his bodyguards and stuff. Then he came over to us, and asked us what our names were and shook my hand. He said, “What’s your name?” “Haley” “Hi Haley,” but pronounced Haley weird, anyways it was perfect. Then we were talking and my cousin squeezed my hand so hard I thought it was going to fall off. Then we took a picture and he rubbed my back and hugged me. So that was my first experiences meeting Justin Bieber. My second experience was at the Believe Tour in East Rutherford by New York. I meet him with my aunt, my cousin and my mom. We had to go in groups of 6 and we only had 4 so we asked this 12 year old girl and her dad to come in with us so it would be 6. I was standing next to the dad. I knew I had to say something to Justin before they took the picture so I said, “Wait can I stand right here” He put his hand out and said “Yes if want you right here sweetheart,” and he held my back this time. I was really worried if he would smile in this picture because he didn’t last time. But he did. He grabbed my hand and said thank you again. I was very stunned so I was just “Thank you” and I hugged him. It was so amazing. and I have one thing to say, always follow your dreams because that was one of my dreams and I met him twice in a year apart. More: My name is Haley. I’ve been with Justin since…
Louisiana meteorologist Rhonda Lee defended her short hair after being insulted on Facebook, only to be fired … and receive a groundswell of support online. A viewer took Lee, of Shreveport’s KTBS, to task October 1 for having short hair, rather than for any job-related issues. Lee, 37, responded in the comments. Instead of backing her up or deleting the offensive post, however, the network fired Lee , saying she had violated the company’s unofficial social media policy. Now, her fans are furious. Nearly 1,000 people have signed a petition asking that KTBS rehire Lee, saying she was victimized twice, once by the viewer “and again by KTBS.” “Rhonda Lee deserves to have her job back,” the petition reads. “Her eloquent response to the bigoted and sexist remarks of viewer Emmitt Vascocu were warranted.” “Employers such as KTBS-TV should stand by their employees and on-air talent whenever they are verbally attacked based on their looks, values or merit.” “I would never have dreamed in a million years that I would get all this support,” Lee told the Daily News. “It’s been a tough go at first to not be angry. But mostly I’m just sad. I genuinely loved where I worked. I loved my viewers. I made my home here.” For its part, KTBS says Lee “was not dismissed for her appearance or defending her appearance” but rather for the repeated violation of the company policy. “Unfortunately, television personalities have long been subject to harsh criticism and negative viewer comments about their appearance and performance,” the ABC affiliate said. “If harsh viewer comments are posted, there is a specific procedure to follow.” Rhonda Lee, however, says she never saw the policy in question, and that when she asked for it following her termination, higher-ups told her no. KTBS, on the other hand, says Lee received an email outlining the procedure, which states that it is “best not to respond at all” to viewer complaints. What did Lee write, and in response to what, exactly? “The black lady that does the news is a very nice lady. the onlt [sic] thing is she needs to wear a wig or grow some more hair,” wrote Emmitt Vascocu on October 1. “im not sure if she is a cancer patient. but its not something that i think looks good on tv.” Days later, when KTBS still hadn’t respond to the Facebook post on its page, Lee did. “Hello Emmitt I am the “black lady” to which you are referring. My name is Rhonda Lee. Nice to meet you,” she wrote on October 6, in the comments. “I am sorry you don’t like my ethnic hair. And no I don’t have cancer.” “I am very proud of my African-American ancestry which includes my hair. For your edification: traditionally our hair doesn’t grow downward. It grows upward.” “Many Black women use strong straightening agents in order to achieve a more European grade of hair and that is their choice. However in my case I don’t find it necessary.” “I’m very proud of who I am and the standard of beauty I display. As women we come in all shapes, sizes, nationalities, and levels of beauty.” “Showing little girls that being comfortable in the skin and HAIR God gave me is my contribution to society,” the TV personality concluded. “Little girls (and boys for that matter) growing up in this world need to see that what you look like isn’t a reason to not achieve their goals.”
